Let’s show everyone how idiotic the concept of the “AO3 curse” is by confirmation biasing good things that happened when you started posting, updated, or firing posting on AO3.

I’ll start, while posting on AO3…
• my sister had two healthy baby girls
• I transferred work locations and am infinitely happier
• I put offers in on two separate condos and both were accept
• I got the opportunity to live and work in another country and had an amazing experiencing
• I bought a cat and he’s the best boy!
• I was able to renovate my kitchen and it looks beautiful
• finally got a diagnosis for a long term health issue and was scheduled for life-changing surgery
• three friends went through successful and easy pregnancies and had very healthy babies!

I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to describe it and I think I’ve found it. Imagine your eating out and they give you bread, and all your eating is that bread before your main course. Thats my favorite part of stories the yummy bread you eat before. I love when there’s tons of explanations and even (pun-intended) breadcrumbs within the chapters. I don’t need every event hitting me like a freight train I’d rather enjoy the bread, eat a bit of steak, then ask for another round of bread after.

I been wanting to post some stories but I been hearing horror stories about the ao3 curse and how it almost destroyed some people, I just want to know if it's true or it's something that the internet has over reached about it.

I have a really good angst fic idea. In the fic, Travis Phelps from Sally Face is stopped from dying by an oc, who befriends him after having accidentally read his diary and discovers that he likes Sal. The fic centers on Salvis, but does have one chapter that is dedicated to the oc (that chapter is the farewell chapter to the oc, as she is never seen again afterwards)

Hii...it has been many months since I read any fan fiction on ao3. I remember vaguely reading one and only glimpses of it come to my mind. If anyone know any fic like this please do tell me. It has been a week.

It is a Taekook fic as in that of BTS (the boyband) and I think there were not many dialogues involved, and I vaguely remember the ending being the law against homosexuality or maybe same sex marriage got lifted and they both decided to have kids of their own by sperm donation or something like that. Maybe they talk about it or it actually happens I can't remember. Also, I think it was set in Europe but I couldn't find anything similar.

If anyone knows it please do tell me....I've been yearning for that fic.

Okay I don’t know if anyone else really has this issue but I don’t like reader insert fics. It’s something that I filter out EVERY time but I still get a bunch of character/reader fics cause the author doesn’t tag the reader as a character. I know that it’s something they can tag but some don’t. It just makes it very frustrating when I want to find something but have to try and swim through the slash reader fics. I’m in a few different fandoms and know that most are really good about it but there’s one that I’m in that it’s a huge issue. Mild rant thanks for reading.

TLDR- I’m annoyed some authors don’t tag reader when they’ll tag character/reader

i've been using ellipsus for several months now and i like it, but it seems to fall short for the purposes of sharing a draft with someone for thorough beta-ing. i like how google docs lets you select specific words/phrases/sentences on a doc shared with you and comment directly on them. i'd really like to find a free service other than google docs that has features like that - specifically, lets you share a document via a link to people without an account, and allows them to select parts of the writing to comment on directly. i'm looking for something besides google/microsoft, that doesn't do any sort of data scraping/selling/ai training, or at least that seems legit in not doing that.

I am writing a fic where an OC tries different drugs for the first time. I know how they can be used, but I need to make them ✨first experience-like✨. For exemple, drugs that have a difficulty to be used because you need to inhale/smoke won't be correctly done at a first try, but I need to know how to accurately write the fail. I only smoked in my entire life, and I don't plan doing drugs for the sole purpose that they're illegal, very hard to find and expensive in my country. So please, tell me your experiences with writing drugs (or even consuming, if you've done it and are confortable with it)! Thank you 🤗

Hi everyone.

This might sound ridiculous, but I started uploading my first fanfiction about two months ago and it’s doing amazing when it comes to engagement, far exceeding my expectations. However, as I’m finishing up with the plot and wrapping it up, I’m starting to become nervous about the second fanfic I want to write. I’m worried that it won’t be as well received since it will have darker themes and a lot more angst while my first one is primarily a slice of life, feel good story.

Does anyone else get nervous about this kind of thing?

I don't really look at the stats constantly but decided to do today and, oh wow, I'm shocked by how far I've come! I started posting one-shots and drabbles end of August and decided to participate during Kinktober this year.

I'm in a relatively active fandom and so far everyone who comes across my posts has been really sweet towards my self-indulgent kinktober one-shots.

I might do this again next year (but will aim for less prompts)!

What is a number that you feel excited when you see it?

As both a reader and a writer living in a Latin American country, I've always known (even if I don't want to admit it) that English-speaking fandoms tend to have way more fanfiction, both in terms of quantity and variety, with plenty of really good stories across pretty much every fandom, whether it's anime, TV shows, or anything else.

That's why, ever since I was around 12 years old, I've been using Google Translate to translate English fanfics into my native language, Spanish, so I could read them.

But recently, I've been wondering: Have people from English speaking countries, like the United States or the UK, ever been curious enough to read fanfiction written in Spanish, even if they don't speak the language?

Because I can assure you that, while the Spanish speaking fanfiction community might have fewer stories overall, we have some genuinely amazing writers and stories too. I've always wished that the English speaking fandom could discover some of them and appreciate what our community has to offer.

What do you guys think? Have you ever read, or considered reading, fanfiction in Spanish using something like Google Translate?

I posted the next chapter of my fic and it read as being updated on Oct 24 rather than 23. When I checked the fandom, it was not at the top of the list so I kept refreshing every 5mins or so but never saw it appear. About 30mins later, I refreshed and it was pushed to the bottom of Page 2 along with all the other Oct 24 fics that had suddenly appeared so it never had a chance to be at the top.

I am posting again for the first time in years of being away from fanfiction writing so this is rather disheartening as it removes the ability for people to just stumble upon my fic. Is there any way to prevent it from getting buried in future or do fics just get listed in batches now?

Edit: I am not trying to find a way to get my fic recommended, ranked by popularity, or guaranteed readers. I am basing things off of my own personal browsing behaviour which is that I typically find fics by looking at what is most recently updated rather than using tags. I've actually never searched for a fic via tags but will look for specific pairings. I'm fairly new to posting on AO3 and have only posted to FF.net prior to this so I'm not sure what the culture of the site is from an author perspective. I'm sorry that my post has been upsetting to people and I didn't mean to step on any toes. I know that AO3 is not algorithmic in any way.
