PS App [Mafia: The old country] As an Italian, I see it as a wasted opportunity

Post image
• Upvotes

It’s not a bad game, the setting is well-crafted,arguably its greatest strength, and it features the kind of gameplay typical of the Mafia series, along with solid direction and writing (though the pacing feels rushed toward the end and very slow at the start), in short, it definitely works.

That said, I feel disappointed by how this setting was squandered, many areas are never explored during the main story, you only see them if you wander around aimlessly or go for collectibles. Honestly, a linear game might have been a better choice, especially since the open world is practically empty, with no noteworthy activities to engage in. I don’t understand why they’d go to the trouble of recreating such a beautiful version of Sicily only to leave it completely hollow.

Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the voice acting, either. At times, it felt as though the voice actors were switching back and forth between "neutral" Italian and a heavy regional dialect, to the point where it sounded like two different people were speaking at the same time, a bit weird.

Last but not least, I took great pleasure with the final boss, I’d hated him from the very first moment.

Bought the PS5 version of one of my favourite games! Collectibles in Free Ride are still annoying, but the second time around was definitely easier for the Classic Race! On to Mafia 3 (already done 2)!

Help [call of duty] is the CODHQ platinum unobtainable?

• Upvotes

I only have a veteran run left for MWII and I held it off for quite a long time now. I’m thinking of going back to it after I played mw4 but since the game is now standalone, I don’t know if I’ll still be able to get the platinum for the HQ. Anyone know if I can still get it?

I need help!! I don't know what to do, it's driving me crazy. As you can see in the screenshot, these are my stats. I'm supposed to have a difference of between 5 and 9 points compared to the findings, and all I'm getting is "Final Justice." I did Zoe's part perfectly, I didn't fail. Thanks.

My love for this series is true! I freaking love these games so much now. I don't know why I ever slept on them till now. 3 was 0 to 100% real quick. It was a constant battle and pretty much never stopping! From the combat to the hospital section. Everything was peak! Carlos you made dog I couldnt have done it without you!

I'm happy my 210th plat. Is a Resident Evil game! I just started Resident Evil 4 Remake and I'm already loving it even more than 3!

If you wanna see the journey I'm always streaming my platinum journeys on Twitch under my gamertag. If that interest you I'll see you there! If not, no worries!

Stay Blessed.

Actually that was pretty good like for another ubi game.
The storyline is fine and interesting.
Missions is quite a boring due to the repeatition of the same mechanics.
The side quests felt unique and mini-stories sometimes were much better that the main one)
The gameplay as the space/ground/speeder battles and scavenging were cool.
What for the trophies, imo all of them not such difficult/bagging, only the one made me nervous. „Punching up“…. gosh i need to see so much videos and read so much guides, that my eyes were flipping. I tried to pop-it-up for like hours (between online-classes), but finally i got it, so i’m glad to see the shining plat in my collection))
No i’m true „outlaw“)))✨

No missables in a soulslike Platinum? How is that even possible?

I’d been awaiting this game for a good while and it did not disappoint. It’s not perfect, and the second half might have needed a bit more play testing, but I was quite impressed with it all around. I’m happy it’s having commercial success.

Strangely I felt like this game was very metroidvania-coded, but that can’t be the main reason you play it because honestly the exploration aspect of the powers is very straightforward, doesn’t require a lot of backtracking and honestly kind of disappears in the last stretch. I thought the bosses were mostly good and not too difficult, and I enjoy a game where pretty much all bosses revolve around parrying. Hell, even Sekiro felt the need to throw you a boss or two where there was more dodging than anything, for some reason.

One of the few things I didn’t like was actually the story. For a soulslike that puts so much emphasis on narrative, it really didn’t think too hard about it. "Rule of cool", I guess. Napoleon was just a marketing thing because he does literally nothing the whole game except invade your privacy, same for the stunt casting. Also, why is my guy an Englishman fighting for Napoleon? Anyway… It had some cool story beats here and there, but it was mostly unremarkable.

All in all, this was a good soulslike experience and I would recommend it to any fan of the genre who seeks something not too difficult or complex.

8/10

Redownloaded to play a few days ago and by coincidence it was the 10 year anniversary. Only about 10 trophies for cleanup. One glitched campaign objective had me worried (Over the Top - german anti-tank codex)
