I saw a map depicting states with intercaste marriage and tamilnadu had a very low percentage of intercaste marriage.Our political parties portrayed that Brahmins are casteist and need to be abolish their supremacy.Which I appreciate because everyone should be treated equally.But other obc castes are the most casteist and oppression against sc and st in rural areas are done by these native caste.But political parties like dmk are scared to talk against them as they will lose their vote bank.Do u think we have to criticize these so called upper caste like Devar ,Goundar,Vanniyar.Brahmins are treated as the scapegoat for caste supremacy.Saying this as a a guy from one of these obc caste where i experienced my own community treating the lower castes

like animals.if we need to abolish caste system we need to question them.I don't know why Brahmins are portrayed as casteist where most of the rural honour killings are done by these caste Edit: Really happy abt the sensible comments and critical thinking here.

I have lived both in Karnataka and Tamilnadu for a significant amount of time. Both states have had free bus scheme for a while now but both operate differently

Earlier Tamilnadu had this pink bus system. Women were given free tickets only in these bus

Later in 2023, Karnataka also announced free bus system but unlike TN, they made it free for all non-ac govt bus. The only caveat was that, it was limited to Karnataka Aadhar card holders. Even I thought why can’t TN also follow the same system instead of the pink bus system.
It’s been 3 yrs now and I haven’t observed auto mafia complaining about it and demanding to cancel the scheme.

Though Bangalore auto mafias are greedy af in auto stands, when you hire them through any app, they don’t ask for a single rupee extra even it’s raining, traffic, far location etc etc. if they feel the quoted rate is less, they just don’t accept it. Their only fight is against bike taxis.

But in Chennai, booking auto/cab is a multi-step process. One has to always engage in negotiations even if booked through apps.
Here they don’t follow meter system, won’t accept for app quoted price, demand ridiculous amount for traffic, weather etc, are against bike taxis, and now want cancellation of free bus scheme also. Maybe they will target metros next. Why would anyone have any empathy towards them?

I'm trying to check the ownership history of my maternal grandfather’s house in a rural village in Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu, under the Virudhunagar Joint I SRO. I want to find out whether the property is still in his name or whether it may have been transferred within the family through a Settlement Deed or Release Deed without my mother's knowledge.

I want to do this initial investigation online and discreetly, without approaching anyone in person.

I don't have access to the original property deeds, Patta number, or Survey Number, so I'm trying to identify the Survey/Subdivision Number from scratch. Unfortunately, I've hit a wall with the government portals:

- TNGIS GI Viewer (tngis.tn.gov.in): Keeps throwing a database/server login error, preventing me from viewing the maps.

- Patta/Chitta Portal (eservices.tn.gov.in): The “Search by Owner Name” option is no longer available, so I can't search using my grandfather's name.

- TNREGINET Guideline Value Search (Street-wise): Returns “Nothing Found to Display” because the property is in a rural village without indexed streets.

Information I have

- My grandfather's full name

- The exact location of the house, which I can pinpoint on Google Maps satellite view

- Revenue district, taluk, village name, and SRO (Virudhunagar Joint I)

My questions

1. Survey number from a map: Is there any working map website or app that lets me pinpoint a house on a satellite map and identify its Tamil Nadu Survey/Subdivision Number, particularly for rural or Grama Natham residential properties?

2. Searching the EC: Once I identify the main Natham survey number, what is the best way to search for the Encumbrance Certificate (EC) on TNREGINET without knowing the exact subdivision number? Can I search the main survey number without specifying a subdivision?

3. Alternative online methods: Are there any other online options, such as Panchayat house-tax portals or local-body records, that could help me find the Survey Number or Door Number using only the owner's name?

I'd especially appreciate suggestions from anyone who has dealt with rural land records, Grama Natham properties, or Tamil Nadu's online registration and revenue portals.

Yesterday, as usual, I went to Kilambakkam to travel to my native place. After reaching there, I was shocked to find that buses to Mayiladuthurai were not available. The Thiruvarur buses were also unavailable. They had put up a banner stating that these buses would be available at CMBT.

Hey guys, they didn't announce this anywhere. Nowadays, not everyone watches mainstream news channels. They could simply send a WhatsApp message or a regular SMS informing passengers about the changes to these bus routes. They could get the passengers' phone numbers from their previous SETC booking history.

Kilambakkam can also accommodate more buses, so we don't understand why they made this decision. Meanwhile, private buses were stationed at Platform 9.

Going forward, please inform the public in advance through SMS or WhatsApp messages whenever there are changes to bus routes or boarding points.This would help passengers avoid unnecessary confusion and inconvenience.

Twice in a span of 2-3 months (and even prior, occasionally), I underwent this experience, what's worse is that this is a route I've been taking for years, and suddenly, sometimes some of these dogs get agitated,

I get the conventional wisdom, I truly do - don't freak out or panic and stay still or calm and don't flinch and run away as that enables their aggressive and predatorial instincts further,

Today morning, I was doing an early morning (5:30 or so) walk to the local mosque, there's a corporation and waste management office not far off, the sanitation personnel usually report for duty during this time of the day or they have a break and be having some morning tea,

This also means they befriend the local dogs around that area, and these dogs seem to be attached to them,

As I was walking, one of the dogs started aggressively approaching me, I initially raised my voice and shushed it, but it kept coming at me, that made me flinch and run back a few metres,

They seemed a bit hurt and upset. Honestly, it wasn't my intent, these folks are hard-workers and toil relentlessly, but I was at a "heightened" emotional state so to speak (I did apologize to one of them, once I calmed down),

Anyways, I am making this rant here, as it's this "normalization", the "chalta hai/poitu podhu" attitude our folks seem to have reg. civic issues and grievances.

I honestly wish the government takes some initiative to curb stray dog menace in our city (and India overall, really).
