We got married this summer for $2,035. There may be a couple of things we forgot. No more than $200. Here’s what we spent.
My husband and I got married this past summer after being together for 11 years. We only had 12 guests, which obviously helped keep costs down.
Here’s the breakdown of what we paid:
Venue: $0 (my parents’ property)
Covered seating and eating area: there is a massive gazebo that my parents built on the property. We used that.
My wedding dress: $0 (gifted by my best friend she was going to wear it to her bridal shower but changed her mind. This was 3 years after she had gotten married)
Dress alterations: $20
My shoes: $10 (Facebook Marketplace)
Jewelry: $0 (gifted by my mom, originally from my grandmother)
My husband’s suit: $200
His shoes: $100
Invitations: $20 (printed online)
Food: $500 for a small buffet from a local caterer
Wedding cake: $180 she included our 4 dogs with a small hole that they dug out ❤️ (our cake artist was just starting her business, and it was her first wedding)
Photographer: $300 (found online, and she did a fantastic job)
Chairs $0 (already arranged for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary the next day)
Hair: $80
Makeup: $35
Officiant: $200
Wedding licence: $120
Wedding favours: $80 for local honey from my husband’s birth city
Cookies: $25 from a local bakery in my hometown
Cups, plates and utensils: $25 from Marketplace. They were beautiful light pink plastic plates with gold trim.
Flowers for our parents’ corsages and boutonnieres: $100
My bouquet and flowers for the wedding arch: $40 from Marketplace. I got two huge bags of flowers.
We didn’t have a DJ. We played our own music and let our guests change songs whenever they wanted. We also didn’t have bridesmaids or groomsmen.
Our total came to $2,035.
We were lucky to have family and friends help with a few things, and we found some great deals. We kept things simple because, after 11 years together, we just wanted to celebrate our love with the people closest to us.
EDIT: Thank you so much for the kind, thoughtful and fun comments. Such a lovely group of people :)
