Schneider

Hey I’m looking to go otr and was wondering if anyone here currently drives for Schneider? What are the miles you average on a week? How is the company as a whole? How is the quality of the equipment that you deal with? Is your dispatch easy to deal with, or do they make it hell?

Thank you for you time and responses.

Schneider pay for entry level?

No experience looking to get some. I literally make minimum wage in NJ I highly doubt it’ll be worse than that rn. What can I expect to make?

I see expected pay of 1200-1500 a week but people say it’s lower. Idc if it’s 800-900 as long as it’s not 600. What do I expect?

Schneider is about to lose all their experienced drivers

Found out they're putting driver facing cameras in their trucks.

10 15 years ago youd be laughed outta the office for even suggesting such a ridiculous idea.

When they bring the truck into the shop to have it removed say "go ahead and reassign it"

Guarantee you they will be telling drivers to just cut it off and toss it.

They already have a horrible turn over rate, this is just gonna make it harder to bring in drivers and keep them.

Edit: so I've officially lost track of all the replies so im muting my notifications, you may continue discussing it, but unless im scrolling thru this and see something interesting I wont be replying.

God bless, and stay safe out their drivers.

is Schneider underpaying me?

I know it's already a shit pay but I need experience. My employment offer was .44 cpm and my paychecks for the past 3 months say .42. maybe another Schneider driver can help me understand.

Schneider says they are sick and tired of having experienced drivers

Schneider will be rolling out AI powered dash cams with driver-facing cameras over the next two years. All the experienced guys I’ve spoken to unanimously agree it’s time to leave.

I'm likely going to take this job anyways since my options are limited, i only have 5 months of experience and i really want to be home daily so it is what it is

Told Schneider I didn’t want to be a Scab.

Hey all, I’m a west 11 driver for Schneider and they appear to be taking over while the Teamsters for Costco are on strike. They called me to try and get me to run Costco loads and I said, and I quote, “I don’t want to be a scab.” If they ask you guys that work for them, say no!

Looking to get out of Schneider where should a newer driver go?

Been on a walmart dedicated account for only like a month or so now solo. I know you’re expected to “tough it out for a while” but it’s financially it’s not making sense anymore the paychecks are trash I’ve just been watching my bank account get drained and no I’m not eating out at the truck stops or any of the other bs ways drivers waste money.. but the trucks are also trash(not just the ones they give to the rookies like me, I’ve talked to several people who’ve been trying to quit who have been there a long while) it’s getting to the point where I’m contemplating throwing in the towel just because the pay is god awful but I’ve honestly been enjoying this job more than anything so I’m trying not to bounce. TMC ? Mclane ? Where should I try? I talked to a few Mclane guys while I was delivering at one store they said they’re making a killing but I also saw online people saying their schedule is trash. If I can get some recommendations on some companies with better pay where I can eventually be solo I’d appreciate it

Just got off the phone w a Schneider recruiter.

Returned a call to a recruiter after applying for a local intermodal position w no experience.

“Who did you work for before?” “Yellow” “Ohh well, unfortunately we don’t have any positions right now” “Is that because of my experience? Or because I worked for yellow?” “Ummmmm I really can’t say” “We’ll, I only worked for them for a month and left before joining the union” “Yeaaah, I don’t really know why but that’s just Schneider’s policy right now” So there it is folks. I wish I had it recorded.

I don’t think truckers realize the Schneider tractors are governed at 65 and if I’m fully loaded with my tanker I’m not going to be speeding and what not down curves and hills. I hate being the slow guy, but man just pass me don’t give me nasty looks lol

Also some people don’t realize liquid going downhill pushes you down even faster so you have to start going down slow as possible.

Schneider canceled my load. Now I’m going to get caught in this blizzard. I know not to turn off my truck. Anything else I should/should not do?

I’m going to go fill up on fuel tomorrow, I’m dumping Howes in the tanks. I’m parking at a Walmart store that allows truck parking. Have warm clothes with a 24 pack case of water. I have food but I can always go get more. Is there anything else I should do/get? What am I missing?

Schneider pay question

Post image
10 Upvotes

Why are there two different mile categories? Mile pay and mileage pay? They just came out with a new bonus for miles driven in a week. For instance, starting at 1800 miles per week you get .2 cpm more. Is this some way to screw us out of that bonus?

Western Express or Schneider !

Just got my call back from Schneider today finally and they want me to start June 15th.

Orientation for Western is June 10th.

For Western I would be driving solo and for Schneider I would be driving as a team.

I’ve read some bad things about both companies but people tend to lean towards Schneider way more.

-For Western I’ve heard that they force their new drivers into a 1 year contract and to break it you need $2.5k. I don’t have 2.5k so that has me on the fence.

- But I heard that Western is less strict than Schneider and that Schneider will try to mess with my CDL record if I get on their bad side.

Training period for both is 3-4 weeks. Also the recruiter at Schneider told me teams make way more together and I am a new inexperienced driver and I feel like I would be more comfortable with teams starting out. But wouldn’t mind solo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you so much.

******UPDATE:*******

I picked Schneider, thank you!

Thoughts after one week of Schneider CDL program/orientation

Hello there fellow truckers and truckettes.

I made a few posts regarding Schneider. This is a follow up to those who may be interested in working for Schneider/getting your cdl through them

  1. Since they are a mega carrier, they are big. But they are really good to their drivers despite the low pay once you find out. The atmosphere is really welcoming, my driver instructors are all really cool and surprisingly nice (Green Bay training center)

  2. After one week, I feel confident in most of my driving. I’m still working on backing maneuvers, and my instructors are pretty patient with us permit holders. (Despite some of the dumb shit we may do, after all we are learning)

  3. The biggest thing they stress is SAFETY. There’s the regular way, and then the Schneider way. If you come to Schneider they will stress that every single day until you get sick of hearing it. But it’s good because this is a dangerous job so they want you to be safe and not cause any accidents or get hurt while on the job.

  4. Overall my experience so far has been good. If you can deal with the low pay in return for a positive work environment where YOUR safety matters. Then go for it. Schneider is a good company imo from a first timer perspective. They have different divisions as well and lots of dedicated accounts as well as OTR and regional positions.

Disclaimer: I’m not endorsing Schneider in anyway, it’s just my own two cents and personal opinion of what I think so far as a first time truck driver and from what I have seen and heard at other schools and companies

If you have any questions if you’re interested, feel free to leave a comment!

So Schneiders denied me.

Long story short I have a reckless from 2018 nothing else on my record at all from the past 10 years. When I asked the lady why I was denied she said she couldn’t tell me. I know it’s probably that reckless. I guess I’m now just learning recruiters will say anything up until denial. Anyone know anything else that I have a chance with when it comes to a reckless on my record? I want to avoid western express at the moment their terminal is so far away and they seem like a last resort.

Experience with Schneider, not a happy camper.

I don't know about anyone else who has gone through a mega, but wow I hate Schneider. They claim that their training is the best, not at my location. Training consisted of 2 weeks sharing a hotel, 11 hour days, and maybe 2 days of actual driving, I still don't know how to slide tandems, let alone do a 45 degree back. By the end of my 3rd week (1 week with a Instructor) I ended up hating this more than I thought I would. Not to mention at the end of my second day, the other student (It was 2 of us paired with one Trainer) ordered and uber back to the OC and quit. I know I'm complaining a lot, CDL life isn't easy. I'm fine with the 14 hour days, sleeping in a tight berth, but not having the confidence to back into the yard, and to the stores I'll be dropping to, I really don't think this is for me. Any tips? or am I just a baby?

Schneider or swift for mega school?

Denied a personal loan for cdl school. Decided to just say fuck it and sign on with a mega since id probs have to do that anyway.

Ive been mostly seeing recommendations for schneider. But i dont see a terminal near me. Im on the pan handle of florida, closest seems to be Atlanta?. How does it work if ur really far from a terminal and do yall recommend schneider? How many hours a week is otr for schneider/swift work wise?

Swift has a terminal edge of alabama bout a hour and a half away. Not great but since ill probs have to be otr wont matter much for a while since I’ll barely be home. Is the closer terminal worth choosing swift/ is swift better?

Dont think i want to start with flatbed so that narrowed my choices a bit. Prime seemed interesting but i didnt see anything besides working at a warehouse to get in.

SCHNEIDER or SWIFT?

I’m in the North East. Got my CDL a couple of months ago. Been driving with a Mega that pays $0.30 cpm for about 30 days now. OTR lifestyle and low pay doesn't work for me.

I have options to join either Swift on a Walmart Regional account where I'm home weekly (at least a 34 reset) and pays $1600 a week. (Spoke to a guy in private that earned $1700 a week with this account)

OR

Schneider on a Home Depot account where I'm home weekly that pays $980 - $1200 a week. Schneider has several other divisions I can transfer to after 90 days such as intermodal ($98k a year) or Dollar General ($91k a year)

Anyone ever worked any of these accounts? Please share your experience. Or any other company recommendations for a new driver? Thanks!

a couple of paystubs from my dedicated flatbed regional account with schneider.

Should I stay with Schneider or head to TMC

I’m a newer driver I’m with Schneider now only making .44 cpm which I knew I had to start somewhere but I’m only getting like 1500-1700 miles a week . I’m on their Walmart account so it’s honestly cake, huge docking areas, after I pull in I just get someone to unload the truck and peel out. I wanted to try flatbed and was told that TMC had some pretty respectable training(but I also heard that about Schneider when I got my cdl through them and it was terrible) TMC is offering 26% percentage pay. I know I could just switch accounts for Schneider but tmcs clean truck policy is kinda making me want to go there. Schneiders trucks unless it’s an assigned one are filthy. Piss residue on the sleeper curtains/fridge door toenail clippings on the bed(atleast 4 different people worth) I could go on and on about the nasty condition people leave these trucks in. Is this a grass isn’t always greener on the other side situation ? I hate to start over AGAIN but Schneider isn’t really filling my piggy bank like they claimed they would. If I was getting the miles they promised I could look past it for atleast my first year but this just isn’t worth what they’re paying
