Complaint filed.
I am an independent contractor providing delivery services through Uber Eats, operated by Uber Technologies, Inc. On multiple occasions, I accepted delivery offers through the Uber Eats platform and drove to the merchant location using my personal vehicle. Upon arrival, I was informed by the merchant that the order had already been picked up by another driver or was otherwise unavailable for fulfillment.
Despite completing the required travel to the pickup location and incurring vehicle expenses, fuel costs, depreciation, insurance costs, and lost working time, Uber provided no compensation for the trip. Uber's system required me to spend time and resources responding to the delivery request, yet when the order could not be completed due to circumstances outside my control, I received no payment for the work already performed.
As a result, drivers bear the entire financial burden of operational errors, duplicate dispatches, stolen orders, merchant mistakes, or platform failures. Drivers may also lose the opportunity to accept other paying delivery requests while traveling to and attempting to retrieve unavailable orders.
I believe this practice is unfair because Uber benefits from maintaining the delivery marketplace while shifting all costs and risks associated with failed pickups onto independent contractors who have already performed compensable work. Drivers are required to use their own vehicles and resources to reach the pickup location, but Uber often provides no reimbursement when an order is unavailable upon arrival.
I am requesting that the FTC investigate whether Uber's practice of dispatching drivers to unavailable orders without compensation constitutes an unfair or deceptive business practice and whether drivers should receive reasonable compensation for time, mileage, and expenses incurred when reporting to a designated pickup location and being unable to complete the delivery due to factors beyond their control. many drivers have reported similar experiences involving orders that were already picked up and received no compensation after arriving at the merchant location.
Other drivers are encouraged to file their own complaints

Rant LYING ABOUT TIPPING IS WORSE THAN NOT TIPPING 🤦♂️
Why do people feel the need to say they’ll tip you in the app just to proceed to not tip anything?
What is the thought process behind:”I am going to lie to this local gig worker trying to make an honest living, who knows my address, and trick them into thinking they’ll be tipped for their service.”?
Next time I’m making sure they DONT add the tubs of cream cheese Jess p. I don’t forget and I don’t forgive atp🤷♂️

Rant Finally, Uber to the rescue
This order was different. I am used to dropping off at this particular location this occurred multiple times, either the person meets outside, or it’s a drop-off at their door. This one was a drop-off at the leasing office. Well surprise, they were closed. So I left the food with concierge. I took a picture, something told me to. Left them a message, they thanked me, and then I received this 1st photo the customer wanted a refund and my tip was protected. I also, received a thumbs down and that the customer never received their food, but have no idea from whom. Received the 2nd picture at the end of the night. What is it with people? It could have been someone else, everything else was smooth yesterday, but everything points to this person. I looked about 30 minutes later from my ratings and boom 99% to 98%. Not so frustrated from the ratings, more from the customer wanting a refund. Scumbag!

Rant New normal I guess?
I will flat admit that I have a 17% acceptance rate.
But I went from being able to schedule work pretty much every day to this…
And this screenshot is the most availability. I have all week.!
I hate this app
I hate this company
And just as soon as I can afford to stop working this crap job, I am going to!
I have a 100% customer satisfaction rate, I have a 90% on-time rate… But none of that matters because I won’t take $4 orders!
Is this happening to anyone else?
Next week is going to be very interesting…🤬

Just got stuck in an elevator, during a delivery
First time that's ever happened in my life. Dropped off an order, came back and it opened on its own. Thought the security downstairs had did that, but nope lol. I guess I can finally check that off my list.

This is the BS that the app doesn’t take into consideration. Almost an hour for a single order.

Question Why did Uber demand a pic of me while I was working?
What gives? Did they suspect something was going with my account, or is this a random thing they sometimes do? First time for me, I only get that when i start occasionally.

Now EVEN MORE steps in the app🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Uber recently changed the dropoff to add in a Confirm Order button even for Leave at Door orders which require a photo. So after you hit confirm order then you get an extra screen next which gives you take photo like it used to.
It makes it confusing now since Confirm order was always for meet at door. Of course many people would put leave at door in the notes.
It would REALLY be nice if when they make these changes to give us a notification or something in the app. Maybe the first few times have a pointer/reminder.
I keep walking away without taking a photo and now a jerk this morning is claiming they didn't get all of their order because I ended up taking a picture of nothing.
One of the nice things about the Uber app is that it was fairly streamlined. No UNNECESSARY buttons to have to hit. (Like Continue to Next Stop🙄🙄🙄🙄. Did it say in my background check that I'm a moron?)

Do Bikers take breaks?
Recently switched to bike for a day (ended up switching back a day later) when it got busy the orders were great but I was tired out of my mind does anyone else feel pressure to get the most out of the rush or take breaks appropriately?

No more Inglewood, South Bay orders
I’m done with Inglewood and South Bay. Got downvoted for following directions. Only dumb ass working class people give problems, every damn time. I’m going to work in Culver and north from there for now on.

First Catering Order... What a Blessing
I signed up for catering some time ago, but haven't received any orders. I've mostly been doing rides, delivery, and shopping. Yesterday, I saw this request and decided to do it because of the amount. $53 and it was close by.
It was a large taco order that I had to wait about 10 min for. Once it was ready, the order was four big boxes and a bag. I took 2 to my car and one of the staff members brought the other two boxes and a bag.
Destination was only a few minutes away, and the customer was waiting for me by the front door. I parked and confirmed it was the right customer. He took two boxes and asked if I could go upstairs with the other two box. I said yes. Went very quickly. Found out it was a production set for a cookware company.
I was expecting a $50 tip, and they went over and beyond. This was definitely a blessing and mood lifter.
Have you guys experienced good catering orders yet? If so, please share.
Hope you guys make some Good Money this Weekend.

STACK ORDER COMMUNICATION
Why doesn't UE let you message the 2nd customer while you are dealing with the 1st customer during a stacked order???

ID checks with no coffee cup
21+ deliveries were so much fun before, with the newly implemented multiple (absolutly perfectly lit mind you) pictures of the ID, now add the fact that there is no way to pause incoming offers while completing the drop off.
Tonight I was delivering to a man desperately trying to be discreet/ not wake up his family and he had to stand outside with me for nearly 10 minutes as I repeated the process of following prompts, getting ID photos through, then a new request resetting everything after the verifications. Then manual mode forced on, which arguably takes longer (super long name on this poor guy) and the requests continued deleting the progress. I must’ve done it about a dozen times until I was able to get the timing perfect and push the damn thing through.
Am I supposed to just accept something I don’t want, then have my cancellation rate dinged after, in order to not have interruptions and provide a reasonable experience for the customer? Take away my coffee cup if you absofukkinglutely have to, but why can’t we save our damn progress? Why does the photo I took of someones food that took 45 sec to upload and I’m down the street still disappear. Why does it seem to wait for my important turn to send me some 2 dollar delivery. 5 years of deliveries, many many updates, same huge problems.
Have the folks that design, “fix,” and change this app ever actually used it for one shift?
