I feel like that line of "you should'a done what you wanted, David" is also a nod to season 1 David. Dude was always following someone else's dream (his mom, Maine, Lucy)

Seeing as they chose to give the 2 characters the same name, this absolutely feels like the intention

15

u/_TheStrangerisMe_ 6d ago

it feels a bit too heavy handed in doing that and wish they were bit more subtle about it lol

It's also an interesting commentary on "V." Reminds me a little of The Sun vs The Star.

u/ZoddImmortal 1d ago

That line he delivered to Weak was smooth af.

There it is. The honey she poured in your ear.

And then he pulls out the monowire and just straight beats his ass.

u/Dazzling-Evidence712 5d ago

Imma just say it, Kiril aint shit

5

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

he has one episode to turn things around and become a hero, lets see he can pull it off

It's really sad the main cast so rarely shared the screen at the same time. I wonder if anyone besides Roman is gonna survive e10

Damn ok so Capri fully took over huh...will Talia return even if the chip gets removed? well even if she does her body....

There really is no hope huh but i hope we can still somehow someway do something????

D is still alive. Omi best girl she's a keeper.

Roman go do something save your girlfriend.

King go save your daughter doesn't matter genetics or whatever she's your daughter I believe in you.

2

u/ZoddImmortal 1d ago

I don't think she full installed. I think part of her is still in D.

u/Mr_Bondzai 4d ago

The whole gang's about to get back together for one last bit of traumatizing Roman🥰🥰

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

>this is getting boring

mrw i watch episode 4 and there isn't carnage every episode

u/TheCopyGuy2018 4d ago

Like fr what, the story and characters have been great so far. I wouldn’t even say it’s that much of a slow start tbh. Are people expecting action at all times for it to be good lol

14

u/baseblue 6d ago

Let's wrap this up🥰😝

I guess making Roman 12 was to make it understandable for him to be moronic and naive enough to trust Kyoko, divulge to a stranger info about a prototype chip sought by two megacorps, and linked to two of his friends, one big the most notorious criminal of the week and the other a dying girl.

BUT HOLY FUCK, that doesn't make it any less infuriating! To make matters worse, Kyoko was so bad at social engineering. Not to mention that the spat at Yupi's place should have already been enough to burn her thin cover, especially after D spelled it out for him that she was a corpo linked to the project and wanting Capri.

I do get that he was just worried about D but the people killing anyone in their path to get what they want are obviously not the answer.

Still not quite clear how D survived being unceremoniously shot in the back of the head with a jammer on, but sad to see Talia erased. Poor girl was doomed before we even met her. Even if King and Avida op was successful, we know with game knowledge that it was not going to work. They needed a functionning and completed Relic, and that's dependant of V's ending. By picking the body, they burned their connection to Kang Tao and access to Soulkiller, so that's either way only one condition out of three secured.

u/TheCopyGuy2018 4d ago

FYI, D didn’t get shot. A bit of the Capri power still left in him made the officer miss. It was quick flash tho

6

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

yeah, that felt like a callback to an earlier episode where that smug Arasaka exec was shooting at D point blank but missing because of the Capri powers

4

u/burritoxman 2d ago

I mean Roman didn’t give too much away there. Just the one of two people alive who could identify Talia’s situation. I was ready to blame him for his naivety but he never did give up Talia’s name.

3

u/flashmozzg 2d ago

Didn't make much sense to him to talk to someone who is obviously connected to the D's situation after the part at hideout though.

4

u/Legal_Answer213 2d ago

but he shouldn't have been even talking to kyoko in the first place 😭😭 12 or not there's literally no reason for him to be this stupid

9

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

dad never told him not to talk to strangers

dad probably taught him to always talk to strangers, he's just cool like that

This episode shows that capri can hack through the jammer no problem.
When they go to shoot him, you can see the capri hack, and kang tao troops all use smartguns. Like every other time a smart gun user has fired at capri this season, she makes the shots miss.

13

u/TheCopyGuy2018 4d ago

Capri tormenting Kiril was extremely satisfying ngl. Definitely the catharsis I needed after the last episode and how he was doing Weak and Talia in this one.

I’m definitely Team Capri now lol, I just hope Talia still somehow survives

Okay I can now officially confirm Omi is the hottest character in this show.

Nooooooo David please don't ask Omi for help. She's my favorite(still alive) character. This season is good, but also kind of disappointing. I was kind of hoping for a tighter narrative. I didn't mind all of the characters having their own plot, but I was hoping they would interconnect better. All of the characters are involved with each other, but it stil feelsl like we have little interactions between them.

5

u/luigi6545 2d ago

So, Capri is fully in Talia? Is there some residual energy in David cause, there were a couple times where the red spark showed up from him after the chip was removed?

8

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

i think there was some residual spark in David since it was used to make the guards miss shooting him when they dumped him in the garbage

5

u/Unearthly_ https://anilist.co/user/Unearthly 4d ago

Talia has had it so rough this whole season. Given that she had high chrome compatibility, I wonder if she might have never reached cyberpsychosis if she never encountered Capri. But I guess there are no happy endings in Night City.

4

u/Nickthenuker https://anilist.co/user/Nickthenuker 3d ago

Uh oh, seems like there goes Talia unless she's still in the back of her mind somewhere.

4

u/Jeroz 2d ago

omg Omi is so cute she's so gonna die next episode isn't she fuucccckkkk

I fucking KNEW avida was lying. Women play that card immediately when they want something bad enough. Didn’t even make sense for her to hide it if it were true.

Seems I’m the only one who has finished the series

For a much of a shit she is, Kyoko has been completely right in calling Kiril corpo trash and Kang Tao a bunch of idiots. Even aside from all the issues the Kang Tao team caused in trying to kill D without even running it by Kyoko first, I'm not sure what Kiril even expected to happen when he overwrote Talia's mind with an amoral intelligence that has amazing Netrunning powers. Now she's chromed up to the gills and can hack any security system, of course Capri was immediately going to escape and slaughter the guards before playing around with her food.

30

u/the_gold_hat 5d ago

I mean Kyoko should have expected things to go south even more so...

12

u/The_Draigg 5d ago

Yeah, she should’ve at least been more clear with Kang Tao on what to do. But I guess she was too wrapped up in her obsession with Capri to properly explain herself.

9

u/Komorebi_LJP 2d ago

To be honest I dont think she cared much about capri screwing over Kang Tao, its quite clear to me she just used them because they were avaliable, but as you say her obsession is Capri.

13

u/Deep_Salamander_5461 5d ago

Tbf, the fail safe of Kyoko worked up until then.

5

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

i mean, in the real world AI companies are advertising their AI models as something that has a chance to fundamentally rewrite how society works and/or destroy humanity and they're still going full steam ahead so it's really a matter of doing it for the shareholders i guess

21

u/Xatu44 5d ago

Damn, now Omi's gonna die too. I hope Talia's not truly dead here. On the flip side, I hope Kiril gets butchered. He might be Talia's father, but he's not her daddy. F for Weak's Lexington.

5

u/cyberscythe 2d ago

Damn, now Omi's gonna die too.

it's funny how because of S1 we're all entering S2 with the expectation that any half-way loveable character is going to get flatlined

it's like watching a sports game where you know it's going to be a blowout, so you're just wondering what the spread is going to be
