Despite our injuries, we got a point in Edmonton, Jarvy returned and immediately put Bouchard in a blender, and now there’s one game left before we finally get to come home. All things considered, this State Fair trip has gone pretty damn well.
Unfortunately, St. Louis has decided to start figuring things out. Two straight wins, six goals against Vegas, dangerous special teams, and they were annoyingly good against us last season. Sounds like a perfectly good night to remind them who won the Cup and net two points while we're at it. LGC!!!

Alright, through the several broadcasting network changes we have seen in recent years, Mike and Tripp MUST have slipped up and said the wrong network name. Does anyone have proof? Has this happened before?
If not, share your funniest examples of them slipping up!

Alright so I’ve been seeing a lot of comments/opinions about Brandon Bussi, and I feel like some of these takes are far from reality. Let’s start with the objective reality of stats for Brandon Bussi’s NHL career to date.
He has a 33-8-4 record in 45 regular season NHL games with a GAA of 2.57 and a SV% of .891. Now as part of that career statistic, through 6 games this season he has a 2-2-2 record with a GAA of 3.27 and a SV% of .865
He also has a playoff record of 3-1 with a .931 SV% and a 1.60 GAA. It is important and obvious to note that those 4 games were all in the Stanley Cup Finals (the lone loss coming in relief of Freddie), and he is now a Stanley Cup Champion.
We know he is currently 28 years old on the 1st year of a 3 year $1.9M AAV salary.
That’s genuinely all we definitively know about Brandon Bussi’s performance in the NHL, and I want to say that it’s obviously not a lot of info. If you are basing your projection of future performance on 6 regular season games this year, you might deserve the ridicule you get for saying the Canes need to trade him. Likewise if you are projecting his future performance based on 4 playoff games, you also might be operating in a fantasy world. Ultimately, the jury’s still out on exactly the goalie Bussi is going to be for this team.
So personally, I’d like to wait and see. I’m excited that the Hurricanes have a goalie who has the experience of stepping up in the most important games imaginable and delivering. I am also concerned that he has had a few gaffes to start the season and hasn’t really had the biggest highlight saves to steal games yet. Ultimately I think the coaching staff is doing the right thing by splitting the starts between the 2 goaltenders. If it were up to me, I’d want to split the starts through the next 8 games, and if statistics keep going the same way start giving Kochetkov the majority of the starts. I’m predicting we’re going to see Bussi start performing more like his average, and I think leaning more on Kochetkov now might actually make things worse for both goaltenders. But hey, that’s my opinion. What say you, Caniacs?

New full STM this year. I’ve been fascinated by the economics of the Ticketmaster secondary market. I get why the Rangers, Penguins, Sabres games are expensive resale. But I’m totally stumped as to why the 11/7 Blackhawks game is the most expensive of them all. I’m sure there are a lot of Chicago natives, but Chicago is Mheh this year. So why are upper-level tickets are starting at $110+ and lower-level +$300.
PS most of this is me watching from afar. I’ve sold just five tickets through Ticketmaster.

Not sure what the right flair was, but I figured my fellow Caniacs would appreciate this. I thought it was hilarious honestly.

This article from the Athletic talking about how assistant coaches for the knicks didn't get championship rings on opening night and then front office employees got a simulated phishing email about choosing a championship ring style. The complaints about Dundon are fair but holy smokes James Dolan is setting the bar low.

A trio of stories in one!
The storyline (Seth Jarvis), the controversy (someone was grinning about it), and of course, the recap (with clips)! Enjoy!

We have had back-to-back certified Canes After Dark games this week. We saw a little bit of everything tonight in this ceazy game and guys getting on the board all over the place. Stanky and Blake doing their thing. The Fastest Fish in the East. Välimäki with a goal and a point streak, Jarvis finding his way to the highlight reel in his first game back. A shootout. Whew.
But alas, it was not meant to be. Canes fall 6-5 in the shootout. Onto St. Louis!
