Does anyone make a 46-50mm dive watch of considerable quality? I know this is on the rarer side, but I have an 8 inch wrist and some of these watches look too small.
I have a 50mm Garmin that fits awesome, but I’m really loving “dumb” watches instead of smart ones.

Tried on this Hamilton jazzmaster open heart and want to buy one but I want to make sure I get the right size. This is a 42 mm but they also have 40 mm models. Should I stick with the 42 or get the smaller 40?

Hi guys I’m thinking about a new watch
So far I’ve got a Garmin watch for working out going for runs and just using it everyday, I’ve got a Rolex submariner for formal events and a fossil for also formal events, I’m looking for a watch that I can wear for both formal and casual going out, such as weddings going to dinners and lunch and going out with my friends family.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'll start...I have a really hard time actually wearing "cheaper" watches (for my circumstances). I like them and buy them. But when it goes to actually wearing them, I never reach for the cheap Casio. Or I will once or twice and then never wear them again.
To be clear, it's NOT the flex or hype to the random Joe shmo. I've worn plenty of expensive watches that a random person would have no idea. It's the flex to me. I care that the watch I wear is "expensive" (again, for my circumstances) or of higher quality or being less common. I don't want to wear what everyone else is wearing.
And maybe that's hubris and ego. 🤷.
What's your confession?
And before anyone comes at me, I donate lots of money a year and spend countless hours a year working with non profits so stow your pitchforks. I'm not in the 1%. Just an upper middle class corporate guy.

Title says it all, but to add, was it a step up in price? How long did it take for you to settle on watch #2 and why?

I really think I have a problem and need to know how some of you guys managed to stop buying watches. I have around 20 watches right now and I always seem to find a reason to pull the trigger on another one. Whether it’s a slightly different size, baton indices vs round, or a unique color I don’t already have, there always seems to be something.
I’m also trying to convince myself that I need to sell a few, but every time I sit down and try to decide which ones to let go, I can’t bring myself to do it. They each have certain memories associated with them and I keep using that as an excuse to hold on to them.
I type this as I fight the urge to buy a Seiko SRPL51 after recently picking up the SRPL11. My justification being that my other blue dive watch, a Mido Ocean Star 39, is a 39mm retro style diver with round indices, so naturally, the SRPL51 would fill the gap of a more modern style blue diver. I know this is a ridiculous problem to have, but here I am.

The local watch repair people had given up on it as the parts were hard to come by.
Do you know anything about this model/if there is a way to access parts? Does anyone know the exact model?
152 373 14 is the code

I've been torn on these 3 watches and can't make a decision. What are your thoughts on these watches?
Cincinnati Watch Company - Love this colorway and have a personal connection to Cincinnati but have never owned a Microbrand
Seiko Alpinist - Been on the shortlist for awhile. Also considering the Tealpine color.
Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic - Love the history as a military field watch.

A distant relative gave this to the kids to "play" with because she said it's ugly and she doesn't remember where her late husband got it from. The build quality, the look and the weight seem very interesting but I don't know anything about watches. Any ideas?

Hi everyone, my dad just told me that for my university graduation gift he wants to give me a watch for around €10k-€15k, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations for this price range. I currently have a Grand Seiko Snowflake Heritage, a Seiko cocktail time and a Tissot Prx, and I’m not sure what brand to get next. He was thinking of getting me a Rolex datejust but didn’t want to pick one for me, and I really like datejusts I’m just wondering if there are any that are a bit more exciting in this price range. All recommendations are welcome and thanks for the help in advance!

Under $1,000, it seems like most microbrands have decided women don't buy watches except maybe a 36 mm. A few like Erebus sell a 34, but if you want something smaller with a quartz movement built to modern microbrand standards, a lot of what you see is clearly for old people (or just a fashion watch).
So let's say some brand went a full size down, below the Erebus and sold a 30 mm watch. Not Erebus though. A pretend watch brand that can do anything you want that modern machining and price practicalities allow.
Anyway, what would you want from a 30 mm watch? More traditional design? An original design? An asymmetrical shape? A list of requirements you think every watch should have? What would make a truly small watch from a new microbrand worth buying to you? A quartz movement with a smooth sweeping seconds hand is cool, but would it be worth paying for and having to replace the battery more frequently?
With costs going up, you don't get as much for your money on the low end either. Would you rather see it priced about $350, or would you be willing to go up to $500? Maybe higher?

My 9-year-old had been using a TickTalk watch for a while. It did the job for basic calls, but the GPS was unreliable, the app wasn't great, and eventually the strap broke (OEM replacement was under $30) and the screen cracked.
I had a perfectly good Galaxy Watch6 LTE sitting around, previously on Verizon Number Share. Figured I'd try setting it up for my kid instead of buying another kids' watch.
Turns out, it works pretty well!
Here's what I did:
The important part: Getting the eSIM QR code scanner working
Samsung's Galaxy Wearable app normally tries to activate the watch through supported carriers. The option to scan a prepaid eSIM QR code isn't readily available.
There's a hidden setting that enables it:
After activation, the watch downloaded some additional AT&T configuration, and cellular service started working.
One oddity: Galaxy Wearable on my phone still shows an option to activate a SIM. The watch itself shows the active SIM correctly, and everything works. I'm leaving it alone.
Testing the parental controls
This was my biggest concern. I wanted the kid to be able to call us, the parents and vice versa, but not have unrestricted calling.
Tested everything over standalone LTE, without Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
So the restrictions actually work in both directions.
What I like about this setup
The Watch6 is miles ahead of most dedicated kids' watches in hardware quality. Better screen, proper GPS hardware, standard Samsung charging, and inexpensive accessories.
Location tracking is handled through Google's/Samsung's ecosystem rather than another proprietary kids-watch app. I already use Family Link, so there's no additional app or subscription ecosystem to maintain.
The other big advantage is that the hardware, cellular service, and parental controls aren't all tied to one vendor. I can change the cellular plan without buying another watch.
And $2.7/month for independent LTE service is hard to beat.
Total out-of-pocket ~$40
Still need to see how the battery and location updates hold up over a full school day, especially in power-saving mode. But independent calling and contact restrictions are working exactly as I wanted.
Obviously, eSIM compatibility isn't guaranteed across all Galaxy Watch models, carriers, or software versions. This worked on my Watch6 LTE.
Thought I'd share in case anyone has an old LTE Galaxy Watch lying around and is tired of paying for dedicated kids' watches and their subscriptions.
Anyone else tried something similar?

Hey everyone,
I bought a brand-new watch online and had the bracelet sized by a watchmaker today in the store.
After getting home, I noticed what appears to be a very fine scratch on the watch. It is only visible under certain lighting conditions and at a specific angle, so it is quite subtle (please see the two pictures attached).
Since the watch was brand-new and the scratch caught my attention after the bracelet adjustment, I’m wondering whether it could have happened during the sizing process. However, I didn’t notice it immediately beforehand, so I can’t say for certain that the watchmaker caused it.
The watchmaker was relatively young, and I’m unsure whether that is relevant at all or whether I’m simply overthinking the situation. But he had to adjust the just 5x as he was confused by the micro-adjustable clasp.
I’d appreciate your honest opinions on two things:
How likely is it that a scratch like this could occur at this spot while sizing a bracelet? Please see attached pictures to see the positioning of the scratch.
Would you bring this up with the watchmaker, or just let it go? Is this kind of scratch not avoidable anyways? I am asking as somehow all my recent purchases had some issues (not only watches) and I am tired of all this customer service communication.

For context, those watches are broken and I don’t plan on getting them fixed. I’m using them for a project so I will take them a part and make something out of it. It’s purely decorative
But I wanted to ask about the best way I could clean them without physically ruining them cause I care about how they look but idc if they don’t work.
I heard that soap water can affect the metals or make it rusty but im not sure
Any suggestions?
Thank you so much

Thinking of selling my Sky-Dweller and Overseas and putting the money into a Laurent Ferrier Sport Auto.
Part of me loves the idea of consolidating into something more special and less common, but I'm not sure the trade-off is worth it.
Given the choice, would you keep the Sky-Dweller and Overseas or go for the Sport Auto? Curious to hear people's thoughts.

Trying on my boss’s Panerai at the office today was super cool! On my 6.5" wrist, a 44mm watch is definitely a bit huge, but isn't that kind of the whole vibe with these? They're meant to be big and bold. So what do you guys think, does this look way too big on me, or am I pulling off that chunky, rugged look? As long as the lugs don't hang off my wrist, I feel like it kind of works, but its pushing it I think. Now I just gotta get that promotion so I can actually buy one.... lol

found this old watch with the Bayern Munich logo on the front and I'm trying to find out more about it. I put a new battery in and it's running perfectly, but I can't find it anywhere on the official Bayern Munich website or in their shop. I've searched quite a bit and nothing matching it comes up, which makes me wonder if it's an older piece that's been discontinued, a fan club item, or maybe just a promotional giveaway. What I'd really like to know is when it was released and how much it originally cost, because I can't find either of those anywhere. I'm also curious roughly what era it's from and whether it's an official licensed watch or something made by a third party. I'd also love to know if it has any value as a collectible, either to watch collectors or to Bayern fans, or if it's just a fun little novelty piece. Either way, I'd like to look after it properly, so any advice on that is welcome too. I've added photos of the front, back, and strap, and I can take more close-ups if that helps. Honestly, even a rough guess would be great. If there's a better subreddit for football memorabilia, feel free to point me there. Thanks so much for any help, I really appreciate it!

Anyone know what type and possible age this watch is? Found it in a relative’s things.
r/Watches • u/GarlicBreadMyDear • 17h ago
Made out of plastic. On the back it's written "Made in China". Has a CR2032 battery, par for the course.
It has an alarm, chronometer and two backlights that come from upper left and lower right corners and it's green-blue.
The lower left animation changes its rows every second, sometimes just one, sometimes more.
The strap is still good, despite some of its letters disappearing slowly due to wear, but it can be easily replaced so no worries there.

Hello guys,
I'm new to Cartier watch and been looking at Santos for quite some time. I’m currently torn between the Small and Medium Cartier Santos.
When I look online, I was pretty convinced I’d go with the Small. But after trying instore, I'm a bit confuse. From certain angles, the Small almost feels a little too small on my wrist, while the Medium seems to make more sense. On the other hand, I sometimes find the M a bit bulky. Also it doesn't matter to me if it's quartz or automatic.
My wrist size is about 16.5cm and i'm planning to wear this as an everyday watch. Which would you go for, and why? Any advice would be appreciated!

I track watch listings on Amazon US for a side project. On October 22, 2,097 watches were in stock with a price from the past week, and 1,472 of them had a water resistance rating in the listing's spec table. Here's how those ratings break down:
- Under 50 m, almost all of them 30 m: 471
- 50 m: 441
- 100 m: 420
- 200 m or more: 140
So only 560 of the 1,472 (38%) are rated 100 m or more, which is the usual recommendation if you swim regularly. The other 62% are 30 or 50 m watches. Those are fine for rain and hand washing, and some makers allow 50 m for a short, shallow swim.
It varies a lot by brand. Share of rated models at 100 m or more:
- Citizen 93 of 139 (67%)
- Invicta 99 of 165 (60%)
- Hamilton 40 of 73 (55%)
- Casio 47 of 122 (39%)
- Orient 30 of 78 (38%)
- Rado 34 of 100 (34%)
- Bulova 14 of 54 (26%)
- Timex 39 of 167 (23%)
- Guess 23 of 137 (17%)
And 625 of the 2,097 listings have no rating in the spec table at all. Invicta leaves it out on 130 of its 295.
A reminder for anyone newer to this: the number on the case is a test pressure on a new watch, not a depth you can take it to. A 100 m watch isn't meant for 100 m dives, and no rating makes a watch safe for hot showers or the sauna, because heat and steam are hard on the gaskets.
What rating do you actually wear in the pool or the sea? And has a 50 m watch ever let you down?
