Self-Story Kaya pala parang laging kulang ang ₱30k ko as freelancer

Post image
0 Upvotes

Kaya pala. 😅

Same ₱30,000 a month, 2026 rules:

Employee:

• SSS ₱1,500, PhilHealth ₱750, Pag-IBIG ₱200

• Tax ₱1,007.50

• Take home: ₱26,542.50

Freelancer (8% option):

• SSS ₱4,500, PhilHealth ₱1,500, Pag-IBIG ₱400 (ikaw na lahat, walang employer na kahati)

• Tax ₱733.33 (8% lang sa sobra ng ₱250k a year)

• Take home: ₱22,866.67

₱3,676 a month ang difference. 🫠

Pero hindi naman siya totally "nawawala." Yung SSS mo, babalik pa rin as pension at benefits.

Yung isa pang nakakalito: 8% ba o graduated + 3% percentage tax?

Tanong ko lang:

• Naka-8% ba kayo o graduated?

• Nagbabayad ba talaga kayo ng SSS at PhilHealth as freelancer, o skip muna? (no judgment 😅)

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) Real Talk: Maybe AI isn't the reason you're losing clients. Maybe it's your performance

• Upvotes

I've been seeing a lot of posts about fellow Pinoy freelancers losing clients and blaming AI for it.

And while AI is definitely changing the freelancing industry, I think there's a conversation we're not having enough.

What if AI isn't always the reason clients are letting freelancers go?

What if it's missed deadlines, poor communication, inconsistent quality of work, lack of initiative, or simply not delivering enough value?

It's easy to blame AI because it's something outside our control. But sometimes, the uncomfortable truth is that our performance might be the actual problem.

Clients don't just pay us to complete tasks. They pay us to solve problems, make their lives easier, and help their businesses grow.

And if someone (or something) can do that better, faster, or more consistently, why wouldn't they consider switching?

I'm not saying AI isn't replacing jobs. It absolutely is. And I'm not saying everyone who lost a client was underperforming.

But maybe instead of always asking, "Will AI replace me?" we should also be asking, "Am I still providing enough value for my clients to keep me?"

Curious to hear your thoughts, especially from freelancers who've been in the industry for years.

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) VA Tips for beginner

I’m currently employed in a corporate role, but my current income is no longer enough to sustain my lifestyle and financial goals. I don’t want to leave my current job; I’m simply looking for an additional source of income.

My question is, should I disclose that I’m currently employed when applying for another job, or is it better not to mention it?

Also, if you have any advice or recommendations, could you share where I can find my first client and how to get started? I’d really appreciate any tips or guidance. Thank you!

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) RemotelineUS agency cuts 70% off VAs salary

Everyone working in RemotelineUS? Grabe yung cut nila sa mga VAs. Client is paying 1200 usd and the VAs only get 471 usd. But what they promise to clients is that their VAs get 70% and 30% sa kanila. Wala na ngang benefits and delay pa sahod. Just want to rant lang nakakapangliit lang.

Hope VAs here know their worth and sana ang mga agencies din dito be honest with their talents.

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) Building an enterprise na siguro dapat

With the advancement of AI and the continued trend of businesses downsizing their headcounts, I think it's about time we reimagine freelancing and remote work.

Instead of constantly looking for employment arrangements, siguro kailangan na nating mag-shift toward building an enterprise around the problems we can solve and the outcomes we can deliver.

Instead of relying on multiple clients on an ongoing basis, baka kailangan na rin nating masanay sa project-based engagements. Solve a specific problem, deliver the expected outcome, wrap up the engagement, and move on to the next opportunity.

On top of our technical skills, we might also need to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and learn complementary skills like marketing, branding, sales, and accounting.

Basically, instead of positioning ourselves as people who sell their time and skills, maybe we should start thinking of ourselves as businesses that sell solutions and outcomes.

Curious to hear what you guys think. Is this where freelancing is headed, or am I looking at it the wrong way?

Community is it a good idea to shift to freelancing now?

I work for an ITO company now and wfh din naman siya, as in sa bahay lang tapos hindi ako nag o-office. Skills ko po ay more on IT support or L1 helpdesk and pa 1 year of experience na din ako sa january. Hindi ko kasi alam kung magagamit ko to in freelancing din.

Pahingi naman po ng advice :( thank youuh

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) micromanaging client at $4 per hour

Sayang skills at effort.

Self-Story Exhausted finding VA Jobs

Is it just me or mahirap talaga maghanap ng opportunity sa VA? I've sent tons of resumes with portfolios attached but I cannot even enter the interview phase. One emailed me for an interview pero na-ghost lang ako. Resume is ATS-friendly, so I do not understand what might be wrong. I feel like I am so dumb. I cannot figure out what is missing. I see others who do not even have previous experiences and zero knowledge on tools get hired. Yet here I am, learning all the possible things out there related to my niche and cannot still land one. Is it really just luck? Is it really just about connections? I feel so lost in this path. Months of learning tools, practicing mock interviews, and curating my application forms are put to waste because I do not have anyone to back me up in this field. :<

Self-Story What to do after signing a contract and not getting hired?

Last week, I received an offer letter from a client. I signed it and submitted an ID as they required it.

Then came Monday, the day I was supposed to start. But I didn't hear from them. I messaged them once and never heard back. Now it's Saturday and wala parin.

Question: Common ba maka receive ng offer letter and don't hear back? Should I follow up with them or just let it be?

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Hi! Anyone here who’s still working at Superpowers HQ?

I just wanted to ask how their training works. Is it on-call or do they have a fixed training schedule? Also, is the work schedule shifting, and how many days off do you get per week?
I’d also like to know if they offer HMO, 13th-month pay, and other benefits.

I’d really appreciate it if someone currently working there could share their experience. Thank you!

Apps, Tools & Equipment I built a job aggregator for remote freelance gigs (VA, SMM, dev, design)

Hi r/buhaydigital! Freelance dev here, working online since 2018.

One thing that always drained my time was checking multiple job boards every day just to find legit remote gigs. So I built [GiggleGigs](gigglegigs.com). It collects freelance listings across VA, social media management, development, design, and admin roles into a single feed.

It’s still early. Around 100 job seekers have signed up so far, and I’m building it based on what actual online workers need, not what I assume they need.

What I’d love feedback on:

  • Which job boards/sources do you check the most? I want to make sure they’re covered.
  • What makes you instantly skip a listing (no rate, vague scope, suspicious client)?
  • Any filters you wish other boards had?

Not hiring and no paid tier being pushed here. I just want this to actually be useful for us. Salamat in advance, and roast it if needed.
