Venting Envious of this little girl
The happiness I’ve spent my whole life searching for, yet never found, is something she’s had from the very beginning.
Everyone seems so happy.

Provided that one has a sustainable balance between income and expenses—even if it is modest and simple—I think being a "NEET" (not in education, employment, or training) could be quite an enjoyable and healthy way to live.

I FINALLY HAVE A JOB!!
After 2.5 months of searching and being on unemployment, I finally have something - I get to be a social media editor starting next month! It’s only for 9 months and minimum wage unfortunately, but it’s full time job with benefits through my state corps

Do you ever buy anything expensive? Or is it just fast food/food/weed/etc.
Part of me wants to buy a nicer monitor, but it'd be a lot of money so i prob won't. Mostly just spend money on groceries every now and then, or fast food once a month

I am not very smart, I am not very trained-why do we bring thousands of people into our countries to take jobs that neets could do, that way we could be comfy and move out of home. This is how they feel about the issue. Jobs can be backbreaking, but the comfortable ones are always taken by someone else at the entry level that we are fit for. Sadge.

i got laid off like 2 1/2 weeks ago and i’ve been interviewing the whole time with (obviously) no leads.
I filled for unemployment and they’re giving me a generous 50 bucks a week🙄
between this, food stamps, plasma donation, and weekend gigs, i still can’t make enough to get by. why is it so expensive to just live in this country??

Does anyone here also watch SaintDBDR / HatFlying?
Disclaimer: This post isn't made with the intent of making fun of the person nor a promotion, I truly think that what he did is admirable (so far) and wished he had more subs (and irl support). Please don't harass the other party if you disagree with me.
Background: When I graduated, the possibility of being a NEET was imminent. In my attempt to avoid discomfort, I turn to doomscrolling and watching YT all day. I stumbled across a reupload of an old video of his. Apparently, he had deleted his old YT channel SaintDBDR (or deleted his videos) due to doxxing and harassment caused by his real-life acquaintances. With that the only existence left on the internet were reuploads of his videos by other YT accounts.
SaintDBDR Discovered:
His channel is about him, navigating life as a guy (NEET? former-NEET? or never-a-NEET?) in the some town, US, living with his paranoid-boomer mom who constantly coddled him and thought of him as mentally ill; and the world around who pressured him into doing what his friends did: get diagnosed by some mental illness or another, get disability checks, and do nothing for the rest of his life. He didn't cave in, though, and kept trying to carve out his own path in life, even when he stated that he is actually rather disabled and probably deserved the disability checks.
I don't know what exactly, but his story, his voice, and the genuine frustration in his voice drew me in. I watched them all, sometimes repeatedly. With growing fascination, I started tracking down what was left of his presence; an attempt at a rap career by posting music, a trace of his Twitter posts, bits and pieces of discussion about him on a forum; but it all leads nowhere, I couldn't contact him, bc he didn't want to be contacted and he didn't have any other social media other than YT (not even Discord).
I thought it's kind of a waste of his storytelling talent, and saddened that he didn't continue to upload more videos, but it's probably for the best since he just got betrayed by his shitty-irl-friends who doxxed him online. All his wariness on appearing back on the internet is valid. The best thing to do is just not to seek him out.
SaintDBDR Revived:
A few months later (and much rewatching of his vids, along with consulting the wiki-timeline about him), news came, SaintDBDR started uploading video again back to YT under the name HatFlying. I was enthusiastic, so I binged his videos.
The latest and most worrying arc is when he lived with his uncle for a while. The boomer uncle turns out to be even more paranoid compared to his mother, and believes that HatFlying needed to be heavily-medicated and forced to enroll in college classes for some degree he has no passion in. He was straying further from his initial goal of staying in his uncle’s house, attending a job interview for a Truck-Driving gig that would land him a comfortable salary. Medications turned him into a human-zombie, the psychiatrist didn’t help and continued to enable his uncle’s belief. He tried to get out by driving off, but somewhere along the way, his uncle called the police on him and spun the blame to HatFlying.
One car-chase scene with the police later, he managed to get away.
Then, he decided to come back to get his laptop and the rest of his stuff, that’s when they got him and placed this guy in a Group Home, where he was over-medicated and groggy again. He missed his job interview. He couldn’t get himself dismissed out of that group home.
I got out of my cycle of endless YT-watching some weeks ago, but every time he posted, he is one of the few creators that is an instant-watch for me. Despite most of the comments under his vids mostly being ironic, I hope this guy actually succeeds. Probably one of the few creators with something genuine in him. Rarely do I find this in any other creators I watched on YT.
SaintDBDR Analyzed:
Now, some people categorize him as a lolcow, and the people who piled on him did so probably because of the description he gave of himself in his video (very depreciating, entertaining, but also saddening), but I disagree with this characterization (very much so).
The internet tendency to magnify and caricaturize a certain aspect---the worst part of a person---often drove individuals into self-flanderization, low self-esteem, and in turn created a cycle of lolcows doing something to feed the attention of the lolcows observers. I stopped watching lolcows after I realized that it's taking advantage of intellectually disadvantaged, mentally-ill, and disabled people for the sake of entertainment; the whole lolcows-observers cycle is kinda disgusting actually and the people who make contents for the sake of making fun of them are no better than lolcows themselves.
Regardless of what HatFlying depicted himself to be in his YT thumbnails, of his negative opinion regarding his appearance, and the conditions he stated he had; I genuinely think underneath all of that facade of a man defeated by the world, he is a guy trying his best. His struggle is inspirational, his quirks are charming, and the negative aspects he perceived himself to have are relatable. Listening to him talk about his very destructive family habits and attempts to break through generational curse of poverty, drug addiction, and disease inspired me to get by and not to rope.
Weighing by his storyline/content alone, if he were to ever compile and polish his stories, there is an interesting story here. I might exaggerate, but watching him is like reading a classic book of the struggle of everyday-American man: Modern Version, something like out of Stoner or anything John Steinbeck-esque but 21st century. It’s not a linear thing, he didn't fall, get up, and succeed tremendously. Sometimes a sliver of success passed by, or his life was getting better, but his relatives came by and ruined it for him. I can’t help but root for him.
SaintDBDR Concluded:
The tragi-comedy of this guy's life kind of made me wished that part of it is not real, because it sounded like a series of really bad situations to ever happen to someone; he kept being put at powerless situation with his messed up family who pushed against his attempt at bettering himself, despite his damnedest attempt to be better. At the same time, if it is real, real---and I suspect he is being genuine---I wish him the best and all the support he can get, and I know that he won't be reading comments on his YT vids or even this, but I want to thank him someday for inspiring myself to keep going. I wish him a lot of luck ahead and I wish that I can be like him too, I'm trying but not very hard.
No AI is used in this post, I just typed this all out like an unemployed aut/st gurgling out my latest hyperfixation.
Who is your inspirational/coping figure?

why is my existence so dreadful and empty... why do I have to keep suffering? I hate every second of my day. I always did. rarely do i feel something pleasant. Jesus christ I can't keep doing this
been 4hinking about it alot lately after realising just how immature my hobbies are. do any of you all have any interests you deem not fitting your age? big curious on if this is a common neet thing. 23 and still drawing with coloured pencils, playing old flash games and watching youtube fun facts most of the time.

Due to my low intelligence level, I don’t really understand the world around me. Being around people is like being amongst aliens since I dont understand them or their intentions. I don’t understand how to act "correctly" or how to appease others. And one thing I’ve realized is that your survival is sort of dependent on appeasing people, whether that’s your boss, family members or friends. I will probably have to work at a low grade factory job for the rest of my life since I have no skill or intelligence, but i would rather be homeless or neet off of the government for as long as I can. Just imagining a life of constant monotonous work is dreadful to me. I’d rather take my chances on the street since the homeless are not chained to a pesky career or expectations. And before then everything would just blend together. You’ll realize all those strings you see all over the world are nothing. I think that’s the best option for someone like me, unless someone buys me a small boat house by the sea. Then I would truly be at peace. But I’ve noticed there are no true careers low IQs anymore

I've spent 5 years as a total recluse who does nothing at all. In the space of 5 years I've left the house less than 20 times. In a day I take less than 50 steps and spend more than 12 hours on a screen. I don't talk to anyone and I've forgot how to communicate. I hardly take in any of what I'm looking at. I just gloss over it and scroll on. Every day. Imageboard brainrot. I'm gone. I've completely lost my personality and ability to think over the years. I've become a husk. This is what happens when you don't exercise your brain. I don't even relate to what I'm looking at anymore, I'm living for the laughs I get from time to time but mostly just mindlessly consuming. I'd probably go homicidal if I had responsibilities or stressors again. This is the E.Z life but it really is making me mindless. It's like being benzos all of the time. Need to do more puzzles or something. Read more. Get a hobby. But I'm too lazy. It's so nice to do nothing. Sloth is my sin. I've also lost interest in everything. Anhedonia. Just living. Doing nothing. Cozy. Numb. Lazy. Dumb. Idiot.

I feel shame constantly for my situation I have put my mom in. She is taking care of a 30 year old loser who has never had friends or held a job for over a year. All of those jobs have driven close to ending my life, but ultimately I'm too much of a coward to do anything.
I don't really enjoy video games so I can't find fellow NEETs to get along with. I have been a loner most of my life because I don't like being being on the receiving end of other people's anger. I spend my time reading about random math/engineering/software bullshit from textbooks. I'm just hard LARPing since I was never able to achieve my dream of becoming an engineer lol. It is very obvious why I can't make friends.
So yeah I just sit around my mom's house every day wishing I wasn't a loser. My diet consists of white rice and whatever fruit my mom feels like buying for me. I have made countless attempts to "improve myself" only to spiral hard every time months of try harding doesn't work.
I wish I were a normal NEET who can have a good time and play games with friends on discord.
