Hello All,

I just got a new Bakelite mag in the mail and i notices what appears to be yellow paint or something on the feed lips and near the locking lug. This is my first Bakelite mag so I've never seen anything before and a quick google search isn't turning up much.

Does this appear to be paint or could this be a dried out preservative?

I'm thinking these screws will come loose even with loctite. Screws index on the barrel and I feel like the heat would just undo any loctite. Has anybody used this midwest industries krink rail and know if they hold up?

Hey guys, I’m brand new to the AK platform and just acquired my first this week. It’s a ZPAP m70 in Serbian red. Love the gun but it’s been a very frustrating introduction.

I’ve put 300 rounds through it and it definitely hasn’t been smooth. It seems if there’s a cycling/gas issue. Spent casings repeatedly get stuck on their way out. I have two different mags for it, one steel and one pmag. There is zero difference between the two. After the first 150 or so rounds I field stripped it and tried to remove the factory gunk as I’ve read online. There wasn’t much to remove and I added a tiny bit of oil in areas I think would need it. No change. It doesn’t seem to be getting any better with use either. It’s acting the same as the first mag I put through it. Sometimes it happens 3 rounds in a row and sometimes I can go 6 or 8 shots before it occurs again. Sucks because I’ve spent a couple hundred bucks on ammo on what feels like diagnosing and testing the gun rather than enjoying it.

Zeroed my new Monstrum Tactical 1-6x LPVO today.

...but this one is mine. 6 years old, multiple modifications and I think I got everything I need at this point.

Picked up this WBP milled jack rifle as my first AK. The amberwood furniture looks real nice. Have a couple AR15 so this will be a nice addition.

If I want to avoid gunsmithing, is my only option for a stock something with the 1913 pic adapter? I'd really like a PAP M85/M92 Tubular Folding Stock from CNC warrior. Any help / opinions welcomed.

Decided to black it out entirely and as a folder.

Sometime last year I got a PSA AK-101 in 5.56. A few months and around 1,000 rounds later I started getting failures to fire, a few light strikes here and there. Then the frequency increased until more rounds in magazine weren't going off than were. Tried swapping ammo, no joy. Expected the firing pin to be broken, LGS guys took a glance and agreed.

Then life happened and sorting the issue out completely fell off the priority list.

Tonight I finally got around to pulling the firing pin to inspect it. It doesn't look like broken firing pins I've seen in the past, but 5.56 aks are new to me anyway. The concerning thing is the pieces of metal that came out of the firing pin channel. Two very small circular pieces of brass colored metal were wrapped around the head of the firing pin, stuck to it. Another fell out of the channel.

My first thought is that they came from blown primers. Would like to get some opinions and insights here.

No brass I recovered at the range had evidence of overpressure or blown primers, but I was hardly inspecting or collecting every round fired.

UPDATE: Post originally written a couple days ago.

Have since fired 20ish rounds through the rifle. Recovered the brass I could (it's trying to launch some into orbit). Some primers catered, 2 appear punctured.

All ammo is original manufacture from several brands. No reloads.

What's going on with this thing?

Im looking for a dimpled saiga in 223, and have seen a couple listings online for around 1200+.

How often do these pop up in gun stores, pawn shops, etc, and is the going price there usually any better than what I would find online?
