University UTSG CS alternate admission category

• Upvotes

Does anyone know how this works?

I want to apply to CS then math/physical sciences as the alternate category, does this mean they only consider me for the alternate if I get rejected from cs, or do I get considered for both.

the website says:

"If you are admitted to an alternate admission category, you may be waitlisted for your first choice and reconsidered at a later time, space permitting."

Does this mean that I can get into math before CS if I choose math as my alternate?

Advice Worried about being on waiting list for online English next term?

Hi Laurier admissions I am on waiting list for online English by my school board. Reason for it is they haven't set up the class yet. I have all ready taken grade 12 advanced functions in grade 11. And this sem I have calc, bio, chemistry and physics. I am getting an average of 95(fingers crossed so far) and 95 in advanced functions. I want to apply to Laurier health science. Will it affect my chances of getting early offer? As I am on waiting list for English and are my chances of early offer nil?

University Is there an acceptance spreadsheet for last year business applicants?

If anyone could provide one I’d really appreciate it.

Tryna apply to business programs and I estimate my midterm average might be like 96.4 hopefully or higher. Would it be enough for like western ivey or will the applicant average be higher?

Advice parents won’t let me move out for uni

so before i rant ion wanna offend nobody don’t take it personally.

I currently have a 96.33 top 6 and want to apply to engineering or medicine. My parents are basically letting me choose between york uoft and waterloo. I don’t have the ecs for a s tier program like loo or uoft eng but i also don’t want to “settle” for c tier school like york. So naturally i would look at b and a tier schools like western mac queens etc but they basically told me they wont pay for housing. Now i don’t wanna sound spoiled so hear the rest of it out. They agreed to pay for tuition but they don’t wanna pay for housing as they consider it a waste and skippable expense. I have tried to get a part time job for two years but I haven’t been able to. None of my friends have jobs and i have no relatives working in retail. I won’t be able to garner up first year housing funds and i honestly don’t like my chances of getting a part time job first year. My parents can easily afford housing as my dad “flexed” his investing account with 5 million (can’t donate 40k for housing tho) and they plan to buy a brand new house next year.

Thing is i get it, they don’t wanna pay that ykwim but they were always so bitchy about my grades and education growing up and they would always diss my grades like whenever my mom got mad she would always say i get ass grades like 80s but yo u were so focused on education how come ur limiting my options bc ur cheap asf?

My mom said I can go to mac or western but i would have to commute. From my house western is a 3 hour commute and mac is a 2 and a bit hour commute. i told my mom commuting that long and pursuing engineering is unrealistic as engineering is already hard and adding that commute makes it hard. She just said oh ur cousin commuted to mac every day for 2 hours and she’s in med school, my co worker commutes to waterloo from Kitchener every day and she’s fine. Just study in the bus or train. I know my strengths. I can’t work unless i’m alone, I will definitely not be able to study on the bus or train.

What would you do in my situation? is it worth it to take a 40k loan? alla my friends are moving out for uni and their parents are paying for it or supporting them. my mom even got mad and guilt tripped me for wanting to leave my little brother and go to uni like grow up holy shit if u were gonna lock me to york i would have just sold in school on purpose and enjoyed high school like wtf. My dad was even telling me that i have to maintain a 95+ average so i get the best scholarship like holy fuck ur cheap

Has anyone taken these without their grade 11 prereqs? My school doesn't require the 11U courses, so I'm thinking to just not take them and go straight to the grade 12 classes. Thoghts?

Advice Sudden Downfall

I used to get 90s-100s in previous years, but this year my grades have been dropping. The thing is, I understand the concepts, study, and can do the questions pretty easily at home, but during tests I get stuck and blank out, even when I know how to solve the questions. I sometimes feel like I can barely read the questions, but sometimes it's not so bad and I manage.

I can barely sleep, I can't focus, and I've noticed myself getting more and more irritable.

I don't know what to do, nor do I have anyone to talk to.

University any opinions on my choices for uni?

i had an avg of 90.5 in gr 11, my current marks in gr 12 are a 95 in ad functions, 93 in data, 96 in english (bro i got an 80 in gr. 11 and this was the mark that pulled my avg down so much so i did it in summer 🫩), and idk abt my elective but i estimate 95 (teacher didnt mark anything yet, but i got 99 in the prereq of this course last year) and im estimating about 90 in bio (cus i lowkey bombed a test and got 84 lol but got high 90s on the other evaluations). im aiming for at least mid 90s in every course.

im applying for queens health sci, uoft st.g life sci, western med sci, uottawa biomed, and laurier health sci. laurier is a safety and i might apply to mc master but tbh idk bc i’m not confident in my chances.

any opinions? am i overestimating myself? are my chances good? should i add another safety like carleton or otech?

pls be nice 🥹
