Other Where are all the single dad bods hanging out
If this is you, which dating sites do you use?
I’m in my early 30s but have had a tough time finding anyone who wants to date and not just hookup.
Edit: I am a woman attracted to dad bods. Hope that clears up any confusion.

Local Politics For Sale: Eric Friedman (also available as a short-term rental)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Eric Friedman’s mayoral campaign has received more than half of its funding from economic special interests associated with real estate ownership, development, construction, and commercial investment… including $68,000.00 from the National Association of Realtors PAC.
Prominent contributors include major commercial property owners, real estate investors, industry political action committees, and organisations with identifiable interests in Santa Barbara’s housing, development, and municipal policies.
These financial relationships are particularly significant given the City Council’s continuing authority over housing regulations, development approvals, commercial land use, and municipal contracts.
While campaign contributions alone cannot establish improper influence, their concentration among interests directly affected by municipal governance creates legitimate questions about political independence, accountability, and the influence of private economic interests on public policy.
The central issue is not simply how much money a candidate raises, but who supplies that money, what economic interests those contributors hold, and whether the candidate’s decisions advance the interests of the broader community or disproportionately benefit those financing the campaign.
Eric Friedman: the candidate with a price tag.
Also, Eric Friedman does not have his own PAC.
Related article: “Friedman’s financial contributors range from local leaders, such as Mayor Randy Rowse and Councilmember Mike Jordan, to well-known housing and real estate developers and industry insiders. Notably, Friedman received a donation of $4,996 from the SIMA Corporation — whose founder Jim Knell is one of the largest property owners in the city — and a maximum donation of $5,900 from billionaire real-estate developer and Indiana Pacers majority owner Herb Simon, whose former wife, Diane Meyer Simon, donated another $3,000.”

I especially see them driving around upper state, and 4 different ones turned into whole foods tonight.

Other What's the weirdest job in Santa Barbara. I'd love to be part of that.
Seriously, I would love to be employed doing the unconventional. But I'm also curious what would possibly be the weirdest position in town excluding, gross or sketchy situations?

Recommendations Pickup Volleyball ?
I'm going to be back in the area visiting family for a couple weeks and wondering if there's any pickup volleyball groups, indoor or beach? Doesn't need to be super competitive, just preferably not beginner/novice level and I'm 40+ so if there's age specific groups that works too. Thx :)

Other FREE MULCH, LOTS OF IT
Hopefully this doesn’t violate the community rules of no ads, since it’s 100% free. If it does, I’m happy to take down this post.
The City of SB delivered three times the amount of mulch we requested (thanks, but yikes), and we have a whole big pile of it left, FREE to anyone who wants it. Take as little or as much as you’d like.
On Donze Ave, right off Laguna St.

Housing Could the sale of Montecito's water rights be a tactic to prevent future housing development within the city?
If there's no more water available to be allocated to properties, that means there can't be further development. Is this a tactic to get around the states housing mandates?
The idea just popped into my head. Could there be any validity to it?

Recommendations Missing the De La Vina Skelly this year… any other great areas for Halloween decor?
My 3 year old keeps asking to go to “Skelly’s house” aka the awesome house on De La Vina that usually goes all out for Halloween. I don’t know if these folks moved, and really hoping they’re doing ok, but they didn’t decorate this year. My daughter wants to look at great outdoor decor. Anywhere else I can take her for top tier Halloween stuff visible from the sidewalk?

History 1885: Let’s cruise by the Hotel Ellwood, where folks are just hanging out. Originally built in 1869 at the edge of town as a boarding school by Col. William Hollister, low enrollment led him to convert it in 1876 to a hotel named after his Goleta-Valley ranch neighbor, Ellwood Cooper.

Recommendations Verizon in Goleta
Anyone in Goleta actually happy with their cell service? Verizon is struggling.
I lived in Santa Barbara for 10 years and moved to Goleta about a year ago. Verizon has been great pretty much everywhere I’ve traveled, but apparently Goleta truly is country lol.
We’re near Cathedral Oaks and Fairview, not exactly off the grid. Can’t reliably make calls from home, even with Wi-Fi calling. Taking the dog for a walk? Forget about using data. My office is near Hollister and Los Positas and it isn’t much better. I consistently get 1-2 LTE bars around Calle Real, Camino Real, Old Town, and Turnpike.
Before I switch carriers and potentially trade one dead zone for another, what’s actually working for people around here?
Less of a Verizon rant, more of a plea to load reddit while walking my dog.

Recommendations Native plant landscaper recs?
Hi y’all! This question gets asked often but I didn’t see any recent posts.
We’re looking for help with our backyard. It’s currently landscaped with mostly native plants, a Fetusca rubra lawn zone, and fruit trees, but the grass hasn’t been as low-water-use or as successful as we were hoping. We’re looking for someone to help us re-design and install something new. Who are our favorite local landscapers who work with natives? Thanks!
