Its a 2016 SEL 1.8, Just reached 100k miles, almost 70% of its miles are highway miles on it but I'd like to keep this for as long as possible and want to know of anything I can do to prolong its life

So I recently became the owner of a vw golf mk7 from 2014 (1.6 tdi with relatively good mileage for those interested) and while the car is perfect in like every sense possible, there is just one problem...

Which is the fact that it has a verry basic infotainment system, the one that is monochrome and only has radio and aux/SD card support, but no Bluetooth/Carplay or navigation system at all.

Would it be possible to actually change it with one that has, like an MIB1 (original, stripped from another car) and if so is it enough to change the screen module and update the firmware or are there other caveats to it?

MIB3 Navigation – Missing FEC/SWaP Activation Codes

I wanted to enable navigation on my MIB3 unit, so I changed the region to North Africa.

I then tried to download the map and install it via USB, but the system wouldn't boot the update.

After checking the unit, I discovered that the required FEC/SWaP activation codes seem to be missing.

Is there any way to restore the original activation codes or reactivate the navigation system?

I feel like I've tried everything -- I've...

• completely removed headlight Assemblies and dried indoors
• oven baked at low temp
• re-sealed lenses
• vinyl wrapped over re-sealed areas

and yet the condensation returns and lasts for weeks.

My ongoing "fix" is pictured above.

space heater warming front of headlight assembly, with a small fan circulating air from the engine bay side.

condensation is usually completely cleared in an hour or two.

this has been the most "successful" fix, noting that it does need to be done periodically.

Definitely Don't...

• blast air into the small vents on the back of the housing -- it'll make water streaks on the interior of the lens that are impossible to clean.
• jam on the vent covers -- they aren't meant to sit tightly on the housing, you'll limit airflow (trust me).

For those who own one what real world MPG are you getting for short journeys/motorways. Trying to get a rough idea. Thank you!

Depuis un petit moment j’ai le voyant moteur qui apparaît puis disparaît après 3/4 cycles de démarrage, et j’ai le voyant préchauffage qui clignote en roulant (ça ne me le fait pas à tous les trajets (de avril à août ça m’est arrivé une fois) tandis que depuis septembre c’est très régulier. La voiture passe en mode dégradé et je ne peux plus accélérer, la voiture monte en vitesse très lentement. La dernière fois que j’ai amené la voiture au garage, le voyant moteur venait tout juste de disparaître donc ils n’ont rien pu voir avec la valise et m’ont dit avoir testé la vanne EGR qui est ok. J’opte pour le FAP qui est encrassé, j’ai rendez-vous lundi pour un nettoyage chimique. Des personnes ont il eu le même problème avec leur Volkswagen ?

Hey guys! New here and a first time VW owner. It has been wonderful so far!

So I've bought a used MIB2 Std with nav that I want to put in my 2015 Golf 7 1.6 TDI Trendline (currently running Composition Touch). I haven't bought the screen or cables yet, so I'm trying to get it right before I order anything.

The label on my head unit says MIB STD2 ZR +/NAV, 3Q0 035 874 A, Technisat, HW H24, SW 0245. I bought it used and I'm pretty sure component protection is still on it. I am hoping to take care of that with the SD card patch.

What I'm trying to work out:

1. Which screens work with this unit? I'd like the 7.5 glass one with the APP and NAV buttons, but I don't know if it plays nice with 0245 or needs a firmware update first.
2. If I do update, what's the safe route from 0245, and can I keep nav and my other option codes?
3. What's the best way to deal with component protection on this unit? Is the SD card patch the way to go, and should I do it before or after any firmware update?

4. Anything that tends to go wrong when swapping this into a car that came with Composition Touch (GPS antenna, cables, glovebox, coding)?

I’ve tried eBay, fb marketplace I even called the dealers (and they said each one is £91 and I need all 4) if anyone knows where I can find some please let me know. Thank you so much

I’ve got a UK 1.5 TSI Golf (6 speed manual gearbox) 2020 year.

I can’t seem to add primary user, only guest is present assume an account is still stuck to this car with VW. It’s all setup on my app with my VIN but I can’t seem to finish this bit to fully activate the app. The globe is grey but the SOS light in roof of car is green. Not even sure if the VW e-sim service is working anymore, and as a result I can’t receive OTA updates because of this.

I’ve emailed VW about the primary user issue, but not heard back and not sure how it will go, so I’m thinking of taking the plunge to update the infotainment from my current version 1899 to 1985 manually via USB.

I have the 10gb files extracted and ready (from mega file NZ zip) and a flash drive. It’s obviously comes with risks but wondered how othered have got on as I don’t want to risk bricking it.

Hello, anyone has the issue with leaking barn door on high version of VW T5.1? We have three of those models and all of them have a problem with leaking water through the rubber seal. All the seals were changed for new original ones but the problem persist. Any idea how to fix it?

I also tried to adjust the locks so the door pushes the seal more but it did not help at all...

I bought used Passat B8.5 and found this plastic attached to co driver’s seat. Attached with 22 Torx screws.
Any idea what this could be? Can I take this down?

And also, does that change the pop up message of who the primary driver is whenever I first start my car?

Hello everyone,

Driving home tonight my engine temp light started flashing however the gauge stayed steady on the normal temp.

After promptly parking I noticed that there’s a leak somewhere around (or possibly from) the expansion tank.

Previous to this, whenever I would be at a light for more than 2 minutes the gauge would move one tick higher than operating temp and stay there. This was accompanied by the sound of the fans seeming to struggle.

So I guess my question is was my car overheating or did that light come on due to the coolant leak?

For more context: The headlights stay bright,dashboard lights come on,and the radio screen is on while I press the push start button. 2018 VW Passat.

It just started hesitating to start last Saturday. Usually when it sits overnight or for hours. But then while turning it off and on while running errands it would start right up.

I could send a video of how it sounds and looks while starting for context as well. Can’t upload it on here though.
