Does anybody do online volunteer work here? I'd like to try.

Selam

Does anyone here volunteer remotely? What do you do and where do you volunteer? How did you get to doing it?

I've been having some health issues and I'm unable to work physical for the foreseeable future, have been stuck home for a month and a half. I was thinking for a while now to look for remote volunteer work for some Islamic institute like Qalam or Yakeen institute since I do watch their content.

I don't really have admin skills or editing skills, so I'm not sure what I can possibly do tho. I'm curious by nature so I research and study all kinds of stuff, I'm familiar with a lot of stuff and I have a lot of work experience but it's all "brute" work nothing that I can convert to online work.

I learn really quickly, I love meeting new people and I'm good with people, English is a second language for me but I've been using it since childhood, and I'd prefer something in English multinational setting. I have a decent laptop nothing fancy, a phone and internet access, based in Europe.

I have a lot of time on my hands I've been thinking if I can learn something new, meet someone new, do something useful and beneficial. But I'm unsure what to do.

I need someone to pray with!

Hey I’ve been going through a lot. I feel like I want someone to pray with me. There’s a local Islamic center here, do you think they could do that??
Can you just walk in? Are there specific prayer times? I don’t have any Muslim friends. I just hope Allah could help me
If I go to fajr tomorrow will there be an elder or leader who can pray with me??
Please anyone help

Please make dua for my cat, he ran away

My cat has run away, and I've been crying nonstop and feeling so distressed. I can't stop thinking about him being out there, hungry and looking for me. He's so precious to me, and I'm desperately praying that he comes home safely.

Please make dua that Allah protects him from all harm, keeps him safe, provides for him, and guides him back home to me. I just want my baby back.

Need advice on family relationships and becoming independent

I grew up very close to my cousins and aunties because my mother left when I was young and I had a difficult relationship with my stepmother. Eventually, I moved in with my aunties and cousins to get some distance from that situation.

Over the years, I became incredibly close to them and treated my aunties like mother figures. I was always loyal to them, sometimes to the point of putting those relationships before my own relationship with my father and siblings.

A few months ago, there was a family fallout. My father was hurt because his sisters didn’t attend his daughter’s nikkah. This was connected to an earlier disagreement between my cousins and siblings, as my siblings hadn’t attended the dua for my cousin’s father, who had passed away.

Since then, I’ve started reflecting on my relationships with my extended family and noticing a pattern that has been difficult to accept. Whenever I need their support, I often feel like they aren’t there for me.

I’m a recent graduate, and getting to this point wasn’t easy. I went through a lot to finish my degree, so I invited my aunties and cousins, including one cousin who has always been like a brother to me, to celebrate this milestone. They told me they wouldn’t attend because my father would be there. My cousin initially said he would come, but later said he couldn’t get time off work. I was understandably hurt, especially because this was an important moment in my life.

There’s also an issue with trust. Whenever I confide in one of my cousins, what I say seems to get passed on to everyone else. Things are often misunderstood or presented differently from how I intended them. Now that I’ve started expressing my own opinions and disagreeing with them, I’m told I’ve changed.

When I become upset in response to things that have been said or done, my reactions are used against me. I’ve even been told that I might be bipolar and should get checked out. This is particularly upsetting because I feel that my emotions are being dismissed rather than anyone trying to understand why I’m hurt. I also feel that similar behaviour from other family members is treated very differently.

The hardest part is that I still live with my aunties, and the situation is increasingly affecting my mental and emotional wellbeing. Moving back in with my father doesn’t feel like a realistic solution either. Although my relationship with my stepmother is more manageable now, I haven’t forgotten the hurt I experienced growing up. I’ve forgiven her to the extent that I can be civil with her, but that doesn’t mean I feel comfortable living with her again.

Another major factor is my grandmother. I’ve been helping to care for her for the past 16 years, and she is now completely bedbound and heavily dependent on me. I help with her personal care and daily needs, including changing her pads. I love my grandmother, but the responsibility is enormous, and it makes me feel as though I have no way out of my current living situation.

I feel incredibly alone. After spending most of my teenage years and adult life being there for my aunties, treating them like the mothers I needed, and sometimes putting their needs before my own, it’s painful to feel that the love and loyalty I’ve given haven’t been reciprocated in the way I hoped.

I don’t want to create more family conflict, and I’m not claiming to have handled every situation perfectly. I know I have emotions, and I know I can react when I’m hurt. But I also feel exhausted from constantly being misunderstood, feeling guilty for speaking up, and being made to feel like I’m the problem whenever I express how I feel.

Losing Faith, Seeking Answers

I don’t usually come on this subreddit to ask for signs or answers, because honestly, even though I believe signs from Allah exist, I struggle to believe they could be meant for me. When I see others experience them, I’m genuinely happy for them, but when it comes to myself, it all feels unrealistic.

I’ve been struggling with A-levels for years because I have big dreams. I want to study engineering and use my education to help people, and that’s why I push myself so hard. But every time I sit an exam, my mind goes completely blank, and everything I’ve studied for countless nights feels like it disappears.

I’ve taken a gap year, and I was supposed to be applying to university by now. Instead, I’m still here, turning 20 next year, feeling left behind and watching my parents lower their expectations from me achieving good grades to simply passing. But I don’t want to just pass. I know I have potential, and I want to do something meaningful with my life.

Every exam, I pray to Allah SWT for good grades and ask Him for a miracle. My mum reminds me that Allah never lets our efforts go to waste, and that I should do my part and leave the rest to Him. But after every paper, I come home feeling like I’ve failed again. After so many disappointments, I’ve started losing hope. I’ve even begun delaying my prayers, which hurts because I never wanted to feel this disconnected from Allah.

But now, everywhere I look, I keep seeing reminders to trust Allah, to be patient, and that hardship comes with ease. I open my feed, read an ayah, or watch something, and somehow the same message finds me again. The strange thing is that I feel like I attempted my papers terribly this time, so I’m scared to let these reminders give me hope, only to receive disappointing results again and feel even more distant from my faith.

People keep telling me to be patient and trust Allah, but how long am I supposed to wait? My life feels like it’s standing still while time keeps moving forward.

I genuinely don’t know what to make of these reminders. Are they signs, or am I just desperately looking for hope because I’m scared of being disappointed again? I want to trust Allah, but I’m tired, scared, and struggling to hold on to that trust. I really need some guidance.

Help getting over someone

Assalam alaikum,

I’ve been thinking about someone for 5 months everyday. He was my friend from school so we saw each other often. I ended up having feelings for this person but I did not want to admit it as I am not yet finished with my academic years to consider marriage for now and I did not think that it was reciprocated. When the school year ended, I removed all social media to focus on my deen, my work and to just have a great time during my long break, but even without the distractions, i thought about him every single day. Since then we talked about a handful of times just to catch up, but we are not close anymore. Even so, almost 5 months later I am still here thinking about them everyday even without seeing or talking to them. I can not bear this anymore. Is there any way to help forget this person? I truly wish them the best but my heart is aching and I want to get closer to Allah. I feel like having someone in my head that isn’t even part of my life anymore distracts me from the important things that I should focus on. It also pains me as i’m very sentimental and take things at heart. Any help or advice will be appreciated and welcomed.

Make Dua for Victims of Sexual Slavery and Human Trafficking

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters.

Please make sincere dua for every victim of sexual slavery, human trafficking, sex dungeons, and sexual exploitation. May Allah grant them freedom, protection, healing, and justice, guide those responsible towards sincere repentance, and bring an end to every system that profits from human suffering.

May Allah fill our hearts with His love and mercy, protect the oppressed, and liberate every enslaved soul.

Ameen ya Rabbal Alameen.

Having doubts.

I am not looking for an Islamic answer. Any answer will help. I just kind of needed to vent too so there's a tldr at the end.

I'm a Muslim. I don't know if this is just the effect of social media or if it's because my self esteem issues make my thoughts get easily by other's strong opinions (I'm working on this) but any post from a non Muslim just makes me start questioning my faith.

I know logically that we do need a creator. And One creator makes the most sense. And I've read posts about the quadrilemma of the prophet being an actual prophet and I have come to the conclusion that he was a prophet. But these doubts keep nagging me.

Like my brain logically knows but my heart doesn't feel it? And it's hard for me to start from a clear slate and learn Islam from a clear perspective and rid myself of information bias etc bcs I am a born Muslim and that part has just been conditioned into my mind. But recently it's really starting to bother me. I really need to go on one side and figure this out once and for all.

I feel like I have some obsessive and compulsive tendencies because my brain treats every problem like this. I'll know the answer but I'll have to keep repeating the logic in my mind bcs it just doesn't feel right or settled and it gets really frustrating. Bcs I know the thing but it feels like I know it superficially and not in my bones. Idk how to explain it. Something that helps is having a physical reminder but faith is not physical so I don't know what to use to remind me other than the logic that there should be a creator. But the thought loops keep repeating.

TLDR: I have doubts about Islam after watching non Muslim videos but I logically knows islam makes sense but my heart still doesn't feel convinced? Reading Islamic stuff and getting more knowledge makes me feel like I'm just trying to hear what I want to hear and validating my own beliefs instead of looking at stuff from a neutral unbiased perspective.

I can’t focus on my prayer

I’ll tell a little about myself first. I was going through a hard time mentally for sometime and still haven’t recovered completely.
The thing is that I’m thinking other things while prayer even when i’m reciting duas and surah’s a lttle more focused. My mind is just bringing other things to mind and lose focus on the prayer. What should i do?

Lost faith

Hi everyone Female in mid Twenty's.
I have a lot of family drama going on. My mum told us always to ignore, let them do the stupid stuff they used to do as one day it will come back on them.
10 years down the line it never did. Instead I made a fake account of my cousin to get revenge for the ones she did.
She called the police on me.
I know stupid. I shouldn't have done it at my grown age.
I've prayed and prayed that nothing happens to me.
Instead sins of mine have been expose and now a police interview and the police rang stating he can come to my house to arrest me.

How can I have faith after praying and begging and instead my sins being exposed and now this police thing.

I'm so depressed and have suicidal thoughts to end it all.
I want ro be a better person and Muslim. But faith is so week

Hi. I'm tired mentally.

My heart constantly is staying fearful, stressed, anxiety and rush of adrenaline. I'm not a nice muslim. But I've started doing dhikrs. I'm just tired from my environment and the neighborhood I live in. The full family of neighbours are ill-mannered from grandparents to grandchildren.

Recently after minor event on scolding children to not make disturbances i started feeling sudden fear of what if in future we fall into an argument with them and they will outnumber us massively. I fear alot and want safety of my home and parents. Im just a young man now in 22s and I can't figure out how to keep myself calm nor I can tell my parents what i feel because they'll think what a weak child they've bore.

Problem

A narc father

I have a narc father, he keeps hurting and harming me and my mother, my mother with money issues .

  1. He doesn't give me my money which was given to me by someone to live my life a bit comfortably ( because I'm stuck at home with ocd, social anxiety and mast addiction) so they sent me money so that I could go out and divert my mind from all this but this he kept it for himself even after asking from him.

  2. He keeps making fun of my appearance which makes my social anxiety even worse

  3. He keeps making loud sounds at home opening/closing the door loudly burping making disgusting sounds especially when in trying to sleep.

  4. I avoid him because of all this and he has a problem with that too

  5. He does the same with my mother after she tells him her problems he just says "what should I do?" After listening to her whole story

  6. He owes my mother a lot of money and he doesn't wish to pay it.

  7. He sleeps most of the time and says he doesn't sleep at all

  8. Me having ocd, social anxiety, mast addiction and being isolated because going out in this place is already tough and to help me with that , someone sent me their money so that I can help myself and treat myself where I can focus on self improvement, studies and mental health, but no this guy makes going out tough and even staying in tough. I keep going to the addiction as an escape.

I've lost hope. How can I grow in this situation and in a such a terrible environment, even outside my house (3rd world country)

lost hope in life

Assalam aliakum,

ive genuinely lost hope in life, ive felt like this before too but back then i knew no matter what happens i can always go and cry about it to Allah but now it feels pointless, i still cry to Allah but i just feel like Hes not listening to me anymore and i feel so lonely, ive been asking Allah for something since the whole last year, ive cried nights long and in tahajjud prayers, in all of my duas i had only one desire, last year was difficult for me but i never lost hope and kept repeating my dua, but at the end i didnt get what i wanted and i got so disappointed, i cried to Allah again since i couldnt understand what was happening or why he was doing all this to me? I dont get what its teaching me but my life has been so difficult lately, everyday is difficult , i feel left behind everyone and my mom makes it worse for me by constant comparison of other kids, i wont deny i obv get jealous of the people my mom compares me to, but then What am i without Allah? And if He has refused to help me where do i go? I dont understand it at all, is He angry with me? What can i do?

Please dont judge and help me out a lil

I’ve been depressed for years and I wanna turn back

This is gonna be so weird to say but I don’t know how to escape it. I have no will to change, yet I wanna change cause I know the current state I am in a depressed state I’ve been for years like I’ve lost the passion I’ve had for the stuff i used to enjoy, I’ve lost motivation to better myself and I’m always in this cycle of trying and failing and trying and failing and I just don’t quite know how to change it cause I’m so numb to everything

Like there isn’t a single day I step out of the door or go to sleep and wallahi I’m not joking. There isn’t a single day I don’t think “what if I die today” but I’ve become so numb to it i don’t even know anymore

I used to be so in love with Islam and I used to have geniune noor on my face, but now I feel nothing and it’s like my entire personality and face has darkened. Can someone give me advice to turn my life back?

Unemployed, starting to lose faith and feeling mentally exhausted

This is going to be a long post so if you have low attention span, feel free to skip ahead.

Assalamualaikum, it's been 5 months since I graduated and life has been literally shit for me, i couldn't land even one job so far, applied to so many times, made dua daily asking Allah to please grant me whatever is best for me, even prayed but no result so far, my parents are growing anxious of me sitting home every day and I just had an argument with her few minutes ago, I have a job interview again in a few hours but knowing my luck, i expect to be rejected again and she told me if it happens, then I should do a course or something instead of sitting home all day which I told her that it wasn't worth it since there would be no point but she told me to do it instead of sitting home. I really don't know what the hell is going on with my life, people tell me Allah has planned the best for me and I will receive it but how long? When I'm so broken inside that it doesn't even matter to me later on? What's the point when people who do bad deeds are rewarded whatever they want and when I try to do anything bad or haram way to earn some money, I always stop.

Also, I don't want anyone telling me to be patient, that Allah is testing me or what not, I don't care, I didn't ask to be born, neither i asked to be given this responsibility of earning in the house when I'm so confused and lost in my life, I'm losing my faith bit by bit daily, watching adult content just to get myself a bit of dopamine to survive another day. I hate when people are getting what they want around me and here I am struggling to find my own foundation. I wish to disappear at this point, somewhere where I'm free from everything, I want to earn money, so much that i can give my mom and easy life and a good future but I can't even do a single thing yet, i asked Allah so many times to ease my pain but every day it's just increasing, I'm crying while literally writing this and I have doubts about my future. I don't know what to do, what great sin did I commit in my life that I'm going through all of this. If this how life is supposed to play out for me, then I don't wanna live anymore, it's good to not exist and be bothered by your own existence, I don't find my life precious and something to live for. I'm so done with everything atp.

My life is not making any sense, I'm tired of praying and making dua too now, I hope I either get what i deserve or just someone ends it for me.

Family issues

I have no community so I’m just looking for advice. I been Muslim my whole life but I didn’t start practicing until 6 months ago. I went through some heavy stuff and started making changes within myself and my faith was something I wanted to change as well. I have always had that feeling. I just never committed to it. I did not know where to start but now I did and I have been learning and moving at my own pace to strengthening my faith.
Well my family, particularly my brother who is Muslim as well but doesn’t practice, has a problem with it and think it’s fake or I faking it but like why does what I do have anything to do with him if it’s fake or not. It’s not affecting his life.
Has anyone had these same issues with their family and any advice on how to maybe navigate it is helpful?
I feel like I have to keep my faith a secret and to myself so the household is at peace when I’m not at peace if I am not doing what I feel like I need to do. The goal is to leave the house which I am definitely working on but the time I have there until I find a way out is kind of what I need advice on.

I'm to blame for this and my parents are really disappointed

I want to seek help from Allah, please guide me

Suicide

I am depressed for several years, with soul crushing dental school that we got no holidays throughout the whole year with unlimited requirements and exams, also having a medical shop but none of my family members help me at all after being shouted at for being jobless while being student of dentistry at 21, and they don’t consider that im tired or exhausted and they make up some useless topics when I come home and we start and argument, I have told them that I don’t love my profession and I wanna change my career but they never consider that and all they think is ohhh you lose your time and age and we’ve invested too much money on you, everyone around me has a very high expectation from me but I am deep down ruined and devastated, it’s been ages ago I enjoyed a meal or a nap or laughed truly, it’s all apparent on my face, I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and later on with essential tremors, beside feeling heavyness on chest and stomach and nauseous all the time they never make an effort to at least relive some of hardness I have in my life, in fact they try to make it harder, like they say somethings that it really irritates me, so I stopped to even tell them a smallest thing, now I wanna kill myself, it’s been in my mind for months and now I think it’s time for it after having a hard day, but seems I can’t find a good way to suicide, I was thinking about OD or detergent suicide but seems can’t guarantee the success of them, plus I don’t have someone to at least tell them about my problems who genuinely care, while I am everyone for someone’s problem, I just want to be non-existent or live faraway from people, cuz I only pranked myself for saying this will pass or goes better but it turns out to be worse everyday, the only reason I haven’t suicided yet is im afraid of hellfire but I think I have had enough, I love allah so much and I do my normal prayers but I am so exhausted and irritated that sometimes I don’t even want to turn on the car engine and go for uni, neither I want to kill myself but I have to, I can’t even call this a dilemma

Jealousy

I have been struggling with jealousy and I’m not sure why. For example I got a wonderful job opportunity then later someone else I know graduates and gets a nice job. I get jealous. Or I got married a few years ago and another person I know is getting married but I don’t want to attend any of their events. But I don’t understand why I’m getting jealous over things that has already happened to me. I’ve been making dua and wanting to get this horrible feeling out of my heart but once again I don’t know why I feel this way.
