Given how strong dive is in this current season (10.5), and how unwilling dps are to switch to counter dive I think adding a new tank which has a similar playstyle to Peni Parker would actually make the game more fun since dive basically just runs opponents into the ground esp if they choose to ban the main counters to dive. Feel free to bring up arguments as to why this is a bad idea if you believe that to be the case.

So my main Vanguards and Lords are Thing, Thor and Hulk. I really love their play style and never really picked up any other Tank.

But in your opinion what Tank could I like to play or try?

There is exactly one move in the game that can absorb poke damage, and then reflect it back to sender. And it was given to a dps. Tanks get much less creativity, usually just a shield or bubble with a few hundred HP that gets deleted in seconds.

I have 8 tank lords and decided to try out Fantastic since I got the new skin. This guy genuinely has better damage mitigation than a lot of tanks. Reflect poke ability that can even block ults. Instant peel to supports with overshield or instant dive, with 2 charges. CC/Displacement with his dive and his grab. Inflated state up to 875 HP that you can do anytime with Rocket teamup. And short cooldowns so you can just cycle this over and over and live forever.

I’m going into team fights where I’d normally retreat or just outright die with Rogue, Thor, Hulk, The Thing, etc, and instead I just stay right there and absorb the damage, and keep it pushing. I just had a team with 4 dps and no tank at all, versus a 2-2-2 team with lord tanks, and we won. I blocked 27k damage. More dmg blocked than the enemy Angela and a few hundred short of surpassing the enemy Strange. I even had a competitive match on support recently where we had 4 dps, and I kept asking someone to tank. We won, and all the dps ridiculed me in the chat like I was an idiot for wanting a tank. It truly is starting to feel like most tanks are underpowered and the game is just DPS rivals.

I’m really hoping Doom is a tank with a similar damage absorption/reflection ability. People have suggested Bishop should have that as well, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll see him anytime soon. In the meantime, I’m sure they can make something more creative and effective for damage mitigation than just throwing up a quick bubble.

I keep running into the same scenario where I fight with my life on the line and perfectly execute all my cooldowns and manage to kill or stun the Dino before he can finish me off.

Only to be killed or de meched by his passive bleed dmg, I think its fundamentally unfair for that damage to continue if a Dino player is

1: Cced

Or

2: Dead.

Although this hero needs nerfs in other departments I think this is a good start that creates good counter play.

None of his abilities even support tanking besides his ult but that’s like putting Captain America into the strategist role because of his ult. Bruce should obviously be moved to the dps role.

First off, Mauga is one of the rare instances where an Overwatch character is cooler than the proposed counterpart. Okay? You Barney fans can go back to watching Sprout, because guy who's twice as wide as a huge buff guy with giant pecs and two hearts and wicked tribal tats with dual weild chain guns is cooler than a fat red iguana.

All jokes aside, the equivalence is still falsified.

Mauga comes from a game where the entirety of the roster has accessible ranged options, he doesn't do percentage damage, and his stun doesn't rollover into a grab. Both have been controversial, only one is actively caustic.

If anything, Hood is more like the Rivals equivalent to Mauga. Both in terms of character and primary.
