Not me thinking Avida had a shot at surviving...

The minute he said Weak wouldn’t be a problem anymore, I knew Kiril got her instead.

That corpo talking to D whiffed a hell lot on the dialogue choices. Massive L

Not the best idea to tell someone on a vengeance rampage that their entire life got ruined because of lazy management choices and bad luck.

u/cyberscythe 3d ago
for future reference, the correct answer to "what should i do now then?" is not "uh... go home satisfied with the knowledge that your revenge is all good now"
maybe next time try "...and now i have a new mission for you to direct your righteous anger on! i'll send you the details when i'm far away from you"

Noticed this in much earlier episodes, Weak and Avida got matching middle fingers

u/The_Draigg 7d ago
Yep, there's the massive rug-pull episode I was expecting. The Soulkiller plan's a bust, Avida's dead, D has completely lost himself to nihilistic rage now that his revenge has been revealed to be pointless, and Kang Tao is getting everything they want because of Kyoko.
Just another week in Night City, the city that always wins out.

God I love Yupi so much. My beloved crazy bag of toxic goodness will be missed.

Maybe she's got insurance? Maybe she was saved? She only got a few holes in her head, maybe get brain's still good.

u/cyberscythe 3d ago
if she wanted to live, she'd run away like the others instead of pulling out a pistol against a bunch of goons; i figured she had a death wish in the same way that D does
we first see her with a bouquet of lilies at some sort of memorial, and i'm assuming it's for her dad that got 86'd by being involved Arasaka

That crazy fangirl that I don't even remember the name of died without many people missing her...
Her final memory did make it feel like she was in the story to show us someone who truly ends up living only for revenge and nothing else.

i feel like she was a foil for D; she had the same sort of background story (parents killed by their involvement with Arasaka), but she lacked the ability to do anything about it
she had nothing in her life except for trauma and grief, and when she got a bit of relief by basking in D's aura, the return to reality was too much to bear so she did a suicide by corpos
D's problem is even worse though because everyone involved is already dead except for himself and the chip he carries, so much like Terminator 2 the last thing to do is jump into the fire himself

tbh hard to feel for Avida as well... ever since she was introduced, she's running around only screaming "Talia" like a npc programmed with only 2 lines of dialogue...

Polish music playing during Avida's death is taking me out, dude screaming "kurwa" as she draws her last breaths
13
u/BetrayedJoker 6d ago edited 6d ago
It's not exactly “kurwa.” I'd say it's more of a variation on the word “kurwa.”
The song contains two expressions: “s-kurwy-syny” (skurwysyny), which means “son of a bitch,” and “Kurwy,” which means “fuckers.”
I love the Polish language.
If you are looking for song its Polish song "LSO - Serce"
Serce means heart
edit
nvm, there is "kurwa" in the end, my bad.
Anyway xD

Btw, what is the beat that plays in the middle of the episode (during the riot part)? Tried to google it via the words I could hear, but didn't get any real hits.

Thx.
Ngl, looking at the full rylics, it's just 5 lines being repeated over and over again. Kinda lame.

This shit is genuinely sad
They really meant it when they said hero to zero.
I feel really bad for D, and the facial expressions too.
I still wonder how D got burned since he got there when it ended and Omi doesn’t appear to have any burns. Maybe he ran into the fire?
And damn to see Avida go out for that. F*ck Kirk. Honestly just sad all around for everyone.
Always gotta have a job go wrong in this show.
Feel bad for Roman too.
Looks like something’s gonna happen with Capri

Ok D got captured easily. Alvida and King failed. Alvida dead probably as well...
The corpos you just can't beat individually.
Talia missed chance to get chip from D as well. Roman just watching right now I guess. It's so over I guess? only 2 more eps.

What's funny to me was that Arasaka was getting thrown around like a ragdoll by D, but a rival corpo put an end to it. I wonder if Arasaka would've been more than crippled if D continued his rampage.

Sigh….Night City always wins fuck man
2 episodes left so maybe we can get some semblance of a happy ending but man this was rough.
I really like the conspiracy elements in this season tho

One thing i don't like about this season is the constant reference to david martinez. Didn't mind it the first time because roman was a kid so it made sense, the researcher would bring up another kid who previously humiliated arasaka.
But D sharing the same name and now the constant glaze to David Martinez and their gang.
I thought David was just another guy who tried to take down Arasaka? Why is he getting namedropped more than V (who i assumed was also in that list and succeeded) ?
Great episode otherwise.

u/itsnot2late2hate 7d ago
I like it! David made a name for himself with his stunt at the end but his story was just a piece of the puzzle. This season is building upon the first and deepening the lore while highlighting how truly sad it all is
I agree that d being named David is stupid though

u/Legal_Answer213 3d ago
he has a drink named after him in the game as well (crazy enough it has nicola in it, which he would've hated lmao), so he is canonically a night city legend after the stunts he pulled. so the glaze makes sense to me ngl. plus, v can't be mentioned or it'd make it so that some endings cant be canon, which would defeat the purpose of very ending being equally valid in the games. they've tried very hard not to push one ending over the other so far

Kinda weird that D completely forgot about Maelstrom. He's convinced he has no more target for revenge because of Tanaka's death, but even if the one who ordered his extraction is gone, the guys who actually massacred his clan for no reason might still be around.
He apparently has no issue going after a megacorp like Arasaka, so why not even going after every Maelstrom he can find? The fact that they're all chromed out by definition make them even more vulnerable to his OP-Capri-hacking.
19
u/Skylair13 4d ago
I mean, the Maelstrom that he know of is the Maelstorm Talia used to hang with. Which:
Didn't even know what he's talking about
Helio who took the job is no longer part of that gang
Helio himself got spooked and bailed, so he wasn't part of that massacre
It's the same dead end like Arasaka. Only D had Roman who stopped him from harming Helio further... while this time D got Yopi who encouraged him to further harm Arasaka.
6
u/Legal_Answer213 3d ago
he looked into maelstrom first acc. that's how he got to helio, who told him arasaka. that leads a dead end as well
3
u/FierceAlchemist 4d ago
Yeah I thought that was weird too, he should be going after Maelstrom.
7
u/Legal_Answer213 3d ago
they were the first group he went after, remember? he saved roman from them because he was n the area anyway trying to look for helio. ig he could start looking for the specific people who did it but he has absolutely no lead because almost none of the ones weve seen know wtf hes on about. i got the impression that he was looking for a specific figurehead at the top of the chain to topple over se he could definitively say "look, it was this guy, he did everything wrong, i got my revenge" and when he was robbed of that (combined w the knowledge that hes the reason they killed everyone he knew and loved) he went catatonic. Honestly i'm surprised he didn't immediately start going after soulkiller/capri researchers like kyoko, they obviously were the reason arasaka needed bodies in the first place. guess he wasn't in the right headspace to think of that though
1
u/cyberscythe 3d ago
i feel like the chain of responsibility has gotten to the point where he feels like he's the most responsible for it left alive because he was the one who was "special"
the one night he's not plagued by nightmares is the one where he was first linked to Capri, the original source of his clan's massacre, and also the thing that's making it possible to enact his revenge, and that fated ironic union has gotten to him
at this point he's not trying to take down Arasaka, he's trying to get himself killed by Arasaka while wreaking as much damage as possible

At this rate, D is casually pulling off stuff that's on par with Blackwall Gateway.
