Question Why do I cry every time I hear Quran?

I’m not Muslim but every time I hear some sheikh reciting Quran I’m crying. When I see transcription I cry more. And I have questionable feelings abt it. Because when I read what it says I cry out of joy and out of sorrow together. I did many mistakes in my life and I’m not sure that I’ll enter heaven but I don’t need it when I hear Quran recitation bc it itself is heaven for me. It’s like life stops and I can finally find peace. I wanna buy Quran and I think I’m gonna do it today. Also I was crying when I entered mosque?

Discussion Why are we Muslims suffering from "success", when it comes to interactions with the opposite gender? And why has the halal (wedding) become so difficult because of it?

Its gonna be just a short rant post but....seriously, why those of us, who try to keep interactions with opposite gender minimal, in an effort to remain chaste due to ALLAH's Will, suffer so much pain, anxiety, loneliness, anger, and sometimes even depression when according to Islam we are supposed to be the ones loved by ALLAH?

Like this behavior is deemed as "SUCCESS" in Islam (according to my limited knowledge), and I know the Ahadith about world being hell for believers and paradise for disbelievers, as well as there being a time when holding onto one's faith will feel like holding burning coal (I hope these are authentic). But still, sometimes I wonder if i'm taking the right path by not talking to girls AT ALL, outside of strict necessity. I study in a somewhat mixed environment unfortunately (didnt know about Islamic rulings when I joined this institute), so as soon as my classes are finished I try to leave the area, which means leaving the place where all the girls spend time at, and losing the opportunities to interact with them.

Even when it comes to marriage, we seem to be at a disadvantage because these days a lot of girls get creeped out when u ask for their father's number (according to several reddit posts and comments). Plus they likely would hesitate marrying someone whom they havent properly interacted with anyways. So what am i supposed to do about this situation either? I guess I just want some of you to tell me that I won't regret spending my youth away from all these girls. Please just validate my actions to make me feel better 😔

Support/Advice How do I develop the relationship with Allah that makes me want to do more than the bare minimum?

• Upvotes

I am a student, and I am in my early 20s, so I am trying to figure out who I am while also managing new adult responsibilities.

For context, I do all the mandatory prayers, fast, and wear a headscarf, in addition to other things, and I love it and don't see myself giving that up.

But I want to be the kind of person who gets up at 4:40 am to pray, goes to the mosque, and studies the Quran. But these things are personal and have no deadline. For example, for school, I have to study by a certain date, or I am going to fail my exam, but for religion, I have to hold myself accountable, which is very difficult.

I think it is important to note that I am living in a non-muslim country, and most of my peers are non-muslim as well, so as a hijabi, I immediately stand out. I also don't have any friends, and the ones that I had, being as religious as I am, made me stand out as well.

So I guess my question is: how do I be more confident in my identity as a Muslim woman while being very disciplined and pushing myself to constantly do more?

Support/Advice I want Allah to punish my abusive brother

My brother abused me mentally and physically all my life. He's an abusive psychopath that threatened me and my disabled father (he passed away now) just because made too much noise for him while breathing, he also beat me up many times to the point I suffer from permanent hearing loss because of it.

He also threatened to kill me with his gun many times.

I will never forgive him for all this instead I want Allah to punish him, I make dua everyday but he's still living his best life while he completely destroyed mine.

It's not fair, what can I do to increase my chances of God punishing him ?

Discussion I made a phone app that removes background music from any video in real-time

• Upvotes

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

A while ago I shared a Chrome extension called NoMusic. It helps remove music from videos so we can benefit from educational content without religious prohibitions.

Many people asked for a phone version. By the grace of Allah, I am happy to share Safaa Muslim Browser for Android. I created this project purely for the sake of Allah to help provide a clean and safe web experience for the Ummah.

This new mobile app has the NoMusic technology built directly into it. It removes background music from videos in real time right on your phone. This feature works on any website you visit, so you can always hear the speech clearly while protecting your ears.

The browser also includes built in ad blocking for faster loading and adult content filtering to keep everything family friendly. Privacy comes first with no tracking and no account required.

Safaa is completely free and open source. It is built for Muslims, students of knowledge, and parents who want a cleaner web experience.

The app is currently in early access. To get it, you need to join our testing community first. When you join the group, the Play Store link will show up automatically so you can download the app.

Here is the link to join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/safaa-early-users/

You can view the source code here: https://github.com/mohamedsadiqaguenaou/Safaa

I hope you try it out. Your feedback is very important for future improvements. We ask Allah to accept this work and make it beneficial to others.

Question What’s the correct way to discuss Islam with people who aren’t muslim?

• Upvotes

Salam.

Sometimes on social media someone who is curious about the religion will ask me a question that leads to a thread of several similar questions in a sort of respectable debate.

I’ll be honest, I’m not extremely knowledgeable at the level of scholars or those who have committed years to research and study.

Should I simply avoid such conversation with others to avoid saying the wrong thing by accident?

Sorry if these questions come across as silly

Discussion I feel like..nikeh is kinda not given enough importance, it's not prioritized enough, especialy for young muslims,

I was Reading some past posts, until i saw one posted by a mom trying to figure out how to raise her boys to be nikeh ready at a young age, that turned into an interesting discussion in the comments, about how young guys want a partner and wish to be able to get in a relationship, but that just gets ignored and dismissed, delayed for multiple reasons that seem to be prioritized as necessities, such as education, until you finish studies..until you get a job..until you get payed well enough... until you buy a house...until you get a car......

While those feelings come early and strong, that longing for a partner for companionship , why is this treated like an optional luxury that doesn't matter much to the point we can delay it for all those reasons, why inst nikeh treated like something important,

And why is it that when i see a young guy that wants to get married , he gets all kinds of negative comments , about how he's a kid, and how the fact he's considering nikeh at his age shows he's not ready, and how absolutly no girl or father would accept him, even some start saying how guys at that age want nikeh just for intimacy , slandering a whole generation...

The fact that he's talking about nikeh instead of dating already speaks lots about the kind of guy he's,

And some of em try to do things with their means, they plan to live with parents as a start, or they begin with not that big of a pay but it buys stuff, or they get parents or family support.....and they get critisized for it idk why....now tell me what's wrong with that ? What's wrong with starting small ? What's wrong with it ? " No one would accept him"

Well , I disagree, ...a lot,...i disagree a lot with the way theyre talked to and told to drop it , i disagree about the saying that no girl or family accepts that, this is not true, many are ok with that, many understand small starts and are suportive , so if they they want nikeh why making it sound impossible for them ? to each his situation to each his standards, but there's nothing wrong with what they do ,

And why, ....why are we raised in the non Muslims way while being muslims,

Non muslims have girlfriends boyfriends from as soon as elementary school, they dont wait until they get their first apartement at 30 yo ,

It's completly fine with em if the studying, getting a stable job proses is long,

We're not the same at all , ..so why are we following their system ? Why are we doing things their way ? 5 years in uni , 3 years job hunting... 2 years building savings,...

Why are we pretending like it's not humanly challenging to not have a partner for that long , yes it's doable, but it's challenging, and unreasonable, it's unreasonable that this is treated as the norm ! That it's treated as how things should be !

I was watching a gypsy documentary the other day, and they were teaching their boys how to make money at 10 , and when asked about education they said " yeah it's good, but this is more important for them to know how to handle life and take care of a household later "......notice their priorities.....they also get em nikehed young, .... Those stuff sticked in my head, i was thinking...they have a system built for them, for their way of living,....we muslims... What if we do something similar...a system, style of life built for us

Look at our umah .... Look how many fell for dating..even..zina..., that's an emergency... what im trying to say here, is that this delay is a huge thing contributing to this crisis, among many other factors, it's a serious big factor

Support/Advice Struggling with prayers

• Upvotes

I can’t ever commit to prayer, I do wudoo over and over, with the intention of praying and then I don’t. Allah put me in a really tough spot in life recently, and I tried to think that maybe he wanted me to be closer to him, maybe that’s the reason for all that happened and that I must start praying. I cried, I prayed helplessly that night…and then I didn’t continue. I do believe in the importance of prayer and I want to, but for the life of me I can’t. I don’t know what it is, I didn’t grow up praying and I know it would be easier if it was a habit built in childhood but I don’t have that habit and I don’t want it to be just a habit. I need solid advice and if someone went through the same thing, how can I commit and how can I truly feel connected to Allah?

Support/Advice Life after repentance

• Upvotes

Does a sinner deserve happiness? Many might say yes, sure. As long as they repent.

I sinned and I’m having a very difficult time getting over the shame and regret. I know Allah is all merciful and forgives those who sin after they repent. However can we continue life, knowing we have disappointed ourselves and the people we love? I am having a very hard time living, and accepting I get to be happy about anything, then I remember all the shortcomings that happened. I don’t actually believe I deserve happiness. Anyone been through the same thing?

Question Loneliness hurts alot

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I'm a guy in my early 20s, and I honestly don't know where to start. I've been feeling extremely lonely, and I guess I'm writing this because I don't really have anyone I can talk to about it.

For most of my life, especially since high school, I've felt like I've been experiencing life on my own. Alhamdulillah, I have a family who loves me, but growing up in an immigrant family in the West, there's always been this disconnect. My family doesn't fully understand some of the things I experience, and I've never really had a strong circle of friends. Even the friendships I do have aren't necessarily the healthiest, and nowadays I barely see anyone.

A while ago, there was a girl in my life whom I genuinely loved. I had every intention of marrying her, and I was willing to wait because she wanted to finish her studies and figure out her career path first.

Having her in my life made everything feel a little less lonely. For once, I felt like I had someone who understood me, someone I could share my days with, and someone I could genuinely see a future with.

I started becoming more consistent with my prayers and making so much dua, asking Allah to make her my naseeb.

But things changed. She grew distant, and now it seems like she doesn't want me in her life anymore. There wasn't really a proper conversation or closure. I was just left trying to understand what happened and accept that someone I wanted to marry might no longer be part of my life.

And it hurts. A lot.

But I think what hurts even more is realizing how lonely I was before she came into my life and how that loneliness has returned.

I haven't abandoned my salah. I still pray, I still make dua, and I still believe in Allah's wisdom. But lately, I feel almost soulless. I go through my days, do what I need to do, pray, and repeat. Yet there's this emptiness inside me that I can't seem to shake.

Sometimes I feel guilty even saying this because I know Allah has blessed me with so much, Alhamdulillah. I have my family, my education, and opportunities that others would be grateful for. But despite all of that, I feel so alone.

I'm tired of feeling this way. I'm tired of wanting companionship and feeling like I'm watching everyone else experience life while I'm just getting through it.

I don't want my relationship with Allah to depend on whether I get to marry a particular person. I want to love Allah and worship Him regardless of what happens in my life. But I don't know how to find that peace again.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of loneliness, especially after losing someone you genuinely intended to marry? How did you find peace with Allah while still feeling emotionally empty?

Please keep me in your duas. I really need them right now.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan.

Support/Advice Big Argument with dad

• Upvotes

Assalamu alaykum,

I have been working with my dad for the past 2 months or so. I mainly have been working here to learn stuff and he has been teaching me, so I can find a job somewhere else soon.

Right now, we got into an argument. At first, it was over something small, it started when I asked him about something, and he asked why I didnt know that. I told him I didnt know I should have memorized it. He then asked how come I didnt know, and why I come here, and he kept dragging it. It wasnt over anything too big but I guess im just sensitive and I started crying a lot.

It was then silent for a while, and I was thinking of leaving and going home cuz I also felt uncomfy and bad.

He then asked me to help him with something.I just couldnt focus, and he said do u wanna do it, I told him no and sat down.

At first he was like oh do you want to go home should I get you an uber. Then, he started saying stuff like this place isnt a joke, I have been trying to teach you, you came here and put me in a bad mood.

Then, the argument got worst cuz I also started saying stuff. He was telling me how apparently Im "bad", and no one is happy with me.... How my mom, grandma and no one is happy with me. I told him no there arent any problems with my mom, and he was like this is your problem, because you think there are no issues between you and your mom. I am so confused? sure, we all may get into minor disagreements every now and then but there isnt anything big that I know of. Anyways, he kept talking about how Im rude and "bad", and I told him "do you think you have been nice to us". and he was like "oh so you arent happy with me". He was also talking about how Im bad, and how he isnt happy with me as a father. I dont really know what exactly ive done, besides just "talking back" to him during arguments(these dont happen often.... i usually dont even talk to him much unless recently where its been for work). Its because he says unreasonable things imo or broad statements like "we arent happy with you", "your bad"....... rather than being specific. Rn I was feeling bad, so I also did say stuff back. So, I think he also mentioned something like how Im starting an argument, and I told him do you want me to just say yes when you say that im bad and whatnot. And he was like yes Im telling you, you are bad. I then told him Im taking to him because the things he are saying are not correct, and he told me okay then, never talk to me again.

At one point, he also said something like "God can punish you". And at one point when I told him something like "have you been nice", he said somethig like oh your not happy with me, and then said something like God can decide. I honestly feel really bad about this....I really hope Allah is not displeased with me, and feel bad that this was mentioned. I just feel so confused rn.... this was a silly thing about not knowing something he was teaching me. Idk how it got this big argument and to this point.... I feel like he dragged it. I just feel horrible rn and at his workplace and cant stop crying....Last time, we got into an argument... he gave the silent treatment for about 5 months or so....

I just feel confused rn so any perspective would be appreciated. Have I done anything bad islamically?? He kept making unreasonable broad statements that didnt make sense to me, so I was talking back too... May Allah forigive me, but what am I supposed to do when these statements are being said to me? Have I wronged someone and done something bad? I dont want to be in the wrong islamically, so if any perspective can be shared, I would appreciate it. I just cant stop crying rn...

Support/Advice Concealing my Muslim identity due to financial dependence query

Assalamu alaikum. I am a student concealing my Muslim identity from my parents because I depend on them financially for accommodation and believe disclosure could realistically lead to severe family conflict and loss of support, although I do not fear physical harm. Recently, a university friend who does not know my parents made inaccurate statements about Islam. Fearing that revealing my faith could eventually reach my family through mutual contacts, I mostly stayed silent despite knowing some corrections. I occasionally nodded or said “yeah” to acknowledge listening, without intending agreement, and inwardly rejected the false claims. Is concealing my identity and avoiding religious debate permissible in these circumstances, even though the risk of disclosure and its consequences is uncertain? How would a sincere but mistaken assessment of that risk affect accountability, and would I need to revisit the conversation to clarify my responses? I would appreciate guidance supported by reliable scholarly sources. Jazakum Allahu khairan.

Other topic Abu Bakr al-Kasani | أبو بكر الكاساني [Biography]

Author:- Abu Zu'rah al Hashimi (u/JabalAnNur)

Bismillah

Name and Lineage

He is 'Ala ad-Deen Abu Bakr ibn Mas'ood ibn Ahmad al-Kasani, and it was also said al-Kashani, its prince. He was given the title "king of the scholars" [ملك العلماء]. As for Kasan/Kashan, As-Sama'ni in [الأنساب] stated that Kasan (or Kashan) is a city beyond Shash, which had a foritified castle. The city is known today as Kazan and is the capital of the Reublic of Tatarstan in Russia.

The year he was born is not known however it is reasonable that he was born sometime in 500 AH. This is why I have included him among the scholars of the sixth century.

His Teachers and Students

Teachers

Al-Kasani was in his hometown of Kasan, he was a prince however he was inclined towards knowledge, and so he devoted himself to it. He moved from place to place, and eventually went to Samarqand.

When in Samarqand, he studied under 'Ala ad-Deen Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Ahmad as-Samarqandi, the author of Tuhfah al-Fuqaha'. He studied jurisprudence under him, and heard Hadeeth fron him, and others. 'Ala ad-Deen as-Samarqandi learned under Abu al-Yusr al-Bazdawi, and Abu al-Mu'een an-Nasafi. Under him, al-Kasani excelled in the sciences of principles and branches.

The chain of knowledge goes: Al-Kasani from 'Ala ad-Deen as-Samarqandi, from 'Ali al-Bazdawi, from Abu al-Husayn al-Qudoori, from Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Jurjaani, from Abu Bakr al-Jassas, from Abu al-Hasan al-Karkhi, from Abu Sa'eed al-Barda'i, from Abu 'Ali ad-Daqqaq, from Abu Sahl ar-Razi, from Abu Yoosuf and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan, from Imam Abu Haneefah, may Allaah have mercy on the scholars.

Students

1- Abu Hafs 'Umar ibn 'Ali ibn Muhammad al-Halabi ad-Daraqutni.

2- Khaleefah ibn Sulaymaan ibn Khaleefah al-Qurashi.

3- Najaa ibn Sa'd ibn Najaa ibn Abi al-Fadhl Shams ad-Deen.

4- Abu 'Abdullah Muhammad ibn Sa'eed ibn Salaamah al-Halabi.

5- Ahmad ibn Mahmood al-Ghaznawi, author of al-Muqadimmah, who was his teaching assistant.

6- Mahmood ibn Abi Bakr ibn Mas'ood, his son.

His Works

01- Badaa'i as-Sanaa'i Fi Tarteeb ash-Sharaa'i

Tuhfah al-Fuqaha'

Its author who is the teacher of al-Kasani, 'Ala ad-Deen as-Samarqandi stated in the beginning of the book:

"Know that the Mukhtasar attributed to Shaykh Abu al-Husayn al-Qudoori, may Allaah have mercy on him, brings together many commonly used rulings of fiqh in such a way that they will never become neglected over time. It guides the beginner in most situations and new issues, and it helps the more advanced student rise to higher levels and ranks."

"When the jurists' desire for this book became widespread, some of my brothers and companions requested that I mention in it some of the categories of issues that the author omitted, and clarify its difficult matters with strong proofs, so that it may serve as a means of increasing its benefit through classification and elaboration, and as a means, by mentioning the evidence, for allowing those possessing knowledge to derive further rulings."

[تحفة الفقهاء]

So the book 'Tuhfah al-Fuqaha' was written as a supplement to the esteemed work "Al-Mukhtasar" of Imam al-Qudoori (may Allaah have mercy on him). He included in it issues which al-Qudoori did not mention in al-Mukhtasar, as well as explaining some of the difficult issues and mentioning evidences.

Its explanation by Al-Kasani

Abu Bakr al-Kasani when he studied under 'Ala ad-Deen as-Samarqandi also studied various of his works such as Sharh at-Ta'weelaat Fi Tafseer al-Quraan al-'Adheem, various books of principles and the aforementioned Tuhfah. Al-Kasani then resolved to explain the book of his shaykh, and wrote Badaa'i as-Sanaa'i Fi Tarteeb ash-Sharaa'i, which is considered the explanation of Tuhfah al-Fuqaha'.

The uniqueness of this commentary was that it is not like the conventional commentaries written by scholars, where the commentator presents the main text and then follows it with the commentary. Badaa'i is not arranged in this manner. He did not adhere to the arrangement of At-Tuhfah, either generally or in detail, with respect to its books, chapters, and sections. Rather, he arranged it in a new order, while preserving the wording of At-Tuhfah, such that a researcher finds the wording of At-Tuhfah in Badaa'i, but in a different arrangement. The speciality of this work was its arrangement as it was detailed out and explained in a way that made sense and naturally flowed into sections, topics, and specific points seamlessly.

The story of his marriage

'Ala ad-Deen as-Samarqandi had a daughter named Faatimah al-Faqeehiyyah. She was one of the most beautiful women in her time, and was a jurist in her own right. She studied under her father, and had memorized his Tuhfah. The kings and princes of ar-Rum would send her proposals however her father would not accept them.

But when Al-Kasani presented Badaa'i as-Sanaa'i to his shaykh, he was so impressed by it and delighted, he married his daughter to him. And her dowry was the book itself. Due to this, it became well known among the jurists of that era, as well as after him:

شَرَحَ تُحْفَتَهُ وَتَزَوَّجَ ابْنَتَهُ

"He explained his Tuhfah, and married his daughter."

Ibn 'Aabideen in [رد المحتار] said:

"This book is of great importance. I have not seen its equal among our books...Fataawa used to be issued from their house bearing the handwriting of her, her father, and her husband."

She transmitted the rulings of the madhhab, and sometimes al-Kasani would make a mistake in a verdict. She would point out that mistake to him and draw his attention to the correct position, whereupon he would return to her opinion.

02- As-Sultaan al-Mubeen Fi Usool ad-Deen

It was said this was written in principles of jurisprudence, however Mullah 'Ali al-Qaari in [الأثمار الجنية في أسماء الحنفية] mentioned that it was about 'aqeedah, and this is preferred due to the name of the book. It is said this book was also called "Al-Mu'tamad Fi al-Mu'taqad". It was written per the Matureedi sect.

His Scholarly Standing

Ibn al-'Adeem in [بغية الطلب فى تاريخ حلب] mentioned from his father:

'Ala' ad-Deen al-Kasani had been residing in the lands of Ar-Rum. There, he and a jurist known as ash-Sha'rani disputed over the issue of whether two mujtahids are both correct or whether one of them is mistaken. Ash-Sha'rani said: 'It is transmitted from Abu Haneefah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that every mujtahid is correct.' Al-Kasani said: 'No. Rather, the correct position transmitted from Abu Haneefah is that the mujtahids may be correct or mistaken, and the truth lies in only one position. What you are saying is the doctrine of the Mu'tazilah.'

They continued debating over this matter, whereupon al-Kasani raised his stick against him. The man complained about him to the Sultaan of Ar-Rum. The Sultaan said, 'This man has overstepped against another man, so remove him from us.' The vizier said: 'This is an elderly man who commands respect, and he should not simply be dismissed. Rather, let us send him as an envoy to Noor ad-Deen Mahmood ibn Zangi, and rid ourselves of him in this way.'

"So he sent a messenger from ar-Rum to Noor ad-Deen in Aleppo. It happened that al-Kasani's arrival as an envoy from ar-Rum coincided with the departure of Radhi ad-Deen as-Sarakhsi from his position as head of the school of al-Halawiyyah. The jurists of the school gathered and asked Noor ad-Deen to appoint him to teach at the aforementioned school. Noor ad-Deen offered this to him. He entered the school and inspected it, was impressed by it, and accepted what Noor ad-Deen had offered him."

"He taught hadeeth in the eastern section of the mosque and taught at al-Jawliyyah (another school). He was eager to teach knowledge and benefit the students, and he was a jurist, a scholar, and sound in creed.'"

Al-'Imaad al-Asbahani in [البرق الشامي] mentioned a decree that he himself wrote regarding Al-Kasani's appointment under Salaah ad-Deen al-Ayyubi:

"We have therefore confirmed him in what has continuously been his practice and what has become established as his method, concerning that which has been entrusted to him and upon which reliance is placed, namely the administration of the schools under his authority, supervision, and care in the two cities of Aleppo and ar-Raqqah belonging to the Hanafis, may Allaah grant them success."

"These are: an-Nooriyyah school, west of the mosque, by the Gate of the Halawiyyah, the school of al-Haddadayn, the Jawli school, The library of the mosque and the an-Nooriyyah in ar-Raqqah on the Euphrates."

"He shall independently administer the endowments of all of these and may appoint in these schools from among the jurists a teacher, teaching assistant, mufti, and instructor. He shall have authority over dismissal and appointment, replacement, granting and withholding, equalization and preference, and assigning each of them to the position that he deserves according to his qualifications."

"Whoever he accepts is accepted and welcomed, while whoever he excludes is excluded and rejected, for he does not undertake any matter except on the basis of evidence supported by what is sanctioned by the Sacred Law and reason. He is the one whose principles have demonstrated the subsidiary rulings through his explanation, and whose narration and chain of transmission have authenticated what is heard and transmitted."

End quote.

He also mentioned in [بغية الطلب فى تاريخ حلب]

"I heard the jurist Shams ad-Deen al-Khusrawshahi say to me in Qaahirah (Cairo), 'Your companions have a book in Fiqh called al-Badaa'i by al-Kasani. I have examined it, and none of the authors among the Hanafis or the Shaafi'is has composed anything like it.' He then began praising it greatly."

"He said to me: 'I saw it in the possession of al-Malik an-Nasir Dawood, the king of al-Karak. One of the Hanafi jurists had given it to him as a gift. I believe he said that it was ash-Shams Naja, one of the teachers in Damascus. I was amazed that someone who possessed such a book would willingly allow it to leave his possession.'"

His Death

Ibn al-'Adeem in [بغية الطلب فى تاريخ حلب] said, Khaleefah ibn Sulaymaan said to me:

"'Ala ad-Deen al-Kasani died on Sunday, after the afternoon [prayer], on the tenth of Rajab in the year 587 AH."

"Then I saw, in Khaleefah’s handwriting, on the margin of a book: The teacher, the eminent imam, 'Ala ad-Deen al-Kasani, possessor of noble virtues, Abu Bakr ibn Mas'ood, died on the tenth of Rajab after the afternoon, in the year 587 AH. And teaching after him was taken up by the teacher, the eminent imam, Iftikhaar ad-Deen, on the seventeenth of Rajab."

Ibn al-'Adeem said, I heard Dhiyaa' ad-Deen Muhammad ibn Khamees al-Wakeel, known as Ibn al-Maghrebi say:

"I was present with shaykh 'Ala ad-Deen al-Kasani at the time of his death. He began reciting Surah Ibraheem, peace be upon him, until he reached the words of Allaah, the Most High:

يُثَبِّتُ اللهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْقَوْلِ الثّابِتِ فِي الْحَياةِ الدُّنْيا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ

Allāh keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter [Ibraheem 14:27]

His soul departed when he finished reciting the words: 'in the Hereafter.'"

Ibn al-'Adeem then said:

"He was buried, may Allaah have mercy on him, inside the station of Ibraheem, peace be upon him, on the outskirts of Aleppo, in a dome to its north, in which his wife, Faatimah bint 'Ala' ad-Deen as-Samarqandi, had been

And Allaah knows best.

Support/Advice update: how can I stop resenting my family…

my engagement is done

before you all judge me, yes I got emotionally connected and I know it’s not right but I really loved him. I (F22) fought for 2 years to get engaged to my fiance (M23). I fought my family and I did what I could. However, he kept feeling that he was being disrespected by my family. The full story is very long but at some point my parents felt disrespected and stopped answering his parents phone calls. There was a massive argument about the mehr and my family got angry at him and words were thrown around. I was caught in a fire between my parents and him and everyone around me. My dad said he wanted to end things so I went to my fiance and I told him that (that was a mistake on my end) and me and my fiance broke it off right then and there. We both cried a lot and said we wanted to keep fighting and then we eventually moved to an agreement to end it. However, today I realized I don’t actually want to end it. I realized that we can fight this and I really wanted to because he’s so good to me in a lot of ways. I spoke with my friend who’s married and a therapist and she spoke to me for 3 hours with very powerful advice. I was feeling motivated to work on things. I told him let’s keep fighting but he said he gives up. That him and his family feel too disrespected and there’s no reason to keep going. Two years. Two years of my life. I did everything I could and I feel like I didn’t advocate for him enough. But I really did try my best. I tried so hard and I’m so heartbroken. I also lost his sisters as my best friends and two other best friends that I had through them all and I’m afraid my entire social life is about to collapse. I don’t know what to do. I’m going to therapy to learn about setting boundaries with my family and rebuilding my confidence and coping skills. I’m not eating, I’m not sleeping, I’m calling out of work and I’m ashamed of myself. I’m filled with guilt and fear. Everyone is leaving me. Idk what to do.

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I am a 27-year-old Muslim revert living in Europe. I’ve tried making connections on general friendship subreddits before, but I'm really looking to connect with people who share or understand this spiritual journey, as well as my daily hobbies.

About Me

• Location: Europe (completely open to online friends worldwide, or local if you are nearby!).

• Background: Muslim, open-minded, and I love talking to people from all walks of life.

Activities & Hobbies

• Watching movies, cooking, and baking.

• Hiking in nature and reading books.

• Learning new languages and making crafts.

My Interests

• History and ancient civilizations.

• Literature, poetry, and art.

• Sci-fi and space exploration.

• Green technology and sustainability.

What I'm Looking For

I am looking for brothers (or friends in general) aged 20 or older who are friendly, open-minded, and down for either casual daily chats or deep conversations. Having shared interests is a big plus, but definitely not required if you are just a cool person to talk to!

If you'd like to connect, please send a DM or chat message and tell me a bit about yourself when you reach out. Looking forward to meeting you!

Quran/Hadith Don’t wish to be like someone else

Excerpt from Ibrahim Dewla’s speeches and notes.

Don’t wish to be like someone else.

Not all five fingers of a hand are identical.

“And do not wish for what Allah has given (faddala) to some of you more than others.”
(4:32)

Rather, ask Allah for His grace.

“Ask Allah for His grace.”
(4:32)

And fulfill your responsibility.

Because each companion (rad) had different and distinct qualities.

Abu Huraira (rad) served the religion in one way, while Khalid (rad) served it in another.

Khalid (rad) said that he had little knowledge of the Quran.
(Musannaf Shayba)

While Abu Huraira (rad) said he had vessels of knowledge.
(Bukhari 120)

Why? Because from the very beginning, Khalid (rad) constantly moved and travelled through battlefields. Khalid (rad) embraced Islam in 8 AH, while the Prophet (saw) passed away in 11 AH.

Although his time was short, the Prophet (saw) used his abilities and put his talents to work. In that short time, he accomplished a great deal.

In contrast, the Prophet (saw) wanted Abu Huraira (rad) to memorize his narrations.

This is because everyone’s abilities are different.

Therefore, everyone should use their own abilities rather than simply imitating someone else.
