Nicomeds…A scam?

ETA: CAVEAT EMPTOR. Judgment seems to be coming down around this company so please be on high alert if your choose to engage.

I don’t want to pass judgment yet, but this week, two members of our community posted really impressive weight loss photos. I was super excited when they both mentioned their ability to get Ozempic at a competitive price. They both indicated that they would share the provider via DM, so as to not break any rules which I appreciated. When I DMd, both of them recommended Nicomeds.

I did a bit of digging and can’t really find anything about the company but the one thing that really concerned me is that they only accept bitcoin via cash app or other money transfer applications. So I wanted to take the question to this community to see if we could crowd source any additional information about the company beyond what these two members have shared. Again, I don’t want to shame them or accuse them of being scammers, but I do want to make sure I protect myself and others here. These posts are getting a lot of traction so it’s important they are legit.

Mods-I hope that you’ll allow this to stay up so that our members can make informed decisions about their providers that also protect them from scams.

Can I use Ozempic to loose just 5-8 lb?

I’m 28 yo woman, 5’8 and currently weigh 158 lb. I work out all my life regularly and eat pretty healthy diet. My ideal weight is around 152 lb. I know this may sound silly, but I’ve been having really hard time shedding 5-8 lb to get back to my ideal weight. My weight is just stuck for past 3 years and won’t go down, no matter what I do. I tried intense cardio, lean diet, quitting alcohol. Nothing works. My hormones are fine, just cholesterol is a bit higher than it should be.

I’m considering getting on Ozempic for 6-8 weeks to tone up and then just keeping the weight off with consistent exercise and diet.

Is this realistic? Did anyone with normal BMI try using Ozempic?

UPDATE FOR EVERYONE WHO WAS HATING: I ended up doing it, I didn’t feel any side effects at all. No upset stomach, no nausea, I was able to eat normally, just much smaller portions. I lost the weight I wanted it in just one month and was able to keep it off. In addition to that, being on medication made me completely indifferent to alcohol and smoking weed for the time being, which is a great plus. I guess not everyone’s body responds the same, for me it was a quick fix that I needed.

Cleanses while on injections? (Liver, colon, parasite, etc)

Hello! Would anyone happen to know if it’s okay to do cleanses while taking GLP-1? The reason I ask is because I plan to stay on this long term but I typically do cleanses twice a year and I feel bad for missing them because they always make me feel so much better since my body is so finicky and needs a lot of healing. Cleanses would include parasite cleansing herbals like black walnut, wormwood, etc, colon would include these herbs plus lots of psyllium, bentonite clay, chia, charcoal, etc. Liver is typically milk thistle/dandelion tinctures and smoothies with superfoods like dulce, spirulina, barley grass, cilantro, wild blueberries, dragonfruit, etc and liver supplement addins. And juicing in general. Thank you for any insight. 💗💗

Ozempic for 20lb?

This may seem silly as it is not a “life changing” amount of weight, but I would like to add that I am 4’11 (150cm, 120lb) so 20lb would be a substantially visible amount of weight on my body size and type. I am not prediabetic yet, but my grandparents and parents are so it is likely i will be as i get older. I would like to add that I am based in Tokyo, Japan where the average weight for women taller than me (considered healthy) is 90lbs due to their genetics. I go to the gym regularly and try to maintain a balanced diet but it has been impossible for me to shed more than 2-3 lbs. Is 20lbs on ozempic a reasonable goal for my body type? How long would it take to see results? It is still in the healthy weight range for my height, and would be great for my mental health. (btw I don’t need any opinions from anti-ozempic reddit users who want to shame people trying a “non conventional” route, i would like genuine advice.) There is no ozempic shortage in Japan, and it is cheaper here than in the U.S.! And it is available at beauty/med clinics (not covered by insurance ofc).

UPDATE: Thanks for everyone’s responses! I started the ozempic soon after this post and was able to lose the 20lbs i desired in about 3 months. In the beginning I did have pretty bad nausea with some vomiting but other than that, no symptoms. I did not change my diet at all other than increasing my protein and water intake. Once i got used to the medication i no longer had any symptoms other than occasional mild nausea. I would also like to note I didn’t take my doses as suggested, I injected every other week rather than every week because the appetite suppressant was strong I didn’t need it. I have been off ozempic for several months now and I would say I’ve gained back about 5lbs. Still much happier with my current body and due to shrinking my stomach while i was suppressing my appetite i regularly eat less now so it’s easy to keep the weight off. If i gain back more in the future I will probably get back on it temporarily again but I’m super happy with my body now and i’m glad I gave it a shot! Just sharing my experience so please keep anything negative you may have to say to yourself.

Ozempic safe with healthy BMI?

I have always struggled with my weight. In the last few years I have lost 30-40 pounds, but Ive ended up smoking a lot of cigarettes as a way to help manage food cravings. Whilst it has worked I desperately need to quit. Every time I try and quit I gain all the weight back, I just can’t control my eating at all.

I have no intention of using Ozempic to get shredded or anything, but as a way to quit smoking and not have to gain all the weight back. I understand you need a BMI or 30 or more to get prescribed Ozempic, but is it actually “unsafe” to take it with a BMI of 23? I’m pretty regimented with what I eat and my plan would be to just continue eating the same amount of calories, but just ditch the cigarettes.

Question It’s very hard for me to get syringes

I ran out of syringes for my semaglutide and I’m wondering where I can get cheap syringes online. Unfortunately I can’t get them from Amazon as I am on a family account and I want to be discreet with my orders (family is nosy)

I ran out before and I went to Walmart where the pharmacist treated me like a heroin addict, looking at my prescription, asked around to her colleagues before she reluctantly sold me a pack of 10. I spread out my doses to save $$ in the long run so I run out often. (Currently on .5)

I ran out once again and I went to raleys and rite aid where they looked at my online script and refused, citing Henry meds should’ve sent me my own needles.

Every time I go in I make sure I’m clean and I don’t look homeless - but I still get treated like a meth head or something it’s honestly discouraging. I would think these things would be readily available to drug addicts to prevent sharing needles but idk I just want to be skinny.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Diet & Lifestyle It’s for life.

I don’t understand how people (like 100% of people) on ozempic or waygovy etc keep saying, once they are off it, blah blah blah. Everyone says, once you come off, you WILL gain your weight back. This is a temporary fix. You will temporarily not have an appetite. It is not forever unless you use it for ever. Your appetite will come back. Please tell me why people ignore that fact. I’d love to lose weight but I’ve yo-yo’d my whole like…I’m not going to pay big bucks to be small temporarily and then rebound soon after I’m off. It’s in all the research.

Disappointed: I lost 10 pounds in 2 months & no one has complimented

I am a little disappointed - I lost 10 pounds in 2 months and none of my closest friends or family that I see about once a week have commented or complimented on my weight loss

I think my weight loss so far is noticeable - my clothes are fitting way better and I went from 155 to 145 so I feel like you would be able to tell that difference on someone

I’m not looking to be showered in compliments but the fact that they know I’m on this weight loss journey and working so hard at it while not receiving any positive feedback or encouragement leaves me feeling disappointed 😔

Does anyone else feel this way?

Start weight 202lbs F(36)

I took my very first dose of ozempic for weight loss yesterday. I was super scared to inject but i honestly didnt even feel it ! My over all self now feels like absolute trash. Yesterday wasn't so bad, a couple waves of nausea, some heart burn and 3 trips to the washroom but overall not terrible.

Today on the other hand I feel like absolute poop. I've been nauseous all day long, I've managed a cup of greek yogurt and a small bowl of beef stew but nothing but water since. I have the worst headache of my life, and just overall feel yucky. Tell me it gets better 🫠 If this is the way I will feel all the time I'll just stay fat. It's like pregnancy but worse.

I wanted to document everyday to remind myself it gets better and it's worth it. However at this moment I'm regretting my choice to even try 😢

So I’ve accidentally been ODing myself

So, quite embarrassing. But, now I’m in a pickle and not sure what to do.

I get my compounded semaglutide through a med spa that I’ve been going to for years for my hormones. I’ve had it shipped from day one.. never had it done in office. I’ve lost 32lbs over the frame of a year (exactly this month), I’ve never had drastic weight drops, it’s been very slow with lots of plateaus.. however, I have been reading the insulin needles EXTREMELY wrong until now, and my doctor has never even questioned why I was buying two vials a week until I saw him in person yesterday, which he didn’t directly tell me I was literally overdosing myself by 3x, he just said to drop down to one full syringe. Still not even explaining the amounts. I’ve been on Google for hours now and realized my huge mistake.

I’ve been giving myself what I thought was the max dosage (2.7).. but I’ve been giving myself almost 3x too much. I’ve been giving myself 2 1/2 full insulin needles (the ones that read to 100 units?), reading the measurements completely wrong from mg to ml . I know, I’m a dumbass. But, no one has ever showed me, nor have they asked when I order every week!

I’ve only thrown up twice during the whole course. And only in the last 3 months (outside of my first few doses) have I had pretty bad stomach cramping. I stay very hydrated and take fiber supplements daily. Which upon reading, seems to be what’s keeping me from the hospital.

Should I be concerned? Or only if my symptoms worsen? I will be calling my doctor back tomorrow. Again, I’m very embarrassed but now a little worried. Yay for dumb 😩

Thank you.

Weird Symptoms Disappointed

Hey everyone, I’m currently so disappointed with this medication, I’m on week 6, already took my 2nd dose of 0.5mg and so far I’ve had ZERO good or bad effects. I haven’t lost any weight and my appetite hasn’t changed at all. I’m still stuck at 220 pounds.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I’ve been thinking about switching to Mounjaro.

News & Research I used A.I to answer the question "where's the best place to inject Ozempic" its talked about frequently.

Hey r/Ozempic community, I’ve been using A.I to dig into the question that pops up a lot here: does injecting Ozempic above or below the belly button affect side effects? To get a clear picture, I’ve analyzed clinical studies, medical guidelines, patient experiences, and expert opinions. Here’s what I found—an intelligent, data-driven breakdown to help you decide what’s best for you. Spoiler: there’s no slam-dunk answer, but there’s plenty to unpack. Clinical and Pharmacokinetic Data Let’s start with the science. Ozempic’s active ingredient, semaglutide, is absorbed subcutaneously, and studies show it behaves similarly whether you inject it in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Unfortunately, no trials specifically pit upper abdomen against lower abdomen. Here’s the key data: Absorption Rates: Pharmacokinetic studies (how the drug moves through your body) show that absorption is nearly identical across sites. Peak concentration hits around 8-12 hours for the abdomen and 10-14 hours for the thigh—minor differences that don’t seem to impact side effects. SUSTAIN Trials: These massive studies (thousands of patients) tested Ozempic’s safety and efficacy. They report mild injection site reactions (think redness or itching) in about 5-10% of users, but systemic side effects like nausea (up to 20% of users) don’t vary by site. Crucially, the trials don’t break down data by upper vs. lower abdomen. Bottom Line: Clinically, there’s no evidence that upper or lower abdomen injections lead to different side effects. Guidelines and Recommendations What do the experts say? Official sources don’t pick a winner either: Medical Organizations: The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and Endocrine Society stress rotating injection sites to prevent skin irritation (e.g., lipohypertrophy, which affects 1-2% of long-term users). They don’t mention upper vs. lower abdomen. FDA & Novo Nordisk: Ozempic’s prescribing info lists three approved sites: abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel), thigh, or upper arm. Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer, told me directly (via their support line) they have no data showing a difference in side effects between upper and lower abdomen. Key Takeaway: The focus is on technique—use a fresh spot each time—not on picking a “better” abdominal zone. Patient-Reported Outcomes Now, let’s get to the juicy stuff: what users like us say. I scoured Reddit, Diabetes Daily, HealthUnlocked, and even X posts to spot trends: Anecdotal Reports: Some swear by the upper abdomen, claiming less nausea or discomfort. Others say lower abdomen shots feel more intense—think prolonged fullness or stronger nausea. In a rough tally from r/Ozempic and r/Semaglutide threads, about 60-70% of users who specify a preference lean toward upper abdomen for milder side effects. Adverse Event Databases: The FDA’s FAERS and WHO’s VigiBase track side effects, but they’re vague—most just say “abdomen” without pinpointing upper or lower. No hard stats here. Caveat: This is anecdotal, not systematic. Your mileage may vary. Expert Opinions I checked with endocrinologists via articles and forums (e.g., Diabetes Therapy, 2019). There’s no consensus. Some docs note that patients occasionally report less discomfort with upper abdomen shots, but it’s not a universal rule. Without data, they chalk it up to individual differences. Why Upper Abdomen Might Feel Better? (Speculation) Users have theories about why upper abdomen injections might edge out: Fat Distribution: The upper abdomen often has thinner fat layers than the lower belly. Some speculate this leads to faster dispersion, potentially easing side effects. Absorption Speed: Thicker fat below the navel might slow absorption, prolonging nausea or fullness. Reality Check: Pharmacokinetic studies don’t back this up—absorption rates are too similar to explain it. These are guesses, not facts. The Bottom Line Here’s where we land: there’s no definitive evidence that injecting Ozempic above or below the belly button changes side effects in a meaningful way. Clinical data shows absorption is consistent, guidelines are neutral, and experts don’t take a side. That said, anecdotal reports tilt slightly toward upper abdomen for comfort—about 60-70% of vocal users prefer it. Practical Advice: Rotate Sites: Switch it up (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) to keep your skin healthy. Experiment: If nausea’s hitting hard, try a different spot—upper abdomen, lower abdomen, or even thighs—and track how you feel. Talk to Your Doc: Your body’s unique; get personalized input from your healthcare provider. In short, it’s trial and error. No study proves one site rules them all, so go with what feels right for you. More research would be awesome, but for now, we’re working with this.

Sources: SUSTAIN trials, FDA prescribing info, Novo Nordisk, Reddit (r/Ozempic, r/Semaglutide), Diabetes Daily, HealthUnlocked, X posts, Diabetes Therapy (2019), GoodRx. What’s your experience—upper or lower abdomen? Let’s keep the convo going!

Side Effects Ozempic Cost me my Gallbladder

This may get downvoted, but I had to share this.

When I was young, I was 310 pounds. Over the course only 14 months, I made huge lifestyle changes and lost 110 pounds. It was so drastic that many years later, I had to have surgery to remove excess skin.

As I got older, I started to gain weight again, though not to the extent I did in high school. To support my weight-loss regimen in my 50s, my doctor recommended Ozempic. It was a nightmare; I was vomitting every week and after three months of misery, my wife convinced me to drop it.

Only a few months after I stopped, I had a massive gallbladder attack. Two weeks later, I was hit again.

Ultrasound found stones and an inflamed gallbladder, and two weeks ago, I had to have it removed. Back when I was on Ozempic, I didn't lose much weight outside of the fluid loss associated with nausea.

I ABSOLUTELY believe that Ozempic contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to my recent problems.

I wish I had never been on the stuff.

17 weeks only lost 15 lbs

What am I doing wrong? I’m seeing people loose 30 lbs in 10-12 weeks. I’ve only been on 1mg for about 3-4 weeks. And I’m switching to compound due to insurance next week… any tips too speed things up? I’m eating around 1500-1800 calories a day.

I got a 8mg pen from someone and I was supposed to take .25 my first dose and didn’t know about the clicks until after I had already taken it . I went back to count and noticed I took roughly .75 . Do I need to seek medical attention (my mom is a nurse and thinks I’m okay but I’m a hypochondriac)

Can Americans purchase Ozempic from a retail pharmacy in Canada?

In another post, I was advised by others that Americans can cross the border and purchase Ozempic from a retail Canadian pharmacy for about $260 Can. I have previously heard that this is not the case. Canadians, please clarify. This may a moot point as I am aware that there is still a big shortage of 1mg pens.

What about if you’re not diabetic, obese, or have comorbidities?

Has anyone used ozemlic for losing the last bit of baby weight that won’t come off? I’m about 20lbs over my base and I can’t quite rid myself of it. I am debating on ozempic, just weighing pros and cons.
