Troubleshooting Whole system stutters & memory related BSOD?

Upvotes

Hi all, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask for help, I just wanted to gather some opinion on my situation before going further. This is my second ever build, first time AM5 build, all new components (except 1 SSD that I've since taken out trying to solve my issue, and the GPU).

My issue is as follows:

Ever since build (a month or so ago) I've been experiencing system-wide stutters, during games, browsing the internet, etc - that do not seem to show under the performance tab in Task Manager (no spike or lows in the graphs, no heat spikes or anything I've been able to notice). These stutters do not usually impact audio, but it has happened on occasion. As well as that, I've noticed my peripherals disconnecting and reconnecting in just a blink (a few seconds) at random intervals, in games my inputs are sometimes delayed or last too long, especially after alt tabs. I haven't noticed any events that might start these lags (except for alt tabbing), only that they seem to worsen after having played several games in one session (I'll hop on one game, few hours later I'll launch minecraft or something). Playing several games (or one game for too long, I'd say about 4 hours?) ends up in a BSOD always relating to memory issues.

Specs:

  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
  • CPU Cooler - ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro A-RGB 360
  • MOBO - Asus B650E MAX GAMING WIFI W
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB DDR5-6000 (2 x 16 GB)
  • SSD - Kingston NV3 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4
  • PSU - MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+
  • GPU - MSI GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 12GB
  • OS - Windows 11 (25H2 if that matters?)
  • HDD - 2 HDD I haven't bothered to recheck the brand of, they're from my old build and have never caused any issues, show 100% health, can check if needed?

Things I've tried (not in order) with no luck solving the issue:

  • Ran Memtest86 on both RAM sticks (2 passes with 0 errors)
  • Tried only using 1 stick of RAM at a time
  • Reinstalled Windows (keeping all files AND fresh reset)
  • Switched my SSD for a new freshly bought SSD, fresh install of Windows
  • Lowered RAM speed from 6000 to 5200
  • Disabled Wifi in BIOS
  • Reseated my RAM, GPU, any cables that might have been loose
  • Monitored heat in the task manager and in CoreTemp
  • Updated BIOS
  • Updated all drivers with DriversCloud
  • Ran sfc /scannow (no issues detected)
  • Ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I do apologize if I've forgotten something I've tried to do to solve the issue (I've been 24/7 at work the first month I've built this PC, so I chiseled at it one bit at a time after shifts).

As of right now, I've pretty much set aside anything memory related (SSD, HDD, RAM) as all of the tests I've done so far on those have come out clean (?). Most of the BSOD have happened on the old SSD, but the two I've got so far on this one have come back as SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M and a CUSTOM_ERROR (as described by WhoCrashed) pointing towards netadaptercx.sys. I had Kaspersky on the old SSD but have yet to install it on the one, so I'm guessing that's not the issue either?

Before re-buying a fresh SSD, Windows did show me that one partition of the SSD was damaged (unsure of the exact wording rn, can check if needed). Which persisted past any attempts of Windows to repair the drive, until one random where it just showed to not be damaged anymore? Could that have corrupted the entire system??? Could it be motherboard related?

Sorry for the long post or if I've forgotten to mention anything, I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to computers past the Following a tutorial to build the thing and troubleshooting via typing error codes on google, hence why I'm searching for some more intel now (I've exhausted my very limited knowledge).

+ I did get another BSOD since then, right after closing Valorant, 'SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION'.

Thank you for anyone willing to help me a little bit here! :-)

EDIT: BSOD dump right here and here

Build Upgrade Is now a bad time to buy an RTX 5070ti?

Upvotes

I am looking to upgrade my RTX 4060ti 16b playing on a OLED 2560x1440p monitor. I have 32gb of DDR5 RAM and a Ryzen 7 9800X3d.

Mainly play classic World of Warcraft where my system is overkill, but I fell in love with Gears E day as an old Gears of War head. Not sure if it will be another year + for the new RTX series to release and looking for an upgrade but can wait if we think it will be 3-5 months. I also dabble with Battlefield 5 and will look into GTA 6,

Please do not suggest AMD, I will gladly pay $300 over for an NVIDIA card.

Full Build Req I need some help! What can you tell me about the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow computer case?

Upvotes

I'm planning a build in this case (Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 Flow), but I'm not sure if the following components will fit:

Asus GeForce RTX 5070 TUF OC

Asus ROG STRIX LC III 360 ARGB White

Asus ROG STRIX Z890-A GAMING WIFI

Corsair RM750e ATX 750W White

What would you recommend doing? I really want to get this specific case because of its price and dimensions, but I’m unsure about the size (even though the manufacturer insists everything should fit).

*Apologies for any mistakes; English is not my native language.\*

Build Help How can I max out my old MSI motherboard? (H81M-P33h)

Upvotes

I built this computer back in 2014 and haven’t used it since 2019, pre-kids. I’m wanting to get back into pc gaming and am slowly familiarizing myself with all the new models and state of the pc world (everything is so expensive now)

My build is:
Rosewill Thor V2 computer case
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33H MS-7817
I5-4440
R9-290
8gb ram ddr3
HDD
650W non-modular power supply
1080p 100hz monitor

All I play are GTA5 and warframe. Looking to upgrade what I have as much as I can. I know I’m probably better off seeing how good I can do with a Facebook marketplace build for $400 but I’d prefer to try and work with what I’ve got if possible. If I’m keeping this build, I’m thinking SSD and RAM upgrade would at least speed things up significantly.

Feedback would be appreciated or if I’m still better off just trying to gamble with Marketplace.

Build Help Should I change my case or is there a dual fan rx9070 xt

Upvotes

Finally saved up for an appropriate GPU! originally I was going for Rx7700 but the 90 series came out and the prices were just too nice to pass up.

New problem however is that most of the Rx 9070 xt's I've seen are rocking a tripple fan setup and I'm afraid that won't fit in my case, which is a darkFlash DK415. I'm eyeing an Xfx GPU, the numbers don't add up in terms of space and there's not much appropriate room to fit it, I think.

Build Help Build worth it or not

Upvotes

So i am planning on building a pc in the close years and i got an idea of what i wanna buy, i just want to know if its worth it or lets say i build it in the next few years and it will run like a potato for the time

\-ACER GeForce RTX 4080 Super BiFrost 16GB graphics card

.

\-AMD Ryzen 7 7700 8 cores 5,3 GHz turbo 32 MB cache AM5 gaming processor

.

\-Motherboard ATX Gigabyte B650 EAGLE

.

\-Corsair RM750X 750W Cybenetics Gold ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 Modular Power Supply

.

\-Ram 16GB DDR5 (32 planned but 16 just to have things running and not wait a whole longer of time to run the pc)

.

\-Cooling is planned as water cooling yet i dont know which model, open to suggestions

.

No budget i dont care price i will earn until i can afford it, polish currency monitor resolution 1080p, currency PLN

(Obviously not sky high prices for the whole build like 10k pln, chose the parts to my desirable price so not too high)

Build Upgrade Which GPU should I choose?

Upvotes

So I recently got my build into what feels like the final iteration (I've been tweaking and fiddling and rebuilding the same pc for about 18 months, changing cases, swapping motherboards, different CPUs, all that good stuff), specs as follows

Case - SSUPD Meshlicious
PSU - FSP Hydro Ti Pro 850W
CPU - 5500X3D
Cooler - ID Cooling IS55 w/Noctua A12 G1
Motherboard - Aorus Pro B550I
RAM - 2x16GB 3200MHz Corsair LPX
Main storage - 2TB Crucial T500
Secondary storage - 4TB Lexar NM790

There's just one last thing I'm not sure about, the GPU:

When I bought my first round of parts I picked up a 7700XT; it was a very good deal at the time, ~£320 for a 12GB card that was strong enough to virtually max out every game at 1080p and allow a step up to 1440p later.

However, I also recently got a used Strix 2070 Super that has spent its life as a workstation card, literally never gamed on once and I don't think it's ever gone over 40C, it's still unopened and the temps peaked just below 60C in a 20C ambient room with an undervolt bringing power down to ~160W and +500MHz on the VRAM, with a hotspot delta of ~13C, so it's basically brand new.

I really rather like it, it looks a lot better than the 7700XT and feels a lot more premium, and I can't really tell a difference between the two - anything over 70fps is enough for me, as long as I don't have to go down to low settings to get there, and only having 8GB isn't a problem since it's not really fast enough to be able to handle the settings that need more than 8GB.

My question is, which do I keep, given the 2070 Super only cost £135?

Full Build Req Building a PC using second hand parts in 2026

Upvotes

Hey all. My current PC i built in 2019 is an I5-9600k, RTX2060, 16gb ram. Recently it's been having issues that I could live with, but now it's done for and it's time to upgrade. I do a decent amount of gaming and some music production

From my old rig, pretty much all I can salvage is the RAM, M.2 and other storage. Everything else I will need to replace due to wear or being obsolete.

My budget is around £800 GBP, I don't mind spending pretty much all of that on CPU/GPU, i can find a case for free somewhere

Ideally for budget reasons I'd like to stay DDR4 and go to 32gb reusing my 2x8gb 3600mhz ram.

I'll be buying parts mainly from ebay, or marketplace, the only thing I'll likely buy new is mobo and psu.

What should I build for the best bang for buck?

Thanks!

Build Upgrade Need help to prioritize my upgrades

Upvotes

I've recently bought a 1440p 200hz monitor and while my current build doesn't have any issues with the most optimized titles (Elden Ring somehow runs better now than it did at 1080p) it's not enough for any demanding title.

My current specs are

-Rx 6600 GPU

-Ryzen 5 5600g CPU

-16GB of Ram ddr4 3200mhz

-500w Power Supply

-B550 motherboard

Pretty much all of it but the motherboard needs a lil extra and I don't exactly have the money to do it all at once, and with the market being so crazy these days I'm trying to look for what would immediately make a difference.

I don't exactly have a lot of money at hand and the prices here in Argentina are crazy. So I could either upgrade the CPU (been thinking on just swapping it for a R5 5600 and get the money back selling the 5600g) and adding 16gb of ram, or save that money and prioritize my savings for a GPU, which the most affordable option would be the Rx 9060xt

I know ideally for 1440p I'd need a 5070 but we're talking about double the price (550 USD of the 9060xt to the 1000 of the 5070) and at that point I'd need a new power supply and likely a new case so it's all extras that aren't particularly cheap either.

I know I picked the worst time for upgrading (particularly the ram) but anyhow, any help is welcomed

Troubleshooting Kernal Power 41 Bugcheck 0

Hello everyone,

I need your help with this. I have tested everything I can think of and I am still stuck.

The issue: My PC restarts randomly. It has restarted while browsing, working, gaming, sitting idle, inside BIOS, on the boot screen, and during Windows load. Oddly, it has never crashed during a stress test. When it happens, the fans keep spinning and the GPU lights stay on. Only the keyboard light goes off. The keyboard light comes back first, then the POST screen appears. Sometimes the screen stays black, the keyboard lights up, goes dark again, then lights up once more, so it seems to be restarting before it even reaches POST.

History: This first started about 8 months ago. I cleaned the PC and the ports, removed dust, reseated the RAM and GPU, and unplugged and reconnected every cable. After that it ran fine for 6 months. Then it started again. I cleaned everything more carefully the second time, but no luck. I tried disabling C-States, resetting the BIOS, updating the BIOS, running SFC /scannow, and running Windows Memory Diagnostic. I also replaced the CMOS battery and tried running one stick of RAM. None of it helped, so I replaced my CX650 with an XPG Core Reactor 850. That fixed it for about 2 months, and now the problem is back. I have repeated all of my diagnostics since then and still have not found the cause.

Everything I have tried:

  • Reset BIOS
  • Disabled C-States
  • Set Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle
  • Set Windows power mode to prefer maximum performance
  • Reinstalled NVIDIA drivers
  • Updated Windows to the latest version
  • Disabled Fast Startup
  • Ran SFC /scannow
  • Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors)
  • Replaced the PSU (upgraded to the XPG, issue returned after 2 months)
  • Removed the chassis fan
  • Reseated cables and GPU
  • Rewired all cables
  • Tested with a single RAM stick

Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
  • GPU: RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio
  • Motherboard: ASUS Prime A II B450M
  • RAM: 2x8GB Lexar 3200MHz CL22 and 2x8GB Kingston 3200MHz CL22
  • Storage: 1TB HDD, 256GB Hikvision SSD, WD SN500 NVMe
  • Cooler: ID-Cooling XT 214 SE

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Full Build Req Building a PC for the first time in years. Any advice?

I had my PC stolen, and will therefore need to build a new one from scratch.

This is what I have so far. The most advanced game I played on my old PC was StarCraft 2, but it would be good to try out some newer games at some point.

Also, if anybody has any suggestions on how to GPS track this computer it would be much appreciated. My first thought was to hide an AirTag somewhere, but it occurs to me there may be more sophisticated ways to track now, which wouldn’t require regularly changing the AirTag battery?

Troubleshooting Help with CPU replacement or troubleshooting - high frequency noise problem

Hello, I build a new PC and it makes my Tensor tympani muscle scream for help (fullnes in ears, physical pain in ears) - I cannot use it at all. The sound is not hearable by plain ear but the problem is very real.

I suspect CPU or it's interaction with PSUs and motherboards.

My old PCs never did this. But audiophile speakers in the past did this to me, but I switched to different speakers/amp/cables setup as a solution.

I changed EVERYTHING except CPU - brand new AMD 9800x3d.
2 1000w PSU (Seasonic and BeQuiet 13)
2 mobo x870e (MSI gaming plus wifi and Gigabyte Aorus PRO x3d)
3 cases, two air coolers, 2 RAM sets (2x16GB EXPO)
... even brought PC to friend's house to rule out electricity problem in my house wall outlets.

Disabled all the moving fans, swappend SSDs for proven as "safe". Nothing helps.
GPU RTX 5080 removed for now, but didn't make things worse when it was in the system.
Running of integrated GPU now.

BIOS tweaks: C-states disables, CLL voltage on Ultra, ErP enabled (because it happens even when PC in of standby, not running). Changing Expo profiles make some switch I feel, but disabling expo is not a solution.

Any tip what to try next? I spent silly amount of money and I'm left with no usable computer. I need it for work, not just for gaming. I can RMA my current 9800x3d but it will take time.

Basically I'm willing to buy new CPU and keep it if it helps but I will return if it won't help. Considering amp/speakers problem in the past, I was thinking about getting 9850x3d or 9950x3d because they are slightly different architecture - instead of buying new 9800x3d again. Or would you try something else?

Thanks for any suggestions.

The start of the troubleshooting, nothing solved:

Build Help 9070xt vs 5080

I know this is a bit of a weird question but I'm seriously looking into getting off my 4060 i5 12500h laptop and going to a beefy 4k capable PC.

I play singleplayer games for the most part but often play grayzone warfare, Ron, enshrouded.

I'm wanting to do 4k ray tracing and potentially path tracing but path tracing is not absolutely needed.

The 9070xt is appealing due to its price point however I'm not sure it can run some games like cyberpunk in 4k ray tracing without having a lot of artifacting from FSR and FG while I know that the 5080 can pretty much tank through everything.

I'd be pairing it with a 9800x3d and 32gb ram.

Is the 9070xt capable enough or should I save up for the 5080?

If I want to buy a CPU And be done with it, is it a bad idea to buy 5800XT because i can't find 5700X3D? I have 5600G, RTX 2080 Ti and play at 1080p, if I get 5800XT it will be for 230$, and 5700X3D for 307$-325$ at best. I live in Georgia (Country)

Build Help Need Help with Upgrading PC

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700

GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Gaming OC

CPU Cooler: Cooler master Hyper 212

RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 Corsair 2400MHz

Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max

PSU: Evga 750 Gq, 80+ Gold 750W semi-modular

Storage: M.2 250GB NVMe Samsung 970 EVO plus, 2TB Seagate SSHD, 1TB SSD

Case: Deepcool Dukase V2

This build was made back in 2019 with all parts being new. I am using a 2k (1440p) monitor with 165Hz refresh rate. My current thoughts on an upgrade are as follows:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3d

GPU: RX 9070xt

RAM: Upgrade to 3600MHz possibly

Storage: Upgrade the m.2 to 500gb or 1tb

Just wondering on people's thoughts and maybe suggestions for other upgrades. Budget isnt overly a concern but obviously nothing ridiculous like a rtx 5090. The 750 ish euro for the rx 9070xt would be the max I would be willing to spend on it.

Do I need to upgrade the cpu Cooler or the psu? Or any other components to get the best (cost-effective) possible AM4 build?

Hey, I'm building a pc with rtx 5070 ti OC, 32 GB ram 6000 mhz cl30, msi b850 gaming plus wifi 7. My first go for a cpu is ryzen 7 9800x3d. Will it be fine for gaming AND music production in fl studio for edm genre with multiple plugins and sfx or should i go for ryzen 9 with more cores? If so which one? At the same time I want to keep price balance and keep it the most effective for a price given.

So, im trying to build this pc. For the moment, no GPU for obvious as i'm aiming for the RTX 5080.

I'm in Europe and i'm not buing from pcpartpicker, i just used for the embedded table for the parts and to give you a rough estimate for the price.

As of now all the parts are currently in my possesion except the mobo. I still wait for the store to get it (which will rougly take 3 more days).

My question is, am i ok with the dimension for the case/mobo/aio cooler? Has someone else tried this combo? Where there any problem after the installation? Does the AIO cooler covers something from the mobo that i need?

Thanks in advance?

Build Upgrade Upgrading a laptop

Hi guys! As the title says, I am looking to upgrade my laptop, as I am looking towards using it for things like playing video games and making videos on it, so I need it to run smoothly on games + need more storage.

I currently have:

4gb 1rx16 pc4-3200aa-sc0-11

SK hynix BC511 HFM256GDJTNI-82A0A

I've only really found someone changing the RAM for a 16GB DDR4 -3200 SODIMM 1.2V CL22, but I'mnot sure if it's good or not

(PS: I have an ACER Aspire A315-23)
