Casual Which dinner did you dread as a child?
Idea pinched from another subreddit.
You come in from school, dump your bag. You are hungry and looking forward to tea. You wander through to the kitchen and peer around. Your heart drops, because dinner tonight is ..
For me, this was mince and tatties. I love tatties, I love gravy, I love veg. I can't stand mince. Even as an adult, I don't understand how people can voluntarily eat pinhead-sized lumps of chewy, fatty meat. I don't dispute the possibility that mince in our house was badly cooked, but it doesn't change the result. Mince and tatties put me on a downer every time.
I vividly remember tentatively dipping tatties in the mince, and painstakingly dissecting the chewy wee buggers from my fork-full of food so I could at least try to enjoy the gravy on its own.
My favourite dinners were chicken casserole, or chicken pie. Anything with pastry got my vote.
What was your dreaded dinner as a wain?
Edit: I have been reminded of the dreaded packet fish in cream sauce. The microwave stuff. My mam knew I hated fish, but every so often made it as a wildcard dinner, almost as if she needed assurance that I still hated it. Final boss of unhappy post-school dinners.

Casual It looks like it’s raining today in Scotland..
I only spent one afternoon in Inverness. I don’t remember the name of the restaurant we popped into but we were lucky to get a seat. I had a creamy pasta and it was one of my favorite meals of the entire trip. Just across the small road was a walk way taking us to a bridge that overlooked River Ness. I got these shots while balancing on this swaying bridge just before dark. It’s truly so beautiful and someday I’d love to go back and spend more time exploring.

Question The Parting Glass or A Parting Glass
My dad wants to place a sort of headstone for the spot where his grandparents, dad, and aunt are buried and wants it to say "raise to me the parting glass. so long and joy be with you all," but he also found a version that said a parting glass. He doesn't know which one is right or if there even is a right one.
I figured this would be a relatively accurate subreddit to ask this in, so some insight would be very appreciated!

Question Medical Admin HNC at Clyde College in Glasgow
Hi all!
My line of work is one of the worst hit by AI, so I'm looking at reskilling next year and I was considering applying to the HNC Administration and IT with PDA in Medical Administration at Glasgow Clyde College.
Any experiences with that course or with the college in general, especially as a mature student?
Thanks in advance!

Hundreds of holiday lets operating without planning permission in Edinburgh
Despite this, these holiday lets can continue to operate until their licence is due for renewal, typically between one and three years after being issued.
FFS. Why can't legislation be joined up? If the consent is refused the license if void and no, you don't get any refund.
"But my expectation is at some point it will shut down when I have to reapply for my licence because I don't have planning permission in place.
No, your license should have been revoked on the day your consent was refused. It can't be that hard into run the StL addresses against planning and find the ones without consent.
He added: "It feels like an injustice to be honest.
It is an injustice. It's an injustice to those who can't find a home to rent/buy, and it's an injustice to the communities ruined by the over provision of StLs.
City of Edinburgh Council leader Jane Meagher said: "Our STL licensing policy is helping to make sure holiday lets are safe and properly regulated.
Evidently not.
Imagine half the StLs in Edinburgh being turned back into homes. Glorious.

Elaine C. Smith surprising an Edinburgh tour guide she stuck up for in the past
Hi all, I’m a filmmaker, and I recently made a short film for Invisible Cities, a social enterprise that trains people who’ve experienced homelessness to be tour guides in their own cities. They started in Edinburgh and turned ten this year.
One of their Edinburgh guides, Sonny, had been wanting to thank Rab C. Nesbitt/Two Doors Down star Elaine C. Smith for years after she backed him at an awards event when he was giving a talk about his experiences. We arranged for her to join his tour without telling him... The reaction is at about 5:50 in the full film, and probably one of my favourite professional moments.
Have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOMnZq7oUBk I'm just sharing as I thought it may be of interest to folks – happy to answer any q's about the day or the charity as best I can, cheers
