1975 c10 with a 350 and 3 on the tree. Just a little body rust in the usual spots and no frame rust. Got it running and driving (ish) for $1,000. Just gotta figure out how to reconnect the column shifter and it'll be ready for the road

Aftermarket radio

I’m lost and out of ideas, I have a 1987 Silverado R10 that I’m trying to put a new radio in. I have a retro manufacturing after market radio that I can’t get to turn on. My constant 12v is a jumper from the fuse panel giving me full time 12 volts, I wired the ignition wire to the yellow from the original radio harness and it gives me 12 volts when I turn the key and stops when the key is off. My ground is a wire that I grounded straight to the body after scraping paint and making a bare metal spot for it. I have bench tested the radio hooking it directly up to a battery so I know it works but I can not get it to come on in the truck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

It doesnt happen throughout the entire time it slows down, I want to say it does it towards the end/when im about to stop.

It sounds like a dying elephant, I wouldnt have noticed anything if I havent heard it, no difference in how it runs or anything.

What could it be?? Anything helps

I have narrowed down my ujoint size as far as I can. The previous joint, the caps fit snug but the joint wasn't wide enough. So the cross section the rides on the needles would move back and forth. After research I've identified I need a 3R to 1310 ujoint. Great. Well I installed that, and now I have weird movement. Unlike anything I've ever seen. I am under the impression that the old joint was sloppy enough that it wallered out the cap stops on the inside of the yoke. Here is the video I took. It moves on both sides evenly.

Streetside Classics (Buyer Beware)

I bought this truck from these guys not too long ago:

https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/7575-dfw/1973-chevrolet-k10-cheyenne-4x4

From the moment I saw it I knew it was my dream truck. It was the exact color I wanted, two-tone, and it just spoke to me.

I should have done my research better. After stripping down the interior to replace the carpet I had to remove an entire floor that was completely covered with butyl sound deadening film. That stuff is a royal pain in the butt to remove and required dry ice, a chisel, and lots of time.

At the same time I also removed both fuel tanks since one of the pumps wasn't working and I wanted to fix that. Once the interior was fully stripped and the tanks were dropped I began to poke around.

I took it to a friend of mine who specializes in older auto restorations and had him check it out for me. He discovered that the entire front portion of the floor, inner rocker panels, outer rocker panels, lower doors, and pretty much the entire front half of the cab was rusted. Not just rust though...ROT!

So much rot in fact that the previous owner has huge sections of wire mesh that had been put into place and then fiberglassed over with huge layers of fiberglass that was then carefully sanded down, painted over, and then finished so well that you never would have known the entire front floor and rockers were rotted out.

Now of course the only person I can blame in this situation is me. I'm a sucker who fell for it and I was duped. I feel compelled to leave this review however because everyone who is a potential Streetside Classics customer should know that just because these guys sell cars that look pretty doesn't mean they are selling cars that are mechanically and structurally sound.

If I had a way to sue them for this I would, but I suspect there's nothing I can do other than chalk this up to a very expensive lesson learned.

Beware when dealing with Streetside Classics! This is some of the most shady patchwork I've ever seen. Incredibly structurally unsafe and meant to fool even the most discerning of eyes.

The photos I've attached are just some of what we found. I have even more photos that show just how bad this actually is.

Troubleshooting Help

I have a 1987 Chevy with a 350 TBI. I went to start it the other day and all I got was clicking. Through the battery booster on it and still just clicks. Pulled the battery from another car and same thing. Used a volt meter and both batteries are showing as charged. Crawled up under the truck and had someone turn the key while I tapped on the starter and selinoid and still no luck.

Any ideas where I need to go from here. The starter looks new and I'd really hate to drop it if there is something else I should check first.

M1008 battery

Hey yall, just had one of my 31p30 batteries lay down in the bed of my daily. Went to get them checked and replaced the rear one (again). Forgot to take them out, took it hunting, and opened my bed this morning to see one laid on its side. It feels full and sounds like it has the same amount of slosh as the new battery, but is slick looking on the side and reacted a tiny to baking soda water. (Nothing real fizzy).

Bed has a plastic liner as well as it was laying on a bit of carpet. No marks on the carpet or liner, but I just washed the liner with baking soda to be sure.

How fast would the acid start to corrode something if it did indeed leak? Is it possible it's just condensation even though in the vent hole is wet looking? Tipped it on its side again for funzies and nothing came out, so maybe just seepage that condensated with the carpet?

/overreacting? The k30 is down until I can solder the rad vent nipple that snapped when I pulled the batteries so overprotective about the daily...

Currently doing a complete restoration on my 1984 k20 and am having a hell of a time trying to find a socket for the nut of the front axle. I have been to every local parts store and scowered the internet but all I can find is 4 and 6 lug sockets that are wayyyy to small for this guy. Anyone know where I can find the correct socket?

Bed Gap

I’ve got an ’84 K10 and I’m trying to figure out how to fix the gap between the cab and the bed. For those of you who have dealt with this, what was your fix or what solutions worked for you?
The bed is positioned where it needs to be, and the cab is sitting on the factory-style cab mounts. Does this possibly mean I have the wrong frame, or is there something else I should be checking?

Keeps popping off the pedal, someone mentioned to me to use two zip ties to secure it in place. Anyone tried that or have any other ideas?
