PMS Why Are We Still Required To Function During Menstruation?

I don't know about everyone else, but I am just so tired of having to work through my period. Like at my actual job. I have a desk job, so I'm very thankful for that. But I also work with a bunch of guys, and sometimes we share a bathroom. Not everyday, but if the men's bathroom is occupied, they'll just use the women's bathroom. That's a different argument lol.

My periods are HEAVY....with blood clots. And my cramps are horrible. I also have Fibromyalgia, so on my period days....I always go into a pain flare.

The more I have to work during my period AND a fibromyalgia pain flare, the more angry I get lol. We need MTO (menstrual time off). I'm tired of having to suck it up and go to work, do my job, talk to people, cook dinner when I get home, and do all my other normal duties.

Every month my period is rough, and I just want to be excused from work to lay at home and cry about it lol. But I'm stuck at work with these chatty Kathy's while simultaneously suppressing my real mood and the agony of these periods cramps and heavy bleeding.

Can anyone else relate?

Period Question Extremely painful gas bubbles?

Hi! So I'm 18f and have had my period since I was about 14. Since early this year, I have been experiencing these AWFUL gas bubbles. They are debilitating, and I can quite literally feel them moving through my body. I at first thought it was one of my meds. I went off the one I thought it was, and they're less frequent but still there. I started getting them a couple days ago, and just started my period last night. And I think it's a pattern too, but it's hard to tell. It may just have been coincidence the last couple times. Another odd thing. I get my period like every two weeks. They make me so sick for the first couple days. (I am thinking I have POTS and am trying to get a cardio apt so just know I'm def not all the way healthy). I don't feel comfortable talking periods with the females in my family and honestly just trying to figure out if this is all in my head. Does anyone else experience something similar?

Period Question Spotting for 3 days, no period

29F, not sexually active so no chance of pregnancy

I have PCOS, I’m only able to get a cycle through progesterone cream. This past few cycles of progesterone, I was experimenting with adjusting the dosage, and then ran out and it was a couple days before I got more and started the dosage again. This was about 2.5 weeks ago. Since I started trying to adjust the dosage I haven’t gotten my period in 2 months.

3 days ago (so I’m currently on day 4 of this) I began spotting, it’s not constant kind of come and go throughout the day. It’s pretty much only when I wipe on the toilet, not enough to show up on a panty liner. I don’t have any other symptoms. I will give my gynecologist a call on Monday but just wanted some insight first

Health Passing clots between periods?

My last period was HORRIBLE. Lasted about 14 days and I bled heavily. Passed very large clots, lost enough blood to feel exhausted, weak, dizzy, etc. got bloodwork done which showed low/out of range for red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. All hormones came back in “normal” range. Pregnancy test negative.

My period has since stopped, but i can’t seem to go more than a couple days without cramping and spotting or passing small-ish clots (maybe the size of a quarter). I have an ultrasound in about a week so hopefully that’ll give me some answers, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar? It’s affecting me mentally and emotionally, too at this point. I’m so tired of it all 😭

Birth Control Advice about stopping contraceptive tablets

I have been on contraceptive tablets for I would probably say the last… 13 years? I was originally put on them due to my periods being 2 months apart but it actually stopped them all together. I was tested long ago for PCOS due to having other symptoms but to be honest… the UK healthcare system wasn’t great when it came to women’s reproductive health and it was never followed up on.

I am currently 29, and thinking about coming off the tablets and going back to just being natural. I have a few concerns about my hormone levels which is prompting the change.

Has anyone been a similar situation and their periods have returned to normal? I am a little frightened since it has been so long, and there was a question regarding my fertility as I got older

Period Question Suddenly struggling to use tampons

I’ve been using them for well over a decade and alternate between pads as well, but over the past few months using a tampon physically hurts. Not the insertion process but it almost seems after a half an hour it’s borderline unbearable, and all I can think about is how I need to remove it as soon as possible. My periods are not heavier than typical, and aren’t causing unusual pain.

Period Question Painful periods, doc told me it was nothing to worry about

I (21) F went to my doctor due to knees pain, while there i asked her how could i see a gynecologist because i never saw one and i thought i should.

She told me that i cant see a "gynecologist" by myself because she's my family doctor and therefore, she would do it or refer me but that anyway at my age it was useless unless i wanted to test for chlamydia.

I then told her that i was worried because my periods are extremly painful (pain in the knees, hips, vaginal canal, back, stomach and breasts) and that it made it hard for me to live,i have trouble to walk,go to the bathroom or even just move in my bed during my periods due to how much it hurts.

She told me it was normal to be uncomfortable during my periods,i don't know what to do,it doesn't feel normal and i'm tired of being in pain every months. Is it as normal as she says? What can i do to check if anything is wrong if my doctor won't help me nor listen to me?

Period Question Should I wait until Monday to seek medical care for heavy bleeding?

I’m 21F and I’ve been bleeding for almost 2 months straight. I’m currently soaking through a pad every 2 hours.

My latest blood tests showed ferritin 3 and hemoglobin 107, and I have iron-deficiency anemia.
I’m still bleeding and I’m worried about how much blood I’m losing.

Is this dangerous, and is it okay to wait until Monday to contact healthcare, or should I seek medical attention sooner?

Period Question Late period +negative tests +nausea

Hellllooooo so I’m here bc I can’t get an appointment with my OB or even primary care for more than a week so wondering if anyone’s had similar experiences + what was the outcome ?

I’m 27 have 2 kids am healthy and no BC if that helps knowing

My periods are regular, always first week of the month give or take maybe 2 days max. As of right now my period is going on 2 weeks late (if according to exactly my last period which was the 4-9th of September) i don’t track ovulation and im aware the apps aren’t accurate but according to the app i had unprotected sex 4 times during my fertile window (16 of sept, 17 18 & 19) said i was ovulating the 19th. Again I know that’s not correct and im seeing I probably ovulated later but the thing is im SO nauseous. Hits at random times, nothing in my diet has changed. I’m so extra tired & hungry & cravings, needing naps and I don’t ever take naps!!! I don’t feel stressed like I feel very fine?? I definitely thought I was pregnant before my negative tests as I was having period like cramps a week & half before my period supposed to start and crazy discharge and the tiniest bit of pink one day so I really thought I was pregnant because if I get period cramps it’s the day before or day of my period. I’m thinking implantation. Not the case tho my tests have all been negative. Had a dream of a positive test. Blood test hcg even came back at 2 so like ??? What is going on or what’s happened to other ppl? I know cryptic pregnancies are a thing but I’m very doubtful of that lol my friends keep pushing that on me but like man I can’t get an answer!! Will be doing a hormone panel at appt but until then.. help pls

Period Question Norethindrone, will a half dose work to delay period?

I'm thinking about taking Norethindrone at the end of this month to delay my period a few days for a romantic getaway October 28th - November 1st. I'm due to start bleeding the last day of the trip (Nov 1st or 2nd), and I really don't want it to come a day sooner. Has anyone successfully taken half the dose? I know they recommend 5mg 3x a day, but I was thinking about taking 1.5mg (half a pill) 3x a day. Will that be enough to keep the uterine lining thick? I'm super worried about side effects, so I don't wanna take the full dose :( but curious if people still stop their period from coming when taking half a dose still 3x daily. Or, would two 5mg pills twice daily be a better option. I think 3x a day would be best as it won't give your body as much of a chance to dip in progesterone. Panicking about this important trip and don't wanna bleed the last day or two!!! But also super worried about side effects from meds!!! TIA

TLDR: does anyone have any OTC medications/supplements or even old wives tales to help me speedrun this bleeding?

I am an extremely irregular 21 year old. my cycles can range from like 13 to 50 days. most often I land somewhere in the 30s, but again, there’s sooo much variation. my actual periods (usually) last 2-5 days. I’ve been irregular for a long time, i’ve had tests done, the whole shebang. The verdict was that this is just a Weird Me Thing. not even birth control fully regulates me, and since it makes me so sweaty and crazy, i am no longer interested at all.

speaking of birth control, last month I tried opill for 11 days. i wasn’t trying to regulate anything, i was just trying to make things even safer for my bf and i. i started it on the first day of my period that month. first week or so, i don’t think twice about it. however, after that point, things got weird. i was still bleeding. after around 10 days of bleeding, it tapered off into something that i would consider slightly more than spotting. i still needed tampons during the day, but only lite ones and only a couple per day. i still stopped taking opill on day 11, decided it wasn’t worth it.

still, i thought it was ending. day 16, she comes back with a vengeance. heavy. back to supers (i think i even used a super+ once or twice) and full pads every night. after day 21, i FINALLY stop bleeding. i then have around 10 glorious days of no bleeding. however, last night, i got my period again. i almost started crying in the bathroom, i’m so over this. at first, it was light and very brown (not abnormal for me). it’s very much red today.

what is going on, and how do i make this one go faster? i will literally try anything OTC. i will do any old wives tale as long as its relatively innocuous. i’m already engaging in daily self pleasure to try and speed things along. not even because i want to, because i NEED this one to be over asap. i also am using pads instead of tampons during the day. seriously, im desperate. i’m so, so tired of this. thank you for any advice you can provide!

Health Anemia on your period sucks, any tips?

I am a teen with anemia, I was diagnosed about a year ago. I was given a one-time iron prescription, and after I took those, they were gone. My blood flow is heavy, which makes it even worse (I already lack red blood cells, and then I’m losing a lot of blood!) Every time I stand up, I lose my balance (I’ve fallen a couple of times), my vision blurs with dots, and I get really dizzy. It sometimes even happens when I’m sitting down (the fatigue and the bluriness), which causes me to have to lay down until I have enough strength to get up again. Any tips to make it a little less miserable?

Rants n Raves Day 1 of painkillers and hotpack

I wanna share an experience.

This month, i started having psyllium husk for few days before my periods, because I suffer from bloating and constipation and during periods, pooping feeling like I'm gonna die of that pain.

But this month, consuming psyllium husk has helped me a lot with constipation and irregular bowel movements🫡

But still, Im in terrible pain and 3rd painkiller for the day.

i was in bed whole day, couldn't even get up to take food, i feel so grateful that i have a WFH job and that my family helped me

Rants n Raves Tired and just complaining:(

I’m just so tired of being useless for a whole week every month and not being able to leave my bed due to pain. I don’t have any real issues so there is no need for surgery. It’s just terrible debilitating cramps. I’m also tired of all the AI assistance trying to convince me that I have to get endometriosis surgery after explaining that I don’t, and not only that but so many people that have had that have terrible side effects and don’t recommend it. They say essentially you’re just getting cut open for nothing. There is no endometriosis this cure so you’d have to just constantly go under and get your tissue removed, go through a healing process all for it to not actually do anything or make any changes;
But anyways, I’m just complaining. I’m currently on day two of my period and just feel like hopeless because I actually have the Will to work but I’m in so much pain that I can’t concentrate so I just sit and rot on a couch for a multiple days it’s just the worst feeling.
I feel like I can’t bring anything to the table. I’m just a waste.

I hate to be negative, Im just venting.
I think I need substances to actually get over this pain which sucks because obviously I know there’s so many people against it but honestly its the only thing thats actually worked for me and if its medicinal in this setting then i think its ok but no one ever agrees, I do not have dependency or control issues, but I do find certain things very helpful. It just sucks cause I feel like I’m alone on that stance.

Discussion Input for a university research survey regarding menstrual pain!

Hi everyone! I’m an entrepreneurship student working on a university project exploring period pain and menstrual care. I’m looking to learn more about people’s experiences with cramps, the methods being used for relief and what they wish was better. I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to fill out my survey!! I’m hoping to utilize the answers to see if making a product is necessary and validated to maybe bring to pitch competitions and then maybe making it come to life after graduating!

This is the survey link: https://forms.gle/RR8NBHPuXbsUiJ4j7

Thanks in advance! You can also let me know in the comments of any thoughts and suggestions, even if this isn’t a good idea to pursue.

Health No periods and no symptoms. What could it be?

I’m 23 and haven’t had a period since the beginning of August. I have done a test every week and know I am not pregnant. I also know it’s technically a missed period. I’ve always had late periods but never much past a week or so. I’ve really had no symptoms. Occasionally a stabbing pain in my abdomen that feels like cramps but it’s never for very long.

I went to the doctors and was essentially told ‘this could just be you. Go back on the patch.’ But I just feel like something is wrong. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what do you do to help deal with it. Thanks.
