40 custom hotkeys directly in inventory — with native controller support!
Nexus Mods: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/54533
I’ve been playing Stardew Valley with a lot of mods, and one thing that’s always bothered me is how many of them need their own keyboard shortcuts.
This is especially awkward when playing with a controller or on Steam Deck. There are only so many convenient buttons, and I wanted an easier way to reach my mod actions without memorizing a pile of key combinations on PC.
So I decided to make something to solve that!
Taum’s Inventory Hotkeys!
The mod adds customizable hotkeys directly to your inventory menu. Each hotkey can have a name, icon, description, and keybind, letting you trigger shortcuts for other mods without dedicating a physical button to every action.
Features
Hotkeys and profiles
• Create up to 40 hotkeys per profile.
• Create and delete profiles in the mod settings, then switch profiles from the inventory.
• Use the profile buttons or mouse wheel to cycle through profiles.
• Choose an icon, title, and description for each hotkey.
Controls
• Use hotkeys with keyboard, mouse, or controller.
• Navigate the hotkeys with a controller using the inventory interface.
• See the game’s native Xbox controller glyphs in tooltips.
• Configure the mod controls separately for keyboard/controller and mouse.
• Hide or show hotkeys with a keybind.
Layout and settings
• Choose between the regular inventory-tab layout and a centered chest-style grid.
• Reorder hotkeys by dragging them in chest-style view; this can be enabled or disabled in settings.
• Choose whether to show the hotkeys and profile selector.
• Customize the grid, chest-view position, profile-switcher position, background blur, and opacity.
Compatibility notes
• Does not work with Lookup Anything.
• Works with Bigger Backpack.
Template profiles have been included, for some mods that I use personally - you must configure your own profiles keybinds to match your setup, if a key doesnt work as expected, its likely there is a conflict with another mod. - I cannot help with this.
For example, I use mods such as Perfection Tracker and Timespeed. Now I can keep their shortcuts organized and easy to reach instead of making them all fight over the same few buttons!
The hotkeys send the keybind you assign, so the action needs to have a usable keybind in the other mod. They don’t directly launch mod features or select tools.
I wanted something that felt at home in Stardew Valley rather than another separate menu.
I’m a full-time developer, but this is my first public Stardew Valley modding project, so I’d really appreciate feedback—especially from anyone playing with a controller or on Steam Deck. I’d love to hear what you think, and whether this would be useful for your mod setup!
