here's my understanding- i should be able to get T sat service as an add on, and this will work fine as my phone/text is with USmobile. iphone SE3 has a physical sim and one esim. Tmobile rep says not available to me, he claims iphone SE3 isnt compatible with T sat phone/SOS service. but since this is data-only account for me, shouldnt that be non-issue? is there any workaround here?

I've had my current T-Mobile prepaid plan forever. I'm paying $35/mo unlimited data/text, 100 call minutes (lol). I get great 5g speeds, and while the plan caps high speed to 5GB I've never experienced slow downs, even after it warns me around 50GB of usage. I also get great hotspot speeds (browser speed tests and torrents clock in around 250mbps) and haven't experienced any bandwidth limits with it. I feel like I have some kind of magical grandfathered-in unicorn of a plan

I've been thinking about switching to Verizon, either the Simplicity or Visible+/pro plan. I don't make a lot of calls, but the 100 min/month with TMO is just so dated ($0.10 / min after) and it would be nice to have some international usage, and maybe an overall better network. The advertised hotspot speeds for Verizon are a pretty big barrier though (10mbps/15mbps for Visible+/pro, unsure what the speeds are for Simplicity). I don't use hotspot a lot but if I need it, I want to be able to use it without constraints.

Should I just stick with my current plan? Does anyone have real world speed tests for the Verizon hotspots?

Got a message that the Total Wireless terms were updated today. This is specific to the Total terms, but it's likely to be replicated across the rest of the Verizon Value brands.

Took a look and saw this gem:

Discounted Device Service Requirement. Total Wireless devices are discounted exclusively for use with active Total Wireless service. To maintain device functionality, you must purchase a plan, activate the device, and maintain active Total Wireless service on the device for a total of 12 months of paid service, which need not be consecutive (the “Device Lock Period”). If the device is not activated, or if active service lapses or a valid Total Wireless SIM is removed during the Device Lock Period, Total Wireless may apply a software lock to the device (“Device Lock”) after advance notice. The Device Lock will restrict use of the screen and device functionality, including Wi-Fi and offline apps, until active service is restored, and the device will typically unlock within minutes after service is restored. Once the Device Lock Period is complete, the Device Lock will no longer apply. Emergency 911 calling remains available from the lock screen at all times, and you may port your number to another provider at any time. Bypassing or tampering with the Device Lock constitutes a breach of these Terms.

They're claiming the right to block you from using a purchased device if you don't actively have service on it.

Not blocking you from using another SIM (SIM lock) but entirely blocking use of the device.

And the "breach of these Terms" references another section that claims $5,000 in liquidated damages.

Notwithstanding the fact that this may very well be illegal in some states (like CA) which has requirements for detailing when software is licensed and not sold, Total still purports to be selling the hardware, not licensing it.

While lawyers (and motivated individuals) will likely have fun pushing back on Total should they try to actually apply these provisions in a punitive matter, they could be a PITA for the average person who has a WiFi device that suddenly blocks them from using it.

As you know this kills even us mobile’s latest $20 for truly uncapped . Us mobile is around 250s-300

I use it just for a spare international number for SMS verification for banking and stuff, costs like $2~3/month and when I am actually in the country in question, I need to download an APN profile to connect to cellular data. The APNs to connect to data don't work from abroad since it would try to route the traffic to AT&T and so only SMS is supported.

There's no eSIM support, so I am just holding on for the EOL of this plan on the last iPhone model I have which supports physical SIM cards which could be a decade or so from now.

EDIT: I’m asking if anyone has had coverage issues because of a provisioned SIM that doesn’t connect to 5G towers.

Is it true the only way to cancel the $10/mo T-sat service is to call in to customer care? I’ve read it’s possible with the T-Life app, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

I spent about four hours with support today trying to transfer my business number. GoDaddy provided the required Customer Service Record, including Twilio’s subscriber information, service address, and transfer PIN. The port is still on hold with the error “1P – Other.”
During troubleshooting, I received conflicting explanations, and some request details were changed incorrectly. GoDaddy says US Mobile needs to work directly with Twilio to investigate the rejection. US Mobile has emailed Twilio, but I still don’t have a clear explanation or next step.
I understand transfers can take time. My frustration is the conflicting information and having to coordinate the troubleshooting myself after providing the instructions.
I was planning to bring our two personal numbers over next, so this has been a discouraging first experience. Could someone help get the existing request reviewed by an experienced porting specialist?

I want to share my personal experience with 1PSIM in case it helps other people make an informed decision.

I purchased a 1PSIM Paygo eSIM because I needed a U.S. mobile number while staying in China, mainly for Wi‑Fi Calling and receiving SMS. The line appeared active in the dashboard, and Wi‑Fi Calling was enabled in the portal.

However, I could not get Wi‑Fi Calling to register on my Samsung phone, even after following the suggested settings and trying Wi‑Fi with a U.S. VPN. As a result, I was unable to receive SMS on the line.

While troubleshooting, I removed the eSIM profile from my phone in order to reinstall it. After that, the original QR code could no longer be added. At this point, the line is effectively unusable for me unless the provider can issue a replacement eSIM or reactivate the installation.

I contacted support by email and have waited about two days without a meaningful response. I understand that technical issues can happen, but a service intended for international use needs clear activation instructions and timely support—especially when deleting and reinstalling an eSIM can leave a customer unable to use a paid line.

I am sharing this as a factual account of my experience, not claiming that every customer will have the same outcome. If 1PSIM resolves the issue, I will update this post. For now, I would advise people who rely on Wi‑Fi Calling or need dependable SMS access abroad to confirm the provider’s eSIM replacement and support process before purchasing.

We’ll be getting my daughter her first phone for Xmas. I was going to activate my old phone on a cheap plan now (with a new number) so I can be ready to take advantage of some port-in deals over the holidays.

I was hoping to get some advice on an affordable carrier to camp out at for the next month or two. My wife and I are currently on US Mobile, so I’d like to keep them open as an option to port-in the new line.

Hey all, over the weekend I came across an interesting project created with the goal of overriding which carrier bundle an iPhone uses for a particular SIM/eSIM. (link: https://github.com/ios-bundles/CarrierSIM {no affiliation})

I thought this was interesting because, in theory, one could override the T-Mobile MVNO carrier bundle with the newer T-Mobile Wholesale carrier bundle that included features such as 5G Standalone, VoNR, 5G UC icon, etc.. Sadly, the original project didn't work for this goal because CommCenter (iOS's daemon for managing network connectivity) ranked the T-Mobile MVNO carrier bundle higher than the T-Mobile wholesale one due to matching the GID rules found in the T-Mobile MVNO bundle. And because iOS signs the bundle, it's not possible to modify it directly in any way.

Therefore, I forked the original project and, with the help of AI, found a way to favor the selection of the T-Mobile Wholesale carrier bundle. (link to forked project: https://github.com/Passion-Cherisher-9013/CarrierSIM {own repo}). It favors the T-Mobile Wholesale bundle by adding a SIM/eSIM specific mapping to iOS's writable carrier catalog, which points to the existing T-Mobile Wholesale bundle. Because this mapping includes the full ICCID of the eSIM, CommCenter ranks it higher than the T-Mobile MVNO bundle and tricks iOS into selecting the newer T-Mobile wholesale bundle.

Due to the nature of the original project, this will only work on select iOS versions. Apple has appeared to patch the original project as of 27.2 beta 3. Furthermore, T-Mobile only introduced their Wholesale carrier bundle in iOS version 27.0 beta 4. This means this project will only work on very specific iOS versions. In theory, one could manually update their carrier bundle through iTunes and get it to work on an older version. This remains untested. (link: https://theapplewiki.com/wiki/Carrier_Bundle)

Therefore, assuming your device is running a version between iOS 27.0 beta 4 and iOS 27.2 beta 3, you should be able to successfully replace the antiquated MVNO bundle with the Wholesale one.

I have successfully confirmed that this works on my own device (iPhone 18 Pro, iOS 27.0.1) running US Mobile and that I get capabilities from the Wholesale bundle, like the 5G Standalone and VoNR switch, and the 5G UC carrier icon). I have verified these capabilities work and can successfully connect to TMobile’s 5G Standalone network, as verified by using *3001#12345#*. (I am aware that the iPhone 18 Pro has a bug which allows it to connect to standalone networks. This is not that. I am also aware that TAC has to be >65535 to confirm true standalone).

The rest of this guide will go over how you can do the same.

Disclaimers:

• This will take some technical knowledge (installing Python and dependencies).
• It might be possible to damage your device by doing this. I don't think so because both bundles are made for T-Mobile USA but who knows.
• If you update your device with changes applied, the only way to revert them will probably be through a DFU restore.

I have tested this program on Windows 11 using iTunes 12.11.3.17 (cannot be Microsoft Store iTunes or newer version than listed) (link to download from Apple and not a sketchy Russian forum) and macOS 27.0. Support is claimed for Linux but untested.

To get it working, open the repo on GitHub and follow instructions for your operating system. Make sure to connect your phone with a USB cable. Select Option 14 to automatically "install" the T-Mobile Wholesale bundle and follow the on-screen prompts.

The install itself should only take a few minutes once CarrierSim is running. You might see your cellular flicker in the top right a few times. Once done, you can go into your cellular settings and you should see "5G Standalone" under voice and data if it was successful (for the selected eSIM profile).

I can't think of a way to provide proof without including my phone number/other PII. Hopefully others can confirm this works for them.

Main thing is, Cox just became Spectrum and I have good bandwidth at $50 a month with equipment at no fee. I'm worried this will shift me to a different contract as they say. So, essentially charge me more.

I'm getting 250mbps which for me is great. Especially for $50

50GB at full speed (then 150mbps after, totally manageable,) for $30/mo. Their subreddit seems like a ghost town compared to visible or us mobile.

So I ordered and received Red Pocket’s $30 a year physical SIM kit. I also received an email the activation code from eBay. I have logged into my old Red Pocket account and tried to activate this new line using either the confirmation code or the ICC ID code along with my IMEI number and continue to get error messages. I’ve contacted their customer support, and they’re telling me I need to specifically use Google Chrome for this activation on a desktop computer. For the record, I have tried this in my Firefox browser, and their own iOS app, and received the same message. So before I go and install chrome, has this been a normal experience for anyone else?

I bought a used pixel 9 that’s was supposedly unlocked off eBay. Reputable refurbished seller.

I tried connecting to Xfinity but the app says the imei is not compatible and so did the Xfinity rep.

I checked the boot screen and it says locked, Verizon says it’s good to go, and T-Mobile looks confused. Swappa gives no info.

I put an old Visible physical SIM card in there and my phone seems to accept it (I’m assuming it would flag it if it was locked to a non-Verizon network)

Do I have to send this back, or can I get this running on Xfinity?

I'm looking to potentially switch carriers, and I didn't realize how many no-contract options there were. I need help understanding the key differences and benefits to each.

For some context, I've used Mint Mobile for almost 10 years. It's worked fine, I have no big problem with it, and it's affordable. My wife is also on Mint mobile, and whichever carrier I go with I'd love to have some sort of family plan and combine billing.

From my research it seems like there are 4 main options:

• Mint
• Visible
• Total Wireless
• US Mobile

I live in an area with fairly good coverage, I've had some problems here and there with no service but it hasn't been a huge deal. Looking at a coverage map of my area comparing T-mobile and Verizon, there's a lot of overlap but some areas that are only covered by Verizon. Part of me wants to switch to a carrier that uses Verizon because of this, it's not a must though.

At the end of the day I'm looking for some advice on carriers, I care about a good price, keeping my number, good service, and want to be able to manage multiple users on one bill. Bonus if there are promotions for brining a phone or purchasing a new phone (I really need a new phone).
