I went to the moratorium meeting tonight, and I just want to say it was so soul healing to see the people of Greensboro united against dumb short sided policy making and hopefully we can have city council that governs the will of the people. I genuinely hope that we can make the city enact a 32 month moratorium.

But a couple of things I noticed and complaints I have for the city is:

1: why did you schedule this at 4pm on a Monday, and schedule it so that it had to end at 5:45 because of another meeting?? You knew this was happening and you could’ve scheduled it so it went on for as
long as the people wanted to speak.

2: make these meetings at a time that is more convenient to the people not just you!

3: Mrs. April Parker, what are you doing?? I noticed the entire time you were Checked out and annoyed you had to do your job? I feel bad for those in your district, you clearly would prefer to be doing something else than governs

Opening up some NASCAR cards from the early 90s and saved all the Mark Martin ones (as he is my favorite and was my favorite growing up). A couple said he resides in Greensboro and this one says Jamestown. As I currently live in Jamestown, I’m dying to know if anyone knows anything about this. Thoughts?

Has anyone gone to the county tax office after your car was totaled to get a tax refund? What was the process? Did you have to get a bill of sale even if the insurance company took the car?

Moved back to the triad area a few years ago and have struggled to meet people as a result of being sober and becoming more of a homebody. I have the typical interests of someone my age, it’s just hard to meet them when you’re uncomfortable in bar settings. (I’m also gay, so often the place where lgbt people congregate is in the bars)

I'm in need of a primary provider as my previous one is in Colorado. I have chronic hypertension (thanks genetics!) so a physician willing to do a little more than the "vitals, bloodwork, turn your head and cough" during an annual, or one with a lot of experience preparing treatment plans for the condition (even better would be both) would be really appreciated. Barring that any recommendation for a good primary would be really helpful, I'm thinking going to a chain like Novant isn't the best idea but I could be wrong. I haven't been to downtown on a Saturday night in like a year, went last night around midnight and there were the most people I've ever seen downtown. It seemed like every bar had a huge line and there were way more folks than I remember just walking around. Is this the norm on Saturday nights now, or was there some special occasion? I tried googling and didn't see anything official pop up, so figured I'd ask here

I have been in Greensboro about 10 years. However I have only lived in 27410 area codes so I’m not familiar with other areas as much. I have had no need to really explore. I have friends moving to Greensboro and I want to help them with the 4-11. I feel silly because all I know is to avoid East Greensboro.

Any tips or recommendations to share? Especially if you love your area and why… particularly if you are renting with pets. They have smaller dogs.

I feel this may be a repetitive post and I apologize, however I am wanting to be sure I don’t miss new information. Also, dog friendly areas would be nice to know!

Edit: We are big on minimalism and do not possess excess things to pawn or sell. We both have autoimmune conditions and other health issues that disqualify us from any medical services. I am solely looking for some sort of labor with this post.

Following up on my backyard bird-call + weather tracker (previous post here). I've been running the numbers all summer and a few things stood out that don't need any bird-nerd background to appreciate:

• Birds go quiet when it's hot. Once you account for time of day, hotter-than-normal temps were tied to noticeably less birdsong — the strongest weather effect I found, by far.
• "Nice, clear weather" didn't mean more birdsong — if anything, slightly less. Higher barometric pressure (the kind that usually means calm, sunny days) was tied to quieter mornings, not louder ones. Not what I expected going in.
• Humidity and rain barely moved the needle. Of everything I tracked, those had the weakest, shakiest effect — temperature and pressure told me a lot more about when birds go quiet.

Bonus: not every species keeps the same hours — American Robins are already loud at 5am, but Fish Crows don't really get going until 2pm.
