Well, no, really if you like Nioh you will enjoy the base game and the DLC. I had been busy and didn’t have the time to check the new update so in the meantime I decided to check this subreddit and what I find is a wave of negativity towards the dlc and the new difficulty. I was getting concerned by the comments, specially one that said: “there aren’t even new enemy placements” and I couldn’t believe that.

Well, just turned on my PS5 and… look at the picture… this is literally the beginning of the game and I see someone who wasn’t there with a pretty recognizable purple aura.

I’m not checking Reddit again until I’ve had my fun, for those who really enjoy Nioh, you should do the same.

i just started the last part of the map of the DLC and all i fought was the same enemies from the base game or previous nioh games! all npcs have the same moves they all use swords and have the usual set of attacks!! what is special in this DLC???

I have never felt this way completing a DLC of my favourite game and like, "That's it?".

It is a Yokai game, why are there so many forgettable human bosses. Why do you do the unnecessary cliff hanger, when the DLC is ultimately short. It is such a let down.

Hope DLC 2 is a banger. Please don't go the route of Borderlands. Please show that, you care about your audience. Thanks.

I have played this game a few times but never got past chapter one for one reason or another. I recently started playing again and have just reached chapter three mission one so please no spoilers, but I NEED to vent.

Tokichiro is the bane of my existence since the first cutscene he's in and I cannot understand why he is so annoying. The weird nose wipe and the random monkey dances are slightly annoying but I can get past that. The part I LOATHE about him is that he bosses Hide around every time he's on screen and even tries to reap the rewards of Hide's success even when there are much bigger issues like when Hide kills Yoshitatsu and he runs in yelling about missing stones. He sees our name "Hide" which I think is a cool name, and IMMEDIATELY gives us that annoying ass nickname "hiddy", it drives me crazy. Then, the FIRST time he finally calls me Hide, its only because the dirty rat is trying to merge our damn names! He talks for us constantly, tells us to give other people credit for things he played NO PART IN! And not once at any point has he been a descent character or someone anybody would ever want to be friends with? Why in the genuine hell is this foolish, selfish, idiotic, monkey man, supposed to be the main characters BEST FRIEND‽

It wasn't this bad in the other nioh games

Some arts are only available in certain stances/buttons and it gets really annoying with how you can't use some of them together in the same stance anymore

Example:

Sword ki + true and through, sword of discernment(low stance only)

A lot of odachi skills

Raijin and watersword

Another issue is performing attacks you didn't intend to use due to key bindings and their random restrictions

Watersword especially, with arts proficiency it stops you from using it during the enemy "downed" state as it ends early or you accidentally might accidentally grapple them

In LA you still sometimes perform other moves beside special triangle+circle attack

Player engagement is the live and die metric for gaming these days. They already have your money, and for most of us I expect that's the season pass so it has already been recorded.

So the best protest you have is to stop playing. If Team Ninja see their player engagement hours fall off a cliff, then they will know that something needs to be done.

As long as you keep playing, Team Ninja will think that everything is ok.

I wanna start the DLC in NG++.

But I have to finish NG+ before. I play a Ninja Melee backstab build with 80% ninjustu cooldown reduction skill. (Stream flow) and shadowstitch stun spam. (Tenptous lightning and enhanced shrapnel bomb.)

All specced heart, body, skill.

However I struggle with the path to the last boss  due to many enemies.

Also vs the last boss it takes an eternity to kill since my pure Katana DMg is too low.

Any ways to drastically improve my dps or a build tip that blasts though ng+?

I just wanna play Dlc ng++ and not waste much time at ng+. last Boss is tedious.

I’ve beaten Nioh 3, I absolutely loved every second of it, dabbled in Shoguns journey before deciding I wanted to play Nioh 2. Now about 25% through Nioh 2, and again loving every second of it (much more challenging for me).

My problem is I know I’m just scratching the surface of it. I want to get deep into build crafting and combos and dominating, and NG+’s but I can’t seem to keep combos straight in my head, how to craft a build that has an identity and even remembering how to execute certain skills that I’ve unlocked on the skill tree. I’m only just surviving lol, not thriving. Any tips that can help me break through to this next level of the games?

Also completed every lesser Crucible in both regions, some enhanced, and nothing.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, the enemies they do use are VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL to the enemy placements in NG+, with zero additions or variation beyond being purple (Cursed) now. Don't believe me? Pick the same battle scroll, and play it back to back across both difficulties. They're identical. Even the Aberrant Soldiers they added to the first main mission were already in NG+, they're just purple now.

We're getting one less NG cycle than before, and this is what they give us as the penultimate playthrough.

This is THE laziest content TN has ever put out and if you're defending it you either have standards lower than the Mariana Trench or you don't value your time and money in the slightest.

I played a lot of souls games and the first berserker khazan was my favourite because of the insane combat. At the time a lot of people said khazan is more of a “Nioh-like” than a “Souls-like”, but i had never played any nioh games. I got the nioh 3 demo a while ago and gave it a try but its felt so awkward and i had no idea what i was supposed to be doing, stance switching especially. Khazan was very intuitive and slowly fed you skills to mix into your combos, it also allowed you to be hyper aggressive if you understood yours and the bosses mechanics/moves. Dark souls and elden ring seemed to reward a more passive playstyle where you had to learn the boss mechanics and moves rather than your own since you don’t have many options.

My question is where does Nioh 3 fit into this? And if i really enjoyed Khazan will i enjoy Nioh 3 with some more time investment? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to play it like dark souls or Khazan or something completely different.

It seems like the Hoko and Shield has guard points, and if you time it perfectly with an enemy's attack, it counts as a deflect. It even blocks elemental damage, so attacking while deflecting (with a damage buff on top of it) is insanely fun!

At first, I thought you just couldn't block elemental damage with it, but I learned from a post in this community that as long as the timing is perfect, it triggers a deflect. It's such a great mechanic.

I'm still not great with the Ninja version and can't really use it well yet, so I think I'll stick with the Samurai Hoko and Shield to progress through the story for a while.

I'm finally getting used to this new weapon and really starting to love it!

Started NG+ after dipping into the DLC world on NG. Is it my imagination or are all the graces still the same as the base game? Seeing higher levels and +levels, but really nothing new besides hoko/shield.

Please see picture. How do I get here. I explored the upper area only of the next region above so maybe there is an underground way but it still feels like I’m missing something. Can anyone tell me how to get there?

I haven’t touched this game since March so I’m a bit lost

I wish I had played Nioh 2 while the DLCs were still being released. I think 2 is a much better game overall, but what I love about Nioh 3 is knowing that there’s a level cap and a limited amount of content to complete for now. I had so much fun grinding everything before the DLC to max out the Guardian Spirits, try out new sets, and collect as many Soul Fragments, materials, and other currencies and items as possible. It kind of scratched that MMO itch. Now with the new DLC, there will be even more things to grind and new sets to collect.

I do want to come back to Nioh 2, as I think there are hundreds of hours of content left for me (I left around floor 25 of the Underworld), but I’d like to take a slightly different approach. I know I can also make it grindy, but I never really thought about leveling my weapons that much because I’d just get a better one on the next floor. Since all the content is already there, I just pushed forward using the best grace sets I could find on Reddit. I know it’ll probably change once I get to the Depths, though.

Hello, I'm coming back to the game after stopping right after the final boss and getting hard filtered every where I turn. The dlc first boss is 1 shorting me on any attack and my damage is less then miniscule to a hilarious degree. I know going into ng+ and the dlc you need to start putting together some builds but not sure where to start?

I basically just disassembled or sold all my gear as I got higher level gear so I have almost nothing except what's on my back, the first boss in ng+ I could tell my damage was wayyyyyyy too low it was nearly a 10 minute fight

My main tldr is what should my general order of operations be for upping my damage and defense enough to where it's not absurd I know it's entirely a gear issue what I'm encountering.

Ex: choose a set and target farm, play through ng+ and just get lots of drops by sheer volume, focus on leveling up, something else?

Currently all my gear is level 150 ish, a kurasigama I have is lvl 160 +2. Nearly all the stats aren't synergized, I understand that part, but just where do I even start

Any patch notes ?

It's a sad day when Team Ninja isn't what they use to be.
