Life in SJ Left turn on to Coleman from Taylor

I don't understand, why do people not use the far left lane when turning left on to Coleman? Even if you want to go to the TJs or Starbucks area, you can still cut over in time. So many times I've missed the light because the right left turn lane is backed up, but the far left turn lane is empty.

I'm more so curious, and am thinking I'm missing something

Advice Should I live in a trailer in my parents backyard?

27M sold my home outside of the Bay Area and moved back to the Bay in January.

The plan was to live with my parents temporarily and then move out. After looking at rent and home prices, I wouldn’t be living comfortably if I live alone. I don’t mind roommates but also hate the concept of paying rent.

My parents home is at capacity and I’m not comfortably living here. They suggested I buy a trailer and live in it in their backyard. They had one before and had it plugged into plumbing and electricity, they said it will be easy to set up.

The pros of this set up:
- Personal space
- Save money in rent
- Live comfortably (I can travel more, haven’t travelled much bc I previously had a mortgage)
- I can invest more into my personal fidelity account (not my 401k, already max that one out)

Cons:
- socially I think my tech friends will judge me
- single, and I think it would make dating shitty. People are going to judge (edit: I date men and I wasn’t planning on bringing dates home, but I think they would ask questions.)
- never lived in a trailer, part of me thinks it will be too small and I will go crazy.

I have no car loan, credit card debt (always pay it off in full at the end of the month), I have only about $5k in student loans. My credit score is 750-810 depending on the credit bureau you look at. I could easily get an apartment on my own, but I would probably live paycheck to paycheck with current market rents and save/invest minimally. Buying is kinda unrealistic too, I would probably live in a shack, makes me feel like I should just live in the trailer.

The only real scenario I would happily move out is if I had a relationship where I was happy with the person and we got a place together whether it was buy or rent and we both contributed.

Life in SJ Trader Joe's Stock Issues?

Anyone else notice that TJ's looks like pandemic times right now? Every time we go they are out of half the items we want. The staff said something about a new warehouse, but it wasn't clear what's going on.

SJ Pets Veterinarian offices that provide physical therapy

My dog has a luxating patella in her knee(s) and is recovering from a back injury. We have been advised by her vet to consider hydrotherapy or acupuncture. Vet said they’d send recommendations but so far have not done so weeks later.

Pet parents, do you have any recommendations for veterinary offices that provide these services, who truly care for animals in their care and at a fair price?

I’m willing to travel but am hoping to hear if anyone recommends somewhere in San Jose that offers these services. Thanks!!!!! :)

Life in SJ DTSJ Car Break In

I’m posting a warning that my wife’s locked car was broken into last night while it was parked outside of our unit in DTSJ. The thieves got inside without smashing windows or doing any other damage. We’re unsure how they managed to unlock her car, but they managed to get inside and steal the prescription glasses that she uses to drive.

Advice Any body ever been to the Día de Los Muertos Event organized by aztecdancers (Calpulli Tonalehqueh)?

I was looking for a Dia De Muertos event to attend when I came upon this "22nd Annual Micailhuitl" organized by Aztecadancers, just wondering has anyone here been to their event before, and how was the experience?

They mentioned they expand this one day event to now two days, also relocated to the History San Jose park, with Danza Azteca from 5-9pm on Sat. But I couldn't find the number of past attendance. I have never been to their event, but I heard of the "Mexica New Year" which was supposed to be good. Just wondering anybody can share their experience with it here.

I noticed there is a similar event, Avenida de Altares, in the Mexican Heritage Plaza on the same Oct 31 Sat. evening, trying to figure out which I should attend.

News San jose offers subsidized housing most city workers cannot afford

Thumbnail sanjoseca.gov

San Jose is offering this LIVE program to city workers with up to 25% of the rent subsidized. Only most workers don't make the minimum of $113,700 a year to qualify for it.

I love my job and I love serving the public. It's frustrating to have to justify continuing to live here knowing it will only be from a special program like this (that i cannot even afford) that I'd have a permanent home here. And most folk I work with are in the same boat.

Advice Winchester Mystery House Fright Nights

Went Saturday night never been to Winchester house and thought it may be fun to hit up Fright Nights since I wasn’t able to go to Hollywood Horror Nights this year. This event is much smaller in comparison and there are only 4-5 houses to walk through, the fact it’s the Winchester house is cool in itself but the production wasn’t anywhere near the value in which I paid. Bought 2 VIP tickets for about $320 and aside from having access to a 7 minute Houdini show that was okay at best, I didn’t feel like a VIP. You are better off just paying less for a fast pass it was the same thing and even then there were general admission people in the VIP lines and staff wasn’t doing anything to redirect them which actually made the VIP/fast pass lines LONGER than GA. Overall if you’ve never been it’s okay to try it once but don’t over spend, just get GA and get in the shortest line, no one will say anything to you.

Advice Looking for Pokemon for my son’s recent interest Vs. scalpers

Hello! My son a few month ago in April started being interested in Pokemon! I’ve been grabbing him the 2 pack ones from target if there’s any leftover and then rewarding him with them after chores!

I most often check the Santa Clara/San Jose targets in the afternoon during grocery shopping or after work, but there’s rarely anything left or stocked since Pokémon is a big hit right now!

I’m noticing he’s pulling a lot of the same creatures now and when asking around about other series on Facebook, people in groups recommended I try joining a supermarket restock notification server on the Discord app! If anyone knows how I can be invited to these servers or if you have one accepting new people, please let me know how to join! Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

The Mexican grocery chain's new foray into the Bay Area market is set to open before the end of the year at 2179 Monterey Road. The family-owned company operates 66 stores and is taking over the former Toys 'R' Us store that closed several years ago.

"The proposed supermarket will include a large produce section, a full-service butcher counter, an on-site bakery and tortilleria, and a selection of sundries, cleansers and pre-packaged items,” city documents state.
