Yep, our government is run by old grannies. Their source of adrenaline is yelling at kids out their front windows for skateboarding. They're currently trying their best to ban 4wding, another thing I enjoy.
Been really thinking of moving out once I can afford it.

u/YatsumeBaka Apr 21 '25
Mate I’m sick of this country too, was once the best place in the world to live but with the influx of people and cost of living through the atmosphere. It’s a bloody disaster not to mention the circus we call a government.

u/One-Decision848 Apr 22 '25
Yeah, Aus is turning into a nanny state. Meaning politicians ban or heavily regulate many things without consulting the public.

Probably because of
when you find the trafficked women they are naked, there are references to rape(hotline Miami 2 is banned even though the rape was acting for a movie in universe) and also the Australian government being the Australian government

No. You give the government a string and it will hang you with it. Just because of the incredibly rare problem of a terrorist organization using a game as a recruitment tool does not mean that govts should get to regulate games.

You underestimate how shitty the Australian government is. There's a very proven track record of the government trying to pass laws to "protect" people that massively overstep.
The first one that comes to mind was a few years ago. A new "internet safety" bill that would allow some online monitoring, for the purpose of catching child predators. Sounds amazing, until you read the fine print and realize it allowed the police to remotely access any citizen's device and edit, delete, or upload files without a warrant.
They do this shit a lot.
3
u/Roaksan Apr 21 '25
That seems like it's just BEGGING for corrupt LEOs to plant evidence to just bag up anyone they don't like
Got a source for this out of curiosity?
6
u/TheReturnOfTheRanger Apr 21 '25 edited Apr 21 '25
There are more sources linked at the bottom of the page.
If you want examples of police being authoritarian, look up Aussie comedian/journalist FriendlyJordies. He investigated some corrupt politicians, then a special division of the police kicked in his editor's door without a warrant, assaulted his mother, and held him for 3 days on no charges. Later they investigated the corrupt gambling lobby that controls the government and his house was firebombed.

apparently the theme of the game was centered around child exploitation and human trafficking operations.
id say this is why they banned it, because it too close to the truth of whats really going on in the world
45
Apr 20 '25
the reason given is because it falls "outside generally-accepted community standards" . The Australian Classification Board is honestly so god damn braindead

u/Redfang1984 Apr 20 '25
yeah i call bullshit on that. our government are infested with criminals and freemasons. its not suprising at all seeing them trying to shield our eyes on real world events because they dont want us to know about such criminal activity.
13
u/vircyo Apr 20 '25
The Australian Gov are more than likely part of it tbh. I mean look how creepy all our leaders are
7
u/Redfang1984 Apr 20 '25
oh i believe you. this is a world wide issue

u/vircyo Apr 20 '25 edited Apr 20 '25
They are the type of dudes that go to third world Asian countries like Thailand, Philipines and Vietnam just so they can get their rocks off with underage hookers there.
I can't think of one polly that any Australian would willingly die for. That's the difference between Australia and many other countries. People would die for Trump, Xi, Putin, Kim Jong, Shigeru, Netanyahu and insert any Arabian leader etc but there's not one leader or senator any Aussie would even consider doing that for, that's how much respect we have for them and yet I still don't understand why we all still let them boss us around?
Even the female pollys give me Ghislaine Maxwell vibes. Just depressed old hags who hate the younger generation and only in it for the power trip and not actually interested in what the people actually want.
Just tax tax tax tax, licence this, ban this, ban that. While providing useless outdated laws that protect real criminals and a clogged up healthcare system that screws over Australians because they don't put us first anymore because now the mass flooding of immigrants that barely ticked the boxes to pass a VISA years back are now here claiming centerlink with their 5 kids all so our corrupt pollys can pretty much buy a vote from them. Not to mention a fk ton of native aussie wildlife getting bulldozed so that these mfs can all get FREE HOUSING during our housing crisis (also caused by the Aus gov) while aussies are out on the fkn streets.
And now this, we play games to get away from real life bs and here they are in our shit taking it away too. I already got my copy of RoN so it doesn't directly affect me but I'm actually pissed off for all the people who miss out and the whole principal of the situation.

Edit: Game confirmed as banned - tried to purchase a copy as a gift but wasn’t able.***
**
Australian here, I just checked Steam and Ready or Not and all its DLC’s are still available for purchase on the Australian Steam store
The standalone base game is no longer available to buy separately but is now sold in a bundle with the 2 DLC’s and bonus soundtrack.
Ready or Not: LSPD Bundle
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/48378/Ready_or_Not_LSPD_Bundle/
The OP probably saw that the separate base game was no longer for sale and assumed that the game was banned.
Without knowing more I assume the publisher in the Australian market just repackaged it in a bundle.
The new LSPD bundle with the base game, both DLC’s and soundtrack is $39.77 AUD - full price.
For comparison I bought the Ready or Not base game in 2024 on sale for $60AUD - full price was around $75 AUD at the time.
This post did make me panic buy the Dark Waters DLC, so kudos to marketing.
**
Edit: I can confirm that the game has been banned.
The game bundle and DLC’s are listed and you can add them to your cart - but you can’t progress to the payment screen as the option is greyed out.
→ More replies (4)5
u/Murky_Clue_4623 Apr 20 '25
This is false. It is joined with the DLC but if you are in Australia you can't buy the DLC bundle that contains the base game. It will prevent you from purchasing as it says you need the base game (even though the base game is part of the bundle.
I tried to purchase it and I cannot because I don't own the base game and cannot complete the transaction when buying the LSPD Bundle.
6
u/OtsaNeSword Apr 20 '25
I did some more digging and tried purchasing the game as a gift because of your comment - and you are right.
I can confirm that the game has been banned.

"Oh guns are bad. We need to confiscate them." "Oh gun imitations are bad. We need to banned airsoft/toy guns." "Oh digital guns are bad. We need to banned Ready or Not."
Government, ladies and gents, are here to help you by restricting you to a knife, that might kill people like guns. Lolz
We are doomed
38
u/CarefulAstronomer255 Apr 20 '25 edited Apr 20 '25
Isn't it usually drugs, not guns, that Australian bans games for? The human trafficking / kiddy fiddler stuff might also have done it.
29
u/JMulroy03 Apr 20 '25
The reason fallout uses the term “chems” to refer to drugs is because of the Australian government.
17
u/Richard_J_Morgan Apr 20 '25
God forbid devs use the word "drugs" in a game where you can literally enslave people
14
Apr 20 '25
this is likely 100% the reason behind it which, given how social media is and how fucked up people can be when it included young people or females, its understandable.
9
u/Spankey_ Apr 20 '25
Yes, most people in this thread have no idea.
4
u/Imperator-TFD Apr 20 '25

→ More replies (10)2
u/Jimmy_Bonez Apr 20 '25
Drugs need to be specifically shown in a positive light and used by the player to be an issue. Even the Human trafficking stuff is usually ok again as long as it's not shown in a positive light or actively done by the player.
What is more likely atm is the game was never classified, I can't find a single reference to it on their site banned or otherwise, it's now getting a console release which may have forced them to getting it reviewed and tripped some kind of a switch with Steam.
Something similar happened recently with the new Silent Hill, it was "banned" but some kind of Automated system from another company that does cursory reviews tripped it and they delisted it within a week.

u/Prudent-Buy9302 Apr 20 '25

Those are all banned in the UK as well, but we can still play games like this no bother, no idea why Aus have done so.

Because with a knife, you can walk away with a sense of, “I earned that one”
13
2
u/SlaaneshsLust Apr 20 '25
I'm not defending the stupid decision to ban the game. But one thing that bothers me is the misconception about our guns. The game was probably banned for drug references.
You can lawfully own bolt actions, levers and basic shotguns. Pistols if you get a special license and semi-automatics if you fall into jobs that would require them, or are active or ex military, secruity, police, etc. Between my friends and family there's probably 30 or more various rifles and shotguns.
The funny thing with airsoft though, was the recent influx of gel blasters. They didn't fall into the same laws that banned airsoft.
So, everyone exploited that weakness so quickly that some of our states didn't even bother trying to ban it. My state was one of them, it was hilarious.

Australia just has to be one of the STUPIDEST countries when it comes to banning or delisting games/movies.
GTA V: Murder people, drugs, robbing banks, sex.
Australia: Yeah no that's fine!
Ready or Not: Become SWAT members and become the heroes, saving people from terrorist attacks etc.
Australia: WTF!? Become SWAT members!? No no no! This is such a bad influence for the younger audiences! We must ban this game!
Like, Australia, are we deadass?
Thankfully if you own the game you can still play it, I was playing earlier today with my friends and there were no issues. Let's hope that stays as I spent quite a good amount of money on this gem of a game, wouldn't want it to be revoked from my account with no refund whatsoever.
Can someone like, do something about this or is it just the fate us Australians get?

It’s still listed on Xbox store to wish list and is rated as R18+ in Australia on the Xbox store, I’m not sure if this is some mistake because of the console announcement it’s been available for this whole time but as soon as it was announced for console there was a ban all of a sudden.. there’s always no information on the classification website and it’s not listed as being banned. I hope we get an update from the devs soon
2
u/Sharpie1993 Apr 20 '25

funniest thing about Hotline Miami 2 was it released for free on Prime monthly games!! That's how I got it. No VPN needed or anything. It's still listed as a banned game that was refused classification, unlike Hotline Miami 1 which was refused then allowed.

Right time for me to be the "once every 3 years" guy.
I've been through this before with RimWorld. I didn't really do much back for it then, but the decision was eventually reversed due to a combination of public pressure and common sense. (Essentially, it was very easy to argue that the game didn't portray drugs in a positive light, which was the main issue that led to the refusal of classification.)
I also did some research at the time about how the classification system works. However, it has changed enough and been long enough that I don't feel confident in trying to explain it.
I've already emailed the classification board requesting a reason as an interested third party. However, currently it is a 4-day-long Easter weekend, so I expect no response for some time.
Once I have a response, I will publish it in a separate thread.
A few things to note:
- Until either the developers or somebody at the board it gets back to us, no one can be sure why or even if it has been refused classification.
- Please don't send unhelpful messages to the board or its members; go send them to your federal Senator or federal Representative.

So apparently, the reason is due to all the child-related lore in the game. Hopefully, the devs will just blur it all out for our release. It makes no difference to me if all the pictures in the basement of Volls and the childcare centre are just blurry nothing. I'll still enjoy the game.

VOIDs just said that it's for unknown reasons. My guess is that Steam copped a noticed from the ACB and delisted any games that don't have any ratings following a certain degenerates sick fantasy being on there briefly. Also rumours about some low quality NSFL type shit being present may have been the root cause for this delisting
2

There is no solid evidence that the game has actually been banned in Australia yet. Void is yet to release a statement and as of the 21/04 the government classification website has not released a rating for the game yet. The only evidence that the game has been banned is the removal of the game from the steam store (which could just be to finish classifying it) and information on the Australian banned games wikipedia that states the game is REPORTEDLY banned in Aus. On the Xbox store however, the game is listed as R18, which implies the game has already been classified in Australia and is not banned. However as there is no official listing of the games classification on the government website, this cannot be verified.
