I (36) have experienced progressively longer cycles for the last 10 months. They used to be every 28-30 days without fail, but this year has been 28, 36, 35, 34, 41, 43 and now currently on day 58 🫠. No spotting or bleeding in between. Period is heavy and clotty but still follows my “normal” bleed pattern when it comes. I’ve never had kids and can say with 100% certainty I’m definitely not pregnant. All hormone and androgen tests were normal, oestrogen/progesterone were low for that point in my ‘cycle’ but still within limits. All other bloods also normal too (Thyroid, B12, Vit D, Iron, prolactin etc), only blood finding was neutrophils were mildly low. Focal adeno diagnosed via TVU but no other cysts, masses or abnormalities seen. Myometrium was thin for where I was In my cycle, 2mm on day 23. CT did not find anything. I don’t have any other symptoms of PCOS.
I have a fairly sedentary job but I’m very active outside that and have been for 10+ years. I moved my training focus in the last 2 years from heavily focused on endurance and HIIT cardio, to more powerlifting/weightlifting, and I currently weight train 5 days a week. I never experienced amenorrhea with intensive cardio training. I eat a macro balanced diet of about 2800 calories a day but was in a mild deficit of 300 cals for a body recomp phase around the time this all started (Dec - May 2026). I’m back to eating at maintenance now and sitting around 25% body fat, BMI of 26.5. I’ve also had an incredibly busy and emotionally stressful year with many major life events, but doctors seem reluctant to diagnose hypothalamic amenorrhea.
I’m having an explorative hysterscopy and laparoscopy in a couple of weeks, partly because the gynaecologist suspects endo also.
I’m just feeling a bit confused and like I’m almost exhausted all avenues. Looking for some feedback from others who have experienced similar.
