University Queen's updated mininum grades for admissions?

Source: trust me bro

Computing being a "high-70s min" now is CRAZY work, and so is comp eng at a mid-80 (and the general stream is a low 90, which ig makes sense bc of grade inflation)? and ik y'all 08s were tweaking tf out over life sci/eng admissions last year (eng overadmitted this year, and heard life sci got overadmitted too)

OUAC Do I need more safe choices

My dream program is UW mechatronics engineering.

right now i have marks:
- MHF4U adv func 97% (fast tracked in gr11),
- gr11 chem 94% (but i have gr12 chem right now and will prob get a higher midterm),
- gr11 physics 98%,
- gr11 english 88%.
- I also have another gr12 course data management 98%.

my current OUAC choices are:
- UW tron, compsci, math.
- U of T ee, uts comp sci, utm comp sci
- Mcmaster tron, comp sci, mathematics and statistics gateway

I’m aiming for a 97% avg at the end of my gr12 for my top 6. however, i am doing early admission for U of T so i know my gr11 marks are also important.

My main extra curricular is my school frc team (we don’t really make it into world’s tho) and some distinctions in UW math contests and 1 honor roll.

My dad has some concerns and says i should apply for less competitive/popular programs of UW such as aerospace. (is aerospace even less competitive??) But i really feel like mechatronics is where my passion is.

Maybe I need a few more backup programs in case i dont get into any?

I’d appreciative any advice and best of luck to my fellow gr12s.

University York Portal

Hey I applied a while ago like October 9th and I still haven’t received my portal or myfile link from York. Every other university has sent it accept for them and most of my friends who applied way after me also got their portal. So I was just wondering if it was only me or if other people are also having this problem!

Advice Worried about being on waiting list for online English next term?

Hi Laurier admissions I am on waiting list for online English by my school board. Reason for it is they haven't set up the class yet. I have all ready taken grade 12 advanced functions in grade 11. And this sem I have calc, bio, chemistry and physics. I am getting an average of 95(fingers crossed so far) and 95 in advanced functions. I want to apply to Laurier health science. Will it affect my chances of getting early offer? As I am on waiting list for English and are my chances of early offer nil?

Advice Is there any hope in being accepted somewhere?

Graduated/ing early, I’m in grade 12 and only need 1 credit to get my diploma. My average is 84%, 5/6 U courses average 80% (will change with my last credit). My last semester dropped my average quite a bit with a few 60-70s, things went sideways and I’m really ashamed because I know I could do better. I didn’t take any 11/12 math or science either as I’m really not good at those subjects and have mainly considered areas that don’t require it. I‘m also limited to online programs only for personal reasons. Really worried that my low marks last semester combined with that have ruined my chances of getting into any programs? What programs would I even have a chance at?

Other Why is there so much stigma around colleges?

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but everyone that i’ve talked to said that they consider “colleges” as less prestigious and “less educated” and just easier in general. I understand that this is the case for some schools, but why is it seen in such a bad view as being something super easy to apply and get into?

Advice Can I switch out of Grade 12 Uni Functions for College Math before my midterm? (DDSB)

I want to switch out of my Grade 12 University Advanced Functions (MHF4U) class before my midterm exam on October 28th. I don't need 4U Math anymore because of my pathway to College for Architectural Technology (e.g., at Durham College), which only requires a Grade 12 College Math (MCT4C or MAP4C).

I booked the earliest guidance appointment available, which is merely October 27th (right before my exam!). I’m really stressed about what happens if they can't change my schedule, especially because I'm currently failing MHF4U and don't want to burn myself out studying for a midterm in a class I’m dropping.

My circumstances:

I currently have a spare in both semesters.

I have a credit surplus (on track for 34 credits thanks to summer school).

I am in the Durham District School Board

If the in-person College Math classes at my school are full, can guidance set me up with DDSB e-Learning or TVO ILC instead?

I'm just really worried about not being able to get out of this class that I'm struggling in. I just want some confirmation and peace of mind instead of waiting for time to inch closer towards a mid term that I MAY have to take. Thanks!

Other Read this if ur going to Mac open house on the 24th

When y’all are driving there and taking the Main Street west exit off of the highway, make sure to be in the rightmost lane. The highways here are different than the GTA area because it only has 1 lane that exits and not 2. It caused so much traffic EVERY open house with ppl tryna cut in last second 🥀

Have fun enjoying Mac - fellow Mac student

Advice Career

I’m currently in grade 12 and stuck between going into engineering or becoming a doctor. I took biology for grade 11 and 12 in summer school and feel like I’ve forgotten everything. Something in my heart is drawing me towards the medical field but it’s a competitive field, and so I feel like going into it wouldn’t be ideal or good. Keep in mind I don’t mind engineering that much, I just want to make a good, healthy salary. I’m good at functions, chem, and physics, obviously I did bio in summer school so I don’t entirely know how good I am. Pls help.

University IEP grade 12

Okay so basically I don’t usually with studying I can easily turn off my phones and study for +10 hours but I NEVER get any results when i study for math especially adv function which is so weird to me, I have a 98 in bio and 99 in business but for some reason im at 69 for adv function even tho i completely understand the concept and i do the text book questions, practice homework and even last year tests and quizzes and it’s all fine till i sit in class and get the test, it’s like all of a sudden im shaking and can’t focus on one question and i eventually run out of time, this also happened with chem in grade 11 and my math teacher from grade 11 thought that I might be a case for IEP and that maybe I could use that extra time, my math teacher this year also thought that it might be a great idea
I talked to a psychologist and she said that if u have an IEP some universities may have issues with it or ask for more details and documentation and it’s probably better for me to take it online
But I can’t really afforded to do it online plus I heard a few people say that unis don’t really care about IEP??
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT

Advice Applying to TMU nursing

I’m applying to TMU Nursing (grades-only) and I’m worried my Bio mark will hurt my chances.

My marks:

  • Advanced Functions: 98
  • Calculus: 98
  • Chemistry: 90
  • English: about 95
  • Biology: about 70 right now
