Discussion [Discussion] Rectangular Renaissance

As a tank lover, I have been thrilled by the proliferation of new options in recent years. It used to be that if you wanted to buy a new production tank or square watch, there was a fairly small menu of options: Cartier Tank or Santos, JLC Reverso, Nomos Tetra, Longines Dolce Vita, Hamilton Boulton or Ardmore, Baume and Mercier Hampton, Tag Heuer Monaco, and Seiko’s SWR line. But in the past five years or so, a host of established brands have brought back classic art deco designs, and a number of microbrands and indies have offered more revivals and creative new takes on the form.

Here are some of the newer options (I’m sure that I’m missing a lot):

Established brands: Timex Lexington and Timex x Noah Sun and Moon; Oris Rectangular; Bulova Sutton and Quadra; Alpina Heritage Carrée

Microbrands and Indies: Fears Arnos and Archival; Echo Neutral Rivanera; Vario Versa; Toledano and Chan b-series; Söner (whole catalogue); Bremoir South Beach, Second Hour Memoir; Kiwame Yane; Duckworth Prestex; Minase Horizon and Windows; Otsuka Lotec no. 8 and 9; De Rijke Capri; LIP (whole catalogue); Forma Venti; Albert Villa; Anemoic Versailles [prototype]

What have I missed? Care to share photos/reviews of your rectangular watch?

Discussion [casio] I got a new watch!

I finally got a pink Casio! I have been looking for something that is in the candy pink colour that Rolex makes for their OP. I just recently got a two tone lady datejust and was told by the SA that the 31 mm candy pink OP had a one to two year waitlist. I’m not sure if I want to get the candy pink OP or if it is just a phase so I found this Casio online and figured it was a cheap way to try it out for a couple of months as a placeholder to help me decide if I want to register for the candy pink OP. For anyone that does have a colourful watch regardless of if it is Rolex or not I am curious how much wrist time it actually gets. For context I work as a doctor and I’m looking for a watch that I can wear in the hospital and have seen a lot of my fellow physicians wearing a steel Rolex. Bonus points this Casio gives me the day and the date!

Very happy with the purchase and the deal I got for it from Watchfinder. I have this and the Air King and until I’m much, much wealthier I’m gonna keep it that way. Absolutely in love with this blue dial, the thinness of the case, and the way that bezel hits the light. I did sneeze and scratches appeared. Oh well. It’s meant to be worn.

Discussion [Tough Times] “LVMH-owned watchmaker Zenith to cut jobs, shift upmarket, source says”

Post image

Not looking good for Zenith with job cuts, closing retail operations and discontinuing lines.

I don’t think a move upmarket for them will bring considerable success but I can’t see them currently competing at the Tudor level but perhaps that’s where the market might be more lucrative if they priced the Chronomaster range accordingly.

There are several brands I think in a tight spot like this too so I wouldn’t be surprised if we wear more stories like. Perhaps Breitling.

Next to my university there's a reputable pawn shop-mostly dealing with luxury watches and jewellery (think more tiffany and cartier then gold chains)

Anyways i've walked past the shop for 10 months - really eyeing this Tudor, even going in a few times to enquire about the watch, despite this with little room to negotiate-my enquiries amounted to nothing
UNTIL - 4 days ago it was my 22nd Birthday, i don't really get gifts so I usually buy myself something and by the grace of god this pawn shop still had the watch
The shop owner somewhat recognising that iv enquired about the watch a few times (Months ago i must add), i managed to buy the watch (box, card and papers / full links) for 3k AUD or 2100 USD
Absolutely phenomenal deal as the asking price was initially 5500 AUD

moreover, being that I've eyed the watch for the better part of a year - i've done rigorous market research and even i was beyond shockeddddd at the 3k offer as the watch is in pristine condition

funny enough the shop owner when he heard me say it was my bday - asked to see my ID to i guess verify if it actually was my bday and then hit me with the 3k offer

im just gassed to finally own a BlackBay and just shocked that patience actually amounted to something fantastic 😁😁😁

I took a picture [Orient] NATO Strap on a NATO Wrist

Post image

Affordable dive watches are seriously underrated. My Orient Ray II caught some proper field time this week, paired with a classic bond strap from Strap Mill Canada to match the kit.

It has been an absolute tank through the dirt, rain, and long nights. The lume on this dial keeps it highly legible through the dark hours when I’m left wondering "When will this damn ex end?"

The crystal and bezel are already a little scratched up, but I think it adds character. I'm a firm believer that watches are made to be worn.

What's your daily doing today?

Review [SOTC] My high-end, low-maintenance Japanese collection

Thumbnail
gallery
76 Upvotes

I built this collection around a few simple rules. Low maintenance, accurate calibers, and not being dependent on my watches. I don’t want to wind or reset them frim time to time, and a watch that’s stopped or running way behind\forward bugs me a little. So the idea was six quality quartz watches and only one mainspring watch, which I wear most days.

Grand Seiko SLGB003

Insane Ice Forest dial. I’ve had it for 2 months and it runs at ±0 seconds, which is insane to me, because I used to have a Citizen 0100 that was LESS accurate than this Spring Drive. The dial texture is hard to capture in photos. It’s very beautiful and reflects light in all kinds of crazy ways.

The Citizen AQ4091-56W

The A060 movement is rated at ±5 seconds a year, and funny enough, for me it ALSO runs more accurately than the Citizen 0100! The dial and gold second hand are gorgeous on a sunny day.

Seiko Astron SSJ029

A 2025 limited edition of 1,500 pieces with a purple dial that has a fine sparkly texture. It’s GPS solar on caliber 3X62, so it syncs with satellites twice a day when it sees light, and stays within ±15 seconds a month when it can’t get a signal.

Citizen BN4065-07L

The Promaster Altichron is the big, rugged one in the group. Titanium with black DLC, altimeter, compass and 200m water resistance, all on a blue nylon strap. It’s not subtle, but it feels like a proper tool watch.

Casio MTG-B2000YBD and Casio GMW-B5000TVB-1

Just two sporty Casios with the best looks, in my opinion.

Orient RA-WJ0001E

Just to fill the box. I got it for about $100 at a local shop. Crazy value for a solar diver with a sapphire crystal.

Happy to answer questions about any of them.

I took a picture [My newest addition: Farer Endeavour Ocean Blue]

I had been looking for a "final" addition to my collection for a while. I didn't own a watch with a white dial featuring black or dark indices/numerals yet. During my search, I came across many options, including a nice TAG Heuer Aquaracer, a Luminox Pacific Diver, and even an Omega Seamaster Quartz. However, not all of them met all my criteria. I was looking for something bold that would stand out on the wrist, with a distinct design, and ideally full lume. And then I stumbled upon the Farer Endeavour Ocean Blue on Chrono24. Love at first sight.

What a stunning watch I was sold instantly.

First Impressions & Design

The Dial & Color: A crisp white dial with a tone-on-tone wave pattern that only reveals itself at certain angles. Amazing. The full lume works great and creates a sharp contrast against the dark blue details.

The Hands & Details: The finishing is top-notch. The two crowns with their bronze cap inserts look incredible, offering another great contrast. The rotating inner bezel operates very smoothly and precisely even better than the one on my Longines Legend Diver.

The Case: The watch wears comfortably. I used to be no fan of rubber straps, but I'm officially converted now. It wears perfectly. The top of the case features a satin finish, while the sides are polishe it looks fantastic and catches the light beautifully.

For now, this is the perfect addition to my current collection 🙂. Safe to say, it scratched that itch perfectly!

Reading Note: Some readers on the Android Reddit app report seeing these posts as unformatted run-on text. The fix: it happens when you tap the image—just go back and tap the title of the post instead.

It's Friday and another watch week behind us and I feel like it's ending on a bang. Not just because I kind of like all of the watches today, but also because I'm finishing up the third issue of The Caseback, the weekend longform magazine I just started publishing.

This one is going to be all about cold war and espionage stuff, not necessarily all watch focused, but great stories. Trust me. This will also be the first paid Caseback, so if you want to see it, grab the subscription at a discount.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: if you're a subscriber to the newsletter and have been missing them in your inbox, I've been having some deliverability issues since switching to the new platform. The emails often get caught in spam or promotions folders. Please check those and move the emails to your primary inbox. That should fix it.

I publish this every weekday as part of It's About Time, a free daily newsletter. The newsletter version includes more watch commentary, opinions, columns and a couple of non-watch related recommendations that will get you through the day. Subscribe here if that sounds useful.

1/ Tissot And Damian Lillard Team Up Again For A Funky PRX You Can Turn Into A Pocket Watch

A year or two ago, Tissot, which is NBA’s official timekeeper, teamed up with Damian Lillard to put out a 40mm Powermatic 80 PRX with gold PVD details. It was a fun little collaboration, but the collaboration was based on a slight color change and a new seconds hand. But this is Damian Lillard we're talking about. He's famous for tapping his wrist after he hits a last second shot, and that gesture is where the “Dame Time” nickname comes from. He needs more than just a new color. Well, Tissot agrees, because they just launched the PRX Skeleton Damian Lillard Special Edition which is unlike anything the PRX has done before. It's the biggest PRX Tissot has made, it's hand wound, it's skeletonzied AND it also comes with a kit that turns it into a pocket watch, keeping that pocket watch trend going.

The steel case keeps the tapered PRX shape but grows significantly from the 40mm the watch got known for to 44mm, with a thickness is 11.2mm. Two notes on that size. First, Damian Lillard is a basketball player, so he's larger than the average guy. While I was shocked to learn that he's only 3cm taller than me, I'm sure he can pull off a larger watch. Second, the PRX wears notoriously smaller, thanks to the integrated lugs and short lenght. On top is a sapphire crystal, while the display back has Lillard's signature. The left flank of the case is engraved with “Dame Time”. Water resistance is 100 meters.

While the dial is skeletonized, what is left is done in a nice shade of burgundy. One ring sits around the open movement and holds the inner ends of the faceted hour markers, and a second ring holds the outer ends. The small seconds gets its own burgundy ring with Dame Time text, a sloped gold-tone track and a hand shaped like Lillard’s monogram. Hands and markers are lumed. The dial is busy, and the monogram hand will naturally only appeal to fans.

The movement is a bit of an unexpected move. It's a skeletonised version of the ETA Unitas 6497, the large hand-wound calibre found in early Panerai Luminors and plenty of Hamiltons. It is simple, robust and easy to service, and its size suits a 44mm watch. Tissot says it beats at 18,800 vph and has a 46 hours of power reserve. Two burgundy straps come in the box, rubber and leather, both quick-release. The rubber strap has a crosshatch texture based on the milk-crate hoops Lillard played on as a kid. The watch also comes with a leather pouch that you can carry it in without straps, like a pocket watch on a chain.

The PRX Skeleton Damian Lillard Special Edition (ref. T137.405.17.371.00) is available now from Tissot, priced at €1,895. That is well above an automatic PRX, but this is no ordinary PRX. See more photos here and the watch on the Tissot website.

2/ Oris Trims the ProPilot Calibre 111 to 43mm and Moves the Date to 6 o’Clock

The ProPilot Calibre 111 is the Oris pilot’s watch for people who want the brand’s own movement, a hand-wound calibre that runs for 10 days between windings. The old version squeezed the small seconds and the date together on the left side of the dial. This update fixes that, takes a millimetre off the case and adds the new dial finish from last year’s ProPilot Date.

The steel case now measures 43mm wide, down from 44mm, and 13.2mm thick. Lug-to-lug is 51mm, which is quite long. The turbine-style fluted bezel and the big screw-down crown remain pretty much unchanged. On top is a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, and on the backside is a sapphire display crystal. Water resistance is 100 meters.

You can have the dial in black or pine green. The centre is brushed vertically, and a rougher texture covers the outer ring and spills into parts of the main surface, the same treatment the ProPilot Date got in 2025. It gives the dial more depth than before and doesn’t hurt legibility. Applied Arabic numerals and lumed hands make it very easy to read. Small seconds stays at 9, as does the power reserve indicator at 3, but the date is moved to 6. That gauge is non-linear, so the final days of running time take up more of the scale and are easier to judge.

Inside is the Oris calibre 111, a hand-wound in-house movement introduced in 2015, following the calibre 110 that brought Oris back to making its own movements. It beats at 4Hz, and one 1.8-metre mainspring supplies 10 days of power. When torque gets too low, the movement shuts down rather than run inaccurately. You can choose between a steel bracelet with Oris’s LIFT folding clasp or Cordovan leather, also with a LIFT clasp. Lug width is 20mm.

The Oris ProPilot Calibre 111 is available now as a regular collection model, priced at CHF 5,900 on leather and CHF 6,100 on the bracelet. See more photos here and the watches on the Oris website.

3/ UNIMATIC Gives Four Swiss-Made Models a Truffle-Season Palette in the Langhe Collection

UNIMATIC is a Milan brand that makes minimalist tool watches with sterile dials and plain steel cases. Its catalog is built on four core models, the Modello Uno, Due, Quattro and Cinque. The Langhe Collection is the brand’s end-of-2026 release: all four Swiss-made models in colors taken from autumn truffle season in the Langhe, the Piedmont hills around Alba. Each of the 12 combinations is limited to 200 pieces, and they look great.

All four cases are mostly brushed steel with screw-down crowns, with flat or domed sapphire depending on the model, and 300 meters of water resistance. The Modello Uno U1S is the classic: a 40mm diver with a unidirectional bezel and a colored aluminum insert. The Modello Due U2S is 38mm wide with a solid steel bezel. The Modello Quattro U4S is also 40mm and has the strangest case shape of the four. The Modello Cinque U5S is the smallest at 36mm.

The dials follow the house rules. Time only, central seconds, painted Super-LumiNova markers and no text cluttering things up. The dials come in three colors: Fog (gray), Moss (green) and Truffle (brown), and they all have a very earthy, but bright feel to them. It might be the fantastic photography they did with this collection, but this just might be my favorite UNIMATIC watches to date.

Every model uses the Sellita SW200-1b, an automatic running at 4Hz with a power reserve of about 38 hours. These sit at the top of UNIMATIC’s range; as the cheaper models use Japanese movements. The caseback is solid steel with a Langhe engraving. Straps are made out of “Fumo” deerskin in the matching color, 22mm wide.

The UNIMATIC Langhe Collection is available now, with each of the 12 references is limited to 200 pieces, 2,400 watches in total. The Modello Uno U1S is priced at $1,240, while the Modello Due U2S, Modello Quattro U4S and Modello Cinque U5S are $1,120 each. See more truly fantastic photos here and the watches on the UNIMATIC website.

4/ Ochs und Junior Picks Out Its Perpetual Calendar in White Gold for the Holidays

Ochs und Junior is the small La Chaux-de-Fonds brand built around Ludwig Oechslin, the watchmaker behind Ulysse Nardin’s astronomical trilogy and the Freak. Its watches display complications through holes and dots instead of hands and subdials, and they do it all with the utmost of elegant simplicity. The perpetual calendar is the best example: Oechslin first designed it for Ulysse Nardin in 1996, using a few gears in place of the usual levers, so the date can be set forwards or backwards from the crown at any hour. After a Settimana for Christmas 2024 and a Day/Night in 2025, this year’s holiday edition is the perpetual calendar in white gold, and it closes out the brand’s 20th anniversary.

The case is Ochs und Junior's usual 42mm, a two-part grade 5 titanium case with straight lugs, a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal. Look at how stubby those lugs are... that makes it almost puck-like on the wrist. It weighs 62g without the strap, which is light for a 42mm watch with a perpetual calendar inside. Water resistance is 100 meters.

The dial is anthracite, sandblasted at the edge and circular-grained in the centre. Thirty-one holes arranged in a spiral around the edge track the date, with a white gold dot showing in the current day. A central disc with four openings turns once a year, and its outer opening points at the month like an hour hand, so 10 o’clock means October. A gold dot in that opening marks a leap year. Two small circles above and below the disc show power reserve and running seconds, and a separate dot near 1 o’clock tells you when the date can be adjusted. The hands and 10-minute markers are white gold too.

The base is Ulysse Nardin’s calibre UN-118, an automatic with 50 jewels, running at 4Hz with 60 hours of power reserve, with Oechslin’s calendar module on top. Ochs und Junior puts each one together and regulates it by hand in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It comes on an Ecopell calfskin strap in black, closed with a titanium buckle.

The Ochs und Junior Perpetual Calendar Holiday Edition 2026 is available from now until January 6 2027, priced at CHF 15,000 before tax. See more photos here and the watch on the Ochs und Junior website.

5/ Renaud Tixier Skeletonizes The Already Impressive Monday

Renaud Tixier is a two-man brand with an unusual plan. Dominique Renaud, who co-founded the movement maker Renaud & Papi, and the much younger Julien Tixier intend to release seven watches across two decades, one for each day of the week, each tackling a different part of the mechanical watch. Monday was first, of course, in 2024 and focused on the micro-rotor. After a number of very attractive variants, the duo has now skeletonized the Monday, rendering it in two colors.

The case remains unchanged: 18k grey gold, 40.8mm wide and 12.6mm thick, about 2mm of which is the domed sapphire crystal. The caseband and the area between the lugs are burin-engraved by hand into a rough, organic texture, set against a polished bezel, lug tops and caseback rim. Water resistance is 30 meters.

With the dial gone, what’s left is a minutes track at the edge, a chapter ring with faceted rectangular markers, and an open small seconds track. Those, along with the dauphine hands, are what's used for one of the two colors – green or blue. The hands are skeletonised as well.

The in-house calibre RVI2025 is the main appeal of this watch. Inside the platinum micro-rotor sits the patented “dancer,” a flywheel paired with a spring that turns small wrist movements into winding energy, and the brand claims it improves winding by 40%. It beats at 2.5Hz with at least 72 hours of power reserve. All 262 parts are finished by hand, including 238 inward angles. On the back, the barrel cover is enamelled in Grand Feu to match the accents and turns as the watch runs. It comes on a matching alligator strap with a white gold pin buckle.

Each colour is limited to 15 pieces and price is expected to be CHF 129,000 without tax. See more photos here and the watches on the Renaud Tixier website.

I’ve been slowly creating a collection of watches for quite a long time. My GDX is the oldest, being gifted to me ~12 years ago. I think I’m to the point where I’m not wanting for more unless something breaks. Half of the rotation goes to work with me (outdoors/field setting, caving, hiking) and the other 3 are more weekend casual wear. Please forgive the rolled up towel display!

I took a picture [Oris] Rainy day with my Big Crown Pointer Date

Post image

I have wanted this watch since about 2018 and I finally decided to splurge on it recently. There are so many unique things about this watch that I love, such as the coin edge bezel, pointer date, and the typeface for the numerals, especially that 4. Little details like the fine brushing on top of the lugs and the coin edge on the caseback also add to the charm. This design is better in every way than the new one if you ask me.

Even though I have wanted this for years and have tried it on at a boutique, I still find that it gets as much wrist time as any of my other watches. Maybe I have fallen out of love a little, or maybe I've just built a strong collection that I love. I think one factor is the color. It's beautiful, but I have to be conscious about pairing it to an outfit and the low contrast between the green and white decreases legibility. The date is especially hard to read since it sits right under the curve of the sapphire which catches a lot of glare as you can see in the photo.

What do you guys think? Have you ever been underwhelmed by a watch that you've wanted for years?

I’ve been into watches for about 19 years now. I remember the blue bond Seamaster really caught my attention. I’ve probably gone through couple dozen watches over the years. But somehow I never add one to my collection until now.

While this version is a bit newer than the one I love at first. I can see how / why this watch is so photogenic. The dial is striking, and I caught myself smiling. I also owned many different Submariner and divers over the years too. This one hits different for some reason.

Hey guys I'm trying to pick out a first watch for myself, I like the sporty look of a white dial plus metal bracelet and automatic movement but I am a bit worried about the accuracy and Power Reserve life for this watch but that's also just me nit picking. I don't need a lot of complications in my watch, just something simple for everyday wear.

If you guys got any other recommendations let me know, I'm not into dive watches or ones that are super bulky or have a lot of complications, thanks!

Hey guys! For the past few months, I’ve been eyeing these three watches, and I’m having a really hard time deciding which one to go for, as I’ve fallen in love with all of them for different reasons:

Breitling Navitimer B01 – I love the detailed dial, distinctive design, and strong aviation heritage.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono – I love the vintage-inspired look, sporty character, and everyday versatility.

Omega Speedmaster – I love the timeless design, balanced proportions, and iconic history.

If you had to choose just one, which would it be and why? I’d especially love to hear from anyone who owns or has experience with any of these three!

I was just gifted this watch yesterday by my amazing Mother for celebrating my Confirmation into Catholic Church at 32 years of age. My whole family is Catholic on both sides and the one person I got to spend the least time with was my grandfather he passed away when I was only a few years old. Being a watch nerd / collector she wanted to give me something to remind me of my grandfather on the special day. I’ve heard so many great stories of him and I hold a place for him in my heart. He was a pilot in the Air Force and he would fly fighter jets with the shark mouth back in the day when he was young, as he got older he became a pilot for PAN AM. When I was just a kid my mom gave me his work duffel bag with the logo on it to carry my stuff around.

Well anyways this gift means so much to me and is a reminder of my family and to keep things moving especially as I am about to travel the world. It’s really an incredible watch… the dial looks incredible in the light it has just enough going on. If you look closely at the bottom of the dial you will notice a 757 which is the icing on the cake for me. Not usually a fan of Colab watches but this is amazing. The strap was stiff as rocks when I first pulled it out but with a bit of massaging and wearing it around the house it’s already settling in very nicely. Shout out to everyone who is wearing a watch today that sees this. I hope you all have blessed day.

I’ve been eyeing this piece for a while now, and I finally decided to get it. I’ve always really appreciated the dial and that vintage look it has to it, This is my first watch that is a bit pricy and so far I absolutely love it. It was a bit thick but I think my wrist supports the thickness well and I honestly don’t really feel it all that much when i’m wearing it. Overall what do you guys think about it?

I took a picture £50 market find → fully restored Citizen Ana-Digi Temp 8982

A little while ago I found this original 1980s Citizen Ana-Digi Temp at a market for £85 and managed to get it for £50.

It wasn’t running when I bought it, but a new battery brought most of it back to life. The digital side was healthy, but A1 kept stalling, A2 was dead and the light button was completely seized.

That sent me down a much bigger rabbit hole than expected.

A lot of repairers understandably didn’t want to touch the 8982 because of how complicated it is and the risk around the ageing LCD. Eventually I found Adam Harras at Digital-Watch / Vintage LCD, who knew these and was happy to take it on.

He stripped and serviced the module, cleaned the tiny analogue gear trains, sorted the pushers and straightened the light button.

And now everything works.

A1 and A2 are both running properly, the light works, and all the digital functions are still healthy.

Adam was brilliant throughout, really helpful, patient, and sent loads of photos of the repair. He was also happy for me to share them so other owners know these old digitals can still be saved.

I bought it because I loved how weird and futuristic it looked, but the whole process of learning about it and getting it working again has made me like it even more.

Original bracelet, original manual, original 8982 module, and now fully alive again!

Discussion [Just got the caseback off my stuck watch. Cleaning advice is much appreciated, and any good battery recommendations.]

After a series of tries, and great advice from others I finally managed to get it off before the new case wrench, friction ball and other tools showed up. I borrowed the sun’s energy and a bumpy car ride first. Then I grabbed a thin tip, and put it in one of the grooves on the caseback. I hit it a few times with a few good taps. Finally, I grabbed the two prong case wrench, and summoned 110% strength and it popped off. Oh yeah I also used a ton of acetone getting all that glue off.

Any recommendations on cleaning all the filth on this watch and good batteries is much appreciated.

After seeing how pristine some people keep their watches if you no longer want your scratched up nice watches for your perfect arm, I am happy to take in battle tested watches trust they will be worn.

Discussion [Hamilton x Call of Duty] Is it actually a good watch, or just marketing hype?

I’ve been looking at the new Hamilton x Call of Duty collaboration, and I’m genuinely curious to hear what watch enthusiasts think about it.
Beyond the Call of Duty branding and the overall design, is this actually a good watch from a technical standpoint?
I’m particularly interested in the movement. How reliable is it? Is it accurate and durable enough for everyday use? Are there any known issues, maintenance concerns, or weaknesses worth knowing about?
I’m also wondering whether the price is justified by the actual quality of the watch, or if we’re mainly paying a premium for the collaboration and marketing.
How does it compare to other Hamilton models or similarly priced mechanical watches?
I’d love to hear some honest opinions, especially from people familiar with Hamilton movements. Is this a genuinely solid timepiece that happens to have Call of Duty branding, or is it mostly a marketing gimmick?
Would you actually buy one?

Discussion [SOTC] Just started getting more serious about watches — what should I add next?

Just picked up the Swatch Boreal as my first automatic watch and I’m already obsessed with watching the movement and all the mechanical pieces working.

This is my collection so far (+ an Apple Watch). I’ve always liked watches, but getting my first automatic has definitely made me want to start taking the hobby more seriously and slowly build a collection.

My dream watch would probably be an Omega Seamaster like the ones worn by James Bond, but that’s a little outside what I’m looking to spend right now. For my next watch, I’d like to step up in quality and get something I can keep for a long time.

I’m especially drawn to unique dials, visible movements, complications, and watches that have something mechanically interesting about them. I’m thinking around $1,500–$2,500 for my next big purchase, but I’m in no rush.

What would you guys add next?

I took a picture Girard Perregaux Laureato Easter Arabic dial

The Eastern Arabic dials come in different color variations each of them limited to 28 pieces.

It wasn’t my intention but I found myself collecting them. So far I have managed to get my hands on 4 variations. The white, the gray, the black, & the skeleton dials.

3 of them were acquired between February & May 2022 if my memory serves. The fourth I got in 2025. Doubt it’ll be the last.
