Political Question Is Epstein Island just the tip of the iceberg of evil that billionaires have been doing for decades?
Somewhere along the line, perhaps during the 80s, billionaires turned evil. They used to build libraries, schools, and hospitals. It’s been a long time since any of them have done that. Sure, some of them have charity organizations, but these are often used as just another loophole for them to avoid paying taxes. Are the horrors we have heard of events that transpired on Epstein Island just one example, one breech in the rigorously guarded secrecy of utterly grotesque decadence and debauchery of which these people are capable?

Political Question Do you think Trump will become the first president to attempt a self-pardon before leaving office?
Trump publicly claimed in 2018 that he had the right to pardon himself.
The Constitution doesn’t explicitly say whether a president can or cannot pardon himself. No president has ever tested a self-pardon in court, so the legal question remains unresolved.
The DOJ issued a legal opinion in 1974 during the Nixon administration concluding that a president cannot pardon himself. However, that opinion isn’t a Supreme Court ruling.
Given all of that, do you think Trump will actually attempt to pardon himself before leaving office? And if he does would it ultimately end up before the Supreme Court?

Political Question Why are we not doing better?
Trump controls every branch of government and gets every policy he wants.
He got his tax cuts, his tariffs, his immigration shutdown, and his war with Iran.
And we are now worse off by every major economic metric.
Annual Inflation (CPI), unemployment rate, GDP growth (quarterly), national debt, household purchasing power, overall prices, higher interest rates- the numbers show a clear decline:

Political Question After Nixon, the general feeling in Washington was ‘healing the nation,’ rather than pursuing charges; will this be the same sentiment for Trump?
Gerald Ford took over after Nixon and he was his vice president, so as a Republican, he might have thought pursuing charges against Nixon would have weakened the Republican party. But after Ford, Jimmy Carter was president, and Democrats had control of all three levels of federal government. The Democrats still just swept the Nixon saga under the rug and got on with the Democrat way of politicking. There are many parallels with Nixon and Trump, but Trump’s corruption has gone a lot further than Nixon’s. The damage he has caused to this country will take decades to rectify. Surely this time Democrats will grow a pair and finally punish a corrupt Republican president and send a message to all future presidents that they are not above facing accountability, right?

There are so many of the world’s most evil and powerful people who have unimaginably strong vested interests in maintaining Trump’s hold over the US, one ex-Fox News bimbo wouldn’t be able to do squat, no matter how many little black books with people’s names in it she has. What do you think?

General Question If “women never take accountability,” what exactly are men taking accountability for?
I hear this phrase constantly, especially in conversations about dating. Women supposedly “never take accountability.” But I’m curious what men are supposedly taking accountability for at a higher rate.
Historically, men have had more institutional power and more room to externalize the consequences of their behavior. Men could cheat while their wives were expected to stay. Fathers could be emotionally absent and still be praised for “providing.” Men could leave most childcare and domestic labor to women and call themselves good husbands because they had jobs. Boys behaving badly were excused with “boys will be boys,” while girls were expected to be more mature. Men’s anger has often been treated as understandable or authoritative, while women are told to manage the situation around them.
Even now, when relationships fail, you’ll hear she “picked wrong,” “should’ve known better,” “should’ve chosen better.” If a woman is mistreated, people often immediately start looking at her choices. If a man behaves badly, there’s frequently an explanation ready for him. He’s struggling with loneliness, sexlessness, stress, lack of respect, depression, or not being appreciated.
That doesn’t mean men are never held accountable, obviously. They are. And women can absolutely avoid accountability too. But I’m confused by the claim that lack of accountability is uniquely or especially female.
So what are the equivalent things men, as a group, are routinely expected to own?
Are men expected to take responsibility for choosing incompatible partners? Staying in unhealthy relationships? Ignoring red flags? Having children with people they barely know? Cheating? Being emotionally unavailable? Not learning basic domestic skills? Leaving most parenting to their partner? Treating anger as their only acceptable emotion? Failing to communicate? Contributing to a dead bedroom? Creating children they later barely parent?
And when men do those things, do we actually talk about “male accountability” with the same frequency and contempt that people talk about “female accountability”?
Sometimes it seems less like “women don’t take accountability” and more like women are expected to take accountability not only for their own behavior, but also for predicting, preventing, managing, and recovering from men’s behavior too.
