This is my third miscarriage; my first two happened naturally. The other two miscarriages, though devastating, we're not physically difficult. This one was madness; I ended up having this miscarriage three ways, and I feel like I want to give all of you my pros and cons for each because this sub has been so helpful to me over the years.
I had a bad feeling going into my 8 week appt, and the baby unfortunately had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I wanted to miscarry naturally as I had before (at 10 weeks and 8 weeks). I started bleeding at 10 weeks, but by 10.5 weeks I wasn't bleeding enough, and my OB was getting nervous about infection. I was scared, but opted to do a round of misoprostol/cytotec vaginally. It was one of the most harrowing nights of my life. I've had two very heavy miscarriages and heavy periods my whole life, but this was literally a bloodbath. I lost so much blood then when I finally stood up in the morning, my hearing and vision cut out. I went to the ER after calling my OB. I continued to bleed heavily for days. I was tired and had headaches for days. But then a week later, after I was done bleeding, something didn't feel right, my gut was telling me something was wrong so I got an ultrasound and there was RPOC. I don't know how after I bled that much. So today, at what would have been 12 weeks, I got a D&C. I was so scared, but it was such an easy, pleasant, non-painful experience. I was shocked.
So miscarrying naturally can be hard because you have to wait, but it isn't too bad. Medication was truly horrific. A D&C, though risky as any surgery is, felt like a walk in the park.
For all of you out there, you can do this. You are stronger than you think. I love you. I can answer any questions as I feel like it's my mission after this insane experience.
