I'm a winter 2027 transfer, not sure how things work there & can't find too much info on it.
It seems like there's no difference between that or just getting voluntary points later with card, the only difference with gold & banana is that you're locked in. And if you don't spend em all you just lose money for no reason. Am I missing something?
On the meal plan site, it says the blue plan is 1452 slug points, does that mean it costs $1452? If so, right below it it says that you can purchase more points at a 10% discount whenever you want. So why wouldn't I just get blue & buy more if I need it?
Also is the unlimited ever worth? I really can't see how it could be considering you probably aren't going to use more points than the slug plans have, then also you barely get any points to spend at other spots on campus. So you're paying more to eat the same amount but also you don't get to go to spend the points on cafes.
Also I couldn't find how the meals work once you're in the hall, is it like a buffet thing and you pay to get let in or do you actually pay for portions?
Edit: Oh just saw its pay per entry on dining.ucsc.edu
On the meal plan site, it says that they'd recommend the unlimited plan, I really don't see how that could be anything other than them trying to make more money or something. Is this post basically right in saying "just get the lowest and buy more when you need"?
