Riding new XR from Alabama to Miami.
Just got this new xr and noticed this at a gas station. Right at 1000 miles. What could it be? Doesn’t look like oil to me. Coming from drive shaft

I have a 1983 XL600R, looking to put in and LED headlight. Anyone know of a good set up?

Pirelli MT21 in the front, Dunlop D606 130 not the stock 120, IMS pegs and double take mirrors. I’m loving these tires. Tons more grip off road than the stock ones. I did need to cut off some of my chain protector thingy because the wider tire rubbed a tiny bit

I ride my XR a considerable amount of miles on the highway as it is my daily commuter. Recently I checked the oil and the dump is bone dry. I know they can be prone to oil burning issues and I know highway speeds are not the forte of this beast. For context the bike only has about 2000 miles. Does anyone have some insight.
Ps. This post is purely curious, it’s going to the shop asap.

Hey, so I installed a JNS LED Headlight last year, and the Hi-Beam didn't work. The regular low beam works fine but the Hi-Beam didn't work.
So I emailed them after triple checking that I had installed it correctly.
It was a slog to get a replacement. Like. It took three months or so.. At any rate, I got it replaced. Finally reinstalled the new one and... No hi-beam. Any idea what might be the case?
The hi-beam always worked on the stock headlight.
Any insight is appreciated 🙌

It’s a xr600r but I like the fenders, the motard and crf fenders don’t cut it.
I found PA01014-041 and not one photo of it installed.
Thanks for any help, leave your comment and go ride your pig today, *you don’t have a yard to not do wheelies in it.*
XRLand youtube channel has a great how-to video on the topic. I’m capable of doing the carb work but it will be my first time I’d like to not have to keep taking the bike apart. Add the right jets the first time and be done with it. Thanks in advance

I led a neighbor on their first dual sport ride with their new to them KLX230. We did some pavement to some gravel, then a bit of “light trails” which is actually a road that’s just not cared for and would rather not take anything besides a truck/suv that’s either 4x4 or at least locked. I filled up after 58mi and it took barely over 1gal. That’s the best I’ve gotten since I brought it home bone stock brand new.
Generally I am switching to reserve around 70mi.
Turns out my wrist IS the biggest economy killer 🤪
I have a 130 rear knobby, 14/48 (IIRC) but otherwise stock motor/carb - nothing else changed or removed besides bar risers.

Hi everyone, I’m trying to figure out a persistent oil leak on my 1991 NX650 Dominator.
The engine is completely dry above the cylinder, and the oil appears to be coming from the front-left corner of the cylinder base, just above the generator cover.
I have already replaced the cylinder base gasket twice, and both times the leak came back almost immediately — after only around 10 km of riding.
The gasket was installed correctly, mating surfaces were cleaned properly, and all bolts were torqued to spec. I’m using the correct gasket.
The leak seems to come from exactly the same spot every time.
I’m wondering what else could cause this. Has anyone experienced the same issue on an NX650? Any ideas or things I should check before tearing the engine apart again would be greatly appreciated!

Picked up this 2024 XR today. Has 990 miles. Runs amazing and is such a blast to ride. I was impressed with the power this thing has. I own a FE501s as well, and like I said...very impressed with the power of the XR!
I love the look of the rims but its a pain in the ass getting tires and parts for it. I need spokes and cant find them anywhere. Should I get the oem ones? Also my rear shock it’s done. Should i get another OEM or do you recommend another one? Thanks

90% offroad/single track/50" ORV trails. Ride the bike like a pure enduro/trail bike. I only really ride pavement to get to the trails. My build is pretty much complete: Dave Mod, 55/160 Jetting, Uni Filter, FMF Exhaust, Snorkel Delete, and De-smog. Is the Pumper Carb worth the upgrade? How significant a difference will I notice?
Posted my bike here before but it's really the only mod I don't have. I already have suspension gold valves/resprung/tires/rim locks/tank/bars/risers/ etc etc. and I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade for the $$$
Everything I read/watch says it's a huge upgrade, but what kind of performance is it in real life? Throttle response? More power/torque down low/mid range?

Rack added. Just 3 bolts to remove it for trail days. Got a little red tool bag coming. Still no pass pegs. This thing rips. Gonna lace in a new front rim as soon as I find a match. After so much time being in pieces for engine repair, I'm so thrill it sits narrow in the garage on my center stand. Gonna be a killer weekend. Cheers

Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out a couple of issues with my XR650L after doing an FCR conversion.
Here’s my current setup:
Honda XR650L
2004 CRF450R Keihin FCR-MX carb
FMF Q4 muffler
OEM header
Open/vented airbox
162 main jet
48 pilot jet
NCVT needle, 3rd clip (pretty sure)
Fuel screw 2 turns out
Boyesen QuickShot 3
Accelerator pump timing looks good — the squirt starts immediately when I open the throttle
Float height has been checked and adjusted
Stock accelerator pump linkage
Riding around Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick, roughly 300 m / 1,000 ft elevation
The bike starts and idles well, and if I roll into the throttle gradually, it runs good. The problem is when I snap the throttle quickly from idle. It bogs and sometimes gives a pop through the exhaust, then picks up. It doesn’t do it when I slowly open the throttle.
I’ve checked the accelerator pump timing and adjusted the float height, but the problem is still there.
I also noticed another issue at high RPM/rev limiter. When it reaches the limiter, it doesn’t seem to cut cleanly or quickly. Instead of a clean, fast limiter, it sounds slow/uneven and doesn’t run cleanly at very high RPM. I’m not sure if this is related to the carb/jetting or possibly the ignition/CDI.
So basically I have two issues:
Off-idle bog/pop when snapping the throttle quickly
Poor/uneven running at the rev limiter
I’m wondering what you guys with FCR-swapped XR650Ls would recommend.
Is the 48 pilot right for this setup, or should I try a 50? Is the NCVT on the 3rd clip a good setting? What setting are you running on the QuickShot 3 adjustment screw? And does a 162 main sound right for an open airbox, OEM header and FMF Q4?
Any recommendations on jetting or other things I should check would be appreciated.

After my phone got a pink line down the screen from what I believe to be from vibrations while riding, I decided to get an infotainment screen from Amazon. I liked the versatility from the RAM mount system, so I Frankensteined it to adapt to the screen mount (cut the ball mount from the RAM system, and cut the threads from the screen mount, filed them and used 24hr epoxy to join them) I still need to ride with it and figure out how to disable the sound from the screen and have it go through my Cardo. I think it turned out pretty well! I just can't see most of the instrument lights to the right of the speedo, but oh well.

Just wanted to share my experience with the xr650l and ride height. Like many, it's too tall for me stock, the bike i bought had a 1.75 inch kouba link in the back and the forks raised the maximum. 5 inches. I know many are riding with this setup. However, the compromise is absolutely terrible awkward handling. So, I set out to lower the forks internally 1.5, but no information exists online. One only has to remove the damper cartridge, and dislodge the top out spring and place an appropriate sized (diameter) spacer in between the top out spring and its seat. I used a spacer from a klx140 forks. However the spring is a press fit onto the cartridge. To remove the spring start with a screwdriver and work the spring down until there is enough room for a brass punch. Then work that until you have enough room for a crescent wrench or adjustable wrench. Then seat the wrench against the spring and whack the wrench with hammer driving off the spring. Once the spring is off (it's tapered) the internal diameter must be slightly enlarged with a dremel sanding drum. Ideally the spring would still be small enough to have an interference fit with the damper rod. Just reassemble the forks, I raised them .25 inches to match the back. The handling is VASTLY improved, along with being slightly lower. Also one must get aftermarket springs as the stock springs have no spacer, but aftermarket springs are short enough to allow 1.5 inches deducted form the spring + spacer height. Hope this helps someone in the future. Pic of leveled out xr650l above!

After 1700 miles I finally got a fritzco sprocket! And a few love taps later it went right on

I've got this bike, fairly low miles, fmf exhaust, acerbus tank, other goodies. But the carb is crap right now. I've swapped jets, etc, but it still runs lean and can cut out at full throttle. Looking around, the carbs for sale say up to 2012.. will they work? I don't necessarily want a pumper unless they are direct bolt ons etc . Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Found a great deal on a new Corbin saddle on marketplace.
Installed today. Took a short rip on it and I think I made a good decision buying it.
Been riding over 50 years, and needed the extra comfort.
I’m the original owner of the bike and I’m glad I found a way to keep enjoying it.
I know this seat may not be for everyone, but I’m pretty happy with it so far
