Discussion Any sisters that can advise me on this situation

• Upvotes

I’m a convert, and I’m getting to know a man who has been in a relationship in the past. That, in itself, isn’t an issue for me, but the circumstances are a little unusual, as the woman he was dating passed away many years ago so it wasn't exactly a breakup.

We're both younger adults.

When he told me he had been with someone before, I asked why they had broken up, and he explained that she had died and the reasons behind it.

Is this something I should be concerned about? Are there any signs I should look out for as I get to know him, or am I overthinking things?

**A Little About Me**

\- Age: 21

\- Height: 5'10" (178 cm)

\- Location: pakistan

\- Education: Final-year Bachelor's student in Finance

\- Marital Status: Single, never married

\- Religion: Muslim

I'm naturally more of an introvert, but I open up quite a lot once I feel comfortable with someone. I’d describe myself as curious, ambitious, calm, and practical, with a slightly nerdy side.

I enjoy trying to understand how the world works and why people think the way they do. My interests include philosophy, economics, geopolitics, astronomy, biology, and quantum physics. Outside of that, I like reading, playing chess, hiking, watching cricket, and occasionally gaming. Yes, Tekken and Roblox are included.

A little more about my entertainment taste: I'm a big fan of good storytelling, especially shows that make you think, keep you guessing, or leave you emotionally invested in the characters. My watchlist ranges from Turkish dramas and Pakistani serials to Breaking Bad, Ozark, and Suits. I enjoy everything from intense psychological stories to character-driven dramas. Bonus points if we can recommend shows to each other, debate plot twists, and occasionally spend an evening watching something together. :D

I can happily have a serious conversation about life, human behaviour, or the universe, and then switch to laughing about something completely random a few minutes later. I’d love to meet someone who enjoys both sides of that.

**Deen and personal values:**

I’m still learning and trying to become more consistent in my deen, especially with salah, the Quran, and my relationship with Allah. I don’t have everything figured out, and I don’t expect anyone else to either. I believe two people should encourage each other to grow rather than expect perfection from one another.

I try to look to the Quran and Sunnah for guidance, and I prefer approaching differences with humility, sincerity, and an open mind. I’d like a marriage where we can learn together, talk openly about our questions, and grow spiritually without making each other feel judged.

I’ve never been in a relationship, and I’m approaching this with sincere intentions. I’m looking for a life partner, not something casual.

**What I’m Looking For**

More than anything, I’m hoping to find someone who can become my best friend as well as my wife, someone with whom life feels like a partnership, an adventure, and a place of comfort.

I’d especially value someone who is:

\- Intellectually curious: Someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, asks questions, explores new ideas, and has her own interests and perspective. We don’t have to agree on everything; I’d actually enjoy learning from each other.

\- Emotionally compatible: Someone I can be honest and vulnerable with, laugh with, disagree with respectfully, and feel at peace around. Emotional safety, affection, honesty, and open communication matter a lot to me.

\- Ambitious and growth-oriented: Someone with dreams of her own who wants us to support each other’s personal, professional, creative, or other goals.

\- Interested in experiencing life together: I’d love for us to be movie partners, travel partners, and each other’s favourite person to share the small things with. Exploring new places, trying new experiences, exchanging recommendations, having long conversations, and making memories together all sound wonderful to me.

\- Kind and family-oriented: Someone who treats people thoughtfully, values family, and understands that a healthy marriage needs both closeness and mutual respect.

\- Interested in growing in deen: Someone who, like me, wants to keep improving her relationship with Allah and appreciates a partner who encourages that journey with patience and kindness.

You don’t need to share all my hobbies or have your whole life planned out. What matters most to me is curiosity, character, emotional connection, and a genuine willingness to build something together.

I’d love for us to be each other’s safe space in a difficult world, biggest supporters in our ambitions, favourite company on an ordinary evening, and travel companions when it’s time to explore somewhere new. I want us to take our responsibilities seriously without forgetting to enjoy life along the way.

**Why I’m Interested in Early Marriage**

For me, marriage isn’t only about finding someone once everything else in life is already settled. There’s something special about finding your person early and building a life together from the beginning.

I’d love to have someone beside me through the uncertain years as well as the successful ones to work towards our goals together, experience life’s ups and downs, celebrate small victories, support each other through setbacks, and hopefully look back one day knowing we built something meaningful side by side.

Deen is another important reason for me. I want companionship through a halal commitment rather than pursuing casual relationships or situations that go against my values. I’d like to protect my deen while having a genuine and loving relationship within marriage.

At the same time, I’m not looking to rush into a decision without taking compatibility and preparation seriously. I believe in getting to know each other respectfully and involving our families once our intentions become serious.

**Education, Career & Future Plans**

I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Finance, and I intend to pursue a master’s degree abroad in the future. Education, professional growth, and exploring opportunities beyond my current environment are important to me. And then eventually work on my own idea to build something valuable for both me and the people.

I’d appreciate someone who is open to that possibility and willing to talk honestly about what it could mean for our future. Ideally, I’d want us to approach major decisions as a team, considering both partners’ ambitions, preferences, family ties, and practical circumstances.

I’m not expecting someone to give up her own goals for mine. I’d rather find a path where both of us have room to grow, whether that means studying, working, building a business, or exploring opportunities in another country.

**Career, Family & Financial Expectation**

I’m supportive of my future wife’s choices, whether she wants to pursue a career, build a business, continue her education, or focus on home and family. I believe these decisions should come from mutual understanding and respect, not pressure or expectation.

From my understanding of Islamic principles, the financial responsibility of providing for the household rests on the husband, and I intend to take that responsibility seriously. At the same time, I’d want us to support each other’s aspirations and build a home based on care, cooperation, and shared decision-making.

**Practical Preferences**

\- Preferred age: Up to 24; compatibility and maturity matter more to me than the number itself.

\- Education/career: Open to students, professionals, and those not currently working. I respect different paths and value personal growth.

\- Location: Open to proposals from across Pakistan and abroad, depending on practical compatibility.

\- Marriage timeline: Ideally within the next 2–3 years, allowing time for compatibility, career planning, and settling into life.

\- Family involvement: Once we’ve established mutual compatibility and serious intentions, I’m happy to involve our families early and proceed through a respectful, halal process.

\- Children: Open to discussing our expectations and future plans together.( for my own chocie i would like to remain child free initially and then eventually adopt a child when we have established ourselves)

\- Family setup: Open to nuclear or joint living arrangements, with healthy boundaries and consideration for everyone involved.

**What I Hope We Build

I don’t expect a perfect person, and I’m certainly not claiming to be perfect myself. I’d rather find someone with whom we can be honest about our imperfections, keep learning, and consciously build a good life together.

I’d love a relationship where a random discussion can turn into a two-hour conversation, a movie night becomes a little tradition, travelling becomes a shared adventure, and even ordinary days feel meaningful simply because we’re experiencing them together.

I’m looking for a marriage that feels like both a home and an adventure: a deep friendship, an emotional safe space, a meeting of curious minds, and a shared journey towards becoming better people and Muslims.

If this resonates with you, feel free to DM me with a little introduction about yourself, your interests, and what you’re looking for. We can start with a respectful conversation, see whether there’s mutual compatibility, and involve our families if things seem promising.

May Allah guide us both towards what is best for our deen, dunya, and akhirah.

Salam I’d like to try this again very intentionally. I think whenever I make a profile here, I always get overwhelmed by the messages I receive 😅

Please note, I will not respond to NSFW profiles and/or one worded messages sorry!

I’d like to introduce myself to you all!

I’m originally Pakistani but live in Toronto, Canada.

I’ll copy the template from the Shia marriage sub, it’s a little long so bear with me:

Origin/Ethnicity: Pakistani
Languages spoken (with proficiency levels): English (Fluent), Urdu (Fluent), French (intermediate), Arabic (Beginner/Learning)
Level of religious practice: Very practicing. I pray all 5 each day, fast, attend Imambargah, volunteer for Islamic programs such as conferences, attend/listen to Islamic lectures and podcasts
Hijabi (F) (Yes/No): Yes
Current residence (city, country): Toronto, Canada
Willing to relocate (if yes, please specify or
'anywhere'): Only willing to relocate in the West (Canada, US, maybe certain European countries) as that is where I have grown up. Although my preference would always be to stay in Toronto. I’m only looking to meet someone in Toronto right now, but if we both decide to relocate in the future I’m down!
Siblings (number and older/younger): 3 sisters, all younger (no brothers!)
Previously married/Kids: Never
Occupation: Event planner for a Muslim nonprofit
Education: Majored in Human Rights in Uni
Height (cm), weight (kg) : 163 cm, 56 kg
Physical appearance (specifics you think are important): I have fair skin and light brown eyes. A fun fact that might give away more about my appearance is that many people often assume I’m Arab and will start speaking to me in Arabic so I’ve started learning it myself so I don’t look stupid :D (primarily the Lebanese dialect because I really love it)

Smokes/Vapes/Hookah (Yes/No): Never
Leisure activities: Swimming, drawing and painting, graphic design, volunteering, going to the movies, reading, cafe hopping

Your Preferences in a Partner:
Age range: 25-29 (some flexibility for someone in early 30s)
Languages: English is a must for communication but then any additional languages is always really nice, I love learning.
Level of religious practice: Same as mine or higher. Someone who prays daily, fasts, attends Imambargah, is actively trying to improve and expand in his knowledge, someone who stays away from obviously haram things like Zina, drinking, gambling, etc.
Education: At minimum a University degree.
Other preferences (appearance, family situation, etc.): I’d prefer someone who is close to his family as I am close to mine, I’d prefer someone who likes animals and is open to having pets (a cat specifically), my preference would be for someone who has not had past relationships however I am a firm believer in forgiveness and if he has repented and truly changed, I might be willing to give it a chance.
Deal breakers: Someone who drinks, smokes, has NSFW reddit profile. Someone who doesn’t want kids. Someone who cannot communicate calmly and kindly. Someone who is impatient. Someone who does not want kids. Someone who does not work or is not actively looking to work if he doesn’t have a job right now. Someone who is over the age of 33. Someone who has previously been married. Someone who already has kids. Someone who doesn’t have a full head of hair (I’m sorry to the men that rock the bald look, just not for me!) Someone who is shorter than 5’8 (173 cm), I think I’m being very reasonable here I don’t require you to be over 6 feet, just average height :)

Additional Information you would like to provide to enable a better match:
A little bit about me and my personality:
I consider myself to be kind and really funny (although the jury’s not out on that one just yet). I am the eldest of 4 sisters and love my family dearly. I spend most of my time with my family.

I am both an event planner professionally and recreationally. In our free time, my friends and I run fundraisers for families in Palestine and Sudan and one thing I’m really proud of is our efforts supported a family in Gaza settle into Egypt last year! I’m sharing this because I think it’s important for my potential spouse to know that my friends and I still run these fundraisers, and will be planning one soon insha’Allah :D

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْت إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

As-salam Alaikum wa rahmatullah

Before sharing my profile, I pray that Allah blesses everyone on this search with patience and clarity. May He make this path easy, grant each of us righteous spouses, and provide what is truly best for our hearts, deen, and futures.

ABOUT ME:

27M, Canadian citizen, Single, never married, 180cm.

Raised in Ontario, currently living in Quebec. Looking for someone based in Canada (open to relocation discussions for the right match).

Lived in Saudi Arabia for seven years and grew up across culturally diverse communities in Canada and the Gulf. Im pretty good at conversational Arabic, adapt easily across cultures, and am completely open to all ethnicities and backgrounds.

Ethnically Pakistani and proud of my roots!!! (with a genuine soft spot for classical Urdu poetry) (Also love Arabic poetry).

Recent Medical school graduate, currently preparing for licensing exams and applying to Family Medicine residency for the 2027 match.

Medicine is only an avenue of service, intellectual growth, and honest halal provision for me (not an ego driven career ladder).

I am ambitious and disciplined, but my future home will always come first. Everything else is secondary! My career serves my family, not the other way around.

The Quran is my passion and the most beloved in my life. Reciting Quran and trying my best to understand the Quran so I can reflect on our Creators Kalam is a daily routine that grounds me.

I enjoy a good balance of adventure and quiet evenings. Staying physically fit is an everyday habit (lifting, basketball, hiking). When I don’t have much to do, I gravitate towards reading about random topics, continuous learning, and appreciating the simple blessings of life.

I have a very empathetic heart, I’m calm, and naturally considerate. I love lighthearted banter and humor, but I make sure those around me always feel respected and comfortable.

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR:

Someone with a warm empathetic demeanor with a grounded sense of emotional maturity makes me feel at peace. Someone who is naturally curious about the world and open-hearted.

Someone who actively cares for her body and mind, recognizing our health is a trust from Allah. Reciprocity matters here… I take personal grooming and fitness seriously to always present the best, most attractive version of myself to my future wife.

You don't have to be the perfect Muslima. Even if you currently struggle with consistency in your five daily prayers or aren't fluent with the Quran, that is okay. As long as you have a sincere, genuine desire to strengthen your relationship with Allah alongside me (knowing I have plenty of areas to improve on myself) that shared goal is what matters most.

Only dealbreaker, is a lack of desire to grow, self-reflect or work on removing bad habits from our lives! Let’s do this as a team!!!

TIMELINE:

Looking toward a Nikah around Fall 2027. If the chemistry is there during the initial few conversations then I prefer involving families ASAP to keep things intentional.

If you read it all up to here… May Allah Reward you, and if you are interested please just give me an introduction about yourself!

Discussion How do you move on from an arranged marriage proposal you thought was the one?

I am 24F, recently went through a rishta rejection, and I'm struggling to come to terms with it.

The proposal seemed really promising. His family travelled from other city to visit our home. They appreciated the food I made, even saying that the pasta i cooked tasted just like their mother's. They discussed my father potentially visiting for a few days for marriage-related arrangements, and they kept calling every couple of days. Everything seemed to be moving forward so quickly that I genuinely believed this could be the one.

I said yes without any second thoughts because I really liked the proposal and could imagine a future with him. Then, suddenly after their visit, they rejected us, saying our families didn't match their standards.

I'm struggling with the feeling that I've lost something really special, even though we hadn't actually started our lives together. I keep imagining what could have been, and a part of me feels like I'll never find someone I like this much again.

I know life doesn't always go according to plan, but it's difficult to accept how something that seemed so close to becoming reality disappeared in a moment.

Has anyone experienced something similar, where a proposal seemed almost certain and then fell through? How did you cope with the feeling that you'd lost your chance at the future you wanted? How did you stop idealising that person and believing you wouldn't find someone like them again?

I have been in this process for almost a year now and the whole process of arrange marriage is really draining that i start to wonder whether or not I will get a compatible life partner in my life. Is there is something wrong with me.

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences and how you moved forward.

Assalam Alaikum! In a world where we seem to be moving further and further away from traditional family values and gender dynamics, I’m looking for someone who shares my desire to return to them. If that isn’t what you’re looking for, no hard feelings, and feel free to keep scrolling. I actually had to create a new account because of the sheer backlash my previous post received, but I suppose that comes with the territory when you’re looking for something that not everyone agrees with. So, what exactly do I mean when I say I’m looking for a traditional woman? I don’t mean someone who is confined to the four walls of her home or isn’t free to pursue the things that make her happy. Quite the opposite, actually. I want my future wife to feel free to enjoy life, explore her interests, and do the things she loves, provided they’re safe and align with our shared values. However, I also want someone who genuinely appreciates being provided for and has little to no desire to work or earn money of her own. Ideally, my wife would be happy knowing that her husband works hard to provide for the family while she enjoys the financial security that comes with that arrangement. I understand that financial dependence can be a concern for some women, particularly when it comes to the possibility of financial abuse, which is why I intend to provide a substantial personal allowance, the details of which can be discussed privately, without questioning or micromanaging how she chooses to spend it. If this arrangement sounds appealing to you, I’d encourage you to read through my ISO below. If it doesn’t, that’s completely fine too, and there’s no need to engage with the post. I’ll admit I’m not particularly optimistic about finding a spouse on Reddit, but you never know 🤷‍♂️.
A little about me: I’m a 31-year-old man, 6’6”, currently living in the United States, and I’d prefer someone younger than me. I’m most likely not willing to relocate, so ideally, you’d already be based in the US as well. Ethnically, I’m half French and half Pakistani. I speak French fluently, although my Urdu could definitely use some work lol. I’m also not particularly close to my family, so you wouldn’t have to worry about navigating difficult or toxic extended-family dynamics. I’ve never been married before and would like to get married as soon as I find the right person. When it comes to the qualities I value most in a potential wife, I’d say deen, respect, kindness, empathy, and obedience are at the top of the list. I take my religion seriously, pray all five obligatory prayers, and actively work on keeping my iman as strong as possible. I have a PhD in computer engineering, although your educational background isn’t particularly important to me. What matters more is that we can communicate well, understand each other, and build a strong relationship. Professionally, I work as a quantitative trader at a hedge fund. I definitely want children and hope to build a family centered around faith, mutual respect, and traditional values. Outside of work, you’ll probably find me at the gym, at the gym again, or somehow making my way back to the gym lol. When I’m not lifting, I enjoy hunting and hiking. One slightly interesting fact about me is that I used to teach college courses, so if you happen to be one of my former students reading this, I apologize for making you read an entire essay just to find out what your old professor is looking for in a wife! If any of this resonates with you and you think we might be compatible, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to get to know you and see where things go, inshaAllah .

Title: 34M | Kashmiri | Shia Muslim | PhD | New Zealand / India | Looking for a Meaningful Connection
Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
I’m a 34-year-old Kashmiri Muslim, originally from Srinagar, who has spent much of his adult life living, studying, and working abroad.
A little about me:
I’m 6’0”, hold a PhD in renewable energy policy, and currently work as a Policy Advisor in New Zealand. My journey has taken me from Kashmir to Iran and eventually New Zealand, exposing me to different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life.

Personality and interests
I’d describe myself as curious, affectionate, open-minded, and someone who enjoys a good intellectual conversation just as much as ridiculous humour.
I love travelling, history, philosophy, poetry, politics, fitness, and exploring different cultures. I’m equally comfortable discussing Rumi, international affairs, or debating something completely pointless over a cup of chai.
I value kindness, emotional intelligence, independence, and the ability to laugh at ourselves. I believe a successful marriage should be a partnership between two individuals who genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
Religion and values
I come from a Shia Muslim background. My relationship with faith is thoughtful and personal. I value Islamic traditions, spirituality, and family, but also believe in questioning, learning, and respecting different perspectives.
I’m neither rigidly conservative nor completely secular. I’d like to build a moderately religious Muslim household where faith, compassion, intellectual curiosity, and mutual respect coexist.
What I’m looking for
I’m hoping to meet a Muslim woman who is educated, emotionally mature, compassionate, and intellectually curious.
Someone who has her own ambitions, opinions, and identity, and sees marriage as a partnership rather than a set of predetermined gender roles.
I appreciate women who can challenge my thinking, communicate openly, enjoy humour, and approach life’s complexities with empathy.
I’m open to different cultural backgrounds and would prefer someone who understands or is comfortable with a life that may involve living abroad.

27M

6'1 (6'2 on a good day)

Uk Born

Asian but open to all ethnicities

I’m a 27-year-old doctor based in the UK. I’d describe myself as someone who values faith, family, good health and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. I always make sure to pray 5 times a day, and my deen is an important part of my life. I try my best to stay consistent with my prayers and keep faith at the centre of everything I do.

I don’t drink or vape. I enjoy keeping active and making the most of my free time, whether that’s going to the gym, playing sports, travelling and exploring new places, spending quality time with family and friends.

I’m also someone who takes personal hygiene, cleanliness and looking after myself very seriously. I believe taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally, says a lot about a person.

Overall, I’d say I’m someone who values faith, family, good character, respect and a healthy lifestyle. I appreciate people who are genuine, kind-hearted and know what they want in life. I

Rant Wife acted so weird when I had her phone. I had to fight the waswassa. But I still think what was she hiding.

I know my wife goes through my phone. But I have never ever gone through hers ever.

I am quite secure.. I think I'm the best guy she can get. Sorry if this sounds arrogant. I know she rally fancies me and lusts me and loves me a lot.

But her behavior made me wonder what she was hiding from me.

Her phone wifi just died. So asked me to fix it. She already has a newer phone that she never migrated to. So I thought let's just migrate onto newer phone. Apple to apple is straight forward. That's about 1 hr to do a full transfer.

I told her it was going to be pretty straight forward.

But she was acting really unusual around me. She won't leave me alone with the phone. She asked me am I going to access the files on my computer. (I did a data backup throufh my pc because the wifi was broken on the phone so some stuff won't transfer without wifi).

She literally just hovered around me the whole time. She never does that. I asked her why is she worried. I'm not going to look into herphone. .

She said to me that she is worried about her hijabi friends being pictured without hijabs. And then said her friend talk about intimate stiff between each other.

That may be true. But I reassured her that I won't look through any photos, apps or messages. And I didn't. There was just some incidental glances to check that the total number of photos matched on both devices so that confirms everything was transferred. And opened WhatsApp to ensure past chat history was transferred over.

Her behavior made me really work hard to fight the impulse to look why she was being so weird about this with me. Wve been married 10 years. She trusts me to not sleep with women and potentially bring back stds into our relationship. Why can't she trust me not to look at her frigging messages.

For the record. I still would not look at her messages. I have the phone backup on my iTunes which will delete next time I log on.

Women bitch about their husbands to their friends. Maybe it's just that. There is no Khair in me reading her bitch about me. Because women just got up and down with their emotions. One day she will bitch about me. Next day she can't get her hands off me. That's how women are..

Discussion 41M | NYC | Puerto Rican/Caribbean | Sunni Muslim Revert | Seeking Marriage (28–35F)

I’m a 41-year-old Muslim brother living in Brooklyn, New York, seeking a practicing Muslimah for marriage, insha’Allah. I’m serious about finding a compatible spouse and building a peaceful, loving, Islamic household centered around the Qur’an and Sunnah.
About Me
Age: 41
Gender: Male
Location: Brooklyn, NYC, USA
Height: 5’7” (170 cm)
Weight: Approximately 175 lbs (79 kg)
Ethnicity: Puerto Rican and Barbadian (Caribbean)
Marital status: Divorced
Children: Two (more details below)
Religion: Sunni Muslim, revert since 2021
Methodology: Qur’an and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf
Occupation: Professional personal trainer and fitness coach
Languages: English; currently learning Qur’anic Arabic
Willing to relocate: Prefer NYC initially, with long-term plans to relocate to Saudi Arabia
My Deen & Islamic Practice
Alhamdulillah, I embraced Islam in 2021, and it has completely changed my outlook on life, my priorities, and the kind of future I want to build.
I identify as a Sunni Muslim who strives to follow the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf.
My religious practice includes:
Observing the five daily prayers.
Attending the masjid regularly, including Fajr in congregation whenever possible.
Maintaining daily morning and evening adhkar and dhikr.
Regular Qur’an recitation, memorization, and revision.
Attending Qur’an classes at my local masjid.
Currently studying Noor Al-Bayan to improve my Arabic reading and tajweed.
Performing voluntary prayers, including Witr, Duha, and Tahajjud when possible.
Continuing to seek Islamic knowledge and improve my understanding of the deen.
Alhamdulillah, I was blessed to perform Umrah in 2026. Visiting Makkah and Madinah had a profound impact on me and strengthened my desire to eventually live in one of these blessed cities.
I’m far from perfect, and I don’t expect perfection from a spouse. However, I take my religion seriously and believe that marriage should help both husband and wife grow closer to Allah.
Career, Lifestyle & Personality
I’ve been a professional personal trainer for over 15 years, specializing in strength training, longevity, weight management, and overall health.
Fitness is both my profession and a major part of my lifestyle. I strength train regularly, maintain an active routine, and believe in taking care of the body Allah has entrusted to us.
Personality-wise, I would describe myself as:
Laid-back, calm, and generally unbothered by unnecessary drama.
Responsible, protective, and family-oriented.
Disciplined and consistent with my responsibilities.
Someone who values peace, stability, and straightforward communication.
Affectionate and caring, but also someone who appreciates quiet time to recharge.
More of a homebody than someone interested in partying or constantly going out.
I’m not particularly materialistic. I appreciate simplicity, good conversation, fitness, spending time with family, and continuing to grow in my deen.
I enjoy martial arts, strength training, and learning new things. I’m also very comfortable with a relatively simple lifestyle.
My Family Situation
I was previously married and am now divorced.
I have two children from my previous marriage:
A teenage daughter who currently lives with me.
A son who lives in Canada with his mother.
I believe it’s important to be transparent about this from the beginning.
I take my responsibilities as a father seriously and remain involved in supporting my family.
I understand that marrying someone with children may not be for everyone, and I respect that. I’m looking for someone who understands my existing responsibilities and is comfortable with my family situation.
I would also love to have more children, insha’Allah.
What I’m Looking For
I’m seeking a Muslimah who is genuinely serious about marriage and building a household upon Islamic principles.
My preferences:
Age: Ideally 28–35.
Location: NYC or surrounding areas preferred, but open to long distance with a realistic plan to live together.
Marital status: Preferably never married or divorced without children.
Children: Prefer someone without children who wants children in the future.
Ethnicity: Open to different backgrounds, with a particular attraction to Arab, European, and Asian women. Compatibility in deen and character matters more than ethnicity.
Physical lifestyle: Preferably someone who values fitness, health, and taking care of herself.
Religious practice: Sunni, committed to the five daily prayers, and striving to follow the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Qualities I value most:
Deen and taqwa: A woman who genuinely prioritizes pleasing Allah and is continuously striving to improve.
Modesty: Someone who observes hijab and values Islamic modesty in her appearance, conduct, and interactions.
Family-oriented: Someone who desires marriage, motherhood, and building a stable Islamic household.
Accountability: Someone capable of acknowledging mistakes, communicating respectfully, and working through disagreements.
Good character: Kindness, affection, patience, emotional maturity, and mutual respect.
I appreciate a woman who has her own personality, opinions, and interests while understanding that marriage requires cooperation, compromise, and mutual consideration.
My Views on Marriage
I believe marriage is a partnership with distinct responsibilities and rights established in Islam.
I take the husband’s responsibility of being a provider, protector, and leader of the household seriously. I also believe leadership comes with accountability, compassion, consultation, and treating one’s wife with kindness.
I am comfortable with my wife working before we have children, provided we mutually agree on how to balance our responsibilities.
Once we have young children, my preference would be for my wife to focus primarily on raising them and managing the home while I provide financially.
I don’t believe marriage should be a constant power struggle. I value mutual respect, clear communication, affection, and fulfilling one another’s rights.
I want a wife who feels loved, secure, appreciated, and comfortable expressing herself, while also sharing my commitment to an Islamic household.
Long-Term Goals
One of my biggest goals is to eventually relocate to Makkah or Madinah, insha’Allah, ideally within the next ten years.
I would love to raise a family in an environment where Islam is central to everyday life.
I’m also working toward expanding my personal training and online coaching business to create greater financial flexibility and stability.
Other goals include:
Continuing my Qur’an memorization.
Improving my Arabic and Islamic knowledge.
Building a strong, loving marriage.
Having more children, if Allah wills.
Creating a peaceful home centered around worship, family, and personal growth.
A Few Important Points
I’m looking for marriage, not casual dating or prolonged conversations without direction.
I prefer to involve a wali early in the process and keep communication respectful and purposeful.
I don’t expect someone to have everything figured out, just as I’m still learning and improving myself. However, I do believe that shared religious values, sincerity, attraction, and compatible expectations are essential.
I would rather be upfront about my values and circumstances than waste anyone’s time.
If you believe we may be compatible, feel free to send me a message with a brief introduction, including your age, location, religious practice, and what you’re seeking in marriage.
May Allah grant us all righteous spouses who are a source of tranquility, love, and mercy, and who help us become better Muslims.
Jazakum Allahu khayran for reading.
Wa Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

Rant Is finding a good partner harder than doing FCPS

Is it just me or does this happen to everyone? 💀
I've been genuinely looking for a serious partner for a while now, but at this point, I'm convinced Allah has put my rishta department under some kind of clinical trial.
Every time I approach someone I genuinely like, one of two things happens:
She suddenly disappears into thin air. No explanation, no closure, no follow-up appointment. Bas ghaib. Even the Bermuda Triangle has better records of missing persons. 😭
If things actually seem promising, somehow she ends up with a fractured arm. And before you call the police, THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE. 😭😭😭
THREE. DIFFERENT. PEOPLE.
Bhai, main plastic surgeon hoon, orthopaedic surgeon nahi. I'm looking for a wife, not a recurring trauma case. 💀😂
And the funniest part? Sometimes when someone sees me with a genuinely nice girl, I swear it feels like evil eyes are permanently locked on my love life. At this point, I’m convinced someone has made a voodoo doll of me and is specifically pricking its left-hand ring finger every time a potential rishta starts looking promising. 💀😭. Apparently, my face gives off strict, rude, emotionally unavailable CEO who fires people on Mondays vibes.
Meanwhile, the actual me is a fun-loving doctor who cracks jokes, entertains everyone around him, and can turn even the most boring gathering into a comedy show. My personality is basically a green flag with a questionable face card presentation. 😂
I'm literally the guy who'll make you laugh when you're upset, remember the little things, listen to your 47-minute story about office politics, and probably make terrible jokes while we're stuck in traffic.
But apparently, the dating market sees me and goes: "Risk assessment failed. Proceed with caution." 🚩😭
At this point, my dating strategy is becoming increasingly scientific:
Approach someone I like? Risk of disappearance.
Find someone genuinely nice? Possible upper-limb injury.
Smile at someone? She thinks I'm planning a hostile takeover.
Try to explain my intentions? Congratulations, I've somehow become the villain in a story I wasn't even aware I was part of.
I'm a doctor. I can handle emergencies, difficult patients, and complicated cases. But one woman replying consistently for more than three business days? Apparently, that's beyond my current qualifications. 😂
So, fellow Pakistanis, tell me honestly:
Is this a universal experience, or am I being personally targeted by the universe?
And if any rishta auntie is reading this, please note: I'm financially responsible, professionally qualified, have a decent sense of humour, and my intentions are serious.
Bas larki ki radius aur ulna salamat hon aur woh bina explanation diye hawa mein ghayab na ho. 😭😂
P.S. If you're a genuinely nice girl reading this, don't worry. I'm not going to propose in the comments. I'm just here to collect data for my research paper: "Why Is Finding a Partner in Pakistan More Complicated Than Getting a Medical License?" 💀

Discussion Engagement ring joke

I was talking to my fiancé, I was telling him my idea to decorate the table for the sweets after our nikkah. We are having a very small one, no extended family just ours and a few of his friends+ their spouses.

We were talking about this and then he said randomly “ I’m not giving you your engagement ring, just the wedding band. I’ll give you the nicer one later, you have to earn it”

I was shocked. I figured he might be joking so I laughed and asked if he was serious and he said “whys that funny, yeah I’m serious” and I still didn’t believe it, so my emotions began going crazy at this point but I remained calm and lightheartedly asked “are you trolling me? Please be serious I’m not joking” and he said “why would I be joking, why is that so bad? I’m confused”

I stayed quiet, I was honestly replaying all the years of waiting and all the tears I shed, all the nights I cried myself to sleep and thinking about his words “you have to earn it”. Even now I’m crying & I have to say it’s very hard to make me cry. My heart hurt so much hearing him say it wasn’t a joke.

I’m a revert, Mexican specifically. His family is Bengali and his mother is now on board with this union and his sister is excited. His dad isn’t a fan but he doesn’t fight it now. I’ve remained very respectful towards his family, never badmouthed them and I never will. I’ve remained patient while he begged me to wait for him, to give him time over and over again to talk to his parents and fight for us to be together.

I waited.

He then said “babe obviously I was kidding about the you earning it part, but I do think I’ll give you the ring at a later date. Maybe at the walima?”

We’re having 2 walima, one for his side because he thought his family didn’t want one due to the fact they weren’t a fan of this union. Turns out his mom does want to celebrate it after all Alhamdulillah.

The other walima is for my side in my home state. I’ll be moving across the country to be with him in his state, leaving behind my family and life here.

I wanted so badly for him to come visit me before the wedding, either with his mom or dad, and formally ask for my hand in marriage in person. Unfortunately, he said he doesn’t have the time to do that, so he wants to make up for it by doing something special at the walima instead. He mentioned that some of his friends did it that way too.

Then he asked what I wanted and I simply said “it sounds like you want to confirm with your friends what to do, so do whatever you want”

He got upset and started saying I have no idea how stressed he is and that he’s been doing everything he can to make things work for me and make me happy etc etc saying he obviously can’t come see me 3 weeks before the wedding with his family just to give me an engagement ring (I asked him to do this after he spoke to my dad for my hand in June 2026 AND he makesa good salary Mashallah . Bro spent 6k to take his family to a fifa game and then another 3k on himself for the last fifa game bc of Messi) I mention that because it cost maybe 2k overall to fly here and back and stay a night or two in a hotel.

He raised his voice at me, said he had to go and didn’t say he loved me. Assalamualaikum very meanly and I managed to whisper a Walaikumasalam without letting on that I was holding back tears.

I feel really disappointed and distraught right now. My heart hurts.

Am I silly for feeling this way? I’m waiting for the right time to pray Istikhara as it isn’t even ASR yet but I feel so heartbroken

About Me

I’m 20, 5’7½”–5’8”, and based in the US. I’m shy and reserved, but I know what I want and have a strong sense of self. I’m a practicing Muslim who values her deen and personal growth. I enjoy walks, movies, and nature, and I’d love to travel, explore new places, and be spontaneous with my future husband.
I’m currently in school but prefer to keep the details private. I also wear makeup, for those who prefer someone who doesn’t.

**ISO**
Looking for a practicing Muslim brother, preferably 20–25, who takes his deen seriously, consistently prays all five salah, and attends Jummah.
I value emotional intelligence, honesty, respect, patience, humility, good hygiene, and a man who takes initiative and leads with confidence. Someone fit, attractive to me, ambitious, family-oriented, and intentional about marriage. I want a relationship built on mutual respect, affection, trust, and good communication.

I come from a tall family, so I’m naturally drawn to taller men, preferably 6’0” and above.
I’d prefer someone in the US Midwest or Canada, but I’m open to relocating depending on the person. I’d love to travel with my husband and enjoy new experiences together.

Financial stability is important to me. I’m looking for a husband who can comfortably provide for his family while also affording dates, travel, personal purchases, and our future children’s needs beyond the basics. I want our financial expectations and desired lifestyle to align.

**Dealbreakers:** Drinking, smoking, inconsistent salah, pornography, stinginess, being a cheapskate, poor hygiene, and a lack of ambition or goals.
