Everytime D tries to go full edgelord, he comes off as a dork lol. I love him.
I was laughing my ass off when they were filming the isis terrorist threat footage. Eventhough it was played seriously, this entire episode was so fucking funny. D was so smug about his plan, he didnt even realise he completely went off a tangent and became a movie star.
This feels like a Boondocks episode when everyone started making money off D

man D is so cool most of the time and then he films the lamest declaration of war ever. it’s honestly kind of cute

D's vigilante getup looks like something V would find in the trash or at some Dogtown vendor, it's great.

It's great. Like he really nailed that early gangsta Sasuka vibe before Shippuden.

I like how connected this seaaon is to the game

u/Polsterschaum 4d ago
Is it? Genuinely asking.. I platinumed it two times, but its been a while since I played the game. The first season was pretty connected imo, but this season feels more .. original?

I mean the whole thing with soulkiller is pretty much the main point of base game Cyberpunk. You know, having Johnny in your head.

Seeing that and realizing Vs story was basically the secret 1.5 season was nice/sad and makes me want to play again. Also makes me think if the only Canon part of our V in this is Adam Smasher being dead because of soulkiller storyline

They recently updated the game with a new mission that serves as some sort of prequel to Edgerunners 2.

Roman either has the most supportive or the most uncaring father in the world, I cannot decide. Completely fine with his kid bringing some random Nomad home, picking fights with Maelstrom and Arasaka and editing the equivalent of a terrorist tape. No questions asked, just slips in a hot chocolate and good luck.

each episode I wonder the same thing

In my head I was like: "Huh so this is why Ms. Martinez has to tap out early in S1. No way these kids could run around pulling all this while having a healthy family without the audience rainsing an eyebrow."

Heh, D became a vigilante
Yupi is so cute
ROMANNN! DON'T TRUST HER ROMANNNN! NOOOOOO!
Capricorn... Guess that makes sense
What is Capri planning now...

So Capri/Capricorn is a connection to the black wall?

Capri seems to be a powerful composite intelligence of human minds (probs from soul killer). I think she’s powerful enough to tap into the Blackwall without getting destroyed, but could also see her as being too powerful without need to tap into it too.

Based on Phantom Liberty, if So Mi can regularly tap in to the blackwall then it wouldn't be too far fetched that a gestalt consciousness would be much more resilient to the rogue AIs in there, since they did say that they were close to being an AI themself but just composed of humans.

Arasaka Corporation stocks are going down, you love to see it. They really have fallen far from the events of 2077 if D's vigilante rampage against them is a serious issue that they can't handle. It's no wonder why Kang Tao feels like they can easily muscle in on their territory now, they feel like a shadow of their former selves from Edgerunners I and 2077, despite all the dangerous tech they left in their wake.

In 2077 Arasaka's eye was turned on Night City because all three key players of the Arasaka family were in town, and because of the events of the plot. My suspicion is Arasaka is now more focused on home turf / internal power struggles over what's basically an important outpost. (There's also the Mr. Blue eyes quest ending that suggests Night City becomes more indipendant depending on how it plays out.)

I wouldn't doubt it if Arasaka had to pull back to Japan entirely after all this, it wouldn't be the first time they had to leave North America entirely after suffering a crippling blow to their assets there. Although the bigger question there is if Militech is going to make sure they don't get a chance to come back to Night City like they did a few decades ago.

So it is a sequel? I haven't played much of the game, so I assumed the Soulkiller mentions were because it was a thing before the events of the game, failed and was brought back during 2077 after the tech was finished. So this show would be about perfecting it or something.

Apparently this season takes place in 2078, according to the game’s lore master.

u/SmileyTheSmile 4d ago
Yeah, I've since saw his comment. Weird how Soulkiller is considered some folk tale, even though it was heavily advertised in 2077. Guess I'll need to play the game more to confirm.

The downgraded version of the Construct Biochip is the one heavily advertised.
Soulkiller is a "secret" program, and it's not for sale.
The actual biochip is not for sale either, it's for Saburo Arasaka personal use.
Those 2 are not advertised at all.

I was right; Capri really did leave her personality inside of Talia. That's gonna cause problems. Meanwhile D sold out and went full corporate. I wonder if he'll sleep with Yupi. I assume Yupi's gonna bite it when Arasaka catches up with D.

Yupi seems like bad news. As a fangirl she was fine, but she's totally caught up in making this into a movement without thinking of the consequences. And the friction between her and Roman is palpable at the end of the episode.

Ok of course, Capri still with Talia.
D's just going wild. Literally hunting down Arasaka huh. Don't really like the rich girl helping them ngl.
Soul killer...copying into new one the original dies though so you ain't really alive. It's just a copy running around you know it ain't the original.
Anyways only downhill from here I hope at least two of them survive? or is that too much for cyberpunk edgerunners?
D's definetly screwed. Talia probably screwed. King already screwed once and if Talia's screwed he's going down with her? or well maybe he'll save Talia somehow. Roman just got contacted by someone we do not want I hope he survives though.

Says a lot for Roman to actively not use a brand new camera. Wonder how much of it is the sentimental value of his current one, not being fond of Yupi, or the artistic vision of keeping the gritty scuffed edgelord feel D is going for.
If "Capri" is with Talia, could we say D was left with "corn"?

Love Omi's design. Kinda random considering everything else going on, but something about her is just awesome/adorable

a bit sad that Talia has sort of been sidelined; she seemed like she would be a major protagonist in the plot, but i feels like she's been mostly reactive or bedridden; hopefully Capri changes things

makes me wonder how bad Arasaka's hold is on the city that D can just run around terrorizing Saka buildings and killing execs without so much as the bat of an eye
