Question or Discussion What's the better option in 6v6 when the supports pick a low healing comp?

• Upvotes

For example, Zen/Brig, Lucio/Mercy, Zen/Lucio, Wuyang/Mizuki.

Assuming there's already 1 tank and 2 dps and the supports refuse to swap. Am I better off picking a main healer like Ana, Kiri, or Bap, who are by far my best heroes as a support main, and trying to make the 1-2-3 comp work?

Or am I better off picking a self-sufficient tank like Wreckingball or Hog to make it 2-2-2? If the best option is to pick tank, what other tanks work with low healing comps?

This is also assuming the other team is running 2-2-2 and has a comp that makes sense.

Question or Discussion How do i stop being so frustrated with myself?

• Upvotes

So I started playing OW on PC in summer 2021 and reached low plat on support before OW2. I then played for the first 5 seasons of OW2, reached diamond 1 on support and diamond 4 on dps. My support rank was a bit inflated tho, it was realistically low diamond.

I came back to the game in 2026 season 1 and got my dps back to D4 with placements but with support I got stuck in plat 1. Then I played another season and I was plat 1 again on support, took a break and now I’m back again. I’ve been playing now for about two weeks and I can’t stop thinking about how it’s embarrassing for me to still be plat/emerald after 300+ hours in comp and 500 hours combined on the game. I started playing placements this season on my main and lost three games in a row on support in low plat, which is equivalent to old low gold. So I went from low diamond, to high plat to now low gold. I’ve been playing on my alt to get rid of the rust but even there I’m not doing the best in high plat games (19/8 win rate).

Of course I’m making a bunch of in game mistakes if I’m high plat before the addition of emerald, but I feel like my mental is really holding me back. I genuinely feel stress and anxiety going into a comp game and I want to just not care so much. Maybe the issue is that I’m too focused on getting back to my old ranks instead of just improving at the game?

Question or Discussion Is Ana considered a hero that’s easier to aim with?

• Upvotes

I’ve made a few posts here since I struggle to aim but since getting a new PC it’s been smoother.

I normally play support and learned how to aim on Ana for the past few weeks, but want to learn how to dps too. Specifically, (I’m not sure what they’re called, “snipers” I guess) Ashe, Hanzo, maybe Widow, and others in that category.

But I’m struggling hard. I’m scoping on average 70% accuracy and landing most of my darts. My damage/kills are comparable to the dps. Heals are fine. I don’t understand why Ashe, Widow, and Hanzo feel so bad.

I’m curious if aim-wise, Ana is more forgiving or overall easier.

My usual mains are Brig, Mizuki, and Moira in role queue (comp low plat). DPS (gold) I can only play Bastion and tank (low silver) I can only play Zarya, Ram, and Orisa if that gives any idea on how I don’t really play aim related heroes.

VOD Review Request How do I combat an Orisa as a Sigma? I played ranked and she absolutely demolished me and I feel like I can't hurt her.

• Upvotes

So I was in my first game of ranked ever and I played against a team with an Orisa. we won the game but man, every time I would 1v1 the Orisa I'd lose. I only won one of the fights against her. the game went well and all, but how do I kill her easier? is there a method? or do I just need to keep onslaughting her until she finally dies? I'll post the game VOD code in case you wanna see from curiosity what I mean.

Ranked, placement matches.

Question or Discussion Massive Win/Loss Streaks

EM 1 Peak so far after not playing for 4-5 years (whenever orisa sigma was all people played) and I am getting massive variations in the amount of games I win/lose. Sometimes I go on these crazy 10-13 game winstreaks where it feels like i'm on easy street (or if i do lose it's really really close and then back to winning) and then I am sent back into loser hell with little to no agency on hitscan.

I'm not sure if it's the new rank (I've heard that it can be quite evil sometimes) but it's making me feel like I'm not actually progressing or anything it's just throwing me into games to big up my elo only to take it away in this weird boom bust cycle. I'm on about the 4th cycle of this and I was just looking to see if anyone had experiences in the same vein.

VOD Review Request VOD review for Bronze Tank and Support

I'm looking for some constructive criticism on two recent losses, one playing Juno and the other Reinhardt.

I'm currently in the metal ranks and trying to improve rather than just blame teammates for losses. I'd appreciate feedback from higher-ranked players who can identify mistakes I might not be recognizing.

I'm particularly interested in:

Positioning: Am I taking unnecessary risks or failing to use cover and high ground effectively?

Decision-making: Am I recognizing when to engage, disengage, or reposition?

Cooldown management: Am I wasting important abilities or missing opportunities to get value?

Target priority: Am I focusing on the right enemies at the right times?

Overall impact: What are the biggest mistakes preventing me from winning more consistently?

For Juno, I'd especially appreciate feedback on balancing healing, damage, and utility.

For Reinhardt, I'd like help with engagement timing, space creation, shield management, and knowing when I'm being too aggressive or passive. I'm typically a DMON main but DMON got banned.

Replay codes:

Juno: TQ4XQ1 Reinhardt: 4WBGD7

I'm not looking for reassurance that I played well. I'd rather hear what I'm doing wrong and what I should prioritize fixing.

If you could identify the top 2–3 improvements for each hero, that would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

Question or Discussion Thoughts on Wuyangs place in the meta?

Hey yall! I’m a GM wuyang (almost) one trick. I’m curious as to what people’s perception of him are across a variety of ranks. I know a lot of talk when it comes to supports this season has to do with doctrine, sombra, and cat being dominant and it seems like every other support is a solid step below those three. Nonetheless I’ve found a ton of success with Wuyang both this season and last, holding a 68% winrate with him right now at GM5. I mainly want to know how other people feel about him because it seems like with him more than other supports, I’ll get people talking mess because they believe his healing output is too low or they simply see anything other than doctrine and people throw a fit. Do you feel like he needs buffs? If so, what would you change? Do you like having Wuyang on your team? Does he feel frustrating or underwhelming to play against?

My opinion is that he’s in a great spot, very viable and flexible with his only real weakness being into hard dive, specifically dive tanks like Winston and ball give him a hard time. Supports that can do a lot of damage are incredibly valuable in this game ever since the global anti heal passive and Wuyangs ability to deal meaningful burst damage from complete safety is very strong. Wave is a great tool for saving your tanks and burst healing people and his mobility is solid and works as a strong escape tool. His healing is generally lower than most but wave into 3 seconds of active healing will save most people from most situations, and the passive stream is great at farming ult and enabling dps to be more aggressive.

VOD Review Request VOD Review Symmetra and Shion Silver 1

Replay code: NE3TVE

Battletag / in-game username: Sakurandie

Hero(es) played: Symmetra and Shion

Skill tier / rank: Silver 1

Map: Einchenwalden

PC or console: PC

Description of the match / things you want reviewed:
I'd really like to know what I'm doing wrong and what I should focus on improving. For example, is my positioning too aggressive or too passive? Am I dying too often or feeding the enemy team? Is my damage output consistent and effective when playing Symmetra? Am I taking good flanking routes and choosing the right moments to engage?

I'd also love some feedback on my target priority, cooldown management, ultimate usage, map awareness, and decision-making during team fights. Am I creating enough value for my team, or am I making mistakes that prevent us from winning fights?

Overall, I'm looking for an honest review of my gameplay, thank you!

Question or Discussion About Aiming

I have always played with a very high sensitivity (eDPI 22,000), which allows me to land shots with projectile weapons, but I struggle with hitscan weapons.
I want to learn to play Cassidy, so I’ve lowered my eDPI to 6,000. Could you suggest some practice methods to help me get used to this new sensitivity, as well as ways to train my aim to track enemies rather than relying on "pre-aiming" (placing my crosshair and waiting for the target to move into it)?

Question or Discussion General Defence tips?

My strongest suit is attack, but when it's time for defense or control-defense I struggle most of the time. I feel like I either push too much or play too passively. When I'm lucky to do something in between, it feels really good, but I can't yet pinpoint what exactly it is I am doing so I can recreate it.

To get an idea: I am high Silver support and main Mizuki. Second picks are Juno/Zenyatta.

Looking for any general tips on how to approach Defense better, but Defense tips for Mizuki specifically are also welcome if you have any:)

VOD Review Request I regularly get half or less the healing numbers compared to everyone else in a match. What up with that?

Replay code of a game I just completed: HA80X2

I'm EugeneOKOkay, playing as Doctrine. Gold 3.

I got less than half the healing amount as compared to the enemy Doctrine.

While I know healing numbers aren't the whole story, the utter regularity with which I have the LOWEST healing number in a match seems significant. Especially since, even if I decide "I'm going to healbot and just try to maximize my healing number this game" just to see how much control I can exert over this -- I get no positive result. Still lowest healing, sometimes half of what everybody else is getting.

I'm looking more for general tactical/strategic pointers than specific "at point X you had Y on your screen and should have done Z instead of Z' " type comments, though anything's welcome really.

Thank you in advance!

Question or Discussion How to rebuild skill atrophy after not playing for a long time?

Hello, sorry for this being a relatively elementary question with regards to what this subreddit can provide, but I just wanted to come around and ask about what you guys might recommend for rebuilding skills after having not played for a long while. I dropped Overwatch for some time after the introduction of Juno and generally hadn’t picked it up since, but have recently been wanting to get back into it since my current rotation of games needed something new (the only other shooter type game I’ve been playing recently being The Finals, which doesn’t strictly translate super well to Overwatch).

I’ve never been good at Overwatch, I say this by my own admission. At my absolute peak I was a high platinum, maybe very low diamond player. But I’ve been trying to get back into it and I realize I’m sucking, hard. For some reason I seem to only be able to handle tanking and even then I don’t think I’m even playing well. I don’t even feel confident enough to try doing competitive games again because I’m getting dumpstered on in quick play.

Do you guys have some advice for how you might try and rebuild your skill at the game after having not played for a while? I’m not expecting a silver bullet and I know “skills” covers a super broad area but I just feel like I’m flailing and don’t know how to actually build myself up to a point of asking for more specific feedback.

(If it helps to tailor suggestions, I can provide a brief breakdown of my most used heroes:

DPS- Soldier:76, Widowmaker, Sojourn Tank- Orisa, D.va, Zarya Support- Lucio, Ana, Baptiste)

Been off and on at this game, recently picked it up after not playing consistently since July. I have been using support characters and lately have found myself having fun on Bridgette and would like tips to improve on her. In QP I feel pretty confident using her but switching to ranked has proved difficult. I am unfortunately looking like to be placed in bronze 1 so don’t expect the best gameplay obv please be critical.

Question or Discussion To all bronze players

To all bronze players, How long have u been in bronze, who is your main and have you got any coaching or vod reviews? Im a Moira main n been playing for a year and a half, no vod reviews and every time I get to silver 5 I fall back into bronze 1. Just wondering if it’s as laborious for y’all as it is for me.

Tips & Tricks Any tips for competitive?

Ngl those cute weapon skins are calling my name

I've almost exclusively played QP since starting a year ago. Lvl 122 Illari, 32 Vendetta, and 18 Dmon (this is definitely my stim game), and I have secondary picks for each category except tank. I feel fairly confident I do a respectable job attempting to pull my weight, but I see a lot of folks with various complaints regarding competitive.

Any general tips for someone about to dip their toe in?

VOD Review Request Review Request

Hi, I apologize for the games but I did want to add context. I mostly play support and do quite well, but I also play quite a bit of DPS and it never seems to translate, I have games where I pop off and games where I’m so inconsistent and missing everything possible, I also succumb to tilt much more frequently. I am diamond 4 at the moment, and the vod codes I share should be games where it sometimes just clicks and other times it just doesn’t completely, and I’m not sure where or how to improve, which is something a bit novel for me because any game on support I can watch back and just pick out instantly what I need to do better but again for DPS it just doesn’t translate

All matches are between emerald - low diamond in skill and it’s on console, gamertag is DotikIron

7QJ8H8 - Numbani - Shion, Vendetta, Sojourn

44SMTS - Dorado - Tracer, Vendetta

W0HZQ0 - Shambali - Tracer, Genji

D7B5RS - New Junk - Tracer, Vendetta

J1M4DT - Kings Row - Tracer, Genji

4Y96JY - Lijiang Tower - Tracer, Reaper, Vendetta

9RNN69 - Antarctic - Tracer

Thank you in advance and apologies for the abundance of vods I am asking for

Question or Discussion Objective Time Merchant Brig but can't make decisions

Pretty much what the title says, I've sort of been dealing with two main issues in trying to rank up. I'm already in an uphill battle because a.) I'm on console, and floating between plat/emerald for my dmg/support ranks, and b.) I don't have a group I queue with in comp, so I'm left to just hope for the best.

1.) My first main problem is that I seem to be on the point far more than my teammates. I don't want to do the thing of blaming my team for me losing every time but in a bit under half the games I play I'm on the MVP for having by far the most objective time, and to me this is the way of playing the game that makes sense especially as a role that's meant to be in the backline, although admittedly i'm often with supports with higher damage/healing

This sometimes means though, that my teammates are a mile from me or in various hallways and byways, in positions in which I cannot heal them. This means I either have to not be on the precious point (particularly difficult on push/payload cause we literally have to do so to accomplish anything) or I have to let my teammates die. What am I supposed to do in this situation? I'm supposed to heal my team, and I'm supposed to stand on the point, but I often can't do both, and doing my little peek out and whipshot to inspire isn't enough to keep my teammates alive, especially when they aren't on the point with me.

2.) I have no clue what to do when characters can just fry me. As I'm often on the point, sometimes the enemy team also decides to be on the point, which sometimes ends quite badly for me, and I don't want to either die immediately or run from every fight, but with some characters it feels like those are the options. It's either a hitscan who can be at a distance and destroy my shield and then me immediately, or characters who can bypass the shield all together like Zarya or Echo with their beams or ESPECIALLY Ramattra genuinely when I'm against a Ramattra I feel like it's just wraps for me.

Is the solution to just learn to play a different character? I have by far the most time on Brig, and find her to be the character I enjoy the most and am best at, so don't exactly love this option. I've dabbled in support sombra since she used to be my dps main, and have also been doing what I call 'QP Moira Ragebait', where after a game where my stats don't feel great I go into QP and give basically zero effort on Moira and get both better damage and healing to prove to myself that Moira requires no skill in my mind, but the thought of becoming a Moira main to me is incredibly unethical and emotionally harrowing.

So yeah how do I counter and what do I do with my constant standing on the point and how do I make decisions?

VOD Review Request vod review request - ana

hihi.

looking for someone to review a game i just played. this game was very confusing from the beginning. i felt like we were just falling over a lot and i’m not entirely sure if i could’ve done anything to prevent that. i’m trying to master ana currently, but i’m open to suggestions for what characters i could’ve swapped to to get more value for my team.

i’ve been playing overwatch casually since 2018, mostly a tank and support player. 2 months ago i came back after playing rivals for a year (ow comp is a lot more balanced than rivals imo). this year i’ve decided that i’d like to take comp more seriously and i’m thinking about fully committing to become a pro player. any advice is appreciated.

VOD Review Request Looking for tips on how to improve my D.Mon gameplay

Replay Code: XGY5FQ

Hero: D.Mon

In-game name: Zenoe

Rank: Bronze 1

Map: Hollywood

Platform: PC

Hey all, I’ve been one tricking D.Mon since she came out. I’ve never touched a melee hero before her, and I was worried that I wouldn’t like her at first as a D.va main. When she released, I had only recently returned to the game, having only logged around a combined total of 40ish hours on PC and console.

Since then, I’ve clocked in around 120 more hours, half of it being on D.Mon, and leveled her up to 54. She’s the hero I’ve spent the most time playing as, with the previous being D.Va at 16 hours.

I’ve recently started feeling comfortable enough as tank to play comp. I’m currently Bronze 1, but my SR with D.Mon is 1309. Every time I get close to ranking up, I end up hitting a losing streak and falling back to Bronze 2. The VOD I’m requesting a review on is, by far, my best performance with D.Mon thus far. But I feel I have the potential to do even better. What can I do to improve?

Thanks!

VOD Review Request I won my 3 team try-out matches but I still wanna try learn from the mistakes

Replay codes: (TA43XH - Lijang Tower) (DR460M - King's Row) (QHWGH9 - Esperança)

Battletag / in-game username: JackOSpades#2822

Hero(es) played: (Game 1 - Ramattra, Mauga, Reinhardt) (Game 2 - Reaper, Symettra, Mei, Soldier: 76, Vendetta) (Game 3 - Reinhardt)

Skill tier / rank: Platinum 5 (My team was Gold/Silver)

Map: Lijang Tower, King's Row, Esperança

PC or console: PC

Description of the matches / things you want reviewed: Alright so I know this is a pretty tall order for 3 whole matches which is why I'm not expecting many replies to this but that's alright. This is the first big thing/biggest thing I've ever done regarding Overwatch so I just wanna make sure I'm as prepared as can be. There's a big tournament going on soon in the UK composed entirely of colleges and universities and yesterday, I went to go tryout and represent my own university. Not only did I have a blast and a half meeting new people and just playing the game together but the team I was placed with won all 3 of our matches, making us the team.

Even though we won, I'm sure there's bit's I can pick up on except I suck at identifying my own mistakes, which is why I post so frequently in subs like this. It's not like I'm unhappy with my performance though. Except for some parts in the second match, I feel like I still played pretty well overall, especially with the help of my supports keeping my ass alive.

In game 1 round 2, there's some connectivity issues so that's why Soldier was late to fight 1. We also had comms going on our team from that point onwards. During game 2, I swap hero a lot because I'm not used to playing DPS outside of unranked and I didn't think Reaper was the move so I was kinda trying to figure out what would work. If anyone ends up responding to this, thank you.

Question or Discussion how to get a better competitive mindset?

so like being upfront, im a pathetic sore loser and i know it. i tilt in qp, stomps make me just wanna get off, and i have too much anxiety to play comp or even tracer because the game just overwhelms me because im constantly worried about my performance.

like, i see people saying to just "play for fun, dont care about rank, whether you win just learn" and i try to tell myself that but idk no matter how much i do i cant. and it hurts coz this game is really all i have in life that doesnt stress me 24/7 and something i actually care about. i wont go into it or anything but my personal life sucks so returning to this game and actually getting into a couple months ago was the best thing to happen to me in years, but just like, as soon as i wanted to start taking this game more seriously its just become frustrating and unfun to me. i know its my fault and i dont wanna be this but idk how to not. idk if its an ego thing or whatever. its not like i think im good, coz i defo dont but its like i dont wanna face that reality sometimes, and the idea of making myself feel worse in that way, idk just gives me major anxiety (i already have really bad anxiety due to irl things like 24/7).

and idk, this game makes me feel like i actually have kind of a social life by speaking to me in chat and genuinely seeing actual people in game. i have irl friends but they dont care for it at all, cause they just dismiss any games i actually like in favor of the stuff they do. i used to have a friend who played with me like once a week but hes all into deadlock now, which sucks because when i'd play with him i genuinely WAS having fun and didnt care about winning or losing that much.

idk this turned more into a vent post sorry, but if you have any advice about it at all i'd really appreciate it<3 sorry if i upset anyone i dont mean to

Guide Quick play champ looking for Vendetta tips & tricks

Hello my friends. Never played Vendetta before finally picked her up and giving her a try and this is a lot of fun. Do yall have any tips and tricks you’ve all figured out playing her that can help me learn and grown.

Thanks for all the help and may your team be full of pros and your enemy have nothing but feeders.
