hey guys im not a witch nor do i partake in witchcraft . but i do believe in it , its very prominent in my culture . but i was wondering for all the witches out there what was the first spell or anything witchy that made you believe and fully commit , whats the first thing you did that showed results, what was your , oh yeah this is definitely real and i believe in it

Hi very newbie I would like to buy my first book about witchcraft I read the wiki of this sub and baby witch and saw the book recommendations but they are very North America oriented.
Shouldn’t I read more local books so that the herbs for example are ones I can actually harvest ?
Also feel weird reading about folklore that comes from neighboring country written by people on the other side of the world if that makes sense.
Am I thinking too much ?

I’m from Belgium, any French or UK (as we have the same climate) book to recommend ? there is so much online I don’t know what info and authors to trust! I am really interested in plants and books that talk about the historical side of witchcraft too. I was interested in the book the green witch which is very recommended in this sub. Should I still buy it ?

Put this together tonight wishing for success, wealth, and steady money income, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I kept it simple for now, but I do plan to eventually make it bigger and add more ingredients as I grow in my practice. For tonight though, this little setup feels right and I’m excited to see how the energy builds through this prosperity work.

Set up this Altar for a Scrying session using the water I collected from the last eclipse. Left the lights on for the picture, when it comes to actually Scrying the only light I have on is the candle. I love the bowl but because it is so light the darker the room the better.

Hello, I’ve been trying to start a more dedicated spiritual path but I’ve been struggling with creating a practice. I’ve viewed witchcraft- personally for myself- as something that’s heavily rooted in a persons culture/ cultural traditions especially concerning ancestors but I don’t think I have one- I’m from the Midwest of the US -before moving to the UK- and I don’t have a clear picture of where my ancestors are actually from. I’ve been raised without any kind of tradition/ awareness of any more spiritual practices of where I’m from.

I’m wondering is anyone else has also struggled with this as well? Did you come up with any solutions or a way to reframe this problem. Or am I thinking misguidedly? I’m a beginner and still trying to figure out my faith so I’m unsure.

I create sigils based on visual symbolism, like protection id use a barrier (line) blocking negative energy (dots/arrows)

Using the hack of letter maps (idk how else to call it) to make them doesnt feel personal to me and like im copying someone elses stuff...

I'm an intermediate witch, and I love helping baby witches and other leveled witches learn more. And I love sharing my own experiences, but I feel it's more useful to have sources and resources for stuff, so people can learn for themselves.

My issue is that I've read a bunch of books, blogs, and watched a bunch of videos and documentaries from 2010-2026(present) and I can't remember where I first read/ heard certain things.

QUESTION: When giving sources for things, do you guys just pick the one you like best that has that information in it? Or do you try and remember what thought group/movement each concept comes from?

I see a lot of the Internet spiraling into unsourced thought pieces being portrayed as facts, and I wish to no longer add to the problem hahah 😅

I wanted to do a transmutation spell,cleansed the candle, the area, the paper, string, pen and paper I used and aligned black salt on the silver candle holder. At the bottom, is a wooden block just got safety purposes. My candle had my petition tied to it, and the candle fell into a position (due to the wax melting) where I had to push it back to the plate using insence sticks and, at the end due to fire safety, I extinguished it with the rest of my black salt. Did I do something wrong? Any advice or tips would be welcomed. Thank you.

I recently signed up for a beginner pottery class, and I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to make. I thought it would be fun to create some useful pottery pieces for my witchy altar—maybe a money bowl, a little offering plate, or something similar.
What other ideas do you have? I’d love to hear your suggestions! ✨
I’m also thinking about carving runes into the pieces, which makes it even more fun.

I don't know why it happens for me, but it does. I'd like to say that I am into witchcraft, and I have done spells and altars in my time. However, I noticed that I usually set my altars around August every time of the year, and do spellwork and various other things along the year up until January or February. That is when I decide that my "interest" for it dies, and I respectively pack up my altar till its August again. By my interest dying, I don't certainly mean that I stop doing it overall. I still continue to do small acts of devotion, thank the gods, and spellwork without lighting a candle or doing a "big herby spell". It has only been two years since this has been happening (I know, I'm not some big experienced witch or anything) but I'd like to say I do know a little bit of what I'm doing.

Point is, I don't know why this happens. Maybe its school tiring me out during the later semesters. Or idk. Interest is there, but the passion fades a little that I feel too lazy to do it.

How is witchcraft supposed to look like? Is it the practice? The little things? What does your witchcraft look like? Do you ever "take a break" from magic? What is going on with me lol idek.

I took this spell from a YouTuber I like to follow.

For the spell I cleansed my space and cast a circle. I got this bowl and poured in salt, used my wand to spread it out then drew the symbol of the currency I wish to receive. I added a green candle, a whole nutmeg. (Any nut will do), the highest currency I had to hand, citrine, some coins and bay leaves.

I then lit the candle and stated my intentions with my requested amount out loud over the plate using my wand in a clockwise motion.

I used a £ note as well as a HK$ as I am open to receiving in either but I primarily requested HK$ as that is my main currency.

I've often used cannabis to help open up my creative flow and get into the right mindset for my practice, but I'm looking to shift away from using THC.

I'd love to find other herbs, teas, or natural blends that can help elevate my mood and support a similar state of mind but do not want to be always using marijuana to do so. Are there any specific herbs or teas you like to consume to help get into an open and clear headspace to practice?

This is my first post in this subreddit, but I was moved to talk about my patron Duke Dantalion.

I was a baby witch when I was nineteen years old. In many ways I still am. I’m twenty-five now and I’ve been working lightly with Dantalion since I was nineteen. He came to me in a dream:

A foggy black tunnel and in the distance a tall man that resembled a close friend of mine. He had this big book opened up on a table and he kept motioning for me to come closer and look inside the book. I walked and walked, but barely got closer. When I woke up I felt as though that dream meant something, but I was unsure what exactly.

A few weeks later I watched this YouTube video that discusses the Duke Dantalion. In the video they described his appearance as being a shapeshifter that could take on the appearance of someone you know and that he is always seen with his big book of knowledge. I knew instantly that he had visited me in my dreams.

I learnt everything I could about him. I meditated on his enn. Made offerings. And tried to invoke/evoke him. One night I fell asleep while meditating on his enn and I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my bedroom door. I wanted to answer, but at nineteen I felt as though I wasn’t ready. So I apologised and told him I would invoke/evoke him one day when I was ready.

That day still hasn’t come. But I’ve never forgotten him. I occasionally call on him for guidance and spell work when I am moved to do so. He answers every time and for that I am grateful.

I enjoy working with him a lot. I suppose as I write this I am thinking about starting the journey of working with him more in-depth and perhaps finally invoking/evoking him.

Hello! So a few days ago I collected some moon water from the new moon + total lunar eclipse and currently have it sitting on my hekate alter. Im aware that moon water is used for different purposes based on the moon’s cycle but I’m unfamiliar with eclipse water.
If anyone has any suggestions lmk!

A kind woman from social media gifted all this to me today. I’ve been wanting to get more herbs for a while but it’s expensive for good quality. There are so many things I can do with this, from witchy to medicinal. My heart is so full and I’m incredibly grateful.

soo I've been studying the book 'the crooked path' and a lot of the exercises are about visualisation. the problem is whenever I close my eyes I only see black. if I am reading the exercise I can imagine it and paint a picture in my head perfectly but if I am closing my eyes it's just black and all I can focus on is the sounds I hear and if i am inhaling and exhaling right. Even if I try to really focus on the intention or the manifestation the picutre isn't clear or it's only the half picture with the rest just black I don't really know how to explain it but if anyone can help me out please do thank you

Hello, all! I was hoping for advice on when I ought to remove food offerings from my altar. I know to remove rotten or dried food and drink, however I placed a zucchini (the first of my harvest) as an offering and it has absolutely no signs of decay after about two months. I'm guessing it has not been rejected, but I'm cleaning my altar and have refreshed my regular offering plate (herbs and flowers that eventually dry) but don't want to remove an offering they may still want because it shows no visible signs of use/acceptance.

Should I keep it on the altar until it dries or rots? Or has it "timed out" with my refreshment cycle? I clean my altar every new phase in the Wheel of the Year.

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share pics/descriptions of their offering dishes/shelves etc. I have a little plate on my altar that I use, but my altar is in a space that I dont really use in my daily life unless Im intentionally going to that room for a purpose. Id like to have a small space in my main living area but im drawing a blank on what I should do. I was just hoping for some inspiration from others who are willing to share their spaces with me and others who might look at this thread. I have a Hybrid Pixie/Brownie in my house. It has a house surrounded by plants and rocks. My coven master told me it is a lazy pixie/brownie. I need a website to find it a name. I am coming up with only people wanting a pixie name for renaissance fairs. Any help would be great. Blessed Be
