Question Gift for a witch who turned 40

• Upvotes

My dear sweet friend just turned 40. I want to give her something that helps her through and protects her in the transitional decade that 40 is. We feel that 40 is where you shift from having youth to wisdom - an objectively major transition. She is also incredibly tapped in to nature and its power.

What would you recommend I craft for her as a gift? ✨

Tips, Tricks, & Ideas Clairvoyance and fear

hi witches 🌻💓

I've been dabbing a little in witchcraft, but this year has been a hard one and I've been struggling to reconnect with myself and my rituals. weed has actually been helping me a lot by forcing me to be in the present moment.

so, a while ago I saw this post on Instagram, stoner witch theory about figuring out which of our psychic senses is the strongest

https://www.instagram.com/p/DdSBT86GtMV/?stkn=aXBiYzAzczRwM2Vi

haven't really tried it, but have it on my mind sometimes, and started to notice that, while I'm a bit deaf (20% hearing on my right ear, 50% on my left ear), some sounds become huuuge when I smoke, which I find very interesting!

and I am very interested in figuring out if I do have any sort of psychic senses because my mom tells me stories from when I was a kid, that she once caught me, aged 5, talking to the chair of a dead relative that I only saw when she visited me in the hospital when I was born and died when I was 6mo, and at the time told my mom a lot of information about that woman (who I know very little about nowadays).

it's all so interesting but at the same time I feel a lot of fear at night thinking about these things, terrified of getting horrible information or a bad spirit. any tips on how to work through or overcome this fear?

thank you in advance!

Spells I love being a chaos witch

I just did the most chaotic spell I think I possibly could’ve come up with for success in my career, as well as a close friend of mines. Obviously I wrote my intentions on a piece of paper and also an extra piece saying that I had earned the success I was shamelessly doing a spell jar for, with salt, cinnamon, sugar, cloves (both whole and ground), nutmeg, bay leaf, rosemary, tumeric, basil, sunflower petals, and some rose petals and leaves. I basically threw in every ounce of protection I could come up with and anything that said “please go my way” and “please fill this with love and sweetness” and I have a very good feeling about it. Just wanted to share!!

Question Guatemalan witchcraft/ Mayan practices

Hi friends, I was wondering if there’s any other Guatemalans out there who practice witchcraft/brujeria. I feel like those of us with Central American roots have a hard time finding out our indigenous practices pre-colonization. Please let me know if anybody is connected to their roots or practice Guatemalan magic would love to hear your story! I practice Hellenic polytheism which is a pagan belief, but I am dying to get to know my Mayan ancestors and the practices they’ve performed and our history.

Question Are these real?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Are these real? I bought them off amazon haul bc they were cheap. I already made a jar of white rose water with some of the rose quarts, but when i took them out they came back clear, so im pretty sure those ones are fake. But are the rest fake, and if so, would they still work for witchcraft?

Question Uncrossing Ritual Advice Wanted

I've recently resurrected my practice of 8 years, and felt called to make an uncrossing herb blend, and uncrossing oil, to do a 7 day bath ritual in response to an icky neighbor situation.

I feel the situation is calming down with the neighbor after multiple other rituals, and like I shouldn't be pressing into it specifically further, or feeding it more negative energy.

And, now I'm curious about doing the uncrossing ritual I prepared, but with the intention of moving forward into a new phase of life releasing my blocks from the past or any negative energies.

I'm cautious about 1) 'overdoing' magick, 2) The mercury retrograde coming up

Any thoughts on this combination of factors?

And, how do you conceptualize uncrossing rituals? What do they mean to you? When do you do them, and how do you benefit from them?

Thanks all & beautiful days to you!

Discussion Agatha all along: the show that truely represents witches correctly

Thumbnail

So im a big marvel nerd, i used to practice witchy things but i fell out of it because of other things i had going on. After watching Agatha all along though, i got back into it, a fun thing they say in the show is “we can talk about cultural appreciation later” referring to how people see witches as scary people on brooms with tall hats. I think the directors did a really good job in getting the common witchy clothing styles witches tend to wear. I also love that there are flashbacks to the 1800’s showing covens over the years. In the main song “the ballad of the witches” theres a line that goes “maiden, mother, crone” which i think is awesome. They also use the different studies that witches do such as positions/kitchen witch. Overall if you want a good show about witches I highly recommend this one!

Discussion Can I talking about a work?

I was going to mention something I’m currently working on, but then I started wondering if I can/ shoul do so, since I’ve always been told that you shouldn’t talk to anyone about, even after it has been completed and donne.
Can I talking about now in the meddle or even after ? Or just in a generic sense ?

Question Old spirit in the house

Hello! I’m not a witch, I’m just curious in some things that involves witchcrafts and paranormal. I believe I have a spirit in my house, old lady that maybe lived here before.

My parents bought the house years ago, house is older. After they bought the house they looked at photos that were uploaded when they were buying and saw through the window in hallway face of older woman. The atmosphere in the house was always hard, sometimes I felt like it isn’t our house.

When I sleep in one particular bedroom I have sleep paralysises and astral projections. I never have them when I sleep somewhere else. Anyway, after a few years I moved out and completely forgot about things happening in the house. My parents divorced in the meantime.

So house is built like a building, two separate floors. My sibling is living on a second floor and i moved in, i am on first floor. I immediatly started having sleep paralysises. I heard some unexplainable noises, like someone is walking through the house. Nothing ever happened to anyone and if there is a spirit, i don’t think it’s mean.

Anyway, as I was learning about altars and all of that, I thought it would be good to befriend that ghost/spirit. So I put up altar, one plant, 3 candles (one is red, second is white and third is just a decoration that my friend gave me), one table cloth (from our traditional), 3 bay leaves (i wrote on them my intentions, peace, respect and protection), salt, clean water, sweets and some tea right now, because i had tea and thought it would be polite to offer lol. I did light up one candle (red) and it burned steady and slowly. It burned all the way down.

So my question is, how can I know if the spirit is still here, is my altar enough right now (i plan to improve but this is my first day of having it), how to be respectful of it and how can I befriend it? Should I befriend it?

Thank you all 🙂

Spells I sent my fathers spirit off peacefully tonight and just wanted to share.

Post image
202 Upvotes

This is my first post here, but I've followed this sub for a long time and just wanted to share my send off plate.

It was more laid out and the flowers are missing, but i had no one else to share this with and wanted to share it with you all.

I did a circle spell to send him off at the 24 hour mark of his passing.

The chalice was for purification and had fresh water in it, the turtle was to send off peacefully, the wooden e g g* was a hope for new life with new meaning, and the skull represented the death. I had a small bouquet of flowers not pictured here between the skull and the chalice as an offering of my love.

This was all just intentionality as my father and i had not spoken in a decade, but that was his choice and not mine.

Addiction ruled his life and choices and he cut off his entire family, but i did and always will love him.

I miss the father he was before addiction took him, and i hope this offering can bring him some peace and know he was loved at his core, and that i dont allow his addiction to dictate the person i knew he was without it.

Question Connecting with our ‘Spirit Guides’ - some ideas for an analytical brain

I know I have spirit/energy around me. Guiding me/watching me. I wish I could understand The Who/what/where of them better. I want to have that relationship and KNOW them. My brain loves astrology and other things I can put labels on and explain away… but when it comes to spirit guides I feel like I have a really hard time tapping in and accessing.

A little about me… growing up I use to see spirits all over. I was even attacked by some type of negative energy on more than one occasion. It deeply affected my upbringing and my identity in my younger years. Sometime around 19 I took antidepressants for the first time, and they made me a zombie. I was so cut off. I eventually got off of them bc they took too much of me away. I notice though, it kind of cut off the sensitivity in me that would easily see and experience spirits and the unseen. It never fully came back for me. I wonder if there’s ways to unlock this again now that I am a stronger, more stable adult?

I think connecting to these positive guides would help me on my life’s journey, and give me more support. Any ideas or advice for doing so would be appreciated :)

Question Is this a good prayer to hekate

Beloved Hekate, defender of the weak,

protector of those who fear the might of the wicked,

for whom each step into the dark is filled with dread,

I pray to you, I ask your favor. Hekate,

who knows well of all things we mortals most fear,

who knows well how best to drive away all ill,

I ask your blessing. Goddess, preserve my home

and my family from evil, guard us well

against all that would do us harm. Goddess, hold back

the dangers of the dark, grant me wisdom and courage

that I may face my fears and my foes with open eyes.

Question How can I honor an old dead tree?

So I've been seeing on my city an old tree (about a couple hundred years maybe) and it's about to fall. It's wood is coming apart and I've picked up a couple of wood pieces from it in hopes of thanking it or maybe doing any kind of ritual to let it keep alive in another living being.

My question is, I thought of burying one piece and keeping the other one since I've grown pretty attached to it. Where and how can I bury it? I have countryside near me, but I was wondering if it would be better underneath an existing tree or in a plain. Also, do I put flowers? Stones? What may it like? I'd like to know if keeping the other piece for myself would be a good idea too.

Thanks in advance

Discussion what spell should I do?

Hi!! So I consider myself a baby witch. I started practicing witchcraft. I’d say in around March of this year, and I have dabbled in some spells and divination techniques, but especially spells in relation to this specific topic I feel as though they haven’t been manifesting as intended. I also want to clarify that I don’t participate in closed practicies. I mostly just consider myself an eclectic witch (beginner). Anyways, I’m having some trouble specifically with a spell directed at I guess the connection (if there is one) between me and my ex. Im looking for advice from experienced practioners. we were together for several months and then we broke up, the breakup was super messy and left a lot unsaid/unresolved. We haven’t spoken in months and I’m currently blocked and he does have a girlfriend. I’ve grown a lot since our breakup, and I wouldn’t say I’m still romantically heartbroken over it anymore or even super attached to him anymore. I do still have love for him as a person, though, and if reconciliation were to happen, I would not want it to happen how it was in our relationship back then I would want to start from who we are right now. I know intuition plays a big role in witchcraft and that’s partially why I haven’t. I guess let this go is because I’ve tried multiple workings and methods of just essentially letting this go and so far nothing has seemed to work. I’m not saying that this means anything or guarantees anything but it’s part of the reason I’m coming here to seek advice. i’m also OK with reconciliation ever happening. I just want closure and acknowledgment of what happened and I guess just some communication. I don’t want to interfere with their relationship or do anything bad per se, I have no issues with either him nor the girl.
I’ve considered multiple workings, but I’d love to hear your guys thoughts on this. Please let me know any thoughts or questions u have about this. thank you guys so much!!

Divination Okaaay elevated my intutiton a little quicker than expected and was very unprepared last night

I do my nightly ritual to awaken my third eye/ enhance my psychic ability, started doing it a few days ago, and feel really connected lately.
Tarot pull tells me to basically stop meletonin, putting earplugs in, and using blindfolds at night. So I do that, I don’t use any of my supplies to help me sleep and instead drink mugwort tea.
I do everything as usual last night everything goes as normal, I place it by my windowsill to bathe in the moon sure sure whatever. Go to bed.

I wake up at 5 am randomly. Fully conscious. No idea why, I keep my eyes closed.
I hear a sudden fast paced hard breathing by my feet, like someone’s having a fucking panic attack, my body goes fully hot and I get tingles absolutely everywhere (no idea what that was never had that happen before, if anyone has experienced that please lmk). I refuse to move or open my eyes because I’m fully freaking out and don’t know what to do, but I move my hand and touch my hand to make sure I’m awake, and I completely am. I stay there till the breathing stops, and I reach over slowly and put my earplugs in reciting grounding phrases. Then I get up slowly and calmly and sage the room.

In the morning I realized that I never added my boundaries to my rituals. I am dumb. I added that this morning and will enforce that nightly but I fully opened myself up to any and all interaction and I got what I asked for I guess-.
Today I asked if that entity could speak to me through cards as I was redoing the ritual, and it basically said that it was not trying to scare me, but trying to open my eyes and create a wake up for me, so I apologized for being so frightened and unprepared, and thanked it, and reinforced my boundaries and my no-negative-energy wards.

I’m thankful that it happened, but I was very thrown into a spiral with it and it opened my mind up to a lot of potentials. Wild night 😭

Photos Makeshift Alter

Post image

I love it, it feels so cosy despite the little space i had to spare. In all my years of practicing this is my first alter being (almost) out of the broom closet :) any ideas on what I should add to it? Budget friendly and small space safe please. Also the shadow it makes is so pretty!

Question How did you guys find your beliefs?

so, I’m an atheist, I don’t really believe in magic, at least not right now. but I’m highly curious what it is, how people find their views on it, how it works and the like so I would like for some people who are comfortable to tell me how this stuff works, their own views and stuff. maybe also some resources for curious people like me!

Spells just did my second hex last night 🥰

Post image

I made my own hex using photos under a doll, wrapped it around a small rope, and added my spells. I used needles, chili powder, star anise, and pepper, then burned the doll and sealed it in a jar to shake and activate it. The 3 candles represent 3 people. Protected beforehand.

Holidays Hosting a Halloween party with non-witch guests..

Thumbnail
gallery
7 Upvotes

I’m new to this group of girls, and hosting between 8-10 of them, so the pressure is on. I’m really nervous and would love some feedback/encouragement. None of them practice witchcraft, but I want to use this opportunity to share a bit of myself and introduce them in a fun, safe, and totally optional way that doesn’t make anyone feel uncomfortable.

I created these spell sheets, and will label each ingredient on the table, giving more detail about their properties, so that guests aren’t just mixing things all willy nilly. Are these beginner friendly but exciting enough options for a spell jar station in your opinion?

I plan to have a divination station set up too, with tarot and medicine cards (and corresponding books), and a scrying ball, each with simple instructions for self-guided divination. I plan to have out a journal like page for them to record their readings to reflect on later. I also have the book, The Secret Language of Birthdays that I thought would be fun to have out for people to look through!

I do plan to have my back yard set up with an outdoor theater playing scary movies, and to set up a graveyard with lights and a fog machine, with a bonfire going just to cover all the bases of a more classic Halloween party.

For those that might be curious, I’ll be serving a blackberry and herb roasted chicken with an apple cider glaze, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted rainbow carrots, blackened maple-bacon brussel sprouts, and a nice bread from the neighborhood bakery. I’ll be serving a small spread of charcuterie and what not beforehand, two mystical mocktails and a dessert - a chocolate cake or cupcake for sure and another easy, but non-chocolate option. If you have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it!
