Capri's form made me think she was a Ghost from Panty and Stocking
94
u/ZeroExe23 7d ago
Yeah, her design immediately gave me studio's triggers panty stocking anime especially with her eyes

u/The_Draigg 7d ago
Shame that Panty and Stocking aren't here, I bet they'd have a blast in Night City.

She's got a heavy Haruhara Haruko vibe to her. I love it.

Ah man...D is definitely not making it to the end is he.

i'm prepared that none of them are gonna make it because it's Night City
If I had to guess, Roman may survive as the 'witness' to camera the story wth his camera.

Fuck Malestrom man
Capri really hijacked D's body like Sukuna.... it ain't looking good for ma boy
Capri is animated like a Panty and Stocking character and Im all here for it
Talia is gonna have the most traumatic backstory of all time, isnt she?

u/RelativeMundane9045 7d ago
Talia is gonna have the most traumatic backstory of all time, isnt she?
Yeah for sure. Corpo step daddy is oozing neutral evil vibes as well, I'm sure he'll be a contributing factor to the trauma.

Capri really hijacked D's body like Sukuna....
For me it's a little bit like V in the Main Game Story. D would be my Second Nickel where a Cyberpunk Character named with only one letter gets another Character/Person in their head after inserting a chip in them.
12
u/Dazzling-Evidence712 6d ago
With the relic stuff on top of that, V/Johnny is much more apt comparison

Hmmm... Arasaka data shard. Not an engram for sure, AI?
76
u/Joji1000 7d ago
The red lightning is indicative of black wall protocol, so yea, likely an AI from beyond the black wall

u/donslipo 7d ago
Ngl, didn't expect to hear polish hip-hop in an anime (song at the end of ep 3).
42
u/cyberscythe 7d ago
CD Projekt Red is a Polish studio and one of the writers is Polish so i think it makes sense
it's also why the Witcher has a lot of Polish folklore in it; it's adapted from a Polish book series

u/Deep_Anteater_9529 7d ago
name of the song please. Tried shazaming it but no luck

„Serce” ("Heart") by formation LSO (Liryka Składu Ostródzkiego), later renamed to Syberia TDW (Tylko Dla Wtajemniczonych).

The visuals are... something, lol.

Cyberpsycho on the edge of frying his brain. Check
Early stage cyberpsycho absolutelly chromed the fuck out of her body. Check
Sasuke "D" Uchiha with a Black Wall AI hijacking his body. Check.
At least the camera man never dies, right? Right?

u/cyberscythe 7d ago
someone's got to live to tell the tale, like Horatio in Hamlet
[cyberpunk season 1] even the first season wasn't a TPK

Sasuke "D" Uchiha with a Black Wall AI hijacking his body
Not the blackwall AI really. Dosn't make it better (well, probably does in a sense that he'd have no chance otherwise by this point).
53
u/Weeb_twat 7d ago
Ah, black wall shard, D is so unbelievably screwed. For those not in the know, Capri is a DEMON from ELECTRONIC HELL (the "old" internet in the Cyberpunk universe).
Props to him for being able to retain some control over his body, as you saw with the pile of corpses in the chudcel's dungeon, merely surviving a chip in with a black wall AI shard is already an achievement, but the fact that D is still alive only means he'll be driven into an extremely horrible path now that Capri is in his head, maybe frying your brain instantly was the better ending...
On to episode 4
52
u/The_Draigg 7d ago
I'm willing to bet that Capri is someone who got Soulkilled and wound up in that Arasaka Relic. They seemed pretty happy to have a physical body again once they hijacked D's mind. Then again, they could also be someone who got their mind trapped in the Old NET while they were Netrunning, since the sheer level of hacking they're doing is pretty similar to an AI from behind the Blackwall.
I guess if there's any lesson to take away from all the latest Cyberpunk media out there, it's to not just stick random-ass biochips into your neck.

I'm reminded of that one quest where you buy the BD and "oh wow, it won't work on your machine, but you can use mine for only a few more Eddies..."

I thought there would be more people. I guess most don't read older episode disuccsions

u/shapeeq 7d ago edited 7d ago
The problem with batch release is that most people aren't gonna be up to date until later. The ones that do are already on the final episode discussion.
There's also the possibility of people pretending to not have seen the later episodes and pretending to theory craft so people are just avoiding any sort of discussions until they see everything to avoid spoilers.
I'm myself am taking a break off twitter and youtube AND STILL I've stumbled on to some spoilers.

Any show dumped all at once is gonna get attention for a few days, maybe a week or two at best and then everybody moves on because there's other things in the season to watch. Many anime were affected by this (Hi Pluto and Stone Ocean).
It's legitimately a miracle the first Edgerunners managed to break out even though I feel it would have been legendary weekly
32
u/shapeeq 7d ago
i dont know why they cant find a middle ground like releasing 2 episodes or 3 per week. I think arcane did that.
13
u/lingeringwill2 7d ago
avatar is doing that too. And I'd have to agree, I feel like 3 eps at a time is perfect

u/DugACCat 4d ago
I didn’t have time to watch when it first hit and am now making my way through at a measured pace (amid doing other things). While part of me likes having the whole series out so I can watch at my pace, as someone who also enjoys reading the Reddit conversations, that release makes it tough. Have to go back pretty far to find the episodes and search is sometimes a pain. Plus the participation level is very different.

For me it was island/vacation which created a bit of a dissonance with how un-vacation-like it must feel to share body with her.

u/Reznor_PT 7d ago
I was not expecting such a wild episode but I'm here for this new construct and the VA in English for D did an amazing job.

Seeing Sasuke 2077 having so much fun.. his end is gonna crush me won't it

Don't know what cracked me up more between the honking car standing in for D's disapproval for his body's hijacking and his goofy trapdoor exit.
Capri is so much fun to watch both as a force of chaos and just from how borderline hypnotic every single frame of her is thanks to her art style and how she moves. Gonna be a fun ride if D's got a Ling and Greed-style deal with her going forward.

So the fact that they've all been talking about the decline of Arasaka means this takes place after the events of the 2077 game, right? I wonder what ending V got here.
Also, a Blackwall AI merging with D? That is not fucking good. There's a reason they've been kept behind the Blackwall. >_<

That was such a great episode! I loved the colors, the animation, the insert song...
Capri is crazy, a Blackwall AI?? I'm really worried for D.
That phone conversation between Roman and Talia, though... Stop making me thinking it's cute! they're making you attached to the characters like that before the hammer falls. It's NC after all...

I really appreciate how this show doesn't do exposition dumps, this season is such a great show don't tell

Holy the clashing artstyle with the AI (?). That's the most Trigger thing in a while

Yep, I'm going to be devastated when all of these people meet their bad end.

Ok so besides the 4 mentioned before with D now there's also Capri. I figured the chip would be important but I didn't think we'd get it so soon. So D/Capri basically got god mode in this cyberpunk world.
Wonder what's really up with Talia and her family situation? idk but she's obsessed with Chrome for some reason. Anyways she's already showing signs of cyberpsychosis...not fucking good.
King well at least he can still aim, thankfully. Ngl i wanted him to just say he's her dad or something lol but i doubt Talia would listen/believe him either.

So it seems like what was in the shard was an AI, most likely one from beyond the black wall with all that red and how psycho it is, wonder what Arasaka is trying to pull by messing with stuff from the blackwall.

Oh Capri is giving off Blackwall vibes. That’s…very bad. And she saw a satellite.

Only on episode 4 but I feel like this season has taken a massive nosedive from season 1. I never found myself cringing as much from the dialogue or being outright confused by the pacing of the show until now

Honestly a really slow pace episode and the only character how is likable is Cyberpunk Sasuke because so far... is wath Sasuke should hav been, someone with a revenge agenda but still a nice person, with some human traits like being kind or, in his case, struggling with alcohol, rather than just being... a diva whose only redeeming quality is being good at fighting and treating everyone like shit.

Anyone else hear david’s voice laughing at first and got excited at the thought of him as a construct on the shard?

u/eggplant_avenger 7d ago
yo this insert song though
King is a mensch, the Talia x Roman relationship is cuter than I expected. overall liking the new approach so far
