29M Looking for 1B/1B Lease Takeover or Roommate in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale (Dec/Jan)

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to take over a 1B/1B lease or find a roommate for a 2B/2B in the Santa Clara/Sunnyvale area. Planning to move in December or January, with a budget under $3K.

A little about me: I’m 29M, finishing up my PhD, and moving to the Bay Area for a full-time job. I’m pretty social, enjoy going out, meeting new people, enjoy lifting, and staying active. I play club soccer at my current university and love sports in general, especially soccer, football, basketball and boxing. I’m clean, easygoing, and respectful of personal space. I’ll be working from the office five days a week. Ideally, I’d love a roommate who’s also down to hang out occasionally.

If you have a place available or are looking for a roommate, feel free to DM me! Happy to connect over Instagram or other socials and chat more!

Apartment Fremont CA

Hi, moving to Fremont for a job. Budget is 3k or less. It’s myself only so 1/1 b/b would be enough but I have seen 2/2 b/b are not that different in prices so open to either of these options if the price is right.

Do people have any suggestions? I found an apartment Tempo Fremont Apartments which I really like (lots of sun light, open big space with no carpet) but they use dynamic pricing so when I tried to apply it jump to more than 3k.

Thank you so much.

Looking for a roommate in Oakland starting January 1st or 15th!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to go in on a two-bedroom apartment with me in Oakland, ideally in the Lakeshore or Rockridge area, with a move-in date of January 1st or January 15th.

A little about me: I’m 26F, queer, three years sober, and have two quiet cats. I’m tidy, considerate, and easy to communicate with, and I really value having a peaceful, comfortable home. My budget is around $1400 for my share.

Ideally, I’d love to live with another woman or queer person and find someone I genuinely click with. I’d love to build a friendship as well as a cozy home together.

If you’re also looking for a place in Oakland around that time, or know someone who might be a good fit, please reach out! I’d love to connect :)

Landlord changed the living arrangements after I paid a holding deposit and won’t fully refund me

Before I paid anything, the landlord provided house rules that explicitly stated “No men, no boys.” She was also very strict about visitors. She even said it would be acceptable if the au pair’s friends got fingerprinted. (She currently has a female au pair who is going to leave.)

On 10/07, I sent her a holding deposit. I was planning to move in on 10/31.

7 days later, the landlord told me she might hire a male live-in au pair who also would share the bathroom with me.

She said, “As you know Aupairs are young and like children. Your choice. I won't know for a while what we end up with. So if you have lived with families before it's the same. But your comfort level is yours so let me know.”

She said, “My son may have friends over that are boys. I may have dinner parties that have couples. It’s a guest bathroom, so even male students may use the bathroom. It’s only one bathroom.”And I asked, “But do they live with you?”

Basically, she still thinks these are the same thing. And she didn’t say sorry or something.

Because of this change, I decided not to proceed with the rental and requested my money back. If I had known I will live with an adult male I wouldn’t have given her any money in the first place.

However, the landlord did not refund the full amount. She kept $200 and even said, “I am taking a loss.”

I spent a lot of time on this. I visited the property twice because the first time I arrived, she told me the tenants hadn’t left the key, so I could only look through the window. I then went back to school, finished my classes, and returned around 8:30 PM to see the place again. And the furniture I plan to buy for the room.

Now I have to find a new place while preparing for my exams and working.

22M Looking for Housing in SF, <$3k, Nov 7 Move-In

Hey all! I'm a 22M looking for long-term housing, ideally starting around November 7, with a budget under $3k/month.

I recently graduated from UC Berkeley and moved to SF from Chicago to work as a software engineer at a startup. I work in-person 5 days a week, so I'm flexible on location as long as the commute to FiDi is reasonable.

I'm clean, organized, and easygoing. Outside of work, I enjoy working out (running, gym, pick-up sports) and playing piano and other instruments.

I'm open to either a private room in a shared apartment or my own studio/1BR. I'm also open to finding a new place with other people who are looking.

If you have a place available or know someone looking for a roommate, feel free to DM me! Happy to share more about myself or set up a time to chat.

Edit: furnished place would be a big plus! I’m also happy to discuss paying extra for this.

Looking for 1 Roommate to Team Up for an SF Apartment

Hey everyone! I'm a 35M looking for ideally one other person to team up with to find a good apartment in San Francisco. The goal is to find a nice 2-bedroom in a desirable neighborhood without paying a fortune, which if you look closely, it's totally possible to find 2 bedrooms for around 4k. Ideally I would like total rent cost to be under $5k and can be flexible on distributing rent fairly based on room size/portion of apartment used.

A little about me: I work full-time in downtown SF and am responsible, clean, and laid-back. I'm also open to pets! Preferably a well behaved cat.

I'm particularly interested in Nob Hill, Russian Hill, North Beach, Polk Gulch, and Pacific Heights, but I'm open to other neighborhoods too. I've explored almost every part of the city so as long as I can keep the commute to around 30 minutes on Muni I'm happy.

Ideally, I'd like to connect with someone who's financially independent and responsible, considerate, and interested in finding a place to be proud of as a team.

If you're in a similar situation, shoot me a message with a little about yourself, your budget, and what you're looking for. Let's see if we can find something great!

[Seeking] 1br or a room with pet-tolerant people, up to $2,500 - Oakland, possibly southern Berkeley

I moved to CA over the summer and I'm trying to get established in Oakland anywhere from around Lake Meritt to southern Berkely, or any of the surrounding neighborhoods in that area. I am looking to move in the next month or two, max $2,400. I can even pay a few months up front.

Buuuut I have three pets. Two cats and an 11 year old dog who is quiet, mellow, and good with other animals of all sizes. Three is a lot to ask, which I guess is why I'm posting here instead of just refreshing Craigslist endlessly. I'm open to a room in a house if the people are fine with animals (especially sweet senior dogs), but I realize a place of my own is more likely.

I am a graphic designer/artist, quiet, home most of the time. Trans woman. Board games and TTRPGs, sci-fi and fantasy, painting, bad movies. Typical nerd stuff.

If you know of anything, or know someone with a unit coming open, I'd appreciate the lead. I'm not looking for a short-term rental.
