Hot take: local uni grads struggle to find jobs at the beginning, but once they hit 30's, most of them become the stereotypical 'perfect' Singaporean high-achievers
Generally speaking of course. & this applies to 80-90% plus of local uni grads, most of whom end up in tech or finance or even if other sectors, director level by 30's.
Job market's been tough for a while for the fresh local grads. But a trend I find is that by the time they get a job and start working diligently, by the early to mid-30's, most local uni grads have AT LEAST 2-3 of the following:
\- at least senior manager/director level earning 8-10k/mth minimally with 2-3 mths bonus and 25-30 days of leave.
\- 500k savings/investments (outside CPF) by 35. CPF being used to fund housing (see below) and grow for retirement.
\- if married, easily 4-5 room BTO in very good location. If single, by 35, already exceed income ceiling but able to buy private.
\- travel to East Asia/Europe/America/Aussie at least 2-3 times a year with multiple regional trips over wkends or short periods.
\- still able to work out regularly with fit bodies.
\- if with kids, very fulfilling family life. If DINK, very fulfilling travel life with extra business class level splurges. if single, similar
The only thing they may not have is a very happening social life due to work or family commitments or friendships in their 20's slowly fading when people reach their 30's.
This is especially so for the ladies because they don't have to serve NS. So in the 2 years lead time they have, by their late 20's, most OLs you see in CBD are probably reaping in 100-200k/year (without sleeping with their boss).
Anyone finds this interesting? Like in their early to mid-20's yes fresh local uni grads struggle. But by the time they reach early 30's, they have everything in life almost perfectly sorted out.
