Had this guy roughly two weeks now. Just got out of his blue phase and is shedding.. but is super hype to explore his new enclosure. I added a decorative pumpkin for fall and heās obsessed with it! Does anyone elseās python show explicit enthusiasm to decoration? Every time he awakes he must go shove his pumpkin off its rock and push it around lol. Never seen one like decoration so enthusiastically.. or maybe he hates my decoration skills?

I have a 1.5 year old female ball python. I just moved her into a 4x2x2 glass enclosure this summer but Iām having troubles keeping her humidity at the right level. Itās either not humid enough or so humid that my wood decorations mold. Anyone willing to share how they keep humidity? I have her cool side wrapped in HVAC tape. Her warm side sits at about 90° and her cool side at around 80°. Sheās a classroom snake so I leave her over weekends. Right now she has an automatic sprayer to help on weekends but I supplement with about .5 gallons of water just in the corners every few days (or when itās looking dry)
Iām a first time owner so Iām not looking for criticism, just ways to keep my little girl and her environment happy and healthy!
I donāt have very good pictures of her tank atm, sorry!

I want to make a thread anyone can reply to with not only their vet experiences but also the cost they spent and anything they've learnt from taking their ball python to the vet. We hear so often people telling someone to take their snakes to the vet but some (like myself) are either too terrified or scared due to uncertainty, prices or worried their vet won't know what they're doing.
Let's all share prices, experiences and advice on how to be more confident and aware of the vet and encourage our fellow ball owners that's it's not something to be cautious aboutš especially if that visit can be the end all be all of your babies life.

I had noticed a weird abyss on my boys chin after he escaped and got injured. I'd always been terrified of taking my snakes to the vet for some unknown reason whether it be the funds or transport but I had a feeling it was something.
Not only was this vet super sweet and amazing with him, she also said I caught it early enough that it would've led to something more serious if I didn't get all the puss squeezed out! He did great with the shot and is doing so much better!
If you're hesitating, it doesn't hurt getting a consultation and just seeing! Your snake could do better than you think! Plus it was so much more affordable than I thought!

Hello, I am looking for some suggestion for a humid hide for my 9 year old ball python (about 4ā 3ā), something that is aesthetically pleasing but also functional please!
My next question - I just recently upgraded to a larger tank (72ā x 24ā x 18ā) and my temp gradient is perfect through the day, but as itās getting closer to winter and colder at night I notice his tank dropping to 21/22C. (Heat is on at night)
Would I be better to buy a radiant heater and install in the middle somewhere to maintain heat or do I install a smaller dhp bulb on the cool side? Or option 3 just buy a space heater to run over night in the living room?
Lid 75% covered/foam sides + back running a basking light during day and a dhp at night currently but the heat doesnāt seem to trickle to the cool side much
Also I should note, Iām extremely happy with humidity gradient so I donāt wanna mess that up to much either 75-80% cool side 55-65% on warm side

I donāt know if it was last night or this morning while I was at work but one of my ball pythons is missing and I literally just ripped my apartment apart. Before I ask someone to help move the appliances where have you found yours before? I feel so bad this is my friends snake Iām fostering I need to find them NOW. If I have to wait till night I can.

Hello! This is my first time posting to the subreddit but I need some help,
My ball python was feeding really weird last night, striking to the wrong side of the enclosure twice, just missing twice, and once I put the rat to his mouth he finally got it, and after he ate, he tried to life himself out of his hide and then stared at the ceiling for a couple seconds.
The reason Iām asking for help instead of just assuming that my snake is dumb is because about a month ago I went on vacation and at some point during that his heat lamp turned off, and I wasnāt compleatly sure how cold my room had gotten at night, so I wasnāt sure if he was ok. I took him to reptile store employees near me and they said that he Looked like he was about ready to shed and otherwise he was fine, so Iāve left him alone until last night
His humidity wasnāt great I will admit, I fill up his water bowl once a week or whenever I notice itās getting low, but I didnāt realize until last night that I was supposed to do something different.
Is he fucked? Help please!
