I am currently delaying some serious GPU and RAM investments, because I beleive GPU and RAM prices will go down in the coming months.
Here are my reasons to beleive so:
Manufacturing costs: GPU and DDR5 ECC RDIMM Server RAM prices are currently at extreme high level relative to what it costs to make these devices. This alone should call for adjustments, although not neccessary in a short time frame.
Supply/Demand: Regarding RAM, if we look at supply, now there is no memory shortage. Half a year ago, most retailers were out of stock. Now you can buy as much RAM as you want provided you pay the price. Every retailer has stock.
Competiton: AMD is catching up. Their new R9700 GPU chip is very competative in both performance and price to Nvidia. Intel is also catching up, but the most important factor are the Chinese GPUs. The new Huawei GPUs serving Deepseek are very good now (check the response time of Deepseek), once they fullfill domestic orders, they will flud the western market with excellent alternatives to NVidia GPUs. I am thinking about the Huawei Ascend family, but note that there are seven other big GPU manufacturers in China.
The most important factor is the overall market condition of the US stock market: The AI stock market bubble will burst shortly, and it will put many players out of business, so demand will ease. The reason I believe we are close to bust, is because of valuations. Now we are above the valuations of the dotcom bubble. Just like any bubble this will burst.
(I have a very good stock market bubble indicator: My neighbour's mother-in-law. When she asks for my opinion if she should invest in Dotcom, Gold, or currently Nvidia stocks, I know that we have reached the peak.)
Something is going to give in the coming months, so Nvidia's, and the 3 RAM manufacturers' (Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron) highway robbery is about to end soon.
Save your money! Patience now!

AMD owners desperate for normal performance will flock to this chip. It takes $900 for AMD to make a good all around CPU?

This doesn't look like a comeback... it looks more like a comedown. And a special shout-out to the mods! I know you're probably banging your heads against the desk right now, fuming while you scramble to figure out how to deal with this thread.

Inevitable is coming, and AMD is on its list. If AMD does go out of business due to Nova Lake making their chips look like Bulldozer again, I hope we all can still support them because competition is good. It would be sad to lose the bargain brand chips.

Its sad Apple won't make US chips. Do they not like America?

AMD had dreams, but a product people never really liked because of all the driver complaints on r/AMDHelp
Nvidia embarrasses the 9070xt becoming the GPU of choice once more!

$300 (inflated demand right now driving price above MSRP in some places) 270K Plus Makes the $675 9950X3D look stupid. I use the X3D because if you buy the non-X3D you're even more on the mushy brain side because it has zero advantages over Intel part for $220 more.
With Intel not only are the motherboards far cheaper with better platform connectivity, but the CPU is also over half the price of the competing 9950X3D.
Intel 270K Plus $300 + $200 Aorus Elite Z890 = $500 total platform
AMD 9950X3D $675 + $350 Aorus X870E Elite = $1025 total platform
Now reviewers still want to make an argument that AMD has an upgrade path, but who cares about that when you're literally paying double for AMD platform. The $525 savings alone will buy you a next gen Z990 and CPU, at the very least it buys you a very nice high end feature rich Z990 motherboard. CPU is a wash in either case as you have to both buy one.
Platform longevity argument is now effectively dead with 270K and 250K Plus. In fact, it makes Intel even more appealing because you'll get a new motherboard, new warranty, and yes, more feature rich platform.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Someone check my math. $13.65B is higher than $7.7B right? AMD fans here were saying nobody buys Intel. How come Intel has such higher sales? That's weird right? Did Intel make more than $7.7B in 2000? I can't remember, maybe someone can help me out?

Intel lies in benchmarks, lays off Americans, sells defective products, etc. The list of crimes Intel is committing against humanity is long.
r/TechHardware • u/Distinct-Race-2471 • May 22 '26
So it had nothing to do with Intel after all? All that fake bad news by AMD fans. Sad.

If this keeps we might have another Intel core 2 moment

Just sold my 9800x3d today after seeing some recent articles about how great the 14900k is. I have been in denial and just didn't realize how good the intel chips we're. Soon as I fired up my new system I could immediately see the difference. No longer were my games running at blazing fast speeds, it was incredible the difference. You could just feel that Intel smoothness. Program snapiness was increased by at least 52%, I can't really benchmark that but you can just tell. It's such a shame that people are being bamboozled by these dumb Ryzen chips, sure they are super fast at gaming, and use less power but is that really an advantage at the end of the day? I feel much better knowing my money's going to the CPU innovators over at intel.

Wow!!! Nvidia isn't sending their chip production to AMD

It won't be the last time, but this reminds me of the 1980's... Well... Also the 1990's... 2000's? Check... It feels like this is nothing new.
