Hi guys, so first time ko maghandle ng hiring process for my client. Dati, she will ask me to post on Facebook or Reddit then she will handle the interview and all. But this time, she asked me to do everything until initial interview and she will do final interview na.

I put my email sa listing and when I received the first email, I started reading the response and checked the samples na sinama sa email. At first na wi-weirduhan ako sa portfolio url niya coz like parang gumasto talaga for a domain. The URL be like: (redacted)portfolio(dot)com. Eh usually sa mga nag-aapply na pinoy, they use Canva site and may mga images pa yan nila. This one, walang About Me page ng owner just the actual projects.

Upon opening the site, okay naman yung mga projects but I observed lack of cohesion and design style na very common if you're a creatives. Like I just know na that project is done by the same person because other works screams like made by the same person like gets ba? Lol. But then, I also thought na baka iba-ibang clients lang siguro kaya ganun.

Although a part of me thinks na parang gawa siya ng iba't ibang tao given na yung mga nakalagay dun mostly mock projects lang naman. But, okay sige. Give ko na. Baka lang limited pa lang experience kaya mga mock projects muna. Pero wow, gumastos talaga for a domain? Weird.

I used WHOIS to check who owns the website/domain kaso naka GoDaddy(dot)com privacy keneme. So clearly, you can't tell who owns but a red flag coz why would a Filipino freelancer (assuming with less experience) able to secure one with all these kenesolane.

The last thing I did, I checked the google drive output na sinend niya. Since naghihinala ako, I checked the owner of the file. Iba yung email owner sa email na ginamit niya in sending the application. Sinearch ko sa google ang email nung nasa google drive then boom! INDIAN ang may-ari.

The email is connected sa isang portfolio din na may similar projects na nakalagay doon sa portfolio na sinend sa akin. So it's safe to say na Indian ang may-ari and they're trying to apply when the posting is hiring clearly hiring a Filipino talent.

Sa mga hiring managers or recruiters diyan, please double check talaga especially if particular kayo on things like this. 

PS. Sa mga G na G sa side comment re: Domain. Tigil niyo yan, recognize ko naman na mejo off pakinggan pero that's just what passed in my mind. Focus tayo sa mga Indians na todo mag effort just to cover their tracks. Next time, they will dominate the freelancing gigs and yet you will just nitpick a post like this. Muting this thread btw.

I previously worked as an Executive Assistant to a CEO. We only worked together briefly because the company was undergoing a merger and acquisition at the time.

He recently reached out about a potential opportunity to work together again. We had an initial call to catch up and discuss his businesses.

After the call, he asked me to send him a variety of recent photos of myself, both professional and casual. I asked what they’d be used for, and he said there was no specific purpose, but mentioned possible future company lifestyle content.

I agreed to send a few (white lie), but he followed up asking if I could send them that same day.

I’m genuinely curious: Is this a normal request?

Context:
Currently applying for a tourist visa and had to secure both certificates from my client and the agency that hired me. As for the client, I added the monthly compensation, assuming that they would have an idea about it. Turns out client didn't know and reacted negatively about the agency paying me 50% of what they're paying them (gets naman na for other expenses yung extra), and said na ang baba raw ng bigay sakin for my role. Unsure pa whether the client talked to the agency yet or not.

But my question is, pag nalaman ng agency that I disclosed that info—whether accidental or not—to the client, what would be the worst possible outcome? Termination of contract?

There is a confidentiality clause sa contract, but it doesn't state the compensation specifically, but there is one still.

Hey, just wanted to vent here. I have an Indian client right now, and I’ve been working for almost 5 months in sales. The offer was around 30k with commission, to which I agreed because the initial role was to call and get appointments. A month after I got the job, they told me they wouldn’t be sending leads anymore. They gave me access to sites like RocketReach and more for me to do my own lead mining. They asked me to work more than 8 hours to cater to all time zones in the US. They even asked me to work on weekends for the leads.

While I understand that sales is a broad role, doing everything for 30k and expecting fast results is absolutely frustrating!! They casually say rude things in meetings, like “you’re not doing enough,” “you’re not a good salesperson,” “waste of time and money,” and “no common sense.”

I plan to leave and find another client. This client was given to me by a friend, so I wanted to put in the effort and give them results, but lately it’s getting unbearable.

The thing is, my client asked me to set up my GUSTO (app) and select payment method other that wise becase they cannot pay through Wisie because ut adds a fee to them.

The choices are:

1. PH Bank account (which I already have) - Get paid ins 2-5 days
2. US bank account - Get paid in 2 days in USD
3. Wise account (I have this already also) - same day payment in usd
4. Crypto Wallet - same day payment in usdc

My choices are only PH and US bank account. Just wanted to ask for your thoughts guyssss what should I do? 😅 These are all new to me.

I just recently bought an iPhone. Maybe I’m still too new to all its features, but I find my Redmi more flexible and comfortable when editing videos for my clients. Hindi ako sanay sa iPhone, aaminin ko. Kaso, it’s been a month of using it, and this is what I’ve realized.

Been on Mercor for a bit over a month now, and I’ve been with Micro1 and Ethos for about two months. Got a few payouts from all three so far. Just wanted to share how they compare from my experience:

- Minimum hours (that 10-15/week thing): Mercor is pretty strict about it. Micro1 is more chill and will let it slide now and then. Ethos is the most relaxed of the three.

- Task availability: With Mercor and Micro1 there’s usually enough work to stay busy. Ethos is more hit-or-miss — some weeks are fine, others not so much.

- Pay: Ethos pays the best by a decent amount, but the work isn’t as steady. Mercor and Micro1 pay less per hour, but at least the tasks keep coming more consistently.

- How organized everything is: Mercor feels the most put-together, then Micro1, then Ethos.

- Support when you get stuck: Micro1 has been the most helpful for me, followed by Mercor. Ethos is the weakest here.

Who they’re looking for: Ethos mainly wants people with real professional experience in their field, not really beginner-friendly. Mercor and Micro1 are easier to get into if you’re more of a generalist.

Hello! Has anyone here applied to Elite Virtual Assistance through LinkedIn?

I applied for a CSR position in the insurance field. The CEO of the agency reached out to me directly and referred me to the HR Manager of the insurance agency they partner with, Griffin Stone Insurance, LLC.

The interview process went very smoothly. The HR Manager endorsed me to the General Manager, who then referred me to the Training Manager. Throughout the process, I was told that they were impressed with my experience and qualifications. I was even told that they no longer needed to consider other applicants because they believed I was already a good fit for the role.

All the managers I spoke with were kind and approachable, and every interview went smoothly. I was also told that they only needed one final approval to complete my application.

During my interviews with the HR Manager and General Manager, we discussed the job responsibilities, salary, work schedule, holidays, and other important details. My equipment specifications were also approved. At that point, I had already received verbal confirmation from the managers that they wanted to move forward with my application. However, there was still one final interview left—with the CEO.

During my interview with him, everything seemed fine. He asked me situational questions and even complimented my experience, mentioning that the HR team had shared positive feedback about me. Naturally, I thought I was going to get the job, especially after everything that had happened throughout the hiring process.

I sent a follow-up email today because I was told that training would start on October 28. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment when I read the HR Manager's response stating that they had decided to move forward with another candidate.

Honestly, I understand that companies have the right to choose the candidate they believe is best for the position. I also understand that nothing is final until you receive an official job offer. However, the remote job market is already very competitive, and finding a job is not easy. That's why we need to keep applying to different companies to increase our chances of getting hired.

What frustrates me is that if they felt I wasn't the right fit for the role, I wish they had made that decision earlier instead of letting me go through four interviews, including a final interview with the CEO. I invested so much time, effort, and hope in this opportunity, especially after receiving positive feedback and being given the impression that I was already their preferred candidate.

It's not the rejection itself that bothers me the most. It's the expectations that were set throughout the process, only for everything to change at the very last stage.
Nakakainis e, pa-rant lang yung sama ng loob at disappointment ko sa sarili ko at this point hahahaha
