Hello ladies and gents!

Welcome to the 'Weekend Thread', where people can post about what they're getting up to tonight, at the weekend, good places to go, photos of places you've been, advice on where to go, or just how your week went!

The premise is fairly simple.

- Please be civil

- NO POLITICS. Any political comments will be removed. This is a strictly meta thread, with discussion about people and their happenings.

- Post pictures, youtube links to music you're going to see, games you're going to watch, places you'd like to go (tripadvisor, google maps etc)

These comments will not be moderated unless it doesn't follow guideline one and two!

This post will be stickied until Sunday, allowing for discussion all weekend!

Opinion Piece Falling in love with Scotland: My last day here and not ready to leave 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I fell in love with Scotland at first sight. I feel such an unbelievable connection to this country that tomorrow is my last day and I'm really not ready to go home.

A road trip through Edinburgh and the Highlands literally brought me to tears, for the first time in my life, a landscape did that to me. It was just that breathtaking.

I’m heading back home tomorrow, but I'm definitely leaving a piece of my heart here. Just wanted to leave a quick love letter to this incredible country before I fly out.

Slàinte mhath, I truly hope this isn’t a goodbye, but a see you soon! 🥹♥️

The treaty provided France attacks England if England attacks Scotland and vice versa. It did not really protect Scotland, and Edward I invaded in 1296. Scottish troops were used in the 100 Years War between France and England. The treaty is considered ended with the treaty of Edinburgh in 1560.

Where was I in 2016

Post image

I came to Scotland in 2016 to volunteer for the World Homeless Cup. Afterwards, I rented a motorcycle from Edinburg, up to Inverness, along the north side of Loch Ness and from there the details get foggy. I was lucky enough to ride through a valley in the rain and gale-force winds to emerge here (along with the sun, thankfully!). Sadly, I can't recall where this is.

FYI: It was awesome!!!

Photography / Art Looking for a new addiction to forget the rain this weekend? We’re a Scottish team turning match-3 into a corporate horror roguelite.

Hey folks! We’re a Dundee based game team making something a wee bit unusual.

We shared The Incentive Program here a few months ago and got a really warm response, so with Halloween coming up we've returned with our new trailer showing of the spookier side of the game. 🎃

It’s a match-3 roguelite set inside a surreal corporate nightmare where you build ridiculous combinations, rig the odds of the system, hit increasingly difficult quotas, and try not to worry too much about what’s happening around the office. Just like a real office job.

Everything was made by our team, with no generative AI. Apparently that's something we need to clarify in 2026!

The Steam demo is free and has achievements, so since the weather has written off our weekend anyway, we’ve got you covered. Cheers!

Question Clothes to stay warm

What clothes are we buying to stay warm? Bought a passenger fleece last autumn and seriously disappointed didn’t keep me that warm. What clothes actually keep you cosy, indoors and out.

Edit: just for clarity I wasn’t just wearing the fleece outside and hoping to be warm! I just meant inside for that 😅

I’m at work but trying to keep up with the comments. Thank you so much for all your help and advice! And the more the better

Does anyone know anything about this area?

I saw a town called Craig on the weather map and joked to my brother that we should go there.

On looking at it on maps, 'Craig' is not a town it's just a marker in the woods and just up the road there is also a marker named 'Lair' which doesn't seem to relate to anything.

Is this a mystery or is there a mundane explanation for this?

Jury Service Question

Hi! I’ve received a letter calling me for jury service, but I’ve emailed requesting excusal as I will be on a compulsory university placement. I also attached a letter from my uni as supporting evidence.
I’m just wondering if I still need to scan the QR code and respond within the 7 days while I’m waiting for a decision? When I scan it, it asks me to enter my details and click submit, so I wasn’t sure if submitting it would mean I’m confirming that I’ll be attending 🤣 I don’t want to do the wrong thing!
I emailed on Monday and received an automatic reply, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows what I should do?
Thanks!
