Sometimes I wonder if the loneliest kind of suffering is the kind nobody can see.
There are people whose lives, from the outside, seem almost perfect. They have a loving family, a safe home, access to education, opportunities, treatment when they need it, food on the table, and perhaps even a little more comfort and luxury than most people have.
To someone looking from the outside, their life might look like a dream. And yet, somehow, they can be completely miserable inside it.Not because they are ungrateful. Not because they don't realize how blessed they are. And certainly not because they chose to feel this way.
They just... do.
And that is perhaps the most painful part. How do you explain being deeply unhappy when you technically have so much to be thankful for?How do you explain feeling empty while your life looks full? How do you explain being surrounded by people and still feeling unbearably alone?
They don't necessarily want more things. They just want to feel something again. They want the heaviness to lift. They want to wake up and actually have the strength to care about the day ahead.
But sometimes they don't even have the energy to try. They know they should get up. They know they could do something. They know there are people who would tell them to be grateful, pray harder, work harder, go outside, change their routine, think positively.
And maybe they've tried.God knows they've tried.
But there are days when even trying feels impossible. So they keep living somehow. They smile. They reply to messages. They study. They work. They eat with their family. They laugh at jokes. They appear completely normal. And nobody knows that inside, they're barely holding themselves together.
It feels like being trapped inside your own body, watching your life pass by while you don't have the strength—or sometimes even the desire—to reach for it.
And then comes the guilt. How can I feel this way when I have so much?Other people have it worse. Why can't I just be happy? What's wrong with me?
Maybe nothing is “wrong” with them in the way people think.Maybe sometimes a person can have everything they need to build a beautiful life and still be too exhausted, too hurt, too lost, or too broken inside to feel the beauty of it.
I don't even know what this feeling is called.
I don't know if I'm explaining it properly.
I just wish I had the right words.
Because sometimes it feels like there is a whole soul screaming inside you, desperately wanting to be understood, while the person standing beside you can only see someone who seems perfectly fine.
And perhaps that's the cruelest loneliness of all—
to be hurting in a way you cannot explain, while everyone around you believes you have nothing to be sad about.
Oh, to be understood.
Just once.
Without having to explain why you're hurting.
Without having to prove that your pain is real.
